Republican Radio Host Kicked Off Air for Using Racist Slurs

Joshua Gardner, Daily Mail (London), June 20, 2014

Ousted one-term U.S. Congressman from Illinois Joe Walsh says he’s been kicked off his own radio show for trying to have a frank and honest discussion about race in America.

The Tea Party darling was on air Thursday discussing the controversy surrounding the name of the Washington Redskins when he used racial slurs like the N-word and C-word as part of what he says was a thoughtful comparison.

That’s when the station cut him off with commercial breaks and they’ve since cut him off completely from his own show.

Even as it was happening, Walsh tweeted about his outrage.

‘It appears I can say Redskins, which is supposedly offensive, but when I say other words, commercial,’ complained the pundit.

He continued to tweet the specifics of the strife behind the scenes at Chicago’s AM 560 The Answer.

‘If Redskins is just like the “n-word” why can I say Redskins on-air without being dumped out into a commercial?’ he wondered.

The answer would not come as the situation, as tweeted by Walsh, continued to worsen.

‘Just got kicked off the air until further notice. Tried to have honest discussion about racist terms and management censored my language,’ he said.

Walsh’s language apparently included some unsavory slurs, which the 52-year-old husband and father chose to use on Twitter as he stormed away from the radio station.

‘Found out if I said Redskins or Cracker or Redneck Bible Thumper, I could stay on. But if I said N***** or S***k, they cut me off,’ he wrote.

Walsh then revealed to his followers that he would be off the air at least until Friday, when he was slated for a 5pm meeting with his producers concerning the incident.

It’s unclear what their decision on the delicate matter will be, but what is known is that Walsh’s show is very popular at the Chicago station.

In fact, The Answer website says that the former lawmaker’s show was expanded to a three hour time slot just a few months after its debut.

‘The only complaint was from Joe,’ program director Marcus Brown said in 2013. ‘He had more to say than we could fit into two hours, so we’re adding an extra hour and are moving his show to drive time in Chicago

‘Joe isn’t just a rising star in talk radio. He’s a meteor, and his potential for success in this business is enormous.’

    >>>‘Found out if I said Redskins or Cracker or Redneck Bible Thumper, I could stay on. But if I said N***** or S***k, they cut me off,’ he wrote.

Yeah, there’s a gross double standard. We know. I’ve even seen it in practice frequently among posters to this forum, where anti-black slang is forbidden but anti-white slang is often used.

By the way, I don’t know what “S***k” stands for, so I’m not sure whether to be offended. I might want to make a practice of using the word to irk certain people, or I might need to make sure not to say it in certain company for fear of being turned in for “hate speech.”

If we don’t know what the word is, how can we regulate our usage of it?

    • I don’t know either and I feel like I should!

      • [Guest]

I searched my racist brain but couldn’t come up with it. Thankfully a couple of other racists have offered suggestions. I think most likely Harry has it right.

    • JP Rushton

It’s the product that you use to clean things with, Spick and Span!

    • haroldcrews

      I think “S***k” includes a “p” and a couple of “o”‘s in that order.

      • So, there’s “poo” in the middle?

      • LHathaway

Actually, I was guessing the term was spick – if i spelled that right. It would make more sense, in that the speaker was discussing Different ‘offensive’ words. I write ‘offensive’ because after 40 years of ‘tolerance’ training, modern sensitive folks use the word ‘redneck’, a racial slur, in an effort to prove to everyone else how enlightened they are.

Here in Europe negroes are a new thing. And when one comes walking along the street at night, it freaks me the hell out. How do they recognize each other? Do they use floodlights in Africa?
So “Spook” is actually dead on.

    • IstvanIN

      Spook, like Casper……

    • Oil Can Harry

S***k is the reporter’s misspelling of an anti-hispanic slur. That word is only four letters long and ends with “c”, not “k”.

      • Who Me?

“Beaner” works but may be regional and limited to this area.

    • RisingReich

Chink, chink, SPICK, nagger, nagger, nagger…

    • The only aweful “s***k” word I know of describes a particularly loose woman who dresses every bit of it and looks like she uses hard drugs. I can not imagine “spook” would get someone in trouble.

      • PvtCharlieSlate

There was a movie, “The Human Stain”, a few years ago whose plot involved just that. A very light-skinned black college professor (who passed himself off as white) had in class innocently used “spooks” to refer to some students who had signed up for his course but had never attended any lectures. “Has anyone actually seen them? Are they real or are they spooks?” Of course, the missing students were black and immediately took offense and the administrators took their side and climbed up on their PC horses and galloped off madly in all directions.

It’s worse than that, even. Because the object of those slurs are on average, shall we say, less literate than the rest of us, they demand that we regulate our usage of words that might even sound like those words.

The famous event which triggered (can I say trigger?) the worldwide censorship of the word “niggardly” was a kneejerk response from an affirmative action hire in Washington, DC. I use that word more now than I ever have, as do I use “conspicuous,” “hebephrenic,” and others.

If interested, I suggest you google “down with the N-word” and “Economist” to see the classic satirical piece they did on Marshall Brown (the offended illiterate) and his ilk.

  • Joe Walsh supports MLP and FN. And when MLP had an American tour a few years ago, she met with only two American elected politicians, one of them was Walsh, and the other, amazingly, was Ron Paul.

    • Luis

Who are “MLP” and “FN”? It’s alphabet soup to me.

  • MekongDelta69

“Joe Walsh says he’s been kicked off his own radio show for trying to have a frank and honest discussion about race in America.”

See Joe – right there is the problem. You’re White. You can NOT have a ‘frank and honest discussion about race.’

    Not in THIS ‘America’…

    • Truthseeker

Yep, the only “frank and honest discussion” they want is a lecture to White people about how everything is their fault, and no matter what they do, it’ll never be enough to repay them. Because we haven’t heard that non-stop since the day we were born or anything. Because White people haven’t been trying hard to atone for their “sins” for decades or anything.

Multiculturalism is inimical to human freedom. The more multicultural a society becomes, the less free it is, until one ends up with a police state that must intervene in the lives of its citizens to manage their personal affairs. The only truly “workable” multicultural society is a repressive totalitarian dictatorship, such as the societies held together by Marshal Tito or Saddam Hussein, that must be segregated along ethnic and racial lines in order to simply coexist with other, more ethnoracially homogeneous states.

    • So you see the whole point of multiculturalism: state tyranny over the individual.

    • Berkeley Guy

Not to mention that some cultures prefer less individual autonomy and more collectivism.

      • Perhaps the members of these pretend “cultures” should leave.

        • Berkeley Guy

Perhaps, or perhaps people like me should be having more children. I want to see White people change the status quo in places like China, Japan and various African countries where we are not well represented by becoming executives, politicians or CEOs of large corporations. Diversity can be used for our benefit as well. The future is global, and there is nothing saying that we cannot increase our numbers in countries all over the globe. There are ways to use trends to our advantage, since we started out with tiny populations in tiny countries in Europe. We can do so once again, increasing our foothold and cultural strength all over the world. I hope to have as many children as whoever I end up marrying will allow. Some of those children may end up working in various countries, and as such increase the diversity along with our population, in said countries.

Any creature denied it’s own habitat eventually goes extinct whether it be the Spotted Owl or the last whites living in Detroit.
Nation states exist to preserve the posterity (future generations) of a people just as natural habitats provide animals with a future. What would happen to the Japanese if the Chinese were flooding into their country like they are Tibet? Answer: Japan would quickly become a Chinese island and the Japanese nation would be no more. Just like the Ainu who are a dwindling minority in Japan that lost the islands to the Japanese.

          • Berkeley Guy

White people are quite intelligent and hardy. There are still many of us, despite all the murder and mayhem, who are holding on in South Africa. I expect will we once again flourish in Detroit. Furthermore, I expect us in the future to flourish in places where we have never before.

  • The problem is the FCC in this case. A station can lose its license just like Donald Sterling lost his team. Only Sterling got to sell his team. A radio station might not be able to recoup anything because of a racial flap.
Internet radio is something we should embrace for uncensored conversations. The problem is that you can’t get much of an audience with it because insofar as I am aware you can’t get it while driving. Correct me if I’m wrong.

    • Tarczan

Sure you could with smart phone.

    • The FCC is also an appointed bureaucratic body not subject to recall elections.

  • LIBERTYSINCURSION

My my, doesn’t he know that ALL “frank and honest” conversations about race come in the single form of a lecture by Eric Holder? – It’s true, you can even order cassette tapes

I swear, political correctness has turned this country into one gigantic Monte Python skit. No, I take that back, even they couldn’t script something this stupid.
    .
I can’t remember the exact circumstances now, but does anyone remember when the PC police went after a guy for using the word “niggardly” in it’s correct use and context?

    • [Guest]

It was a man named David Howard who referred to a budget as “niggardly” and got into trouble with the mayor of D.C.

Howard was a coward and sided with the PC police against himself.

    • The PC police are usually not the most literate people.

    • TheLastAngel

It’s more like a left wing terror state that nobody has actually noticed yet. Not even the people who take part in it, who think they are saving the world.

They have found out that destroying peoples careers is just as effective as killing or interning them. Puff, they disappear from public life and are shamed and humiliated forever.
The people who carry out the unwritten sentence believe they are doing a good deed in the name of tolerance and diversity.

      It’s brilliant.

  • Sloppo

I remember not too long ago Eric Holder seemed to want more honest discussions about race so perhaps he will intervene in this situation.

  • Truth Teller

I use OFEE obsolete farm equipment and my friends and relatives are beginning to use the term too. I learned it on this website.

I discuss race and opinions about blacks all the time. I discuss blacks with hispanics, asians, russians, persians, armenians and israelis. They don’t agree with me on one thing.
I contend that blacks are fully human as we are. All those other ethnic and racial groups disagree.
    Immigration is not all bad.
