The Atlantic: ‘Madison, Wisconsin, Is Not Ferguson, Missouri’

From The Atlantic:

‘Madison, Wisconsin, Is Not Ferguson, Missouri’

The death of Tony Robinson, an unarmed black teenager shot by a white police officer, has inspired new protests under the banner of #BlackLivesMatter.

ADAM CHANDLER MAR 9 2015, 4:45 PM ET

On Friday night, Tony Robinson, a 19-year-old black teenager in Madison, Wisconsin, was shot and killed by Matt Kenny, a white officer and 12-year veteran on the city’s police force. …

Since Friday’s shooting, the city has transformed into the latest site of protest and grief. In gatherings reminiscent of those in Ferguson, Missouri, over the death of Michael Brown last August, demonstrators have marched through the streets and gathered at the site where Robinson was killed to demand justice.

Madison, WI is of course not some backward racist burgh like Ferguson, MO, it’s home to the University of Wisconsin and the state government. Madison is part of Dane County, which gave Obama 71% of its vote in 2012. We can see the difference in racist hatred levels in these statistics from the USA Today arrest rate database for 2011-2012:

Ferguson

Ferguson has a shocking 2.8x black to white ratio.

Now, here is liberal Madison, where voters know better:

Madison

So the black to white ratio is only 9.6x.

Oh, wait …

      yeah!

    • Jason Lewis

But they’re blue states so it’s cool. (sarcasm)

    • TruthBeTold

We really need to take control of the narrative and start not only identifying the racial demographics of these communities but also the political majorities.

We need to start posting everywhere that these are DEMOCRAT strongholds, not racist Republican enclaves.

These problems keep happening in Democrat controlled cities and we need to make this clear.

      • bilderbuster

It could be pointed out that every ghetto and majority Black city is run by Democraps.

      • We also need to make it clear that school districts such as the Ku Klux Klan-run St. Louis City Public Schools are suspending way too many black students.

  • james AZ

Ask for 500 policemen from Africa union to patrol in freguson, Missouri. Also other 650 policemen from Africa union to patrol in Madison,Wisconsin. There will help better huh.

  • 1stworlder

That’s nothing San Francisco is only %5 black with 60%+ of the criminals being black. Such a den of hatred the DOJ must investigate. The reality is the only places that blacks are not over represented in arrests that Steve Sailor could find are prison towns where blacks count as residents but cant be arrested.

    • InAFreeCountry

Has to be because of the racist Republican government in SF.

  • Steve_in_Vermont

We’ve learned nothing from the recent past. The media, and black “leaders”, convicted George Zimmerman……..before a jury acquitted him. These same people did likewise to Officer Wilson……..before a grand jury and a Federal investigation cleared him. Now it’s another white officer shooting an “unarmed” black and they have spoken…guilty. All they need know is (a) white officer (b) unarmed black, close enough. Trials by (minority) public opinion, what a system. This will never change.

    • Charlie Appleton

Somewhat off-topic, but sort of related: it’s interesting how modern-day conservatives love to attack Vermont as this haven of loony leftists, but they tend to forget or overlook the fact that 50 years ago the state was arguably the most Republican state in the country. It was one of only two states that didn’t vote for FDR in any of his four elections, it gave Calvin Coolidge 80% of the vote and Eisenhower over 70% both times, and it voted for Nixon in all three of his races. And unlike Madison or Minneapolis, the state had no history of any left-wing activism or progressivism of any kind.

What happened was the state was (to quote Obama) “fundamentally transformed” in the ’70s and ’80s when a bunch of college-educaed hippies, yuppies and various “back-to-nature” types “discovered” the state and began moving in en masse. More than half of all Vermonters were born out-of-state, including such notable “Vermonters” as Howard Dean, Bernie Sanders, Bill McKibben and Ben & Jerry – none of whom have any Vermont roots whatsoever.

      • bilderbuster

Three out of the above five mentioned have any European roots whatsoever.

      • Michael Robert Ryan

This is true, but Vermont still has the most permissive gun laws in the entire nation, even more permissive than Alaska. I’ve never been able to figure that one out.

        • Steve_in_Vermont

One reason is the right to bear arms is written into our state constitution, Article 16 “The people have a right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and the state”. This has been reaffirmed by our state supreme court. And with gun ownership around 50% there is little support for more gun laws.

      • Steve_in_Vermont

I’ve been living in Vermont since 67 and you hit the nail on the head. These folks moved in and were soon running for the legislature. And these liberals never saw a new social program they didn’t like, or wouldn’t fund (with taxpayer money).

  • We know that Ferguson is political theater, not based on reality.

It’s the result of the Alinsky admonition to exploit any opportunity to stir the pot. However, the hypocritical libturds who inhabit Madison do not want to destroy themselves the way they gleefully destroy the elderly whites of Ferguson.

Old Louis Farakhan needs to go to Madison and make waves for the diversiturds. That might be fun to watch.

    • MBlanc46

Maybe a little looting and burning in trendy downtown Madison?

      • Speedy Steve

They rely on the unions to trash the state capitol building.

    • WR_the_realist

      Section 8 housing destroyed Ferguson:

      www vdare com/articles/feds-lynching-ferguson-but-first-they-fouled-it-up-with-section-8-housing

      • Speedy Steve

Ferguson is close to Saint Louis airport. The real estate is worth a lot more than its current face value. My guess is that it was Section 8ed with the full and complete expectation that Africans wold trash the entire town so that developers could put it to new use, expand the tax base, etc. I believe it’s block-busting on a grand scale.

        • That doesn’t make sense.

First off, Lambert is no longer a hub for any airline.

Second, our strategic position at the confluence of two rivers hasn’t been that important for quite a long time. St. Louis was important when rivers were important, but now rivers aren’t that important anymore.

  • libertarian1234

When it comes to crime it isn’t correct to assume that black/white arrest ratios should be the same to prove non-discrimination, since, per FBI stats, blacks are but 13% of the population, yet commit 58% of all violent crimes and other crimes way out-of-proportion to their share of the population.

Case in point: Blacks commit 10 times the number of murders as whites and Hispanics COMBINED.

Holder and Obama disregard the over abundance of black crime, declaring blacks to be arrested more, because of racism. That’s so preposterous as to be outright stupid.

But it is blacks who will pay the greatest for the lies told, because excusing their crime and violence and/or pretending it doesn’t exist will just cause more of the same, which is going to cause the entire black population to become dysfunctional, while Hispanics take their jobs.

The future does not look good for Obama and Holder’s people if these lies continue to be told, instead of trying to rectify the situation. Screaming racism won’t do it.

    • Raymond Kidwell

I want to point that out. All this liberalism that supposedly supports blacks or other minorities actually hurts them along with hurting whites.

      • bilderbuster

Blacks will always exist in a sad state but the damage done to Whites by all this is incredible.

    • Jeff

I tell this to all the people I know who will listen. It’s not enough for liberals that cops are forced to wade through black violence and blood that is knee deep. The libs won’t be satisfied until it’s chest deep. As far as I can tell, there is no amount of blacks being murdered by blacks that will satisfy them. And the right are the, “racists”?

      • bilderbuster

They want it to be all White blood.

  • Reynardine

Liberal whites are more “white” as in “stuff white people like” than ‘mainstream conservative’ whites, and consequently any place where they gather will have way more laws, by-laws, and covenants because of their love of legislation.

Blacks, who don’t care about laws in the first place, are going to naturally break more laws in places with more laws.

  • Douglas Quaid

I’m so sick of “unarmed black teens”, but I’m even more disgusted with their lib enablers. These idiots protesting don’t have a clue what happened yet, just like all of the other instances of “gunned down unarmed black teens” as the facts come in they tend to wreak havoc on the cultural marxist narrative.

    • Reynardine

Ask liberals: how could Eric Garner die from a “chokehold” but Michael Brown, St. Skittles, and Tony Robinson be innocuously “unarmed.”

They must either admit Eric Garner killed himself from being fat, or that you can do damage unarmed. It’s delicious either way.

      • John Smith

        Death by KFC.

      • KevinPhillipsBong

        Good point!

    • JohnEngelman

“Unarmed black teens” sounds like “non violent drug offenders.” Most of these “non violent drug offenders” are drug dealers. Drug dealers are very violent men.

  • Dave West

As usual confused, blood-thirsty blacks and hysterical white libtards have already appointed themselves the collective judge, jury, and executioner no more than a few hours after the incident took place.

I sure wished they loved keeping their pants up and showering; as much as they love black thugs with prior records who assault police officers.

  • TomIron361

Well, maybe if the negro hadn’t assaulted the officer, he’d be alive today.

  • LHathaway

“Madison, WI is of course not some backward racist burgh like Ferguson, MO, it’s home to the University of Wisconsin and the state government”.

At 80% non-white, Ferguson should be their multicultural paradise. That it’s not is just proof that full-diversity, full tolerance, will only be achieved when their are no Whites. And even if you are a surviving 10% population. . that is. . even when neighborhood goes from above 90% White, to less than 10% White, even then and there Whites will still be considered the ignorant, backwards, racists. You have to be pretty racist, to cleanse an entire race from the area. . according to the smart people, though, this just greater proves Whites are racist.

  • MBlanc46

Madison is clearly trying to keep from becoming Ferguson.

    • Jason Lewis

Yes but Madison’s people would look down on Ferguson for being racist backward hicks while they’re progressive.

      • Young Werther

        Totally on point.

    • Samuel Hathaway

Madison today is what Ferguson, MO was in 1980. Give Madison another 30-40 years to collapse under its own stupidity of multi-racialism.

      • MBlanc46

Along with the rest of the doomed country.

  • Young Werther

Ha…nothing less than they deserve. WI and MIN are old hot-beds of anarchists and socialists… there is even a statue of Lenin in one of those old radical leftist town squares…Seattle, WA, I think…Do you know where the other statues of Lenin are located in America? (test)

    • John Smith

NYC (naturally), Vegas and Atlantic City.

      • Young Werther

So says Wiki but I don’t trust them to tell the *truth*…bet there are more.

    • Anon Wyatt

Yes! I’ve heard Madison described as the San Francisco of the Midwest.

      • Young Werther

        L A for certain

  • Americaandthewestshouldbewhite

    Sad

  • De Doc

Funny. The White Libs crow to the heavens about how progressive they are regarding race. Yet they run their elitist communities worse than those they castigate as racists.

    • WR_the_realist

We should just arrest white people for voting for Democrats until their arrest rates match that of blacks.

      Problem solved.

  • WR_the_realist

Santa Monica, CA is not Ferguson either:

    www vdare com/posts/arrest-rates-ferguson-v-peoples-republic-of-santa-monica-ca

  • John Smith

They don’t call the place “77 square miles surrounded by reality” for nothing.

I wonder what would happen if Vermont started seeing an influx of illegal immigrants…

    • LiberalismFailed

Yeah. We see a similar thing happening in Colorado. All the rotten hipster children of those same people you reference above, move to Colorado.

      • Charlie Appleton

Boulder and Austin had the same “Vermont” effect as well, but in their cases it was a bunch of white libtards flocking around the universities. People in Austin actually refer to the city as a “sea of blue in an island of red”.

BTW, I just registered logged on. Sorry for the pics of the beautiful young Joan Collins, they were meant to be my avatar 🙂

      • Speedy Steve

Clyde Wilson recently penned a piece about James Fenimore Cooper’s dislike of Yankee invaders moving to Upstate New York bringing with them their haughty attitudes. Here in rural Virginia we still get invaders from Massachusetts who promptly run for the school and zoning boards just so they can show us ignorant rednecks what’s what. Think Ichabod Crane.

        • Charlie Appleton

I’ve always gotten the feeling that New York City hates Upstate New York because of its deep-rooted Republicanism and rural tradition: ever notice how people from NYC never refer to their city as New York City, NYC or the City of New York but simply New York?

  • LiberalismFailed

I remember my most recent trip to Madison. As I was driving in, I turned the radio station to what I thought was AM Sports radio, because they were talking about steroid use. Slowly, after about 20 minutes of listening, I came to realize that it was actually the person interviewing an “it” about drugs associated with gender transformation. I remember thinking to myself, “Man, this town is different.”

  • slobotnavich

I disagree with the characterization of Ferguson as some racist redneck backwater. I’ve lived in both North and South and will state unequivocally that racial relations are generally far better in the South than in Northern cities. In the South whites and blacks have lived together for many generations, generally civilly and peacefully. They greet and talk to one another. In the South whites who maltreated or grossly disrespected blacks were regarded as trash and not worthy of polite company. In the North few whites even know any blacks and generally do their best to avoid them. Obviously, as with all generalizations there are many exceptions, but as generalization I believe that racial relations have long been better in the South and will likely remain so for the foreseeable future.

    • Epiminondas

Those are my observations, as well.

      • slobotnavich

        Thanks for your comment.

  • Young Werther

    Oh? They don’t have one?…ha.
