Undermining America: The Refugee Coalition

Politically Short, September 27, 2015

On September 24, 2015, mayors from eighteen U.S. cities signed a letter to President Obama urging him to take in even more refugees than the mere 85,000 that the administration intends to accept this year. The letter, while listing only 18 mayors, is in reality apart of a much broader network that consists of over 84 mayors in nearly 100 cities and growing that are working in conjunction with the organization called Cities United For Immigration Action (CUIA).

In this letter written to the President, the mayors not only commend Obama for accepting 10,000 Syrian Refugees, but call for him to accept tens of thousands more. They state that “as the mayors of cities across the country, we see first-hand the myriad ways in which immigrants and refugees make our communities stronger economically, socially and culturally. We will welcome the Syrian families to make homes and new lives in our cities. Indeed, we are writing to say that we stand ready to work with your Administration to do much more and to urge you to increase still further the number of Syrian refugees the United States will accept for resettlement.”

Furthermore, the mayors write as justification for expanding the number of refugees that “our cities have been transformed by the skills and the spirit of those who come to us from around the world. The drive and enterprise of immigrants and refugees have helped build our economies, enliven our arts and culture, and enrich our neighborhoods.” They then conclude the letter by citing Pope Francis in his call for “greater compassion in the face of this ongoing crisis” while noting that they “have taken in refugees, and will make room for thousands more.”

With mayors signing on from states such as Minnesota, California, New York, New Jersey, New Mexico, Florida, Colorado, and many more the coalition has pledged their support for accepting refugees with little to no input for the concern of American citizens. Yet, this letter from the mayors represents only the latest push from officials and politicians working to undermine the sovereignty of our country through what James Simpson of the Center for Security Policy has labeled The Red-Green Axis.

“America is being undermined by a tidal wave of immigration,” writes Simpson, noting that “federal agencies collaborate with multinational entities and a universe of liberal organizations to bring in people from all over the world, while so-called ‘Volunteer Agencies‘ (VOLAGs) are remunerated handsomely on taxpayer dollars.” Every year, for instance, the U.S. government allows approximately 1 million immigrants to establish legal permanent residence in the United States. Among them are people from countries unfriendly or outright hostile to the U.S. as an estimated 140,000 emigrate from Muslim countries and an even greater number from communist countries. And these are just the “legal ones”.

Simpson then notes the following:

“An entire category of immigrant is being overlooked. And this group is having a profound impact on the complexion of our society–an impact that is rapidly rising to the level of a national security threat. At last count, approximately 2,500 referrals from Syria had been received in 2014, 7 with 700 actually resettled so far. More will be received in this and subsequent years to help accommodate a significant proportion of the approximately 2.9 million Syrians fleeing civil war.”

The initial push for the acceptance of Syrian Refugees came on May 21, 2015, as fourteen U.S. senators signed a letter urging President Obama to expand the refugee program to allow 65,000 Syrian refugees into the U.S. by the end of 2016. To get an idea of the symbiotic relationship between the Obama adminstration, government politicians, and lobbying groups, the Senate letter justifies the increase in refugees by citing Refugee Council USA, a lobbying group representing one of the VOLAGs that receives payment by the federal government to resettle refugees and asylees. There are nine primary national contractors paid by the federal government to resettle refugees and asylees. These ‘Voluntary Agencies’ known as VOLAGs are listed below with their acronyms and can be viewed by clicking on each agency:

CWS – Church World Service

ECDC – Ethiopian Community Development Council

HIAS – Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society

IRC – International Rescue Committee

LIRS – Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services

CC/USCCB – Catholic Charities/U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops

USCRI – U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants

EMM – Episcopal Migration Ministries WRI World Relief Inc.

Additionally, there are 350 subcontractors in 190 cities affiliated with the nine main refugee VOLAGs and the chart below lists the amount of money awarded by the federal government to these contractors since 2008.

As you can see the amount of money that has been awarded to these non-governmental organizations is enormous with the total since 2008 amounting to over $4 billion. Simpson notes that “because they are non-governmental organizations (NGOs), they can and do lobby for advantageous changes to law and build allies in Congress and the bureaucracy, all fertilized by an open spigot of taxpayer dollars.”

From this point, as an American, you should be absolutely stunned at what is going on behind the scenes without your knowledge nor your input in regards to the fact that your taxpayer money along with your elected officials are undermining your security by allowing these organizations operate without any oversight. The push by fourteen Senate democrats for 65,000 refugees along with the eighty-four mayors is only the beginning though, as seventy-two House democrats have also joined this coalition.

In letter on September 11, 2015, initiated by Rep. David Cicilline(D-RI.) and signed by seventy-one democrats, they urge Obama to resettle over three times the 65,000 refugees initially pushed for by the Senate democrats back in May. The House democrats cite Refugee Council USA, just as the fourteen Senators did, and “recommend that the United States resettle a minimum of 200,000 refugees by the end of 2016, including 100,000 Syrian refugees.” Neglecting the fact that the FBI has stated that they have no way of properly vetting the 2,500 Syrian refugees that we’ve already accepted, it further goes to show how little these Senators, Representatives, Mayors, and VOLAGs care about the repercussions of admitting 100,000 into our country.

In her book, Refugee Resettlement and the Hijra to America, Ann Corcoran explains that “Refugee resettlement has become a major money-maker for what can only be described as the ‘Religious Left,’ whose goal is to change the demographic make-up of the 180-plus cities and towns in which they presently work.” Corcorans’ statement perfectly describes exactly what is happening as push for more and more refugees comes solely from the Left. Whether it be Mayors, Senators, or Representatives in the House, they’re all seeking to change the demographic make-up of the United States by forcing the taxpayers to subsidize their own destruction. The following map provided by the Office of Refugee Resettlement identifies where the primary nine VOLAGs operate within America and where their affiliate sites are located.

In closing, the following links consist of those democratic Senators, Mayors and Representatives who make up the coalition which has urged for the destruction of our country via the acceptance of hundreds of thousands of refugees. If your elected official is on this list, I highly suggest you contact them and moreover do what you can to make sure they are never elected into office again.
