Martinsville Councilwoman Offended by Quilt Students Presented as Gift to City Council

Justin Ward, WDBJ7, April 25, 2013

A city councilwoman says a quilt made by a group of students should not be allowed to hang in the Martinsville City administration building.

She says the quilt is offensive to African Americans.

But the students who made it say it showcases what they learned working on a special project.

It was supposed to be a nice gesture from students at the Piedmont Governor’s School in Martinsville.

Each student made a quilt square.

But one representing their journey learning about the area with a black stick figure offended councilwoman Sharon Brooks-Hodge.

Here’s what happened:

“We got to walk across the Philpott Dam and the small black person represents us before we learned all the information and then the bigger gold person is how he feels after he’s been enriched with all the different knowledge,” a student said as she showed the quilt to council members.

The student started explaining another quilt square when Councilwoman Hodge had a comment.

“Excuse me. Um, why is the small black person the negative image?” Hodge said.

“It’s not negative. It’s just showing how much we increased,” was the student’s response, to which Hodge replied: “I take offense to that.”

“I didn’t mean to make it offensive,” another student said.

“Whoever reviewed that to make a small black person the before and the gold which you are afterwards, considering you only talked to 10 percent of black people in a city that’s 45 percent African-American, I take offense to that and I hope that you do not display that,” Hodge said.

One student started crying and a teacher explained the black figure had nothing to do with race.

The students still gave the quilt to the city.

We’re told it will stay in an office until city council makes a decision whether or not to hang it up.

If it does get approved, it will have a disclaimer describing the quilt square.

im offended that stores had to close early and managers had to hire security to walk workers to their cars this weekend because blacks went to virginia beach and trashed the place acting like the animals they are.

    • IstvanIN

Virginia Beach police are investigating three shootings, a stabbing, several robberies, an assault and an argument in which two people were injured by a thrown bottle.

      • Erasmus

Only three shootings, a stabbing and several robberies? Sounds like a big improvement over last year.

        • This is just a prelim to the festivities. There were also plenty of beatdowns and otherwise harrassment of white folk who ventured too close. Remember, the “Pilot” has a politcy to not report the truth about black shananagens.

Cassandra made a LOT of coin this weekend. But now her neck is really sore.

Seriously, how many of us have had carefully composed posts go “poof” into the ether, and this spam is still here hours later? Is Mod hanging out at Takimag?

I’m a quilter and I know how much work goes into one. Refusing this gift from the students is the height of bad manners. The children’s feelings were hurt and they will never forget how they were treated by the City Council and Councilwoman Hodge. Good thing they’re too young to vote or that would be the last term she would ever serve.

    • StillModerated

I hope they never forget how petty knee grows can be when they either get uppity or elected.

      • the ice queen

        I didn’t post this.

        Ice Queen

    • The__Bobster

Well, they have voting parents, don’t they?

      • mobilebay

You’re right, Bobster. I should have thought of the parents. Hope the kids told them of the treatment they received and the parents followed through.

      • Mike Harrigan

True Bob. Probably a small percent of White parents will no longer vote for this petty woman. But I’d bet there will be far more blacks who put down their 40’s and go register to vote, so they can support her, for “dissing” a bunch of White kids.

    • Morris LeChat

well, THIS is when the students REALLY learned about RACE. I hope what they take away from this is that blacks are ridiculous creatures that should NEVER be pandered to.

      • archer

Sure let’s take all that hard work and inventiveness and shove it down a toilet, maybe now those kids will connect why Obumma don’t want to fund NASA.

        • joegoofinoff

I detest anyone who criticises people who do work of any sort, unless it’s constructive criticism.

        • america 3.0

Oh, he’s still funding it. It’s just that its mission has changed to “making muslims feel better about their contributions to math and science.”

      • TheAntidote

Also demonstrates to the kids that Negroes have deep seated feelings of inferiority and self-doubt.
Their incredible hyper sensitivity may signal that on some level they accept they cannot cut the ice in modern society—but they are unconvinced the charade of “colour blindness” and equality have been successfully inculcated into society at large.

    • The Ice Queen

I both sew and draw, and I understand what you mean. I’m surprised no one mentioned that the block figure is a silhouette, not like the 19th century silhouettes, but the common block figures seen on road signs for example. Always black.

This woman needs to be taken to task for what she said and did to those kids.

      • StillModerated

I wouldn’t expect any grovelling apology from this low grade politico.

      • Erasmus

I’m surprised no one mentioned that the block figure is a silhouette, not like the 19th century silhouettes, but the common block figures seen on road signs for example.

BINGO! Plus, they could have added that even deep inside every YT is a black man just waiting to get out…if that’s what it took to put a cork in her pie hole…what a disgusting bee-yotch.

    • Debbie Johnson

I hope the council member gives it back. I’m sure these kids meant well, but cast not they pearls before swine. These young kids need to give that quilt to maybe an elderly WHITE woman. Maybe someone in a nursing home or just some older white woman who lives alone. Maybe this quilt would keep her warm on cold nights?

Most blacks are ungrateful. They’re a bottomless pit of whining. You’ll never satisfy them, no matter what you do. All white could drop dead tomorrow and they’d still bitch and moan about what whitey did, FOREVER.

  • sbuffalonative

I read this story this morning and it only confirmed what I’ve always said. When it comes to blacks, you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

These kids wanted to make a gesture of racial harmony and what did they get? Scorn and derision.
This is one reason I avoid blacks. Any contact opens you to charges of racism. A single word or phrase, no matter how innocent or well mean, can be turned against you.

    I do like this:

Despite Hodge’s negative attitude toward the local educational system, and her expressed interest in returning to a more segregated and defined time of black and white, a former African-American student of the Piedmont Governor’s School might beg to differ.

    Comedian Tracy Morgan in drag:

    • StillModerated

If there’s one thing I detest more than an uppity black, it’s a White liberal who kisses black ass.

      • Erasmus

Just as so many others have said, best to stay away from the bantus altogether.

    • Ryan Kennedy

took the words outta my mouth. It’s funny to see white liberals come up with some diversity-cheerleading idea and see it used against them. White liberals don’t get it that blacks are looking for any excuse to be offended. Best policy for a white a white who wants to keep his job is to avoid the topic of race in the work-place at all costs.

    • Dr. X

“When it comes to blacks, you’re damned if you do and damned if you
don’t.” Amen to THAT. I figured out a long time ago that no matter WHAT a white person does, it can — nay, WILL — somehow be construed as racist or offensive. My solution: Just avoid ’em ALL. According to my calculations, blacks are 13% of the population. There is nothing — NOTHING — that I need in life that I cannot get from the other 87%.

    • She has a webpage about her.!

She is Executive Director of the Black Family Preservation Group Inc.

      • IstvanIN

??? how can one preserve that which doesn’t exist?

        • TheAntidote

          Lol. Bingo.

      • Shawn_thefemale

        They have familes?

    • dogbone

The statement under her in that picture has a missing punctuation mark. It should say “We are F’ed up”

  • Puggg

I fail to see what’s supposed to be offensive about it.

    • Morris LeChat

Does anyone else see the parallels between this incident and the episode of south park where the Chef takes offense at their town flag?

    • It’s not offensive at all. The darky is just using this opportunity to PUT WHITEY in his place.

    • Eddie Murphy in “The Golden Child”.

    • dd121

Easy. It was done by whites to pander, at least in part, to negroes. They hate us and will show their hatred at every opportunity. Let this be a teachable moment, girls: stay the hell away from all bantus, they can’t be trusted on any level.

  • Tim

It looks to me like a Black Dude casing an apartment thru a sliding glass door. But I`m just a bartender, what do I know?!?

    • Tim

Whoops that was bottom right, my bad! I didn`t offend anyone, did I?

    • Yeah, I saw that too. I’m surprised she wasn’t complaining about the black guy breaking into the apartment.

    • brengunn

Stop, you’ve nearly killed me laughing here!

    • It is a black dude casing an apartment in the bottom right.

    • Dogbone

I thought it has a peeping negro

  • These kids were trying to demonstrate their journey of learning and the elected official zeroes in on the color of a stick figure in the quilt. Darkness has often been a metaphor for lack of knowledge or ignorance. Ironically this woman’s skin now fits the bill. She has become the very thing she was criticizing in the quilt – an ignorant black figure. This woman created a racial issue where none existed. Even if she was offended, she had to know there was no malicious intent and that these are school kids trying to do something nice by presenting a quilt to the city government. Blacks will always find something to complain about. If that isn’t enough reason to stop catering to them, I don’t know what is.

    • So CAL Snowman

      Micro-aggressions for a micro-brain!

    • Erasmus

This woman created a racial issue where none existed.

That’s the entire nature of the left from the blacks, to the gays, to everyone else. Stir up shti not because you care to ameliorate a situation but only to seize power.

  • The__Bobster

“Whoever reviewed that to make a small black person the before and the gold which you are afterwards, considering you only talked to 10 percent of black people in a city that’s 45 percent African-American, I take offense to that and I hope that you do not display that,” Hodge said.

I seems that whenever a city has a significant minority population, you will have uppity, easily “offended” Nubian Queens in positions of authority,

    • america 3.0

She also has a problem with speech — that’s some interesting syntax displayed there.

  • BernieGoetzFan

Only blacks do things like this. A bunch of kids try and do something nice and this racist creature hectors and berates them. If they didn’t know how blacks were before they certainly will now.
That being said, they shouldn’t cry and whine but fight back and defend themselves instead.

  • thoughtcrime

Can we say OVER SENSITIVITY!!!! Next blacks will take offense to the fact that fecal matter shares the exact same color as their typical skin tone…and that urine has a similar smell to their sweat…oops. Did I just say that out loud? LOL

But in all seriousness, I am surprised they haven’t started demanding that all printed material no longer uses black ink if they words written in the ink have any negative connotations.

    • Erasmus

Next blacks will take offense to the fact that fecal matter shares the exact same color as their typical skin tone…

I have often wondered if that doesn’t sometimes run through their brains. As a sign of racial sensitivity we should stop flushing away fecal matter. Plus, isn’t it racist that most toilets, sinks and bathtubs are white?

  • American Tax Payer

I’da told her, ‘well, this is America and you certainly have a Right to be offended just as much as I have a Right to offend you’.

I think we should experiment with the non-whites. Let’s never back down, never be sensitive and never apologize and see what happens.

For me personally, if I were in charge, I’d deport people who are that easily offended since America was not built for weak minded little weanies.

    • Erasmus

Agreed. The problem is that people who are naïve project. They assume that they wouldn’t act like she did unless they were really offended and so they must have done something wrong. IOW, the better person gives the cynical manipulator the benefit of the doubt when he shouldn’t.
Those of us who are aware have learned not to ascribe our generous sentiments to manipulators and liars.

      • American Tax Payer

That’s what I don’t understand. Unless you call someone a nasty name or did something bad to them, how could you believe you did something offensive just because they say you did?

I’m afraid those kids won’t see blacks for how they really are. I fear they will believe that what they did was “bad” and will work to be more sensitive to them and try to be friends with them. I hope not but I’m afraid they will ’cause I know the Teacher will never tell them the truth about why that black acted black.

    • henry

If I were in that council room I would have politely asked, “Do I have to stand here and listen to such an ignoramus?”

      • American Tax Payer

I stopped being patient towards non-whites quite some time ago. After obama, they’ve become insufferably rude so I’ve given back what they give.

I’m also tired of hearing them say how we need to be sensitive to them and how we need to think about what we’re saying and to that I say, ABSOLUTELY NOT! You gotta give sensitivity before you can receive it.

        • Debbie Johnson

          Hear, hear ATP

Many years ago, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. No more, if they can dish it out, then they can take it.

          • American Tax Payer

I can be polite to anyone but I won’t allow anyone to treat me badly. I can take scolding from my own People but not from any non-white.

As for the blacks specifically, I’ve had a few bad experiences with blacks but I’ve also found that when you let them know that you ain’t the one, they respect that and will actually stop their nonsense but this also comes with them being the minority. That would change in an instant if there were enough blacks around instead of Whites I’m sure.

  • So CAL Snowman

In other news, Crayola Co. is officially discontinuing production of all crayons citing the fact that black people have officially declared all use of color to be inherently racist.

    • FYI – they did drop the color “flesh” for just that reason.

    • Erasmus

Do they make band-aids now that are of a duskier hue? I’ve thought it must be racist that almost all of band-aids not festooned with children’s cartoons are flesh colored.

      • dogbone

        Band-Aids be raciss.

      • Spartan24708

I have seen clear band aids. For some reason the darker skin tone bandages didn’t sell so Johnson and Johnson was forced to discontinue production.

That low-IQ, negress drama queen should be chastised, censured, ostracized and humiliated. But only after she publicly apologizes for feigning outrage for the sake of racial political correctness. Then I’d make her take an IQ test and publish the results.

This is the kind of person I would be tempted to spit on. But I have too much respect for my saliva to waste it in that manner.

They can be chastised, censured and ostracized. However, they can not be humiliated, since they have no shame to speak of.

    • brengunn

Then I’d make her take an IQ test and publish the results.

This is one of the funniest threads in a while. Several blinding posts that have reduced me to tears laughing!

    • dogbone

Thousands of qualified white engineers are out of work, but blacks like this woman keep getting government money.

  • bigone4u

Several of my friend and myself have had confrontations with blacks because somebody in our group said the word “boy” in an innocuous context. Likewise, I had a black guy want to beat my a** because a woman friend spoke the word “negro” in the context of a pro-civil rights book title. These people are always looking to be offended and looking for trouble. Avoid them.

    • Erasmus

      Yes. AVOID THEM.

  • Intrepid

The councilwoman probably doesn’t even realize what she did caused more harm than good. These students aren’t likely to be more tolerant after a nice gesture on their part was scorned so brutally.

Blacks see race in absolutely everything.

  • Anon

Good. These libtard girls got the short course about what blacks are really like. They smugly felt superior to others and altruistic for getting on their knees and worshiping an evil race. Their thoughts are very much that they are better than others for being able to look beyond the bad things blacks do and still see something of worth. Then got a good dose of mistreatment at the hands of those they would bow down to.

Get used to it. Libtards have betrayed us all and turned their back on all that is decent and good in order to worship their evil idol of the black race. Their god is a cruel and wicked one who delights in harming them at every turn.

They DESERVED what they got. And likely learned nothing. Maybe one of them cried because of her mistreatment but let me tell you something…she’d turn into a screaming shebolith if I so much as dared say a thing about the bad behavior of the councilwoman.

Which is pretty much the crux of the issue. Worship of evil is a big part of what this is about. But hatred of, well, ME (a white christian MAN) is a much larger part. These girls nee their white christian men to protect them from abusive and evil blacks. Instead, they turned their backs on us and got down on the floor to grovel at their feet. I might be inclined to do something about that…..if there was any point. If they were grateful and thankful for it. If they even wanted it.

    • Andy

They’re just kids who have been brainwashed their whole lives. There but for the grace of God go we.

      • Erasmus

They are learning. A harsh way to learn, but these kids are now learning.

  • MekongDelta69

I watched that ENTIRE video (unfortunately for me) and I thought I was watching something out of a North Vietnamese “Re-education” Camp.

The only bright spot were the comments under the original article. Going on 50 years now, the more and more people come into ACTUAL contact with REAL blacks and realize just how dumb and perpetually ‘offended’ they pretend to be, the more and more they will wake up.

As an experiment, next time you go to the zoo, try to rationalize with the chimp behind those bars. Other than maybe jumping up and down, screeching and throwing a banana peel at you, they don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. It’s not even in their consciousness to realize what you’re doing or saying.

That’s how it would be talking to that idiot on the City Council.
That’s how it is talking to most of them…

    • Katherine McChesney

I played the video but the sound was missing.

    • dogbone

“MD69 wrote -The only bright spot were the comments under the original article. Going

No they won’t. The more they encounter black behavior, the more they will look for that one white male that they can blame for causing blacks to be that way. This country is the way it is because most of the white people are idiots. Idiots don’t suddenly get smarter when you hit them with something. If that was the case, Rodney King and the rest of the blacks would be geniuses.

  • The Ice Queen

First of all, that woman is a selfish child.

Secondly, I’m surprised no one brought up the fact that this is a Silhouette, a representation of someone or something showing the shape and outline only, typically colored in solid black, or the dark shape and outline of someone or something visible in restricted light against a brighter background.

    • evilsandmich

      • MikeS

Right you are! Another one could be “Can you believe this “person” (councilwoman Hodge’s photo taped to the quilt right next to the offending square) insulted and made a child cry over this f’n square?

Translation of Ms Hodge’s remarks :

“I don’t want no piece of sewn together garbage made by WHITE people! You come to me looking for afbolooshun fo you WHITENESS and the suffrin you WHITE people cause my black people an you ain’t goin to git dat from me! Is there really any other kind? I mean really, aren’t they all like this, it just takes some of them longer to reveal it.

Councilwoman Hodge has done more to make these girls race realists than anyone else possibly could have, so I guess all’s well that ends well.

      I hope so.

Another hypersensitive Black trying to Mau Mau Whites. And, weak seed Whites will cave in and apologize instead of telling this creep to stuff it.

May I suggest that the quilt be replaced by the Confederate flag.

    • Room101

      Roger that.

How about the South Park flag? It shows a rainbow coalition lynching a black stick figure. Heritage not hate!

And this African’t has an official address; Brooks Hodge, City of Martinsville, Virginia
P.O. Box Box 1112 55 West Church St. Martinsville, VA 24112.

Send it a rebel flag postcard and sign it Nate Higgers!

      • Bull Connor

        Nate Higgers!!! I love it!

  • Andy

How interesting that she thinks white people are “gold”. The Swahili word for “to know”, by the way, is the same as “sun” (“jua”). Everyone all over associates darkness with ignorance and brightness with knowledge.

    • American Tax Payer

And even more interesting how it’s actually true.

  • Andy

I hate how she says they “only talked to ten percent of black people”… People talk about blacks like they’re morally superior to whites. If blacks agree, it makes your point. Not only that, the “city that’s forty-five percent black” comment makes no sense. She clearly doesn’t understand how percents work. If it had been a ten percent black city and they talked to ten percent of the city’s blacks, it wouldn’t have been any more representative of the group.

  • guest

People like her just have to find something to feel offended about and for her to act that way to young kids who worked so hard to make something for her and with good intentions, that was completely out of line.

  • LastBastionOfHope

The black sob story continues. Oh it must be so hard. 150 years removed from slavery but apparently it was just yesterday. All those hardships they faced like affirmative action, black only schools, black only scholarships, black student unions, insane amounts of white outreach in Africa and inner cities in the US, black only channels, black caucus, NAACP, and best of all: the ability to use the race card. It’s like a golden card they are born with…dare I say with their black privilege.

I think we need to start having “Thick skin 101” courses to toughen these poor victims up and teach them to suck it up and move on because no one cares.

  • Notice how blacks are always ‘offended’ or think they’re ‘disrespected’, regardless of the situation?

This ‘so-called’ offense is always their justification to act like animals….and of course, blame Whites.

Whites need to ‘wake up’ and stop allowing them to get away with bad behavior without consequences.

  • tickyul

Maybe the Councilwoman was afraid that if she accepted the quilt….it might make her district tip over?

  • Ralph

Send that councilwoman to Guam, on the rocket that let us go and walk on Mars, and maybe the island will tip over with her on it.

    Blacks are so bright.

  • IstvanIN

They are always offended because they are too ignorant to understand the subtleties of language and art.

  • Uhm….stick figures are almost ALWAYS BLACK. I drew them with my pencil in school or my BLACK pen. I’m sorry I didn’t have a white pencil or a white pen. That would mean I’d have to write on a black sheet of paper…which would probably offend her in some weird way.

Everyone should email city council and tell them that they need to put that quilt up and that their fellow city councilman is a moron.

    • Erasmus

Pencil lead and stick figures are racist. Clearly a plot by the evil YT’s to pull one over on a brother.

Stick figures are normally black. You now have to undo all the stick figures ever drawn.

  • Angry White Woman

Oh for goodness sake! There was a black stick figure on the quilt. Well if the stick figure had been white, this idiot would have been squalling that the quilt was insulting to black people because there were no blacks represented. I’m sorry these girls were hurt and insulted for no good reason, but I also hope they remember this, interpret it correctly and internalize it, thus giving them at least a small measure of racial realism. A few more incidents of this sort might even bring them over to our side.

Blacker markers, white paper, and the childrens that use them be racciss n sheeit.

  • AugustusAlexander

Ahh so the black person is what people look like before they gain Knowledge, sounds realistic except that people do not turn gold once they become enriched.

  • IKantunderstand

I cannot even begin to express my outrage at this disrespect shown to a White people craft. What ever happened to the precepts of cultural Marxism? You know, all cultures are equal? Well, we already know they are not. All White people culture, sucks, according to the Zeitgeist. We are supposed to pretend that ugly art, and shrill discordant music, is equal to the melodic tones of Beethoven and Mozart. We are supposed to be impressed by Arabic and Chinese literature. Oh wait, there isn’t any! Somebody is going to criticize American folk art, really, because of the competition presented by all those Muslim artisans, and all those Blacks who make quilts? Seriously? I am so done with this crap. I want to fight. Now. And by that, I mean, metaphorically. Because of course, being genteel, and erudite, has always won armed conflicts.

    Here’s how blacks think:

Oh a white person did something nice for me? Must be some evil conspiracy from those white devil snakes!

Oh a white person did not agree with me? Must be an evil white devil racist!

Oh a white person looked at me? Must be because I’m black! Damn racists!

Lesson: don’t bother…you cannot win with black people. It’s like a rigged game. You will never win, so stop trying. Everything is rerouted back to “racism”…it doesn’t even have to be logical or make sense. It’s time we pull the plug on Africa, diversity programs, black history month, etc. and just focus on our own like homogeneous countries who actually have pride in their people.

    Blacks really do suck!

A magnum of malt liquor says council woman and water buffalo, Sharon Brooks-Hodge, is desperate to make a name for herself. I am sick to death of all these “sensitive” and “caring” people like Ms. Brooks-Hodge stirring up shti for their own political gain.

  • josh

The little black guy is rather amusing!

Perhaps the best response that Councilnegress Hodge could give to this “racist” quilt would be to respond in kind with a quilt of her own. Rather than making well-meaning white children cry, maybe Hodge should show them how to make a quilt with a more “positive” message. A depiction of the black stick figure and the gold stick figure holding hands, for instance? Or, if that’s too cliché, maybe the black stick figure throttling the gold stick figure’s neck? Yes, that sounds more contemporary.

Oh wait, I forgot, blacks don’t do crafts. Too much like work, I suppose. Their race’s “creativity” is limited to dreaming up an limitless supply of imaginative new ways to lay guilt trips on Whitey; and then extorting the appropriate gibsmedats as “reparations.”

Welcome to the new American past time: Being Offended. Offending in the 1st Degree is now an offense punishable by Lifetime Repentance and Apologies. Whites, of course, are the only humans who can commit this crime.

  • Spartan24708

It’s a beautiful quilt and the entitled, racist witch who said this to these poor girls needs to apologize, not that this will happen any time soon.

You can find racism under a rock if you want: The underside of a rock is dark; the dark side is down; ergo the rock is racist.

Liberal Whites are like that lion tamer who believes his caged lions will not hurt him. After all, it purrs and seems affectionate when fed it and cared for. Nevertheless, one day, the lion tamer lets his guard down and the lion strikes out at him, often with fatal consequences. What the lion tamer failed to remember is the lion is a wild animal and no matter how it appears; it can never be domesticated.

One day, White liberals will learn their beloved diversity is not their friend. It’s only a matter of time until they turn on you, no matter how hard you try to placate them.

Jigaboos are so petty. That’s why they can never be human. They will never be ubermensch. Black people’s brains are 15 cubic centimeters smaller than whites and asians, that’s why they are offended by everything. Even a compliment is taken by them as a slight. In the documentary “A Conversation about Race” a few of the black people being interviewed said that when white people act “too nice” to them, it is a form of racism.

I watched the entire presentation and the councilwoman’s behavior was outrageous and despicable. This uppity buffoon should have been immediately expelled from the room after her rude, uncalled for, and downright stupid remarks. Instead, she was treated with kid gloves by the all white city council, who obviously did not want to offend this black jack ass who would find racism in a deck of cards. I too expressed my outrage by emailing her at [email protected]. Tried to call her phone at (336) 580 3163 but, surprise, her mailbox is full. I hope many others will join me in sending emails, calling and writing her to express your views. Sharon Brooks hodge 203 Greyson St Martinsville VA 24112.

The student should have stated right back that she found the behavior of this black politician “offensive”.

Where was this idiot council-douchebag’s indignation towards the Japanese for showing the smart person as yellow? That is offensive to all people with yellow skin. Con artist and race boogie-man, that what she is.

  • Paleoconn

A lot of respect for that young man who went up on his own to defend his quilt in front of that raging bully. I like his ‘well, what color do you recommend we use’ (o wise one).

Respect for the elderly council member who did not let the black bully interrupt his question. I’m asking the questions!

One thing that strikes me is how this woman pretends to be about polling people and getting many opinions (even though the school is 10% black), then states that because she (a single black person) is offended, the patch should be removed. Unbelievable hypocrisy within one argument. How about if the community was 90% black but the school ‘only’ 66%, would that not be enough?

What would have blown her mind is if the kids had said ‘actually, the golden person represents our President’. I would have loved to see that.

Finally, I am happy that the kids were roundly applauded and well-received and the bully left to appear like the miserable crank she is. Although, small quibble, I don’t like the mustachioed councilman addressing them as ‘you guys’. The right was is ‘boys and girls’ or ‘young men and women’ or even the tried and true ‘you all’.
