Teens Defend ‘Fail Factory’ School in Error-Filled Letters

Susan Edelman, New York Post, February 23, 2014

These kids should learn write from wrong.

Earlier this month, The Post exposed a scheme at Manhattan’s Murry Bergtraum HS for Business Careers in which failing students could get full credit without attending class, but instead watch video lessons and take tests online. One social-studies teacher had a roster of 475 students in all grades and subjects.

Red-faced administrators encouraged a student letter-writing campaign to attack The Post and defend its “blended learning” program. Eighteen kids e-mailed to argue that their alma mater got a bad rap.

Almost every letter was filled with spelling, grammar and punctuation errors.

A junior wrote: “What do you get of giving false accusations im one of the students that has blended learning I had a course of English and I passed and and it helped a lot you’re a reported your support to get truth information other than starting rumors . . .”

Another wrote: “To deeply criticize a program that has helped many students especially seniors to graduate I should not see no complaints.”

One student said the online system beats the classroom because “you can digest in the information at your own paste.”

“Us as New York City Students deserve respect and encouragement,” one letter read. “We are the future of New York City and for some students, The future of the country.”

Two blocks from City Hall, Murry Bergtraum, graded “F” by the Department of Education, had a dismal 51.2 percent graduation rate last year. Hundreds of students are over-age and behind schedule.

The “blended learning” program, started last year, helps them load up on credits quickly.

The DOE said 444 students are taking “one or two” such courses, but The Post found that some take up to eight at a time.

The school’s $52,332-a-year “community coordinator,” Kian Brown—also a private “branding” consultant—encouraged kids to write letters to The Post praising Principal Lottie Almonte and her program. Copies went to Chancellor Carmen Fariña.

[Editor’s Note: According to this website, Murry Bergtraum is 47 percent Hispanic, 40 percent black, and 2 percent white.]

    You can’t teach stupid.

Coming from the guy who says takes pleasure in thinking about whites “getting replaced by less-qualified Jews” at work, and openly calls for genocide via miscegenation.

      • oddball1776

(Imposter shill – Jewish – should be ignored if the mods refuse to do their job).

      • JohnEngelman

I doubt I wrote “less qualified Jews.” Jews are usually better qualified.

        • Gatortrapper

So where did he retrieve the quote? Are you denying that the quote is accurate or not your work? Or are you merely taking issue with it in order to give the appearance but not fact of denial?

That said, failure builds upon failure and the structure that it forms is not sound. We are now preparing the 3 or 4th generation of students who are vulgar, undisciplined and ill prepared; who get more encouragement from their parents on the quality of their athletic prowess than there ability to comprehend and reason. Where they will spend hours trying to master an XBox game but quit after a single attempt at an academic challenge. Common core for one, common core for all. Common core will be death of our culture based on what I’ve seen and read.

          • JohnEngelman

If I wrote it, it was a mistake. I am opposed to affirmative action.

          • Mergatroyd

But you are not opposed to miscegenation or race replacement of whites by Jews and Asians. That makes you an anti-white, genocidal monster.

You support and encourage a non-white group that demands a homeland for their people and ONLY their people while believing we whites should cede our territory to “superior” Jews and Asians.

        • M&S

Jews represent less than 3% of this nation’s population yet are given 25% of it’s yearly college scholarships and, by some counts, are responsible for 70% of it’s upper level political class.
You must be able to see that, if this is the nation that is created for whites, by Jewish leadership, it is not amenable to the thriving profit of the majority but is in fact creating a dystopia’d dispossession of same.
Where intelligence has many forms and facets while much of European history and achievements happened -before- the rise of Jewish learning (or should I say, it’s turning away from an introverted self-obsession with religion) the larger the intelligent genetic base, the more likelihood of maintaining that widespread degree of success in all things.
By effectively chopping this nation up into population group entitlement segments, our leadership destroys what it cannot maintain.
          And perhaps never intended to.

          • Mergatroyd

            Who controls America.

Of the sixty(60) senior officials of the U.S. Government economic, financial, and monetary institutions, thirty-nine(39) are Jews or have Jewish spouses. This is a numerical representation of 65%. Jews are approximately 2% of the U.S. population.* Therefore Jews are over-represented among the senior officials of the U.S. Government economic, financial, and monetary institutions by a factor of 32.5 times(3,250 percent).

            * Jewish Population of the United States by State:

choke-points… this condition directly controls US foreign policy, especially mid-east, and immigration policy as well.

          • JohnEngelman

Why is that a problem? Jews earn those distinctions with their superior intelligence.

          • The only Jew I knew in high school became an army helicopter pilot. Good, honest, technically-demanding work, but not exactly sterling intellectual achievement.

          • JohnEngelman

One of the Jews I knew got a perfect score on the SAT. Another earned a full tuition scholarship at one of the most prestigious universities in the United States.

Personal anecdotes are interesting. Nevertheless, I prefer to substantiate my factual assertions with sources that refer to the United States and to the world.

        • Mergatroyd

You have called for Jews and Asians to race replace whites in white homelands.

That makes you no different from Hitler who wanted a world free of Jews.

          * The Ashkenazim are biologically the most superior race in existence.

*The thought of you losing your job to a more intelligent Jew or Oriental is pleasing to me. As time goes on there will be more of that.

*Miscegenation is the coming trend. There is not point in even trying to reverse it.

*Get used to it. In the future inter racial marriage will be even more common.

          –John Engelman.

The front page headline of Sunday’s NY Post was “Read It And Weep” and it showed one of the student’s letters defending his school.

In the letter the “youth” said his high school should actually be praised because…. (dramatic pause) …they have a really good basketball team.

You be the judge what the agent was saying.

      • Katherine McChesney

I read comments yesterday on predominately black Tennessee State University. There was almost no information related to their studies. These students praised the school for their sports and ‘having fun’.

The crime on TSU’s campus is rampant and they are located in a dangerous neighborhood. One student wrote “hell, I’m black and I’m scared”.

  • sbuffalonative

One of the reasons for the failure of our public schools is that student ‘needs’ are now setting the agenda.

Teachers used to teach and students used to learn. Today, the failure of students to learn is setting the agenda.

Teachers are teaching to failure and the more kids fail the less they’re required to learn.

  • Viv J

“you can digest in the information at your own paste.”

Funny or sad? I just can’t decide.

    • sbuffalonative

You can’t put a black kid in school but you can’t make him learn.

      • Gatortrapper

Don’t think that the racial attribute is particularity relevant, so why do you reference? Even if the problem may be more predominate in one group as opposed to another interjection of it without evidence that it is the cause rather than a symptom shows latent racism. It’s quite likely that it is merely evidence that scholastic failure and inept parenting have penetrated that area more thoroughly than others so far.

        • BillMillerTime

The “achievement gap” is an actually an IQ gap, which is about 80% genetic.

          • Gatortrapper

Don’t disagree that several studies offer strong support for that statement. Just noting that given the inflammatory nature of the use of racial distinctions in today’s world, that when they are not essential it’s wise to avoid their use.

What we have here is a particular education strategy that has been exposed as being something other than represented. The defense is, in part, made by the students who have written in support of it. Their written efforts are full of errors in grammar, spelling and construction/organization. Those errors have added fuel to the fire regarding the program and for good reason. The race or ethnicity of the students who wrote is not material, the fact that they made such a poor showing is relevant.

          • Mergatroyd

Nonsense again. Those IQ and behavioral differences are critical in explaining black academic success and why blacks will never achieve at the level of whites.

The government has poured billions upon billions of dollars into educating blacks at the expense of white children and after 50 years what are the results? Blacks still fail, still have low test scores and still are unable to succeed in a white, high tech socieity that was built and created by people whose average IQ is one-two standard deviations above that of blacks.

Frankly, I’m tired of MY hard-earned money going to educate blacks past elementary school while bright white children suffer. It’s money down a rat hole, IMO.

If you have any evidence or proof that there is a program out there that works to bring blacks up to white levels of achievement, I’d like you to post it.

        • indoctrination_FAIL

“latent racism [sic]”? Please. You profoundly do not get it, and I am not even referring to your errors in English usage.

But stick around and you may catch on.

        • sbuffalonative

I’m going to assume this is sarcasm.

        • Mergatroyd

Nonsense. The reason blacks do not succeed is because they have an average IQ of 85 which limits their academic ability and success in life. The evidence, after 100 years of testing, is overwhelming. Blacks have smaller brains, less impulse control, higher crime rates, etc.

Only quacks and apologists like the late, thoroughly disproved Gould would try to say otherwise.

If you haven’t read The Bell Curve, that is a good place to start, also Rushton and Jensen’s work, “THIRTY YEARS OF RESEARCH ON RACE DIFFERENCES IN COGNITIVE ABILITY” (caps in original).

          • Whitetrashgang

Not to be rude but that was testing on high yellow blacks the 25% of blacks that are 50% white or more. The rest of the blacks IQ in the US would average around 70.

          • sshadow

That makes sense, but I haven’t seen those stats. What research are you looking at?

    • Who Me?

“I should not see no complaints” ???
Didn’t most of us learn not to use double negatives in 3rd grade?

  • T_Losan

“Blended learning” is nothing more than partially replacing human teachers with video lessons and computer exercizes. This approach is okay for disciplined students such as adult learners, but was never intended for high-school age kids. Either way, teachers are likely in for a nasty surprise as they go the way of human cashiers.

    • sbuffalonative

Blending learning allows them to learn at their own snails pace if they can even manage that.

    • Rhialto

Computer controlled learning would be a great technique, but it must be used selectively. It cannot be used for unruly or mentally sluggish students, who require constant human supervision and pressure to learn anything.

I think that it could be used selectively not only with HS students, but middle schoolers (10-13) as well. Just think, White students forced to attend Diverse schools could stay home most of the time or in safe areas, and be educated effectively and safely via a computer. Students who have the capacity could have the equivalent of 1-4 years of college in certain fields when they graduate HS.

No students’ education would suffer, and many would benefit.

      • kikz

too bad they’ll still have waste their time & someone’s money navigating the culturally marxist curricula obstacle course(s)….however, these classes can serve as instructional, in a devil be known sense, if the child if forewarned/forearmed.

  • Think about how meaningless a high school diploma (and even a college degree) is today. Think too about the massive resources ($$$$$) spent to educate the uneducatable. All because we are FORCED to pretend that the races are equal when they’re not.

    • dd121

“spent to educate”. “spent to pretend to educate”. There fixed it.

    • pcmustgo

Yeah, I knew a black kid who was getting a Psychology degree at CUNY who wrote the way I described, and couldn’t figure out how to use a period. I thought of how much better off he’d be in vocational school.

      • IstvanIN

Vocational School? What a rude statement. Are you saying that most tradesmen are retarded? Sorry, but I want a mechanic who can fix my car, keep my HAVC system running efficiently and a plumber who knows how to keep water IN the pipes.

        • Rhialto

There are Blacks who would have been good plumbers, electricians, and mechanics, but they are physicians, lawyers, and managers thanks to Diversity.

          • The Final Solution

Blacks aren’t good at anything and I wouldn’t hire one to do even the simplest task such as bootlicking. You want the job done right you hire a white man for the task.

          • Katherine McChesney

A black man in my building (who adores Barry Soetoro) once made the statement to me that he quit working for a certain White man because he wanted him to install plumbing that was ‘illegal’. Don’t know what that meant but this guy does his car repairs in our parking lot making it look like it’s located in a black slum.

          • Tarczan

I thought you lived in rural Ohio.

        • Gatortrapper

Don’t think he said that friend. The observation was that mastery of the written word had thus far eluded the “kid” and perhaps his skill set lay elsewhere. Everyone should learn a trade, including professionals, if only as a hobby. Personally I’m cross training into reloading shotgun shells as my next skill set.

          • The one thing I never reloaded was plastic. My best friend did. We didn’t originally intend to do so, but after I saved up several big paper grocery bags of empties and gave them to him, Ed cowboyed-up.

          • Gatortrapper

Just getting into it. Figured what the heck. I’ve got the gun and the price of ammo is outrageous so why not? And I figure if it pans out I can always expand into brass for the CC piece as well, but factory loads there for the time being.

          • My first centerfire rifle was an 1891 Argentine Mauser in 7.65mm X 53 caliber, so I got into both reloading and case-forming at the same time. I can’t do that anymore, but I’m writing a book on case-forming for every caliber up to 25mm.

I was going to get a 37mm seal gun back in 2000 but was arrested by the FBI instead. It was a Martini-action, and could fire harpoons for seals, slugs for polar bears, and shot shells for birds. I was going to turn the cartridge cases myself out of solid brass bar stock and use .50″ BMG primers. I normally just collected military hardware, but I was intrigued at the idea of a harpoon gun. I miss those days. Enjoy!

          • BonV.Vant

there are three d printers that print ammunition, I’m not sure how they load the powder. I think a way could be devised for the whole process to be automated.

          • Soul Hunter

All reloading is time consuming . . .but accuracy will improve 100%

          • Soul Hunter

components are still relatively cheap ..

          • Soul Hunter

            It’s a breeze . . .get the progressive loader !

          • I used a single-stage press back in happier days, an RCBS. I got a second press for powder and match-grade metering drums. For the small rifle cartridges, I liked IMR-4198. This was for 5.56mm NATO and 7.62mm X 39. For almost all other rifle cartridges, I used H-4895, which I bought in eight-pound kegs. I loaded all my pistol rounds with Accurate #5, but for 7.63mm X 25 Mauser for my “Broomhandles”, IMR-4227 was better. It took a full load for complete ignition, so AA#5 was more reliable. I always used CCI primers.

Can you tell I miss it?

          • Soul Hunter

            practice makes a good shot . . . Mr Scott ..

          • Soul Hunter

I haven’t been doing any myself . .although have been thinking to restock for that rainy day.. when all else fails I have black powder and molds to keep the rifles shooting but that’s not going to do any good in a conflict .
how come your not reloading now ?

          • Felony conviction. I can’t have firearms or ammo.

          • Soul Hunter

Will that be void after a while? I don’t know how that works . .

          • Without a Presidential pardon, it will be permanent in my case. Since I’m smart , I made an electromagnetic coilgun. It’s not a firearm, so I can have it. As it isn’t legally a firearm, it also isn’t legally a machinegun.

I am very sorry about what I did, but I completely understand that it doesn’t matter. I suppose I might otherwise be bitter about this, but I have an otherwise great life.

          • Soul Hunter

            Hey, stuff happens . . .
Up to this point I’ve been lucky . . and in this day and age it’s becoming more difficult to stay within the law, I swear it..
I guard to protect myself from killing one of these fools running around the planet . . everywhere you look another nut case…
Anyway, coilgun sound interesting . . just keep the batteries charged.. hook it up to the solar panels . . . .talk about off the grid.

Blacks Tend to Write Like This and Have Problems with Punctuation and Run On Sentences Like They don’t understand What they are Doing blah blah blah you can see this a lot If you look at Online dating and personals ads You can Tell which ones were written by Blacks and latinos because of this

    • sbuffalonative

From your post, I’ll assume you’re either black or Latino. (I kid, I kid).

      • pcmustgo

I’m just writing this way to show how they write. I, of course, don’t write that way and rarely see any whites writing that way when I peruse personals ads. Even “simple” whites seem to get punctuation down better.

      • Who Me?

No no, he must be White. He used capital letters.

    • Homo_Occidentalis

Clearly white racism is to blame for the remedial writing abilities of most blacks. Maybe we “stole” the knowledge from them.

    • Viv J

Pretty good, but you need to leave a few more IQ points at the door if you really want to pass as black. They don’t use the word “are”; they would simply say “What they Doin'”, and of course your spelling is too correct; blacks often can’t spell the most basic of words. 🙂

      • Katherine McChesney

I am constantly amused by the poor writing on black blogs like Field Negro, NewsOne and the Grio, Very Smart Bruthas and the like. The pretense to appear intelligent is hilarious.

  • pcmustgo

Or they write phonetically. I’ve known 20-something Latinos who write “wen” for when and “sow” for so.

    • Homo_Occidentalis

If one lacks the innate IQ and curiosity to self-teach by recreational reading, then the basics will never sink in. I’ve never seen a non-white read a book for pure enjoyment. Even in school, they will resort to SparkNotes and Wikipedia rather than sit and read the assigned text. This intellectual laziness is why black 20 year-olds spell like white 8 year-olds or worse. A few do rise above their peers, but it is never more than statistical noise.

      • Katherine McChesney

When I worked for a black corporation, one of the so-called department heads always used ‘dat’ and ‘dis’. She had a doctorate from black Tennessee State University where the degree isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. She was the perfect example of an uppity negro.

I just recently met a Teach for America (or rather, NYC Learning Fellows program, where they give you a free masters if you teach inner city kids) teacher who so regrets going through that program. She said her kids are illiterate high schoolers who claim they want to become a doctor when they grow up and such, and how insane she finds that. I told her about the inflated self-esteem thing they may have going on.

    • pcmustgo

I’ve never met one Teach for America or Learning Fellow who didn’t regret it.

    • sbuffalonative

Well, they COULD be doctors and rocket scientists if the racist white man would only let them into the white man’s schools. That’s really the issue here. The white man’s racism. Just look at all the nuclear physicists African universities are turning out. /sarc.

  • Johnny99

Grammar, punctuation, and spelling are racist constructions and noticing and/or correcting said infractions are “micro-aggressions”. Coming soon to your local high school, jr. high and elementary school.

    • Viv J

I once corrected a black student’s grammar, and she said, “That ain’t how we talk.” I can’t remember what I said in response, but it wasn’t what I would have liked to have said.

      • Katherine McChesney

Blacks may seek university degrees but one fact is clear that when they meet up with other black students they revert to ‘ghetto talk’. I’ve heard it on Vanderbilt’s campus at Rand, the dining hall where I have lunch with a young student I befriended a year ago. I’ve also heard it on the city bus when the local high school lets out for the day.

It’s still strange to me to see blacks at Vanderbilt and in formerly White Green Hills village.

    • sbuffalonative

The white man’s language is racists and expecting blacks to live by the white man’s standards is racist. Heck, all black failure can be attributed to the white man’s racism.

    • dd121

If you post on MSM sites that have Discus they’ll delete your post merely because they disagree with the conservative viewpoint. It has nothing to do with “abuse”. Engleman has a perspective that many on AmRen disagree. He gives his opinion but doesn’t stoop to ad hominem attacks. Isn’t that the kind of conversation we would all like to have? I for one really appreciate Mr. Taylor for keeping the conversation on that level.

      • Mergatroyd

No. He posts the same anti-white, trite drivel repeatedly. His message is one of Asian and Jewish superiority over whites and how he desires the race replacement of whites. It clutters up the threads and is defeatists and disheartening to read. Yeah, why don’t we just go ahead and cede our traditional homelands to Asians and Jews?

This distracts from us what we really need to focus on: preserving the white race for ourselves and our posterity and making sure there is a white homeland in the future. If Asians, Jews, Mexicans have a right to a homeland then this right extends to us as well, but all indicators are that in 50 years there will be no homeland for us…what then?

Engelman seems to believe that those nice Asians and Jews, who are so much smarter than we are, should lord over us and once they take over our homelands, will happily share resources that once belonged to us. I think they’ll kill us off, which is what competing groups have done all throughout human history.

I do not want that, do you? Engelman is a distraction and red herring who I believe is in the employ of our enemies and sent here to distract us.

If we ignore him, it will give the impression that he is correct and represents a part of the prevailing wisdom of the forum, which he clearly does not.

That is why we call for his banning from AR, as he’s been banned from several other sites for spreading anti-white agit-prop. We have enough enemies who desire our genocide, we don’t need one on our threads spreading misinformation.

He’s driven off many good posters from AR who are sick and tired of his anti-white messages.

Blacks do not have the math and mechanical skills for vocational school except perhaps nurses aids but do you want them taking care of helpless old people? Why do you think they are shoved into liberal arts useless studies?

When did the mastery of grammar and usage stop being an important part of a business career? Though it’s probably just a fancy name for what is really a ghetto high school.

Babysitting and prison prep, that’s all this place is.

And what’s this bit about “deserve respect?” It used to be one had to earn respect, and only after having given a lot of it out.

Marcella Sills, New York City`s Worst? Or the Norm? Government Subsidized Failure

    Published January 19, 2014January 19, 2014 by PapaGiorgio

PS 106 was allotted $3.3 million in 2013-14, including more than $160,000 in federal Title I funds to serve kids from poor homes. Yet the “School of No” had a library in shambles, a nurse with no office, no Common Core math or reading books, first-grade special-ed students without a qualified teacher and no payroll secretary to keep the books. (NYP)

The New York Post reports the following, on the “Principle of the Year”

“Get rid of her before it’s too late,” a 2007 letter urged District 27 Superintendent Michelle Lloyd-Bey, who oversees Queens principals…

…Sills, 48, was a graduate of the DOE’s “Leadership Academy,” which trains principals, and had little teaching experience. Insiders said she lacked literacy skills, noting her invitation to a Nov. 23, 2005, holiday buffet “in honor of my gradutitude” to employees, including “security personel” and “custodially staff members.”

Sills ruled by threats and intimidation, ex-staffers complained. She “yells at a volume that resounds throughout the building, slams doors and uses foul language,” a 2006 letter to Condon claims.

That letter also accuses Sills of racism: “She has hired only black teachers and has targeted white teachers and a secretary.” Many left or were forced out.

One former teacher charged that Sills fabricated several observations, rated her “unsatisfactory” and then forged her signature on the documents…

Maggie’s Notebook fills in some craziness from the school:

Marcella Sills is the principal at Queens Rockaway’s PS 106, a Title 1 School, 98% of the children are eligible for the free lunch program. The Free Lunch does not include learning. The New York Post has been busy skewering Sills. Parents say the school is rat-infested and children watch movies a good part of the day, quote “The kids have seen more movies than Siskel and Egert.” Substitutes are not called when a teacher doesn’t show. The school has not received Common Core math or reading books, and apparently have decided not to use whatever textbooks they’ve had in past years. Sills seldom occupies her school office, but she throws a heck of a party for the kids who can afford to rent the required clothing for a “wedding themed” event — bored children, learning nothing while risking rat-bite fever, leptospirosis, and maybe the bubonic plague.

Could you imagine having her as the principle… teachers? Via Nicholas Stix:

….A Department of Education spokesman said Sills was required to report her absences and tardiness to District 27 Superintendent Michelle Lloyd-Bey but would not say whether Sills did so last week.

Lloyd-Bey did not return a call. Sills hung up on a reporter.

When she is out, an assistant principal is left in charge. Yet Sills, who gets a $128,207 salary, also pockets overtime pay — $2,900 for 83 hours in 2011, the latest available records show.

“This school is a complete s- -thole, but nobody in a position of power comes to investigate. No one cares,” a community member said.

PS 106 families hope their cries for attention bring newly installed Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña to the rescue, saying they can’t recall any prior DOE leader visiting the remote school.

She would find it sinking, they say.

The isolated building sits a block and a half from the beach, surrounded by vacant, weed-choked lots, the road behind it strewn with trash bags and broken TVs.

The floods of Hurricane Sandy in October 2012 wrecked a hangar-like annex, called the Early Childhood Academy, which housed pre-K, kindergarten and first and second grades. It has not been repaired.

Two kindergarten classes moved into “temporary classroom units” in the yard. The other children moved into the main building, forcing some classes to squeeze into small offices and storage rooms. The pre-K class sits in the auditorium, but has to move to the cafeteria during the movies.

Kids in several grades said that last week they watched “Fat Albert,” “Alvin and the Chipmunks” and “Monsters, Inc.,” but did not relish the downtime.

“I like gym. I like to draw,” said Charm Russell, 10, who added her peers are too restless and bored to watch the screen. “They’re always making noise, and there’s nothing entertaining going on. No art, no gym, no music class.”

More alarming, the teachers have gotten no curricula since Sandy. Last February, the DOE announced several new options, including “Go Math” for grades K-5, and “ReadyGen” or the state Education Department’s “Core Knowledge” for English language arts. The books cover the Common Core standards, skills that kids should master at each level.

But five months into the school year, PS 106 classes still don’t have the books or teacher’s guides.

“They have no reading program, no math program,” a source said, adding Sills blames outside administrators for not sending materials.

Teachers muddle through by printing out worksheets they find online, buying their own copy paper.

It’s a black school. The blacks don’t care. Why should anyone else?

      • If white people in a position of power came to investigate, the Afritards would begin screaming “racism” right away. It isn’t worth our time.

        • MBlanc46

Absolutely. Let them sink or swim as they prefer.

  • borogirl54

I wonder if the problem here is that the majority of the students are Hispanic. Many of them who wrote those letters are probably in ESL classes. The sad thing is that no one checked the spelling or the grammar of the students who wrote the letters. At least that would make them look good.

    • The teacher proofread the letters, and “them am all be looked goode, and stuff.”

    • Bon, From the Land of Babble

      Not according to Great Schools:

      Limited English proficient: 10%

You have no idea how many students enter my 11th and 12th grade classrooms, whose first language is English, and who write exactly like the examples above.

They’ve been told throughout their school career that grammar and spelling are unimportant, to focus instead on content, and, to make matters worse, most students do not like to read for pleasure (or at all) where a lot of good grammar and spelling habits are picked up.

      • I’ve loved reading so much and for so long that my parents used to punish me by taking my books away. I suspect these non-readers have never heard of Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle, David Drake, Larry McMurtry, George R.R. Martin, Gene Wolfe or Steven Brust.

      • MBlanc46

The way to learn to write is to read. There’s no other way to do it. Read, and, of course, practice, practice, practice.

        • Bon, From the Land of Babble

So true except we’ve got an entire generation of kids who don’t like to read– they’d rather play video games, watch TV or movies, text, play on the computer, etc. They even brag in class that they “never open a book” because they hate reading.

Reading for so many of them is a chore and they are not only disconnected from the education process but hostile to it as well, especially black and brown kids.

They also don’t come from a culture where reading or learning is valued — yet they think they’re college material, or so they’ve been told all their lives.

Of course if they enter my classroom reading at a 4th grade level in the 12th grade that is somehow MY FAULT. If they score in the 2% on the state test that is MY FAULT.

If they cannot pass the high school exit exam that is also MY FAULT. When they refuse to do homework, the assigned classwork, text in class instead of paying attention, roam the halls, ditch class and then fail, well that is also MY FAULT.

Glad I’ll be out in a few years…

          • MBlanc46

If you’re trying to teach blacks or browns, you have my deepest sympathy. It’s lunacy on our part to even try to impart more than the absolute basics to most of them. I am more concerned about white young people. Fortunately, most of those with whom I come into contact are pretty much on the ball, but I am concerned about the general cultural literacy in the US.

  • Jesse James

Segregation worked better for blacks than most people are willing to admit. Black schools were by blacks, for blacks and were not troubled with constantly maintaining white standards of education that they can’t hope to meet. There was no culture clash because black teachers and administrators understood what and how to teach their own. It fostered pride as the school truly belonged to them and provided good jobs for the talented tenth in their communities. Integration destroyed a lot of black schools in the South that did a much better job of teaching young blacks than the current system does. There was no raping, murdering and savaging young white teachers with tree branches because there were no young white female teachers in the black schools.

    • Einsatzgrenadier

Segregation also made black-on-white crime a rarity and preserved white racial purity. Doing away with segregation was one of the stupidest things the government ever did.

      • Jesse James

There is no more reckless gamble for a white parent than to allow your daughter to stand at the corner bus stop surrounded by a pack of black males…or black females.

      • Bon, From the Land of Babble

There was also the implicit understanding that if blacks came into White areas to murder, rob, rape, destroy and create mayhem, there would be swift and fatal retribution.

THAT’S what we need to go back to: immediate reprisal if Whites are harmed.

    • Peter Connor

And those schools had tough discipline, the parents expected it.

      • Jesse James

Correct, they were under the control of a proud black middle class who were both role models for other blacks and a civilizing influence. A middle class by the way that owed its existence to hard work and independence not government largesse.

        • Jesse James

          Forward into degeneration and dependency!

        • Tarczan

Very good. It doesn’t need to be as as bad as it is.

  • Bon, From the Land of Babble

Some of those complaints go back nine years.

    As a black, she’s untouchable.

  • Lee_CPA

Scary thought, but I would submit the letter writers are the smart ones of the bunch…..

  • Reverend Bacon

I would have liked to see the email from the “consultant,” a black man called Kian Brown, to see if he had even bothered to have a sentient being proofread it. Those mistakes might provide even more amusement.

  • Bon, From the Land of Babble

Teaching of grammar, spelling, lexicon, pronunciation and usage, once an essential part of the English Language Arts curriculum, has been deemphasized since the 60s as unimportant and irrelevant.

“Feelings” have became more important than analysis. At one time the National Council of Teachers of English issued a statement that correcting a student’s language was “immoral” because it intimidated students and is an attempt by a dominant group to exert power over another (I kid you not).

Research was even trotted out that said that teaching a standard form of English is a form of cultural imperialism.

Essays are to be graded “holistically” with the focus on content rather than spelling and grammar.

Fortunately, there has been an ever-so-slight turn around with a renewed (if weak) emphasis on spelling and grammar, mostly because colleges and businesses complained bitterly that students were being turned out of high schools who couldn’t write a coherent sentence (as shown in the examples above).

One bright lad said “We are the future of New York City and for some students, The future of the country”. Unfortunately for the future of this once great nation, he’s correct.

Here we see these “studintz of coleur” being taught by people who “lookes like dem” as they like to say. Things should be great for these students with no evil Whitey’s around to sabotage their education. However, things are not great. In fact things are laughably appropriate given their capabilities. Yet with educations like these they’ll will still blame imaginary racism for their lack of upward mobility. The truly sad part however. Is the fact that there will be no shortage of idiotic White liberals to agree with them.

So here’s to all those bright students, may they all be free to digest in their very own information paste, or something. Happy digesting children, and so long to the actual Americans, we got to make way for the future’s fast arriving Americant’s! Derp!!!

    • Max

The “idiotic white liberals” aren’t agreeing with them, they are feeding them a script which is one of the few things which these ‘scriminated studenz can memorize. The left could not in a laboratory, custom-build a more suitable dependency class.

  • Bon, From the Land of Babble

letter read. “We are the future of New York City and for some students,
    The future of the country.”

Unfortunately that semi-literate student is probably right. Which is why I have little reason to be positive about the future of this country.

  • The Final Solution

Yes indeed – they are the future – the “emerging America” we keep hearing about. Dark, dumb, and illiterate just like Rachel Jenteal. These future rocket scientists will no doubt quickly surpass all those useless white men who haven’t got a clue how to work them numbers and build dat technology.

        • Thanks! That’s going in my journal in “favorite quotes” now that I can attribute it. There we go. Now I have a quote from him in there.

When I first read that quote I almost fell out of my chair laughing out of pure joy. I guess it just seemed so fantastic to read something so outrageous for this time period in the liberal PC world we live in. And yet I don’t think anyone has ever disproven it – it makes perfect sense when you observe the animal kingdom and all the various differences in intelligence and then apply that to the races. There’s no evidence whatsoever that we are equal but plenty to the contrary.

    • Jared Arrevois

  • The Final Solution

You need guys like this to teach in America’s classrooms:

  • Jesse James

This is a good and often overlooked point. Nor is it limited to damaging blacks. There are a lot of white kids who would do far better in life to learn a solid skilled labor vocation: electrician, mason, plumber, mechanic, machinist, welder etc. Mike Row talks about the general disrespect for work that goes hand in hand with our societal obsession to encourage everyone to go to college. The whole focus on testing and college prep is failing American children. The increased number of kids getting near worthless liberal arts degrees, the inflated costs of higher education and out of control education debt accrued by young people are the results of an system of government incentives that is over producing college graduates and giving the nation a less qualified work force.

    • I took welding classes at Pikes Peak Community College, and the young white kids in the program were serious and dedicated. They were mostly cowboy types, but solid students and good workers.

    • BonV.Vant

are you saying that those in the trades are always less smart? No way. Many white men decide , especially today, that a trade makes more sense than years paying off a debt for a worthless college education.

      • Jesse James

No that is the opposite of what I am saying. I think a young person today can build a better future for themselves doing skilled trades instead of wasting time and money getting college degrees. Too many people confuse going to college with being smart.

  • Ms. Leroy Goldberg

They are stupid, plain and simple. Stop coddling these things.

  • Mergatroyd

Great reply. Shakespeare also used double and even triple negatives to add nuance to his writing. Double negatives were OK in Olde English up until Latin grammarians wrongly forced Latin grammar rules onto the English language.
I too advocate a return to double and triple negatives.

No issue with split infinitives (horror!) as well, otherwise we wouldn’t have “To BOLDLY go where no man has gone before.”

Contrast that with “To go BOLDLY where… Loses its power, doesn’t it?

    • Katherine McChesney

  • thomas edward

Bingo, a couple years ago I went to several schools with my trade’s apprenticeship application for the students and was just about run out of each one. The academics are just focused on college. Lord help our young people.

  • Chip Carver

This site is amazing in the way it demonstrates how selective with information so many middle-aged perpetual students are. They careen all over the board, true believers to the end.

Lynn actually says Jews have an average IQ of 108 in his papers, not an average of 110, most of this is concentrated in verbal ability, as Jews tend to have sub-par (in comparison with other whites) visuospatial abilities:

This is the same Lynn who lists Germans, Poles, other European ‘groups’ as having IQ averages of 106. Whites are always crammed into a single group when “averages” are created, while E. Asians are separated from SE Asians when average IQ’s are listed. It’s interesting to note that some disingenuous folks add SE Asians back in the mix when trying to widen the SD (standard deviation) of Asian, meaning E Asian IQ’s, to try and and not make the distribution so narrow when compared to that of whites.

But it’s not overall IQ that is the end-all, it’s the structure of intelligence combined with other innate elements in each group that determines a lot of overall factors.

It should be noted that creativity apparently does have a genetic basis – look up work done by scientists (whites and Asians working together) that show that whites carry an allele (“L” version of a serotonin transporter gene) that while it may make whites more prone to depression and anxiety, allows for open, creative thinking, individualism etc. The East Asian carriers of the “S” version of the allele are more likely to demonstrate negative cognitive biases like engaging in narrow thinking, and a cognitive focus that maintains social conformity, interdependence and so on. So much for white culture being the only reason for the greater levels of creativity. It’s genetic. The only thing that will change this will be gene therapy, and you can bet the Asians will get to work on it while whites will be stifled on improvement, for the short term anyway.

At some point the people wrecking the nation will likely cut and run.

Start separating white Nobel Prize winners by nationality and you get a different picture of some things. Although it is true the Nobel Prize has become a political game, with all kinds of behind the scenes pressure put on the judges. The prizes in science do not mean what they used to, they’re becoming as silly as the Noble Peace Prize and Noble Prize for Literature.

As for the admittance of a certain group in high numbers to the best American Universities, that particular group now enjoys such favoritism in admittance that their overall averages are not only below E. Asians, but below those of the top tier whites who are denied access to such schools. Look up the work done by Ron Unz, who’s Jewish by the way, and Kevin MacDonald. There is no more pressure to perform at high levels for a lot of these folks, so they don’t. No matter how smart one is, they need the motivation. A lot of smart whites simply never cared about school and still don’t. A huge majority of Asians do. The people in charge are now so entrenched, they don’t need to do all that well anymore to roll on into Harvard or Yale or Brown or wherever. That they have a very tough time getting in to Cal Tech in large numbers says a lot. But you can be sure they’re working on, right? For all the talk about high achievement, whites are still the overwhelming majority of those with the test scores and grades in terms of sheer numbers, so anti-white admissions policies have to be enforced to keep things as they are.

  • MBlanc46

This is probably cheaper than actually paying a teacher to sit in a classroom for hours with these “students”. It would be cheaper still (and a lot less annoying for the youfs) if we just handed out a high school diploma with the birth certificate for all Negroes.
