A resolution to call for unity after the assassination attempt of the former president was struck down before it was even heard on the Metro Council floor Tuesday.
Councilwoman Ginny Welsch said former President Donald Trump asked for what happened to him with his messaging.

Councilwoman Courtney Johnston’s resolution read to condemn the attack on Trump, honor the victims such as firefighter Corey Comperatore who died while at the rally and condemn all political violence.
FOX 17 News asked Johnston what she thought about Councilwoman Vo and Welsch objecting.
“It was disgusting and it was embarrassing,” she said.

Vo answered why she objected if she agreed on condemning the assassination attempt on Trump, honoring the victims and condemning political violence.

She also told FOX 17 News’ Karen Aguilar she did not want the resolution to be heard because it might impact the Asian community.
“A chinese man was accused of shooting former President Trump that was false, and there was anti-hate and people are fearing for their lives,” she said.
