Cops: Brooklyn Mugging Possible Bias Crime

1010 WINS (New York City), Jul 2

NEW YORK — An Asian woman was knocked to the ground, robbed and beaten in Brooklyn last night in what police are investigating as a possible bias attack by a group of blacks and Hispanics.

New York City police say the 22-year-old woman was walking in the Sheepshead Bay section at 11:05 pm when her attackers allegedly pushed her to the ground while making anti-Asian remarks.

Police say a group of five men and two women took her wallet and fled on foot. The woman was not seriously hurt and refused medical attention. No arrests have been made.
