Crystal Mangum Found Guilty of 2nd-Degree Murder

Beth Velliquette, News Observer, November 22, 2013

A jury found Crystal Mangum guilty of second-degree murder Friday in the stabbing death of her boyfriend, Reginald Daye, in 2011.

Superior Court Judge Paul Ridgeway sentenced Mangum to a minimum of 14 years and two months to a maximum of 18 years in prison.

Mangum, 35, stabbed Daye, 46, in the side of his chest on April 3, 2011 during a fight at Daye’s apartment. Daye died 10 days later at Duke Hospital from complications from the wound.

Mangum claimed she stabbed Daye in self defense after she fled to the bathroom and he dragged her out by the hair, but Daye told investigators before he died that Mangum attacked him several times with knives before stabbing him in the chest.

In 2006, Mangum accused three Duke lacrosse players of raping her at a party. The charges were dismissed after the evidence did not back up Mangum’s story, but not before her story and accusations made the local and national news.

  • In 15 or so years, when he’s pushing or at 50, and out of prison, and trying to find a new man, I wonder how easy the dating scene for her will be with it known that she stabbed her last boyfriend to death, and also her propensity to lie about being raped.

    • Oil Can Harry

Blacks don’t care. If she has a big rump then after parole the brothas will point at her while bragging “Yo, I’m a hit dat.”

      • So CAL Snowman

As I recall one of Lebron’s teammates slept with his mom. They really don’t care. Also I think “dating scene” has a different meaning in the black community than the White community. In the black community the dating scene probably involves a “holla”, multiple high gravity malt beverages, b – grade weed, and one night of good times. The White dating scene actually involves dinner, movies, friends, lunches, possibly a night at the opera, etc.

      • Whitetrashgang

Also she will get money for being a misunderstood sister and probably get a car and house. Typical homeboys will be lining up around the block for some action. Maybe they will be older like 50-60 but still haven’t grown up.

        • The Wikipedia article says she’s 35 right now, so she’ll be 50 or a little past that. Even if she’s released after the minimum 14.5, she’ll simply be paroled to a halfway house. I can sure think of better places to spend 18 years.

I’m not optimistic about her chances of making parole at her first opportunity, either. Given Mangum’s pathological emotional instability and utter lack of self-control, she’s going to get into plenty of altercations with other inmates, and probably staff as well. The resulting write-ups won’t exactly amuse the parole board.

      • CharlesFinley

Yeah, if there are no white women around at the time.

  • I’m glad she was finally convicted of something serious. Unfortunately, she received a free pass on silly little things like “obstruction of justice” and “arson” in the past, so she was allowed to progress to murder.

I don’t know what sort of negro Daye was, but since he never accused innocent university students of raping him, I must feel a bit of pity here. His sister apparently once tried to warn him about Magnum, but he didn’t listen.

Women are usually right about other women their own age; he should have listened.

Crystal Gail Mangum going to prison?

Don’t it make her brown eyes blue?

      • Alexandra1973

I see what you did there….

        • Oil Can Harry

Actually I prefer her sister Loretta Lynn.

  • D.B. Cooper

OK. I’m sorry, but Crystal Mangum sounds like the name of a cheap booze.

    • [Guest]

When in fact it’s the name of a cheap ______.

    • Fair Dinkum

I’m thinking a cheap malt liquor.

    • capnmorgan5150

      Or a cheap stripper.

      • Cheap? She sure cost those three lacrosse students plenty! Sure; Duke University cut them each a nice check, but the amount of stress they experienced over their prosecution and the humiliation created by the attendant media circus didn’t magically go away.

    • AfricanRockFish

Sounds like the name of a two dollar bottle of champagne.

    • itdoesnotmatter

Playing on words, Au contraire, a Roederer Cristal magnum costs $700-$1000 or more, depending on the vintage.

  • [Guest]

That’s good. But why was she permitted to get away with attempting to lynch several young white men (which she almost succeeded in doing with three—Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty, and Dave Evans)?

    • She did other things later as well. She smashed out the windows of one boyfriend’s car and slashed the tires, and then the piled his clothes in the bathtub of their apartment, doused them with lighter fluid and set them on fire, while kids were inside the aforementioned apartment. He was smart enough to leave her. If he had not, he’d be dead now, instead of Reginald Daye.

      • [Guest]

Yes, and she also stole a car while drunk and attempted to run down a policeman who was pursuing. And the attempted lynching at Duke was not the first time she’d made false accusations of rape.

        For anyone who’s interested:

“Crystal Gail Mangum: Profile of the Duke Rape Accuser” at Fox News

As we say nowadays, she’s “led a troubled life.”

      • Brian

What is the deal with blacks setting people on fire? Mexicans have their knives, Renaissance Venetians had their poisons…

        • Major

You know…same reason they burn down their own cities. homes and businesses that cater to them…anything for a BBQ.

        • itdoesnotmatter

Africans have their “necklacing,” which I suspect will soon find its way here given the Christian churches’ lucrative resettlement sponsorship of Eritreans, Somalians, Nigerians, et. al. Animals all.

      • Garrett Brown

Reginald dated her after that? IQ was about the same between these two “love birds” then. How pathetic, in a quite entertaining way.

  • Truthseeker

You mean this woman was a complete degenerate with no moral compass? Hmmm. No one else seems to be surprised either.

    • Katherine McChesney

Why is anyone surprise. This is normal black behavior. They have no moral compass.

  • Jesse James

Nothing to talk about here, just another savage doing what savages do, spreading chaos, criminality and stupidity around wherever they go.

  • Lord_Steven_Regal

What do the Gang of 88 Duke Professors who signed a letter convicting the lacrosse players without a shred of evidence have to say about this? What does Jesse Jackson who said he would pay for Magnum’s education and never did have to say about her murder conviction?

    • So CAL Snowman

They go after the lacrosse team without a shred of evidence, yet not a peep about all of the rape apes playing college football.

    • willbest

What I don’t understand is why tenure would protect such professors. Its purpose it to protect profs from doing controversial research. Not from joining a lynch mob.

      • I would be very suprised if they were all tenured. Many new university professorships are not tenure-track at all. I also suspect tenure would protect them, since this was willful misconduct on their part in which they abused their status as university employees and which cost Duke University an enormous amount of money.

    • Joseph

They’d conclude that the trauma of the Duke ordeal drove her to these desperate actions and destroyed her ability to relate to men. She should be found not guilty by reason of temporary insanity. The bovine intelligensia can excuse any barbarity in the name of diversity but could never admit that they were wrong.

  • Luca

The OJ syndrome strikes again. Delayed justice is sometimes worth the wait. As my father used to say, “What goes around comes around and Karma’s a b*tch.”

  • MekongDelta69

White guy kills ‘perpetually oppressed’ = Life plus 1,000,000 years
‘Perpetually oppressed’ kills ‘perpetually oppressed’ = 18 years

“Oh waiter – please bring a Magnum of Crystal to my V.I.P. table.”

    • Sick of it

It’s more time than a lot of them get for killing white people.

  • dd121

I was a lot more angry at the white prosecutor who was trying to make political hay out of all the false accusations when he knew they were false.

    • Spartacus

Shouldn’t he be serving some time in prison as well ?

      • Strider73

IIRC he served one day in jail and was disbarred.

The tradition of sovereign immunity must be destroyed. It allows police, prosecutors, judges, etc. to harass, intimidate and railroad people they know to be innocent, without facing any real repercussions. If they faced serious jail time and/or being sued into penury, their behavior would improve dramatically.

        • Spartacus

No, immunity for judges and prosecutors should probably be kept, and some kind of system put in place to punish those who act like this knowingly. From what I’ve read about the case, I seriously doubt he didn’t realize early on that this was a hoax .

        • dd121

The system worked pretty well until recent years when it has been used by the left as a club against their political enemies. It’s just evidence that the whole system is beginning to break down.

          • Xerxes22

It’s not just the left that abuses it. It is often abused by greedy power hungry DAs who see their position as a stepping stone to political office like that witch in Florida.

          • dd121

That’s always been true but now it has a very definite left wing tinge of punishing their right wing enemies. It’s a real shift.

    • OneAmericanAmongMany

He didn’t just know they were false, he hid exculpatory evidence. A whistle blower who did the forensics on the rape kit called him out, because his error of omission made the scientist look like a boob. And yes, he should have been thrown in jail for his handiwork.

  • Spartacus

    • Alexandra1973

      LOL Cue Nelson!

If you ask me she should also be doing time for false accusation.

      • 1Forced_Registration

“Time” for false accusations of rape? ha. Time translates into a fine, a psyche referral, and probation. At most 6 months in prison, but its extremely rare.

      • SFLBIB

When Tawana Brawley, a young black woman in New York City, invented the story that she had been raped by white men, her cause was loudly championed by people [like Al Sharpton] who acted as if the truth or falsity of her story was irrelevant. And after it was shown to be false, her role in the story of black oppression was defended by some who wrote that even if she did fake the crime, her “condition” was the expression of “some” crime against her that entitled her to be the object of our grieving. … Making the legal process the wholly subjective expression of group-determined minds ends the
possibility of people from different groups agreeing about anything [“dialog” about race, anyone?] and converts the objectivity of the law into an expression of group beliefs. And that means the end of the rule of law. (Emphasis added)
Moral Judgment:, by Prof. James Q. Wilson

        • capnmorgan5150

There’s no right or wrong anymore, just popular opinion.

          • SFLBIB

I disagree. There is only one “right” opinion: the modern liberal opinion.

      • Funny you should mention that.

False reporting of a misdemeanor is simply another misdemeanor: “false reporting”. On the other hand, false reporting of a felony – like gang-rape – isn’t. It is felony “obstruction of justice”.

  • libertarian1234

Sharpton was screaming about non-existent white on black rape threatening to riot, as always, pretending that it was commonplace.

It isn’t of course, and it hasn’t been. What is commonplace are the thousands of black on white rapes that occur in the tens of thousands every year. Lawrence Auster wrote an article for Front Page Mag definitively outlining 37, 500 black on white rapes that occurred in 2005 from the crime tables at the US Dept. of Justice.

The talk show pundits missed an excellent opportunity to highlight black on white rape with this incident, because it’s verified with FBI stats and the issue was raised by Sharpton and other blacks, allowing the opposition to respond rather than raise the issue out of the blue, which would have been a target for a charge of racism. As always, they let it pass afraid to utter a peep.

Likewise, nobody raised the issue of out-of-control black crime in the Trayvon Martin debacle, illustrating that “walking while black,” wouldn’t be an issue if black crime and violence wasn’t so numerous, citing figures again from the Dept. of Justice.

The black on white assaults now are at least getting a bit of airing, so maybe this issue can segue into a narrative of the overall black crime situation and offer an opportunity for Amren to update a new issue of the Color of Crime.

Mailing them out to conservative talk show hosts would be timely and the move would fit right in to the narrative, especially since it involves facts and figures from law enforcement.

  • Dave4088

I expect the anti-white media to spin her criminal actions as the result of what she suffered at the hands of the Duke Lacrosse team. Facts don’t matter and blacks are NEVER responsible for their actions. If it weren’t for that, who knows, she might have be the next Oprah Winfrey.

  • RisingReich

Now we get to pay to feed and house this animal for almost two decades.

    • I am happy she isn’t out at large. She tried to ruin the lives of white men who were guilty only of hiring strippers, and then killed another guy who was apparently guilty only of being black.

  • Zaporizhian Sich

Good riddance, she should have been thrown in jail when she was exposed as the perjurer she is. Ruining the lives of white men because she is a racist “suki,” and rest assured you do not call a woman that in Eastern Europe unless she is a whore. She should have be “Nifonged” just as the vile excuse for a white male prosecutor who nearly had those young white men locked up for a crime they did not commit.

  • Funruffian

Dealing with Bantus can really be a Lose-Lose situation. You don’t want to get to associated with the females, because they may pull some false accusation. And if that doesn’t work, they can always attack you physically.

  • Funruffian

That Rape case was such a Non-case. All they had to do is take one look at this creature and collectively conclude that the average College guy would never even consider bedding this thing even if he was stinking drunk.

    • willbest

That isn’t true… drunk frat guys will bed pretty much anything.

  • The real mystery here is why she was not sentenced to complete an anger-management class and attend mandatory weekly meetings with a psychiatrist after the arson incident. Anyone who sets a fire in her own apartment while her children are in it clearly has “issues”. In most states, she could also have received civil confinement in a mental institution, since that incident clearly indicated she was a danger to others.

I am thus left with a fairly low opinion of the courts in the Raleigh-Durham area.

    • itdoesnotmatter

Michael, classes, therapy, anger management for a jungle creature? For an intractable status offending black psycho? Waste of time proven over and over.
She should have been incarcerated early on. She is dangerous.

      • A year of weekly classes with her own time and money involved might have made her think a little about this sort of behavior… naaah… you’re right.

        • itdoesnotmatter

Phew, glad we got that sorted. You had me worried for a bit, Michael.

  • alex

Some internet warriors here in the past, have expressed contempt for whites who weren’t too eager to engage in physical confrontations with blacks in general and black women in particular.
    Now you know why…
Actually, I wouldn’t call them women. They are female Ghetto Africanus.

    • One of my friends in prison had been a drug user before his arrest, and once got into a heated argument with another dug user, a black gal. She pulled out a knife and carved him up quite badly. It’s better to just avoid them (it’s also better to avoid drugs).

      • alex

You are right. It’s better to avoid them, but I would just add….and to be prepared.

    • John R

I agree. It is best to avoid physical confrontation. It is not out of cowardice. It is out of knowledge. I fear blacks and am wary of them the same way I am of a rabid pit bull terrier. And you are also right in that there are too many people that try to act tough on the internet, from behind their computer screens.

  • Bob

So I guess Sharpton will get sacked from msnbc now… lol…facts mean jack to these hypocrites.

    • The smart money is that $harpton will claim she was the innocent victim of a racist white legal system in which blacks can not receive a fair trial. He is what he is: a dyed-in-the-wool race huckster.

An equally safe bet is that he will not bother putting any money on her books for commissary purchases in prison. The Crystal Magnums of the US are individually expendable to folks like Al $harpton and Je$$e Jack$on, because there will always be more of them.

  • WR_the_realist

Now, if only the white lefty professors who jumped in to join Crystal Mangum’s accusations against the Duke lacrosse players would also get hard time.

  • Katherine McChesney

It wasn’t ‘karma’. What she experienced was the result of her poor life choices and her lack of morals.

P.S. ‘Karma’ is just a made up term for pagans.

    • itdoesnotmatter

Karma is not pagan-ese. Katherine, your friendly Zen Buddhist here to clarify.
Karma means “action.” Many confuse “karma” with fallout from unskillful behavior. Not accurate.
Specifically, karma is an action that leaves residue requiring further action. Not in a dualistic, Christian sense of a sin that will beget hellfire punishment, or good vs bad/evil. Simply put, some actions=consequences that must be addressed down the line.
Crystal is experiencing what is appropriately called, “the fruits of karma,” her indebtedness.

  • Truth Teller

    Question Diversity
I don’t think Mangum “dates” in the way Whites do.

    • Touche.

      Let me try again.

“Dating scene,” such as it is among blacks.

Even then, she won’t really be a hot catch, entirely because of her history.

      • As it happens, that Daye fellow she killed was told by his own sister that Magnum was a psycho and that he ought to find someone else. As “dating” material goes, Magnum was radioactive even by black standards.

    • alex

Her “dates” are exchanges of sexual favors and money, drugs, food, etc. After the date is finished, the male Ghetto-Africanus should leave the scene of as soon as possible to avoid being robbed and/or murdered by Mangum or another male Ghetto-Africanus.

  • AfricanRockFish

Lawdy lawdy! She done killed her boo and only got 18 years…tops?!

    • Nice avatar and screen name! Once I “got it”, I had a nice chuckle.

“Can’t we all just learn to swim?”

    • Magician

That is actually longer than what I expected

When a black person commits a murder crime I noticed the sentence was usually 5-10 years

  • Garrett Brown

You reap what you sow. Good riddance crazy bitch.

    • Mangum was given too many chances and decided this situation would go on forever. After burning up her apartment, she later had to move in with her mother and was allowed visits with her children only with supervision by Child Protective Services staff. She only did three months in the county jail on that one, and her sentence was “time served”, so in her mind she skated. Anyone can do three months! That’s nothing.

The courts there allowed her to become accustomed to being a psycho and to think she would be able to continue to be one with nary a serious consequence. In the arson case, the jury was hung, and the assistant DA decided not to re-try the charge. That’s crazy! Arson in multifamily residential housing like an apartment building?

Mangum became progressively less stable as she grew older rather than more so. I’m a chemical engineer by training and no psychiatrist, but I’m going to say she has a strong element of Borderline Personality Disorder. They can be very manipulative, so Mangum was able to keep this Daye guy around, but she also liked hurting her boyfriends, and anyone else she was near.

      • Garrett Brown

She be trippin wif dat knife homey.

  • odious liberal

  • Sloppo

I suspect they got paid quite well for their troubles. It also may have brought some satisfaction to see humiliation and financial liability heaped upon the people who initially condemned them. Nevertheless, I do believe that Nifong and the dark creature should have been forced to share a small cozy cell for a duration equal to the sum of what the sentences would have been if the set-up had worked.

  • DiversityIsDeath

    “Character is destiny.” — Heraclitus.

    • I have a framed sign in my office here that says more of the same thing:

      “Thoughts become actions.
      Actions become habits.
      Habits become character.
      Character becomes destiny.”

I wonder if Heraclitus said all of that or just the last part.

  • John R

Good post, and a reminder of why White parents must be careful whom their children hang around, and that they don’t assimilate ni$%er values.

  • OTOH, unlike a certain other black woman, she probably read and wrote in cursive. Which means she was college ready.

  • I doubt it. Eighteen years from now, Al $harpton will be 77, and judging from the way he looks today, he won’t last that long. Je$$e Jack$on will be 90. I think without anyone with instant 24/7 media access around to hype the matter, Mangum will have been completely forgotten by the public when she’s eventually released.

  • Apparently she completed a two-year Associate’s Degree in 2004 from Durham Technical Community College, but I haven’t been able to discover what she studied. The really ironic aspect to her “academic” career was that at one point Mangum was enrolled full-time at North Carolina Central University, an HBCU located in Durham, studying – get this – police psychology. In retrospect, this is hilarious!

  • Major

If white Americans continue to run scared at the sound of the term “racist,” Holder and Obama by extension, will continue on their paths of destroying the country. I am convinced that Obama was groomed for politics by the left for the reason that he could be used as an object of “racism.” (The left, in this instance, being the conglomerate of powerful progressive, background players who manipulate politics to their benefit.)

These controlling entities must have known that Obama was ill-equipped for the task of leading a great nation and would eventually be exposed as ill-equipped. When that eventuality happened, the race card would be the strategy used to scare off white folks. And so far, the scheme is working.

Until my Caucasian fellow Americans wake up to this reality – that Obama does what he does because they allow him to – we will continue to be victimized. The white nation will continue to be victimized.

Race relations in America will never improve, nor will we ever elevate our culture, as long as there are victims to be pandered to and villains to be vilified. America is better served without victims or villains.

I’m glad the Duke LaCrosse players were finally absolved, found not guilty. I always knew it was a false accusation and story. I understand Ms. Mangum was an “exotic” dancer hired for their party. I hope their ordeal taught them a hard lesson to never have anything to do with Black women. Crystal Mangum — along with the MSM and prosecutors — almost destroyed their lives.

    • Garrett Brown

Funny thing is they didn’t want a black stripper lol. She shouldn’t have even been there.

      • The funnier thing is that Mangum showed up drunk already and got into an altercation with the other stripper that resulted in the police being called to remove her from the party.

      • John R

They didn’t want a black stripper? OMG! Hey, charge them with a HATE CRIME! This is RAYCIZZZMMM.

Well the three Duke students constantly appeared in the mainstream media for a couple of months even before the judge and the jury made any kind of a decision. But this woman actually received a sentence more than a decade long and the mainstream media says ….. *crickets*

What is your point? Sounds like you think we are being mean to this “poor woman.”

      • Magician

No I notice the mainstream media is once again responding with deafening silence when a black person commits a crime

This is interesting but not at all surprising:

“Duke Rape Accuser Got 160 TV News Stories on Accusation, 3 on Murder Conviction”
    27 November 2013

(CNSNews[dot]com) – When Crystal Mangum falsely accused several Duke lacrosse players of rape in 2006, there were 160 major television news stories in the first five days after the players were arrested, but in 2013, when Mangum was convicted of murder and sentenced to 14 years in prison, there were only 3 major television news stories, a difference in coverage of 5,233%.

…The big television networks – ABC, CBS, and NBC – and the liberal MSNBC and NPR did not report on Mangum’s murder conviction.

  • fire lion

Hilarious. Sex crimes get ridiculous sentences on the first offense. Those duke lacrosse players would have done more time and had to register as sex offenders ( which pretty much destroys your life)

14 years for murder? but a man can get 20 years for sleeping with a drunk girl? I hope this evil empire falls soon.

  • Lauri Smith

It makes no difference that she is black or not. The fact is that Crystal Gayle Mangum is a disgusting, lying murderer and has no business ever getting out of jail! Her children are far better off without her influence in their lives. She’s off the streets, at least for a while, but unfortunately someone had to die to get this scumbag locked up.

    • bv

Who cares about her spawn? All they’re going to be are future criminals.
