Chained Protesters Block Oakland Federal Building

Henry K. Lee and Kurtis Alexander, San Francisco Chronicle, January 16, 2015

A group of protesters chained themselves together and partly blocked the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building on Friday morning in downtown Oakland, saying they wanted to reclaim the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

The demonstration began at 6:30 a.m. and lasted for 4½ hours, the length of time the body of Michael Brown was left on the street after he was shot and killed by a police officer in Ferguson, Mo., in August.

The protesters allowed full access to the building afterward and hugged each other to loud cheers.

More than a dozen protesters converged outside the twin-tower building at 1301 Clay St., which houses federal offices. Some had tubes covering their wrists and forearms that read, “3rd World Unite” and “Silence is Violence.”

Other protesters held signs reading, “Third World for Black Power” and “Global Resistance Against Police Violence.”

The entrance to federal courthouses in the south tower remained open.

Demonstrators said the U.S. government helps oppress blacks and citizens of third-world countries and that they were protesting to honor King’s “legacy of struggle and internationalism.”

“By engaging in this action, we want to make clear that as long as this war continues, there will be no business usual,” read a statement issued by the group Third World Resistance.

The Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building
Kinda says it all, doesn’t it?!

The protesters allowed full access to the building afterward and hugged each other to loud cheers.
Aww – how cute and revolutionary.

    Third World for Black Power
And Oakland sure fits that bill perfectly.

    The group Third World Resistance.
Catchy name – as opposed to the other 50 Million other radical groups’ ‘catchy names.’

They’d better hope like hell that there is never “black 3rd world power” – it would be their worst nightmare.

Any protesters that interfere with businesses and people trying to get to work should be punished to a year of hard labor breaking up rocks.

I’m surprised one of them hasn’t been “Rachael Corrie’d.

      Truth about Oakland:

Caught in the crossfire: 21 children have been shot and killed in Oakland since 2011

      More truth about Oakland:

      • Third World Black Power currently has other blacks crossing through crocodile-infested lakes and rivers to escape black Boko Haram murderers.

      Did we mention Third World?

The concept of “Third World” is so over anyway. What countries does it include? Any Muslim countries? Or is it just black and Hispanic countries? And has the Left checked out women’s rights and gay rights in these Third World countries? They would not like it

Argentina, Chile, and Mexico are actually considered 2nd world countries. Some say Mexico is actually a bottom of the barrel first world country. It actually helps that they dump their poor on us.

        • Christorchaos

I thought second world meant communist coutries. No?

Can anyone here think of an accurate alternative expression?

Depends what you are trying to express. (-:

For the (un)developing regions like much of Africa and the Arab world.

There are a lot of different measurements for “messed up country”, some due to their own faults, some due to the faults of others, some just due to pure happenstance. The term “debtor” nation (as opposed to cre willditor nation) tells me, personally, a lot. I wish the term were used more.

‘Third World for Black Power.’ Please go back to your barbaric, primitive cesspools there. You’re not wanted here in the civilised, first world.

What these demonstrators have yet to articulate is specifically what do they want? Back in the 60’s and early 70’s demonstrations against the Vietnam War were clear, end the war. It ended and things quieted down. And please, don’t tell us you want “reparations”, or more programs, or the always popular “justice for (fill in the blank). Hands up, don’t shoot and I can’t breath. What does that translate into?

    • Mary

Exactly, they never articulate what the end game is for them. They just desire to bring down traditional White America, and assume everything will fall into place. They have no idea what that actually will unleash.

They want everything you’ve got, but they don’t want to go to school, or work, to get them. They want YOU to pay for it.

      AKA “gibmetat”…

      That’s their end games.

“saying they wanted to reclaim the legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.”

    Well, I agree with them.

I want MLK’s legacy “relcaimed” as well- his legacy of plagiarism, adultery and hypocrisy.

  • Happened in St. Louis today, the handsupdontshoot brigade invaded the Martin Luther King Day ceremonies at the HBCU in town. The kook left is cannibalizing itself.

  • Sick of it

“Demonstrators said the U.S. government helps oppress blacks and citizens of third-world countries”

Actually, the U.S. government helps oppress all white people worldwide and gives a good chunk of every dollar we earn to those “oppressed” parasites!

  • Christorchaos

Only in San Franciso: Desperately trying to internationalize everything a la the Commies. Trying to bring back the 1930s. Good luck.

  • TheMaskedUnit

The legacy of MLK Jr is tyranny of the state over the individual … as a communist, he would be proud.

  • libertarian1234

“Group held signs saying “3rd World Unite” and “Third World for Black Power.”
Are they THAT dense that they’re not aware that the third world wants no part of blacks?

I’m all for blacks having all the power they want as long as they go about it in their own countries, because they’re too dumb and mentally disturbed to manage and maintain anything.

They really do need to have their own homeland and quit trying to force other people to accept them into their societies.

  • I have long wondered what effect throwing several cans of gasoline onto protestards who have chained themselves together would have. I bet they could get themselves out of there rather quickly once the lighter and July 4 sparklers came out. Please forgive me if I sound too much like our friend Mr. Spartacus.

  • WR_the_realist

The Third World should leave the First World.

  • Slayer88

“Silence is Violence”…..our politicians being silent and afraid to tell it like it is are causing violence against the white population….

    • If only they were silent. In fact, they’re constantly lying to us.

  • I’d imagine if a group of white people protested against violence against whites, and blocked the entrance like that, the police would have showed up and arrested them all. So who’s the “persecuted” race again?

  • Lkoehn

They should be out in a field picking fruit and vegetables for a living as that is black power at it’s best.

What’s the point of trying to change America into a third world nation? People want a better life, yet do everything they can to make it like the dump they came from. BTW, this is just a rhetorical question, I’m merely venting.

  • Conrad

Isn’t it odd that in the People’s Republic of California, where these non-whites & anti-whites are given what ever they want, they still aren’t satisfied. The truth is, they never will be satisfied.
