Baltimore Mayor: Space Was Provided to Those Who ‘Wished To Destroy’

Chuck Ross, Daily Caller, April 26, 2015

Baltimore mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake made a stunning admission Saturday in the aftermath of violent protests over the recent death of Freddie Gray, saying she wanted to give space to those “who wished to destroy.”

“I’ve made it very clear that I work with the police and instructed them to do everything that they could to make sure that the protesters were able to exercise their right to free speech,” Rawlings-Blake said during a press conference Saturday night.

“It’s a very delicate balancing act, because while we tried to make sure that they were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we also gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well.”

And we worked very hard to keep that balance and to put ourselves in the best position to deescalate, and that’s what you saw.”

Rawlings-Blakes’ spokesman Howard Libit responded late Sunday, saying that the mayor’s words had been taken out of context.

What she is saying within this statement was that there was an effort to give the peaceful demonstrators room to conduct their peaceful protests on Saturday. Unfortunately, as a result of providing the peaceful demonstrators with the space to share their message, that also meant that those seeking to incite violence also had the space to operate. The police sought to balance the rights of the peaceful demonstrators against the need to step in against those who were seeking to create violence.

The mayor is not saying that she asked police to give space to people who sought to create violence.

  • Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is a black mayor of a Bell Curve City. Black power and civil rights means marching, protesting and rioting, or at least she and many others like her think it is. March, protest and riot, and blacks get stuff. Martin Luther King marches on Washington, and the next year, a civil rights bill is passed. People walk across a bridge in Selma, Alabama, and not long after, a voting rights act is passed. See how easy that was? The small print is that they don’t see the decades upon decades of the long march through the institutions that their white (or “white”) fellow travelers engaged in, and they don’t see all the difficult political work that white (or “white”) politicians did to get that legislation passed.

The “mystery” of Stephanie Rawlings-Blake openly stating that she gave a safe space to proto-rioters, a part of Baltimore that is mostly white and highly gentrified, is about as perplexing as the “mystery” of why Baraq Obama said that Trayvon Martin could have been his son.

    • propagandaoftruth

What spaces did this upjumped racist boonzilla “give” her peeps the green card to destroy? I wonder. For real.

    • Albert

Damn, it’s just like raising a spoiled brat. Give the screaming little brat anything he wants in order to end the tantrum.

    • carriewhite64

That is a good point. At first, I tended to give her the benefit of the doubt, since the clarification of her remark does make sense: she was giving space to the protesters and the violent members of the group took advantage of that space. But, like you said, anyone with eyes should classify protesters as proto-rioters. It’s inevitable.

    • Realist

But it’s great to see ‘Little Richard’ is mayor

  • JackKrak

How long before she claims that the Feds won’t send help because of racism and then when they do, she will claim racism because the Feds are trying to take over “our city”?

  • MekongDelta69

Welcome to Rhodesia… uhh, I mean, Zimbabwe.

  • Mack0

Sometimes the veil is inadvertently pulled back and the truth is revealed.

    • Yeah, the nice thing about Negro leaders is that they can’t keep up the phony act for too long. Their racist feelings very soon come out. These people are about as subtle as a troop of charging chimpanzees. (Good analogy, no?)

Also, the Bible states that : ” out of the treasury of the heart, the mouth speaks “…

      She can’t walk this back…

      • Samuel Hathaway

I can’t think of another commandment than, “Thou shalt not covet” that the black race daily and continually violates with the blessing apparently, of the Southern Baptist Convention.

        • Dale McNamee

Many of these so called churches don’t have a denominational affiliation… Many are almost cultic…

And the Southern Baptist Convention isn’t the only one guilty among those who are denominational…

  • Luca

Their right to free speech? I’m sure she meant “free stuff”, you know, the ghetto version of re-distribution of wealth.

  • phillyguy

look at them idiots up at the podium ,how could anything work out with them at the helm.

    • Samuel Hathaway

Of course, nothing is supposed to really workout with this collection of bluegums at the helm. It’s about racial empowerment, racial entrenchment, and keepin’ it black. You’d better not go near any of them to make a suggestion about how to uplift the quality life of Baltimore, lest they turn on you and rend you into a million pieces. Then again, you already knew that.

  • Steve_in_Vermont

Taken out of context? Really? I listened carefully, twice, and clearly heard her say she was giving those who wished to destroy property the space to do so. Her staff tried to walk that back but the damage was done. What does she think those rioters were thinking when they heard that? Did they not understand she was “taken out of context”? Perhaps the criminals who assault the police officers were also taken out of context. Just the type of leadership you don’t need in situations like this.

    • DJRicin

She was very deliberate in what she said. I wonder how the small business owners in those “spaces” feel about their mayor saying that it’s open season.

  • TheCogitator

Should white people had chosen to behave in this manner, I wonder how much space they would have been given?

    • Ruby Ridge and the Branch Davidians. There’s your answer.

      • TheCogitator

Just what I figured. No space at all.

  • Frank_DeScushin

The media and other Liberals are bending over backward to say that the mayor’s words were misconstrued. Given this mayor’s history of anti-white sentiment, however, I think she said exactly what she meant. She wanted to give black thugs space to destroy white society.

    • Clyde Weathers

      Very true.

    • thomasdosborneii

That’s the constituency she pledged to serve and would continue to provide the votes she needs.

  • IKUredux

    Hey Wally, watcha doin?

I’m gettin ready to start a revolution, Beave.
Gee, Wally, I don’t think Mom and Dad are gonna like that.
Beave, I know you’re young and stuff, but, if I don’t do this, there will never be a June and Ward ever again.

Oprah thinks that that would be the best outcome, ever, in world history.

Our White children are also being taught this.

I can just see a TV program based on Idi Amin and his family. Or, perhaps, Robert Mugabe. Maybe President Zuma(of KILL THE BOERS fame). How about Papa Doc Duvalier?(Seriously, I might have the name wrong, but, you know, that Haitian dictator).

Are we Whites going to allow this trash of the world to dictate how we live our lives? Are we going to allow them to dictate with whom we live? Are we going to allow them to tell us with whom we are to associate?????

    ARE WE?

  • AmericanRemnant

It would appear that Baltimore is no longer in the running for one of the happiest places on earth.

    • Dale McNamee

A couple of years ago, the City’s tourist department had a motto : ” Come Find Your Happy Place Here “…

      • AmericanRemnant

I guess that slogan’s out the broken window.

        • Dale McNamee

    • Albert

I think they have a shot at becoming the next Detroit in a few short years.

      • ElComadreja

They’re not far away as it is.

  • Samuel Hathaway

So much for racial “stereotyping.” Even the mayor knows that blacks are prone to violent behavior when they don’t get their way. And she’s black, too, so no calls for her resignation over phantom charges of “racism.”

  • Bon, From the Land of Babble

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake confirmed that the protesters were being given space to destroy.

Those looters and rioters have been bought and paid for!!

It’s White baseball fans we have to be afraid of, not violent blacks.

So give the keys to the city to the violent looters and rioters and keep those terrorist White baseball fans locked up.

After all it worked well in New York City’s Crown Heights when Dinkins told the police to “Let them Vent Their Rage!” – after which rioting escalated unabated for four days.

Baltimore: The City that Reads Bleeds.

    • Dale McNamee

      And ” Needs”…

  • Xerxes22

I’m sure glad that the rioters were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on. This woman is definitely presidential material just like the current fence post turtle sitting the White House.

    • Rioters: Must be protected
Businesses: They can be attacked and looted.
      Cultural Marxist mentality at work.

  • USofAntiWhite

Black folk just expressing their African ways, both on the street and in the mayor’s offices.

    • Ironically, I bet most of these people do have jobs. Come on, you don’t actually believe that Leftist idea that people riot because of “poverty and unemployment”? Even blacks sometimes admit this. Remember that movie by that racist black director, Spike Lee? It was called, ironically enough, “Do The Right Thing.” In it, black people rioted and looted an Italian pizzeria, and one of the rioters, who worked for the business, participated in the disturbance. The next day he showed up for his paycheck! Yes, the arrogance of blacks knows no bounds.

      • ElComadreja

A lot of them are pimps and street corner pharmacists.

Nothing, not even deep space is as empty as the negro mind.

  • AmericanRemnant

These people seem to taken up the banner of perpetual victim hood. Now I wonder where they picked that up?

    • Genetics. But in recent years their dysfunction has been encouraged.

    • Dale McNamee

From their rotted “leaders” and a government willing to pamper them…

      • AmericanRemnant

I was thinking those that carry the Holohoax banner.

        • Dale McNamee

          I hadn’t thought of them…

        • De Doc

Jews now are reaping what they once sowed. They have too much White Privilege (no doubt a term someone from that tribe invented) to be the darlings of perpetual victimhood.

  • Hammerheart

So which city is going to be the designated terrorism space for ISIS?

  • Usually Much Calmer

So, you know that joke? The one where in heaven; the French are the chefs, the Italians are the lovers, the British are the police, the Germans are the mechanics, the Swiss make everything run on time whereas hell is where; the British are the chefs, the Swiss are the lovers, the French are the mechanics, the Italians make everything run on time, and the Germans are the police?

This is a good rule of thumb: elect the Irish or the Italians as your politicians and NEVER let them run your police department. You should be OK. Seriously. This would have gone down great if Baltimore had heeded this maxim.

  • listenupbub

This explains a lot. The dindus just can’t tell that their mayor is of their tribe because she is so light-skinned.

    • Who Me?

      She still says “axe”.

  • Jaggers

I’m willing to give the mayor the benefit of the doubt, which is to say that she’s so inarticulate that the meaning of her speech was wildly ambiguous. This is actually quite typical of low IQ people trying to communicate.

  • libertarian1234

It’s going to be interesting to see how the rabid government controlled news media is going to spin this, since the city is a black run one, with a lot of black cops on the street.

If they were white we would be reading news reports of past/existing racism, plus all manner of injustices that need to be fixed, because of whites victimizing blacks.

But what will they do now?

I can see a situation where blacks align themselves with the black gangs and Shabazz and his Black Panthers, armed with AK 47’s, spraying rank after rank of police as they’re in the street firing tear gas, killing mostly black cops and Blacks connected to City Hall.

In that instance surely the press will be on overload and won’t know what kind of lies and exaggerations they should be telling.

    • dd47

They have the power of disinformation, they also have the power of simply not reporting at all. It could even be chucked on YouTube by people who filmed it, but few would take any notice and the videos would only circulate around sites like this. YouTube would likely even remove the videos after a while.

    • Albert

I would hate to be a columnist for a pc publication on mess like this. It would be nice if one of them broke ranks to tell us what it’s like to chafe at the bit under such restraints.

    • Who Me?

I could be wrong (and probably am) but I don’t think Shabazz would be too common a surname, even for blacks, would it? If I remember right, Malcolm X’s last wife had the “slave name” of Betty Shabazz. I was wondering if the current version could be a relative of the sainted Malcolm?

  • DaveMed

“… and children, this is what happens when Blacks are put in charge of cities.”

Space on the deck of a gallows?

Advice no doubt from her ‘amish’ controllers. The ‘amish’ agenda – Soros money.

  • De Doc

Wow. The African mind at work.

  • phillyguy

The disgraced negress mayor changed her whole story tonight, now that the governor called a state of emergency and called in the national guard, the negress has called for a curfew. She must have been reprimanded for her stupid comments she made earlier.

  • American Tax Payer

I saw this elsewhere the other day and commented, how does one attack space? I’m still trying to figure that out.

For the science minds here, is it possible for one to “touch” “space”? I mean, can you attack space? I always thought “space” was something intangible but objects that take up space, were things you could see, hear, smell, touch and taste.

  • Albert

“It’s a very delicate balancing act, because while we tried to make sure that they were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on-”
Meanwhile it’s open season on the “cars and other things.”

Hey, sounds like we have a new constitutional right – the right to destroy others’ property, and soon, doubtless, to rape their wives and daughters as well.

  • coolcat

Police should blow all these blacks bastards to kingdom come. Anarchy produces a police state. This is what these protestors are getting for themselves, since the can’t self-govern themselves.

  • Who Me?

A black woman accidentally told the truth!
