A Billion Africans Under 18 by mid-Century: More Jobs, or More Angry Youth?

Diptesh Soni, Christian Science-Monitor, September 9, 2014

recent report by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) forecasts that if current trends persist, one in every four people on the planet will be African by the year 2100.

Even accounting for a decline in fertility brought on by greater prosperity, UNICEF predicts that by 2050 alone, the number of Africans under the age of eighteen may swell to around one billion.

The report concludes that more emphasis must be placed on access to reproductive health services, girls’ education, and vital statistics systems.

Such numbers should inform development strategies and common perceptions on the African continent.

The notion of a “demographic dividend” in Africa seems largely misguided, and should not be passively viewed as inevitable. The dividend arises when fertility rates fall due to better health outcomes, but this process has been slow to arrive in Africa.

Some claim that a large pool of labor can provide an engine of growth through expanded light manufacturing, but the fact is that African labor markets are currently unable to absorb a vast and growing supply of workers.

With some notable exceptions, low-wage manufacturing jobs have remained in Asia and the steady growth in labor saving technology also bodes poorly for a manufacturing revolution in Africa, all while service-led growth has severe limitations.

{snip}

No country exemplifies the challenges and ambiguities of demographic and economic growth like Nigeria. News of Nigeria overtaking South Africa as the largest economy on the continent was met with much excitement.

However, with a rapidly growing population of almost 180 million and an adjusted GDP per capita less than one fifth of South Africa’s, Nigeria is desperately poor by any measure. Its economy remains dependent on oil exports and much of the new foreign investment ventures are directed at tapping the growing market for fast-moving consumer goods, rather than expanding labor absorbing industries.

With little economic diversification and a weak education system the chances that Nigeria’s youth of today or tomorrow will find productive employment and sustainable livelihoods are reduced.

A population that is both underemployed and undereducated breeds an environment of discontent that can provide a large recruitment base for extremist groups like Boko Haram.

The Ebola crisis has shown that problems of poverty are not beholden to national boundaries. If African governments, their donors, and their private sector partners do not adapt strategies to mitigate the dangers of demographic explosion, future generations of Africans and non-Africans will be much worse for it.

If schools, neighborhoods, cities and countries have tipping points then surely the planet does too.

A world that is 25% African is a world that just about no one outside of Africa will want to live in.

    • Whitetrashgang

That’s why WT has to get the death star going and head for Mars. 25 percent African is like having 25 percent T REX, nothing good will ever become of it.

      • No amount of gibs could sustain that abundance of vibrant inclusion.

Well, first they have to survive to 2100:

      Reuters, 9/9/2014:

      GENEVA/FREETOWN –

Liberia, the country worst hit by West Africa’s Ebola epidemic, should see thousands of new cases in coming weeks as the virus spreads exponentially, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Monday.

      American Thinker, August, 2014:

Airborne Transmission of Ebola: The public has been misinformed regarding human-to-human transmission of Ebola. Assurances that Ebola can be transmitted only through direct contact with bodily fluids need to be seriously scrutinized in the wake of the West Africa outbreak.

      http//wwwamericanthinkercom/2014/08/airborne_transmission_of_ebolahtml#ixzz3CrZ5MAFJ

      Daily Mail:

Infections can spread from an office door handle to half the workforce in just two hours, new research has found. Using tracer viruses, a study found as much as 60 per cent of workers in the building carried the bug planted after 120 minutes….

Study found between 40 and 60 per cent of office contaminated in two hours. Pushing buttons in lifts and touching phones spread infection quickest.Disinfectant wipes and regularly washing hands is best way to kill germs.

      Stay safe, friend.

      • obot

As long as it stays in Africa, who cares

        • Bon, From the Land of Babble

Well, see that’s the problem: Ebola AND backwards, destitute, sick Africans are being deliberately brought into the U.S. – the third Ebola case was just flown in two days ago.

As for Africans staying in Africa:

Over the last five years we’ve averaged about 100,000 Africans per year admitted as “Legal Permanent Residents” (green card holders); about 13,500 Africans per year arrive as refugees and about 5,000 Africans are granted asylum.

Approximately 72,000 Africans become naturalized U.S. Citizens every year.

          That’s why we should care.

    • Whitetrashgang

      God bless the tribe.

    • LHathaway

You forgot the 100 million or so SAmericans of African or partial African descent?

  • It wasn’t that long ago that the big demographic worry about black Africa was extinction.

Some claim that a large pool of labor can provide an engine of growth through expanded light manufacturing, but the fact is that African labor markets are currently unable to absorb a vast and growing supply of workers.

How is the world really served by having a billion people under 18 and average IQ 70 in about the lower three-fifths of one continent? A billion people that are given to violent crime, out and outright tribal warfare, and whatever states of violence there are in between. And also, why are we in a hurry to create yet another mass cheap labor work force to suck industry away from the white world?

  • Truthseeker

I would love it if Africa were sealed off from the rest of the world and its people were forced to evolve. We can’t prop them up forever. Let them go, guilty Whites. If they don’t learn to succeed on their own, they’ll be dependent on us forever.

    • Whitetrashgang

Send the whole continent of Africa into space, one giant leap for mankind and so on.

      • Alexandra1973

Probably not. They got along fine before they met up with Whites. Likely their population will decrease, but I don’t think they’d go extinct.

        • bilderbuster

          Don’t be so negative.

          • Alexandra1973

I’m being realistic. LOL As I said in another post, as long as they’re in their *own* country/continent, I couldn’t care less.

If they do become extinct you know right well it’ll be time to “blame Whitey.”

          • Nancy

I wish you and I lived closer together, Alex. We could have a good time. God knows these neighbors of mine are fun people, but slow on the uptake, if you know what I mean.

  • Adolf Verloc

I may be dreaming, but I suspect that the current Ebola outbreak is a harbinger of things to come. We need to keep the particularly nasty plagues from spreading. The nice thing about AIDS was that it was largely behaviorally mediated.

    • bilderbuster

      It still is.

I guess you can say all that billions spent on food and medical aid to Africa was a success.

Not only did “we” feed them, but “we” helped them multiply by the millions.

    • Kenneth Arrow

      Brilliant!

Magnificent. Interfering with Darwin only LOOKS like kindness in the short-term. Long-term, it is selfish cruelty of the most disastrous variety.

      • Alexandra1973

Agreed. It’s nothing more than liberals trying to toot their own horn.

        • Neue Sachlichkeit

Absolutely. I don’t know if you’ve ever read the full Gulliver’s Travels, which goes well beyond Lilliput, and into some kind of deranged territory, but one part that has forever stuck with me is Our Hero’s encounter with a man from a tribe that wears ALL THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS written on little plaques hanging on themselves.

This man he meets is nearly crippled by the weight of this visible declaration of his achievements. He is fairly young but seems ancient because of how bowed over he is.

I often imagine such LOOK AT ME cartwheel-in-a-thong liberals the same way. Nearly broken in half by the weight of their own self-applied good guy badges–and proud of their disfigurement.

    • cherrie greenbaum123

That is just so cute!!! Look, their little hands are already out for the “gubsmuhdat”! Just precious!

    • Usually Much Calmer

We totally understand this when it involves wildlife.

Bambi is about as heartstring tugging as an anthropomorphized animal can get.

Yet states have agencies to administer natural resources and those agencies have population specialists who run complex models constantly and determine how many permits can be issued in each year and how many bucks can be killed and whether does can be killed at all. And all of this is perfectly executed as though commonplace, this data collecting and crunching and analyzing and feedback testing. That’s what the modern state excels at.

And our young, to gauge by the handwringing blog posts by foolish obsessives as well as experiments in institutional settings, natively relate to woodland creatures and are repulsed by black and brown children on the schoolyard, playground, and toy store.

A lot of dominoes are lined up to fall the right way, if fortune favors us.

I save and share many of your graphics, Bon. Thank you.

  • Bossman

There are over a billion Chinese and over a billion East Indians and many other types of Asians. So viewed from this angle, it is not so alarming if there are over a billion black Africans.

    • journey

Once again you missed the key issue. Vast differences in racial IQ/intelligence.
Blacks have never gone beyond the Stone Age.

      • Bossman

I wish I could cross-breed East Asians with black Africans to see what I could come up with. We already know that when we cross-breed Blacks with Mexicans and American Indians, the offspring are usually pretty and vivacious if they are female. I say this because many of the so-called black beauties of the past and present were of that type. Some examples: Leena Horne, Josephine Baker, Dorothy Dandridge, Beyoncè and maybe many more.

        • OS-Q

Yeah but looking good (after lots of work, makeup, and favorable camera angles) is a world different then building stuff, research, or respecting law and common decency.

          • journey

Bossman enjoys regularly posting nonsense just to be silly.

        • journey

Irrelevant. You keep hammering on the same points over and over. “Some examples” = those are rarities you mention.

“and maybe many more” = your qualifier “maybe”. And in general black gene pool = degrades the general gene pool.

        • FozzieT

And all of the golf courses in the world….

        • Teresa Nichols

You would get a retarded asian.

    • anew

There are already over a billion Africans. By 2050, there will be over a billion Africans under the age of 18. If this excess of Black Africans is absorbed by North Africa and the Middle East, and by Latin America (Europe should be pouching whites from Latin America—and the US, for that matter, and then telling them to make-up the difference with black immigration), then no, it’s not alarming. If they are allowed to pour into Europe and the Anglosphere, then yes, this is very alarming.

      • Bossman

Africa is far bigger than India or China so they still have room to grow. The problem with them is that they create violent and chaotic societies that are unsustainable. I don’t think that anybody has an easy answer to Africa’s problems

        • John R

Yes we do. Stop foreign aid. Famine, disease. Let nature take it’s course, and “cull the heard.”

        • journey

Room to grow? The blacks are outstripping their resources. Plus no IQ/intelligence to exist beyond the Stone Age.

    • dd121

      Why isn’t that angle alarming?

    • bilderbuster

Africans are useless and can’t even feed themselves.

    • Alexandra1973

As long as they stay in Africa and we have no contact with them, I couldn’t care less.

      • John R

If only, if only that were the case. Do you really believe that would ever happen? Too many blacks and their problems end up becoming our problems.

        • Alexandra1973

Realistically, it won’t happen because of the idiot bleeding-hearts.

In which case, I say ship *them* to Africa too.

    • John R

Dude. We don’t have to feed the Chinese and the Indians. And millions of them are not trying to invade our country and they don’t cause huge crime problems. Respectfully, please think about what you are writing. (I was polite, moderator.)

  • dd121

Not if Ebola, Marburg, AIDS have anything to say about it.

    • TruthBeTold

White people are doing everything they can to stop nature from doing what nature is trying to do.

      • dd121

        I’m afraid you’re right.

      • cherrie greenbaum123

It’s true. Nature has a beautiful way of culling the herd. Few see the beauty of what Ebola truly has to offer. Embrace it, Africans, don’t fight it, EMBRACE IT!

  • TruthBeTold

    More jobs?

Really. Where are these jobs going to come from? Are Africans, once their numbers increase, suddenly going to look around and say, ‘we have lots of workers. Let’s start building industries’.

    • John R

I know. That was hilarious! So, they didn’t have more industry before because they didn’t have enough unskilled people before? HUH???

    • me

Like in Nigeria, Kenya, Liberia, or South Africa….

  • journey

Takes brains to create jobs which only an advanced society can accomplish. So, somehow blacks will magically change with increase in IQ due to an explosion in population. How about some hard core reality by pushing for birth control? Nigeria is Muslin = multiple “wives” as breeders.

  • JohnEngelman

More angry youth. Computer technology increases the relationship between income and intelligence.

    • Usually Much Calmer

    • IstvanIN

How? There are plenty of feral blacks that can use a computer.

      • Neue Sachlichkeit

If by “Use a computer” you mean “Interrupt Neue Sachlichkeit constantly at work, because “their” computer is “broke” (does not permit Facebook access)….yeah, they’re great at that.

Other brilliant conversations about computer science included gems like, “How you did that?” after watching me make a shortcut on the desktop named EMAIL in all caps, in the hopes they’d stop asking me how to open their email, and “Why it won’t play music?” They did not like my explanation that these machines had no speakers and no sound cards. I’ll leave their descriptive term of choice about this clearly bizarre policy to your imagination.

(Have you even NOTICED you’re at work on a business machine, on the production floor of a high-tech…..right. Never mind).

Ah, how I love my new, lower-paid but less-stressful job. Now the blacks ask me far less fascinating questions, like “Does that say 5 or 6?” meaning, the perfectly normal wall clock pointing at 6pm.

I did get a bit of a shock on the way out today. “When do time end?” Took me awhile to drag some sense out of him on that one, for a second there, I thought a black was asking me about philosophy, metaphysics, or perhaps quantum mechanics. No, actually it translated to, “What day does the new pay period begin?”

And that’s when I can understand more than one word in twenty.

How I wish I was making up all of the above.

      • me

        Yup…

  • bilderbuster

LOL! Like Boko Haram can feed them!
If left to their own devices the Africans and Mother Nature could produce a sustainable African population soon enough.

  • JInSanD

“fertility rates fall due to better health outcomes”

This applies to Africans about as much as it applies to rats and cockroaches.

  • John Ambrose

These projected global shifts in demographics are completely unnatural. By 1960, after many millennia of natural selection Europeans comprised one quarter of the world’s population; the Chinese another quarter; black Africans were less than ten percent of the total.

    • joe pat

And then the marxists backed by the global bankers hatched a plan…

  • John R

Oh please! African birthrates will fall as their economy grows? Come on! Give me a break. Negroes behave the same everywhere: They just keep popping out more and more babies, indiscriminately, regardless of economics. The only thing that will limit African numbers is famine and mass starvation and disease. And most unskilled manufacturing jobs are remaining in Asia? Well, DUH! I wonder why? You need at least a basic IQ to do any manufacturing job, which blacks don’t possess. Gosh, we really need to educate people.

    • LHathaway

Discount Africans the same way business leaders discounted Asians 40 or 50 years ago and see where that will get you?

      • Human-Stupidity.com

There are 2 types of racism

        a) Germans vs Polish, Protestants vs Catholic, despising Jews and Chinese. This is envy for their equal or superior success, and dislike for their differences

        b) racism towards Blacks, which has to do with lower IQ and higher criminality and, thusly, lower success in life.

  • Stan D Mute

Who will feed them? Who will treat their diseases? Who will pay for their infrastructure? The West is already bankrupt and Chinese show little interest in missionary work.

Africa’s population will self-stabilize via famine and disease as it has for the past 100,000 years. The West will interfere and ultimately cause *many* unnecessary deaths by enabling fertility *much* higher than Africans can support on their own. This is tragic.

Even more tragic, the West will import many more “refugees” who will, through crime and disease, inflict horrific suffering on white Western populations. Proof that in the case of dealing with Africans at least, “no good deed will go unpunished.”

  • Caucasoid88

When we have to begin taking care of our own in this country, millions upon millions of Africans will die. The last outspoken liberals on earth will say our indifference is racist. And then a couple scraggly “teens” will beat the liberal to death and steal his shekels.

  • Douglas Quaid

The closest African nations have come to breaking into first world status was under European colonialism. Ever since it was universally decided that Colonialism was evil, even the African nations that were performing moderately well under European tutelage have tumbled headfirst back into third world status.

Anyone who is naive enough to believe that somehow Africa will emulate China because it will have a large pool of cheap labor to manufacture goods in factories, is a damn fool.
Nothing on Earth is more abundant than cheap labor. Cheap labor, or rather the availability of a near starving mass population willing to work for peanuts, has never but never somehow, magically, created ‘wealth’ out of the thin air by itself.
No the secret of Chinese success was brains, hard work, and sheer will power and determination, coupled with good management and obedience – all qualities that black Africans signally lack and will never but never have.
Of course, the outcome will be truly massive uncontrolled black African immigration into Europe and north America, to the point where these regions effectively become black and African too. Count on it. It WILL happen because the political class wants it to happen – they couldn’t give a damn about what you think or your objections. The politicians will push it through – don’t doubt this for a second.

    • Teresa Nichols

Yes. And now there is some movement in the libtard camps about “Universal Basic Income” (UBI) where everyone will get an income for doing nothing on a permanent basis. If the invaders are attracted to the US now for its benefits, you can imagine where this will lead us.

  • kjh64

The awful ‘Whitey’ raaaycis’ should have no trouble keeping the dusky hordes out of their countries…..it’s truly a mystery why they want to live next to us bad ol’ oppressors.
I think that all people, including the African people, should be free to have self-determination without outside interference. The Africans rejected White colonists, so we should listen to them….no more White interference.

China’s already there, and building gated, segregated communities. The Africans are complaining about how the Chinese aren’t like the Whites, and don’t build housing, schools, hospitals, etc. They’re just there to displace the Africans. They treat the Africans much worse than the Africans were ever treated by Whites…..hee hee.

“Some examples: Leena Horne, Josephine Baker, Dorothy Dandridge, Beyoncè”

They were and are White black mixes, not mexican or indian. Josephine Baker was not at all pretty, she was not average she was moderately ugly and did not have even a particularly good figure, or legs, she just wasn’t chubby. Horne and Dandridge were very pretty but they were mostly White. In fact, when Dandridge first got started her agents and studio planned to pass her off as a White brunette.

You’ve gone back 100 years for those 3, can’t you find some more recent examples? As far as Beyonce, what with plastic surgery, liposuction wigs, and hours of the best make up artisans in the country, more hours of flattering lighting set ups, who knows what she really looks like.

But the point is Bossman, all those women are mostly White mixes, not mexican or indian. What’s your point anyway? If it is that there are attractive, pretty and beautiful black women around that is true and I will be the first to admit I have seen attractive, pretty, almost beautiful black women in daily life at work and around town.

    So what?
