Fox Sports Cancels Show that Mocked Asians at USC

Los Angeles Times, September 8, 2011

Fox Sports has canceled “The College Experiment” after the show aired a Pac-12 segment, shot at USC, that critics say mocked Asian students.

The segment was “clearly offensive and inconsistent with the standards FOX Sports believes in, and we sincerely regret that it appeared,” Fox Sports Network spokesman Lou D’Ermilio said in a statement. He said the show would be canceled immediately.

The segment was first reported by the Daily Camera newspaper in Boulder, Colo., and quoted an ethnic-studies professor as saying that the segment was demeaning to millions of Asian Americans and perpetuates negative stereotypes of the minority group as foreigners.

USC Asians knew nothing about college football.

    ————————————

I’m White and I know nothing about college football, or just football in general. I’m guilty. Throw me in jail NOW.

There was nothing in the video that mocks Asians. It was a harmless video. Fox Sports over-reacts and cancels the show because of a video. What does this have to do with Asians or White nationalism?

  • Justin

Good for the Asians for not buying into the whole college football cult. They’re probably too busy getting their Electrical Engineering degrees to think about something as pointless as college football.

I went to a SEC school as an undergraduate and was absolutely sickened by my fellow Whites’ obsession with college football. I asked them “Are you there to get an education or to obsess about some Black guys in spandex run a ball around a field?”

  • Anonymous

White/Caucasian here. I think the Asians look absolutely *FANTASTIC* in this video, in the sense that none of them know anything about the college football team and instead are focusing, most correctly, on developing themselves for their future careers. Watching and following college football is a waste of time, that’s for low-IQ losers (like that interviewer) to ooh and ahh while the successful ones are properly hitting the books.

Contrast that to most whites who would be ignoring their studies while probably being able to name most players on the football team. No wonder USC is Asian-dominated–good for them.

There is no way you can “mock” Asian students for focusing on developing themselves and ignoring college football–good for them, their complete ignorance of the topic is a badge of honor to be proud of.

How is it demeaning or racist to show everyday Asians, on a campus and in a region they now dominate, and interviewing them about an innocent topic? That’s just how they are!

I live around a lot of Asians. They all have accents, even if they were born here, and they look and sound that way. So just being the way they are is embarrasing to them? You can’t show your true face because it may make other people respect you less?

And if they go to a major college in the nation, and can’t really see or find any whites, how is it racist against the majority there to interview the population you find?

FOX has standards? That’s news to me.

These oriental folks speak for themselves during this clip. How is that offensive? A further example of the bizarro country we now live in.

  • Kingoldby

Seems to me that the Asians are being shown as bright, hardworking types with more important things to do than bother about a football team.

And this is offensive to them?

How pathetic to cancel a show because of such overblown hysterical oversensitivity. This emotional hysteria has gone way too far.

I’m no fan of put downs and making fun of people. Also I’m sure FoxSports will have anti-white features as well. As NFL season begins this week (and college recently began)let it be said that America, White America has become way too sports crazy. See the latest Stuff Black People Don’t Like for examples.

I think a healthy culture should to some extent be pro-nerd and in this it is interesting to see that Asians can be “Out of the Loop” when it comes to Sports and other inane Pop Cultural obsessions.

That said the video is very scary in that Asians are dominating the elite Universities. Immigration and our own people is what we should be focusing on, not the Afro dominated football world.

We are constantly told that Asians are a “model minority.” And I suppose that when compared to the problems posed by Hispanics, Muslims, and blacks that may be true. But as that recent footage of the basketball brawl posted here on Amren proves, Asians can be incredibly ethnocentric and hostile. Throughout history the Japanese and Chinese have brutalized their proxies, though don’t expect leftists professors to harp on the brutality of the “yellow man.”

  • madison grant

Have whites become so clueless that they’re making fun of Asian students for studying instead of endlessly watching sports?

While the Asians are learning skills the white dopes are worshipping thuggish black athletes and making them millionaires.

  • Lauren

Well, if they’d asked my kids anything about Sports, they’d get a stream of obscenities and insults (their hatred for the Jocks at their old Private School knows no bounds). At least the Asians were polite. My kids would say something like “I have no idea what you’re talking about, and nobody but total LOSERS give a flyin'(ugly word) about that stupid (ugly word)”.

I wouldn’t be polite, either, although I’d skip the obscenities, and go with a withering sneer, accompanied by “Get AWAY from me!”

DH actually HAS been asked a sports question, and responded with a crisply enunciated four-letter acronym starting with ‘F’. Probably because of his Upper-Body-Mass and threatening posture, the News Crew beat a retreat. Both of us signed petitions to get Athletics thrown off Tulane’s campus. In our eyes, Sports did nothing but bring (black) thieves and rapists onto campus.

GOOD FOR THE ASIANS! (At least in this respect) Sports have no place on campus. And frankly, Asians are more competitive than are we, because their young minds were not sidetracked by worthless diversions. White kids could be just as bright, if they were not led down so many blind alleys… having their time wasted with foolishness.

These Asians don’t come off as ludicrous to me at all. The fool here appears to be the ‘Reporter’. The kid in the black glasses was looking at that reporter in the way my husband regards an Insect: something incapable of learning or reasoning, and responsive only to simple stimuli.

College football (and basketball) is nothing but an arena in which to glorify the black gangster culture that pervades other “American” sports, like basketball. It’s disgusting watching white Americans of all ages salivate over the contrived spectacle of college sports and idolize (mostly black, or “blackified”) players. If the Asian-American students at USC are above this sick social pathology, then good for them, maybe they can be role-models to help the white students recover some self-respect.

Kingoldby, nowhere in the article does it mention that Asians thought this interview was offensive. To me, it seems that Fox Sports just panicked and went overboard by canceling the whole show. This has nothing to do with Asians. This has to do with Fox Sports making a bad decision. This story should not be on AmRen. And the video is in no way offensive.

  • Anonymous

The Asians were quite a good sport about the whole thing. They know who they are so no need for an inferiority complex to get in their way.

  • SLM

My wife is a 3rd generation American of Chinese ethnicity. She, her siblings and cousins are all very accomplished academically and are successful in their respective professions (medicine, architecture, accounting, engineering among others). None of them speak with an accent, all are sports enthusiasts (unlike myself) and none so sensitive as to be offended by this video.

  • Yellow Man

Unfortunately I can speak with quite a bit of authority on this matter as several of my family members have gone to USC. Asian Americans raised here are die hard football fans. In fact my cousin met his wife at a UCLA/USC game (ironically she is a UCLA grad). My family members are so intimately familiar with the minutae of USC football and it’s ups and downs that it’s frightening. They can easily tell you how the team is faring now compared to how it fared ten years ago. They know every player and can comment ad nausem about his respective weaknesses and strengths.

These Asians look like they’re “off the boat” and many of them will probably return home and become the elite of their respecitve societies. Although the economy in China is growing far more quickly than the economy here successful businessmen in China have no compunctions about spending thousands of dollars to per year to send their children to an American High School. That’s right high school never mind college! The belief in China is that an education at a Western University will give their children the edge when they compete at home.

Of course at some point the Chinese elites will understand that the American Universities have become diploma factories that are producing graduates/products that are clearly inferior to what was being produced in the 1960’s and 1970’s. The Chinese will then realize this and the US education bubble will begin unraveling then if not beforehand.

  • Keith Blankenship

“We don’t say “ass”…”We don’t fight”. I would say these kids came across looking awfully good. The interviewer seemed like a complete boob. Sports are a pastime, and should be enjoyed, not obsessed over. If more americans had their priorities straight like these folks do, we would be in a lot better shape. It may have been meant to be anti-asian, but it was the lone white guy who looked bad. Three cheers for the students, who are obviously spending their time hitting the books!

  • Anonymous

Was it mocking Asians or was it mocking. . Blacks. .

Could it have been a two-for-one? (Sports lingo, no less). Was it mocking jocks too? A three-for-one triple play.

Fox shot down three birds with one stone. One thing is for sure, if it was any of the above mocking or being sarcastic about whites or conservatives the show would be considered the pinnacle of higher learning and likely win a broadcast award.

  • Spirit Wolf

Why even have sports in school at all?

The way sports of any level gets shoved down society’s throat, I don’t kids need schools to teach them about sports. They seem to get hooked on sports on their own easily enough, and then they get it into their heads that they can waste their childhoods playing sports with big league stars in their eyes.

I’d sooner see professional athletes make minimum wage, and see burger flippers get a nice raise. At least the burger-flippers are doing something more productive than chasing a ball around like a puppy.

  • Johnny

I viewed this video 2x and did not see the interviewer mock the subjects. It’s just another example of damned if you do and damned if you don’t. If no asians were interviewed, it would be considered racist also. Personally, I congratulate those students for concentrating on what’s important. The costly education they are receiving. Not worshipping a bunch of illiterate, ignorant, steroid swilling, Pac-Man wannabees.

  • Allan

As a 9th generation Euro-American, who has never seen the point of American Football, and consider it one of the stupidest games ever invented, I am sure that these Asian-American students are much better off putting their time to better use than learning about American football. More power to them.

  • AvgDude

Why is this considered “mocking” them? Just because asians at USC are too busy studying math, engineering and science to give a damn about football doesn’t say something bad about asians. It says something bad about the rest of us.

  • Anonymous

In college, I had black roommates for a year. And no, they did not rob or beat me or anything. (They were unbelievably loud sometimes though.) They did obsess over college football. They always had U of Alabama playing on TV. If you are a black person from the South, I can understand the connection. I watched for a few minutes each time they turned it on. It was ok, but I was and am more interested in martial arts.

White folks should be studying martial arts and marxmanship. If you think you’re too old for martial arts, you can still go to the shooting range. Even elderly ladies can shoot low caliber pistols successfully. Let the other minorities chase balls around the field, or watch the spectacle. White folks: get off the couch. The black guy won’t run any faster if you yell at the TV. Sports don’t include us anymore, it’s a massive waste of time. It is also the MSM version of “bread and circus”. That was a ancient Roman tactic; entertain the commoners with gladiator sports as a diversion from daily misery in order to prevent revolt.

Turn that garbage off. Start learning combat so that we can survive. How excited do you get when your favorite team makes a touchdown? Imagine how much better it will feel when you confront a rapist, who is about to rape your children, and blow part of his skull off with a shot gun bullet. That is much more rewarding victory than drinking beer and yelling at the TV.

“Kingoldby, nowhere in the article does it mention that Asians thought this interview was offensive. To me, it seems that Fox Sports just panicked and went overboard by canceling the whole show. This has nothing to do with Asians.”

Correct! A Gold Star for You! There was nothing there for Asians to take offence with, and I doubt that any did. What it did show however, was the verboten concept that Education -not sports- is the purpose of ‘higher education’. Not only that; it displayed a racially homogenous segment of society that does not bow down and worship at the altar of black thuggery -the absolute apex of heresy in the religion of Multi-Kulti. The panic was that this kind of thing might turn out to be contagious and the ‘vox publi’ (of ‘racist’ Whites, particularly in ‘flyover country’) might wake up to see that the civilization we (our revered ancestors) built is already deeply in the ‘bread and circuses’ stage of decline; and that the Barbarians are looting and raping well beyond the gates.

The only thing ‘offensive’ about this was the ‘reporter’ -a dull, brainwashed turnip who would have looked more appropriate doing a commercial with the jacka -ahem, jackanapes- dancing about in a suit covered with dollar bill signs promoting Federal Grant Money.

Not to beat a dead horse or anything but, Those kids are the future, I mean the real future Economics, Engineering.

Most of them will go home as one poster stated earlier they were FOB’s (fresh off the boat), Here is what I got out of it even the FOBs spoke english! and go to college to better them selves….. How is it the white man hasn’t been able to put his oppressed grip on these minorities?????

The only minority that isnt a joke are the Asians. is it a fluke that their IQ rivals and surpasses our own, Or is IQ now just a construct as well?

The only reason Asians have not surpassed the Western culture is they lack our individual creativity, More so our independent spirit or temperament if you will……

  • WR the elder

I don’t follow football at all so I’d look just as foolish as those Asian students. Would it be racist to interview me on that subject?

Ironically, I can give you the names of a few top Japanese go players.

I think that we have to remember that there are so many Asian students in the U.S., it is difficult not to interview any of them. At the University of Illinois in Chicago most of the students are Asian. You will find this all across the country, USC is not exception. I have read that Harvard will actually cater to non-whites over whites, and that the requirements for attending Harvard are lowered for non-white students. I have read that 70% of Harvard Students are not white.

There is an ancient truism that runs like this:

    “Man is the tool-making animal”

    and that is true.

This truism functions as a sort-of catch-all anthropological axiom

which serves as a framework for the entire field.

Periodically, however, all axioms get bent to add add clarity and/or depth to the antecedent truism.

    Benjamin Franklin posited that

“man is a tool making creature who hits”

    Dostoyevsky gave

“man is a tool making animal who walks upright and is ungrateful.

To this list I would like to add to the pile the following:

MAN IS A CREATURE WHO MOCKS

Mockery functions among us-ALL OF US- as the first line of defense in protecting territory. Territoriality is the first effect that man gains as he raises himself above a State of Nature (i.e. animal existence) Whether Property or Weaponry were mens first inventions is a moot point.

All the same, to mock is equally human as is to breathe.

It is a peaceful and prelegal function meant mostly to alert interlopers that they have stepped across a line. Nothing more.

It is NOT, as the sensitivity police would have us believe, a monsterous moral defect making the mockers claim to humanity forfeit.

We know certainly that the Petite Signeurs of Sensitivity mock unstintingly everyone who they consider beneath them, with the exception of the client peoples they like to gather in a managerie to protect and “be a voice for”.

As an experiment, if you are known in your ken as a “racist” or a “hater”, try to do some overtly “sensitive” thing to a Blessed Client Person and watch the circus begin-watch the smoke of mockery ascend to heaven.

THEY, indeed, are JUST LIKE US, and that is a fact that makes them want to crawl out of their skin.

    Does that sound bizarre?

Let me sketch out a scenario just for fun:

Suppose Mr. Jared Taylor- a “Known Racist”, volunteered for some highly publicized event of modern humanitarian relief- you know- one of those kind where Leftist Celebrities show up to toss out soap bars and the like-Haitian Hurricane Relief or something-and quietly and diligently did his bit. …imagine the furor! imagine the tumult! imagine the caulumny!

The Lords of Sensitivity simply cannot endure ANYONE steeping on their territory, and if anyone does? Woe Betide!

Do you see what I am getting at?

Consider these things and if curious-try them.

Michael Buonarotti is an enemy but he codified the modern praxis of destablizing an adversary.

Look into him if you get a chance.

    Thank you.

Asians should be proud. Football is a stupid waste of time for real, serious students. Again, the Asians showing they are smarter by avoiding stupid, thug, ghetto football.

Is it possible to enjoy football and also study as well. So the guy who complains about his classmates obsession with football is now a soulless project manager at EXZ Generics making useless products for people with too much money to spend on trinkets.

  • Mike

Maybe, just maybe, one of the reasons Asians don’t know anything about USC football is because they are there to get an education, not watch football?

  • Bon, From the Land of Babble

Fox Sports has canceled ‘The College Experiment’… and quoted an ethnic-studies professor as saying that the segment was demeaning to millions of Asian Americans and perpetuates negative stereotypes of the minority group as foreigners.

Do you think any “ethnic-studies” professor would EVER complain that the media regularly demean Whites? Would the media EVER cancel a show or refuse advertising that openly portray Whites as fools, clueless and/or losers?

Would academia EVER demand that the media stop “perpetuating negative stereotypes” against Whites the way they did for Asians in the above article??

No. It is OK to dehumanize Whites across the media and academia.

At the University of Illinois in Chicago most of the students are Asian. You will find this all across the country, USC is not exception.

Asians are not a majority at USC:

Ethnic composition of USC’s student body:

    Undergraduate:

    Caucasian: 47.0% Asian 21.0%

    Graduate Students:

    Caucasian: 31.9% Asian: 20.2%

    Source: Wikipedia.

Also, anyone who attends USC has to look at THIS in Heritage Hall, which sits in the middle of campus:

    http://goo.gl/s1dZo

White kids could be just as bright, if they were not led down so many blind alleys.

They are led down these blind alleys by the governmedia and academia that throw up every possible road block to their success.

How about the government STOP allowing outright discrimination against White kids in college admissions?

And yes, I am well aware that Asians are discriminated against in college admissions but they are fighting back by forming race-based political advocacy groups that promote for the interests of their people.

Academia, as evidenced in the article above, support pro-Asian interests, something they would NEVER do for Whites.

See this article by Jared Taylor: Asians Put Foot in Racial Spoils Trough

    http://goo.gl/XB3pC

Asians—those smart, hard-working people you’ve always been told believe in merit and would never act like the NAACP or La Raza—have joined the racial spoils system. They have gotten in right at the top, and they are playing dirty.

Try forming a White advocacy group to fight overt discrimination against Whites and see what happens. Or better, ask why Whites are not allowed a legitimate claim of White identity or any rights to advance White collective interests.

As Luke keeps writing across these threads: People! There is a WAR being conducted against Whites. We are being systematically race-replaced by non-Whites and we are in a fight for our very survival.

    Nothing else matters.

    Bon

PS: What am I doing to fight the dehumanization of Whites? I donate money to pro-White organizations that, unlike our opponents, receive no government money.

While the typical white Joe Sixpack may indeed feel superior to the Chinese in terms of understanding football better, little does he seem to be bothered about the more disturbing fact that his own sister or daughter is considered greater sexual fodder material than the Chinese by the black football thugs that he hero-worships, for precisely the same reason.

The only sports in which I have voluntarily participated in my entire life were in no particular order: archery, downhill skiing, fencing, raquetball, high-power rifle shooting, deep-sea fishing, hunting, car racing and armed conflict.
