Court Blocks Ariz. from Denying Driver’s Licenses to Young Immigrants

Rebecca Shabad, The Hill, July 7, 2014

An appeals court on Monday halted Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s (R) policy of denying driver’s licenses to people who came to the U.S. illegally as children but received deportation deferrals from the Obama administration.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit sided with immigration advocates who said the young immigrants would be harmed by the unequal treatment from the state, according to The Associated Press.

Brewer had issued an executive order in August 2012 directing state agencies to deny these public benefits to young immigrants who received work permits under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

In May 2013, a U.S. District Court judge rejected immigration advocates’ arguments that the policy violated federal law. However, the judge noted that Arizona continued to grant other immigrants who didn’t qualify for DACA driver’s licenses, suggesting the state was treating people unequally.

Late last summer, Arizona altered the program and said it would stop issuing driver’s licenses to all people who receive deportation deferrals, not just young people who qualified under DACA.

The court still found the policy resulted in unequal treatment, however.

Nebraska has a similar policy in place in which driver’s licenses are denied to DACA recipients. A federal judge tossed out a lawsuit challenging the law earlier this year. {snip}

The Ninth Circus is comprised of judges who think Ruth ACLU Ginsberg is a Tea Party ‘nut.’

NoBama has filled so many judicial posts with his cronies, it almost doesn’t matter who gets elected anymore.

We are one Supreme Court Justice away from being TOTALLY flushed down the toilet and into the sewer.

It’s probably a short step from drivers license to voting.

They’re not citizens? Who cares about vote fraud? Just look at Mississippi two or so weeks ago.

    • Standup Broad

A “short step”? Here in Arizona, identification issued by the State is all that’s needed to vote in Federal elections. Si lo haran!

  • D.B. Cooper

Yeah right. How long before they are forced to award licenses to illegal aliens? One lesbo/Affirmative Action judge is all it takes, along with a soft republican willing to let it happen. The final ingredient would be that republican’s constituents who will blindly reelect him/her.

Obama appointed judges nullify the will of the people again by judicial fiat!

I liked the other guy on the license. LOL

Guy on license should be shot down like a dog.

Ah, it’s that 9th Circuit Court again. It’s back in usual form, defending the rights of illegal immigrants to invade our country.

  • Chip, chip, chipping away at common sense and any reasonable interpretation of law, the Bolsheviks give us a puppet show to keep us pacified. The puppets may wear black robes, but they do the bidding of their globalist masters, calling it humanitarianism, but communism by another name is all it is.

Our job now is to make more people understand that disrespect for this government and its corrupt judges is a badge of honor. But more than insulting them, which they don’t care about, is cutting off their funding via tax avoidance and any other means necessary.

Collapsing the system and replacing it with the true rule of law may take 20 years or 20 days, but that’s the only realistic alternative to the tyranny we face.

We must also honor those who are fighting and who fought the tyranny–men like Bill Cooper and George Lincoln Rockwell.

Hmm, just saying, but I might promote all the judges over the lawyers as the first to, uh, go.

My Governor, the great Crispie Kreme, tells us that driving is a privilege bestowed upon us by the state, not a right given by God. So why is this a God-given right for illegals? Or do Arizona and NJ fall under different Gods?

Do we need anymore proof that the US has become a dissolved sovereignty? Next step will be an invasion just like now.

IIRC, something similar is the law in Northern Ireland. Newly licensed drivers have to display a certain type of marker in their rear window.
