Grand Jury Decision on Ferguson Officer Darren Wilson Could Come Friday

Evan Perez et al., CNN, November 19, 2014

The grand jury hearing evidence on the Michael Brown shooting is preparing to meet Friday for what might be its final session, and a decision on whether to charge Officer Darren Wilson could come the same day, law enforcement officials briefed on the plans said.

St. Louis County prosecutors are preparing to present more evidence to the grand jury before starting deliberations, and a decision on an indictment is expected soon after, the law enforcement officials said.

If a decision comes Friday, prosecutors are expected to provide law enforcement with 48 hours notice before making a public announcement, possibly on Sunday.

The current plans could still change and prosecutors could shift the planned grand jury session, the officials said.

Prosecutor Robert McCulloch has said he plans to make public all evidence and testimony presented to the grand jury, but there is growing concern from some on how to deal with the identities of people who have testified, the sources say.

Concerns have also been raised that some witnesses could be put at risk once their testimony and identities become public, law enforcement officials said.

A spokesman for McCulloch’s office said the prosecutor hasn’t decided whether to redact names of witnesses. {snip}

In the St. Louis area, protesters have been staging dry runs on how to face police. And continuing their demonstrations.

Despite below-freezing temperatures Monday, about 100 activists disrupted lunchtime traffic in the nearby city of Clayton.

The Ferguson National Response Network expects that reaction to the grand jury ruling will not be limited to the St. Louis area. It has set up a Tumblr account advertising about 90 “planned responses” to the ruling. They will take place from West Palm Beach, Florida, to New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

  • I’ve been burned before by all the “little birdie” and “secret squirrel” and “grapevine” talk about when no true bill will be announced. Therefore, I’m not going to read, mind or repeat any more of these kinds of rumors and speculation. It will happen when it happens.

    • Georgia Boy

I’ve appreciated your commentary through this whole thing, fyi.

      • If anything, though, I’ve sorta slacked off since about Labor Day, at least in terms of paying every attention to and commenting on every element of the blow by blow. For that, the gold star goes to Jim Hoft, the Gateway Pundit (bookmark it). The story has actually mentally fatigued me, and I’ll get back up on the horse if a no true bill results in more riots or some similar happy fun stuff. But there’s a big part of me that hopes that it turns out to be a big bust.

  • pcmustgo

It’s like they want to give the rioters the weekend to riot..

  • Lewis33

That would be the dumbest thing ever (releasing decision on Friday) as A) It’s a weekend, Looty’s favorite time and B) A warm front is coming thru the Midwest for a few days, but it will be cold again come Monday.

    • Alexandra1973

      Maybe they *want* mayhem.

      • robinbishop34

        That’s the feeling I get.

  • Ograf

Justice is blind unless it is a black vs White situation. In that case the Whites are always wrong and racist and have treated the poor blacks so bad for the last million years or so. Why if it wasn’t for the black people we would have a terrible country where people were decent and obeyed the law. Where people had a moral compass and lived by it. This situation today has to be a bad dream or something. It seems as though the situation just gets worse and worse as time goes by.

    • brior

Blacks will vote anything that hurts whites, even if it means the
destruction of their own, That is how the black man rolls. When YT is
pushed out of the way the Mestizos will deal with the blacks as they
always have… with violence. Perhaps the altruistic whites will finally
take care of their own and just let the trash kill each other. The free
stuff and money won’t last too much longer.

  • DD-762

Be realistic, folks. The Grand Jury could very well indict the officer. If this occurs, I am sure the libs and the “protesters” will be disappointed, but the store owners will be dancing the jig.

    • Alucard_the_last

Maybe we should go and riot and loot if he is indicted.

      • LeonNJ

We would end up looting a Barnes and Noble and Starbucks. lol

    • DaveMed

True. Do we know the racial makeup of the jury?

      • Tom in MI

Nine whites and three blacks, I believe.

        • Alexandra1973

You watch the 3 blacks vote to indict–and the whites not.

Little too pat if you ask me. Not saying Officer Wilson should be indicted…but it’s as if someone’s pretty sure it’ll be along racial lines.

Never let a good crisis go to waste, huh?

          • brior

Should be all mexicans now that we are Northern Mexico.

          • Alexandra1973

They’d probably vote not to indict just to spite the blacks.

    • Adolf Verloc

Sharpton has already indicated that protests will go ahead even if Wilson is indicted. He sees this as a long-term cash cow and doesn’t plan to walk away from it.

      • Ike Eichenberg

        Tax man gotta be paid…

  • Alucard_the_last

They should wait until it is very cold so the ‘protesters’ (i.e. lawless, unemployed, rioters) will stay home. The officer deserves a medal. How knows how many lives he saved from that future murderer.

    • Joe blow

Are you referring to the Gentle Giant?

  • Conrad

Put the national guard & police in the streets & issue shoot to kill orders.

    • See The Future

Don’t forget the danger of escalation. They can shoot too!

      • Bonny Alba

Stop tantalizing us. Stop teasing. It would be a shame if the white population had to step in and help the police put down an armed black insurrection.

    • M&S

      No.
Protect the city centers and retail areas. Protected, viciously, brutally and with no mercy beyond a single warning shot, anyone approaching white residential areas.
But in the black neighborhoods, post nothing.
And when the rioting happens, let it be known that, due to black insurgent behavior, power has been lost to their homes and white repairmen are being denied access to fix the blown transformer pads until such time as ‘things settle down’.
      For their own safety.
Blacks who cannot reach whites to vent their angst and who cannot go continue to raise hell in general without a cold home, busted waterpipes and rotten food, are blacks without a lot of options.
Make it perfectly clear that blacks will have absolutely _zero_ oversight of their areas. They can turn completely feral if they so choose. But they will also have no heat. No water. No tv or microwave dinners.

      • Max

I say that theynshould shut down all social-services offices for 30 days for safety reasons” until the protesters disband and immediately close them again if any hint of a repeat performance is signalled. We can all play this “shut down” game.

        • Nice idea, and the officials involved could claim “safety” issues.

        • M&S

          I agree.
But keep in mind, it takes a person anything up to a month to starve to death without EBT. It takes them only one night of no-heat to start to get the sniffles.
We also need to make it VERY CLEAR that this isn’t just about blacks’ tantrums no longer being there-there teddy bear, catered to but the notion that civilization serves the decent folk, preferentially.
Which means blacks are not only outcasts in our society so long as they act like barbarians but they will be /denied entry/ to damage the lives of those who ARE protected.
There is nothing like making a person realize that they are feared as rabid, out of control, outliers and that the result of that fear is not empowerment but _isolation_ to make them sit down and realize what a total lack of empathy means to their existence as a 13% minority.
It would be a good lesson for whites as well, not only to see blacks brought low in the power of their egos. But to understand that we _are not_ better off with them in our communities and should do all we can to distance ourselves, physically and socially from their mode of existence.

  • none of your business

Another thing abut the weekend is that most people have leisure to watch TV and some still read the Sunday newspapers. So the MSM can have a carnival of blacks looting and the pundits pondering and pontificating about how us evil Whites are totally responsible for all the problems.

  • Dave West

“If a decision comes Friday, prosecutors are expected to provide law enforcement with 48 hours notice before making a public announcement, possibly on Sunday.”

Lame, I was really hoping for some weekend fireworks. Maybe someone will leak the decision.

    • Alexandra1973

Not like they’re working during the week, though.

  • dave

I believe the decision will come after Thanksgiving.

    • iberianpride

I think so as well. The last weekend of November, after Thanksgiving and Black Friday have passed.

    • I’m hoping for early December, after the peak travel week around Thanksgiving is over.

    • John R

Yeah, why do you think they call it BLACK FRIDAY! HA HA HA!!! Sorry, moderator. Someone had to say it!

  • LeonNJ

If Michael Sam was still a St.Louis Ram, he could go to Ferguson and try to control the crowd and tell them to behave and act like him.

  • BlueSonicStreak

I’m horrified that the prosecution could release the names of the witnesses. We’ve heard that the anonymous witnesses gave testimony that supported Wilson’s version of the story…which means that those people’s lives are in danger if their names go public.

They release those names and the next time there’s a Mike Brown, there will definitely be no “snitches” willing to stand up for the principles of justice for a white cop.

  • Ike Eichenberg

Even Not-so-Sharpton can figure out there is a decent chance of a republican in ’16 and little chance the IRS is going to forget about the past due bill.

But apparently the tax man doesn’t have to be paid when his boy is in charge.

  • AmericanCitizen

The best thing that could happen for Race Realists would be announcing a decision the day before Thanksgiving. If Officer Wilson is not indicted and rioting begins, every white family in America will be together on Thanksgiving watching the street animals in Ferguson on TV. Think about how much progress could be made in one day, if every family had one member speak up and clearly explain to the others about how diversity and the inner city black are destroying the very country that the Thanksgiving holiday celebrates. Opening eyes on the individual level is how we are going to survive.

  • Steve_in_Vermont

If the officer is indicted, next year this will go to trial. Most experienced lawyers doubt he would be convicted. How much worse would that be, another Zimmerman trial ending in a finding of not guilty?

    • Alexandra1973

I can see it now…Wilson is indicted…this whole thing goes on for, what, another year, year and a half? Then he gets found not guilty and there’ll still be riots. More damage than if they just vote to not indict, I’m thinking.

  • Alexandra1973

Why in the world are they pussyfooting around with this, anyway?

I just texted my mother in the Detroit suburbs and let her know they might be rioting in Detroit. I saw the list…one place is on West Lafayette in Detroit.

There are also scheduled riots in Cincinnati and Cleveland. I’m probably 35 miles from Cleveland, don’t think it’ll reach *this* far out in the middle of nowhere.

  • John R

What “new evidence” is the “prosecution” going to introduce? Huh, like we don’t know all the details by now? Oh, I get it: The New York Times-from a very reliable source-found a picture of Officer Darren Wilson wearing a Ku Klux Klan outfit, huh. Ummm, he had the hood on, but the NYT assures us, it was Darren Wilson. Other evidence? Eric Holder showed up, and told the jury, that if they didn’t indict Wilson, he would pursue hate crimes charges against all of them. This just keeps getting more absurd by the minute!

    • Alexandra1973

Maybe he dropped a few N-bombs or something.

  • Bonny Alba

PS I meant that with all due respect. Also, I really doubt that Wilson will be indicted. If so it will be a real travesty.
