Police said they found a 25-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds. Family identified the victim as Sal Schittino.

“We’re distraught. It’s really shocking,” Greg Will said.

Will is Schittino’s brother in law. He said Schittino was returning to a friend’s house after getting a pizza when he was attacked and robbed. One of the attackers approached the victim, assaulted him and took his wallet and personal belongings.

Investigators are searching for four black men between the ages of 16-18 who had been riding on mopeds.

He was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

“It’s hitting his liver, collapsing his lung and puncturing his heart twice,” Will said.

Will said Schittino works as a mental health care provider at Shepherd Pratt.

“He’s just a very friendly person and he wants to be everybody’s friend and he’s nice to everybody and it’s just stunning that this would happen to someone as nice as him,” Will said.

“He nearly died. Luckily, he was young (and in) very good shape,” Will said.

His family said he was lucky to be close to a hospital.

“If this could happen to Sal, this could happen to anybody. He’s a really good person, and we want to get the people that done this off the streets so that they don’t do it again,” Will said.
