A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Chris Roberts, American Renaissance, April 15, 2017

American Renaissance is in the business of changing minds. Our purpose is to convince apathetic whites to join us. Our readers can also convince people, and one of the most effective ways to do so is to use videos.

Most people hesitate to read an essay you may send them — and they certainly won’t read a book. People are busy, and our internet-obsessed world is full of distractions. According researchers, only around 20 percent of people who arrive at a page on the internet read the entire thing. Likewise, on average, people read only about 20 percent of an article. According to some findings, around 55 percent of readers spend only 15 seconds skimming each article.

This is not to say that writing is pointless; just be aware of the written word’s limitations.

Videos have a better track record. For whatever reason, people are more willing to watch an entire video than read an entire article. And while articles may seem cold and distant, videos demand the engagement of more senses.

This is why the libertarian Koch brothers have produced many videos that promote their economic vision. They know it’s a better way to reach people than sending them a free copy of Friedrich Hayek’s Road to Serfdom. This is also why liberal websites such as Vox and Salon post so many videos — and it’s why American Renaissance makes videos.

Videos speak to people in a way that the written word doesn’t. So if you are trying to convince folks to come around to our way of thinking, use videos. Of course our videos are a good place to start, but there are many other good ones.

I recommend just about everything by Paul Joseph Watson. He isn’t one of us, but his videos are convincing attacks on liberalism and multiculturalism. Here’s a particularly good one:

There are also videos that show the harsh reality of police work. They can be a very powerful message for people who think that cops just wander around cities shooting people they don’t like while collecting a nice government salary.

It’s also important for whites to know what blacks really think. This music video is eye-opening:

There are also many videos of blacks doing things it is hard to imagine whites doing: rampaging though stores, stabbing one another over parking spaces, women brawling en masse, etc. This is behavior most whites never see. It can be described in words, but the actual images have immense power and convey just how different blacks are from whites.

If you can recommend videos that are especially persuasive, please tell us about them in the comments section.
