City of Columbus to Declare Racism a Public Health Crisis

Chris White, ABC6, June 1, 2020

Columbus leaders declared racism a public health crisis as protests continue nationwide following the death of George Floyd.

Councilmember Priscilla Tyson will join Mayor Andrew J. Ginther, along with Columbus Public Health Commissioner Dr. Mysheika Roberts and Columbus Board of Health President Karen Morrison gathered via video chat Monday to discuss the declaration of racism as a public health crisis in the City of Columbus.

“We know implicit bias exists in every single one of us, all of us,” Ginther said. {snip}

Roberts said she is thankful for the city council and city leaders for stepping making the declaration.
