Pledge of Allegiance Skipped, Muslim Poem Read at Boston School on 9/11

Jessica Chasmar, Washington Times, September 12, 2013

The principal of Concord Carlisle High School in Boston issued an apology Wednesday after a Muslim poem was recited over the intercom on the 12th anniversary of 9/11, and the Pledge of Allegiance was not.

According to principal Peter Badalament, a “small number” of people were outraged at the poem, which was meant to promote “cross-cultural understanding,” reported. Apparently, the Pledge of Allegiance was not read because of some confusion.

“Yesterday was the first Wednesday of the school year; we were unaware that our student Pledge reader had an internship commitment on this day,” Mr. Badalament said in the statement. “This was our responsibility to know. We humbly apologize that this oversight and communication gap occurred.”

Mohja Kahf’s “My Grandmother Washes Her Feet in the Sink of the Bathroom at Sears,” tells a granddaughter’s account of watching her grandmother adhere to the religious Muslim custom of washing her feet five times a day, reported.

    What took them so long?

America has been dead since 1954, and they are just now getting around to this?

Progress was supposed to be faster.

    • me

Peter Badalament, the school principle, should be tarred and feathered, then given forty lashes in front of city hall for allowing such a repulsive thing to happen. Ditto for the ‘young poetess’.

  • ncpride

Talk about a slap in the face. ‘Oversight’ my foot. I don’t buy that for a second. Just more brainwashing for the little American peeps.

    • Andy

I buy the thing about the pledge. I doubt they were too concerned about it getting said, though. But the POEM. Using it as indoctrination is just insulting.

My grandmother puts her feet in the sink
      of the bathroom at Sears
to wash them in the ritual washing for prayer,
because she has to pray in the store or miss
the mandatory prayer time for Muslims
She does it with great poise, balancing
herself with one plump matronly arm
against the automated hot-air hand dryer,
after having removed her support knee-highs
and laid them aside, folded in thirds,
and given me her purse and her packages to hold
so she can accomplish this august ritual

and get back to the ritual of shopping for housewares
Respectable Sears matrons shake their heads and frown
as they notice what my grandmother is doing,
      an affront to American porcelain,
      a contamination of American Standards
      by something foreign and unhygienic
requiring civic action and possible use of disinfectant spray
They fluster about and flutter their hands and I can see
a clash of civilizations brewing in the Sears bathroom

My grandmother, though she speaks no English,
catches their meaning and her look in the mirror says,
I have washed my feet over Iznik tile in Istanbul
with water from the world’s ancient irrigation systems
I have washed my feet in the bathhouses of Damascus
over painted bowls imported from China
among the best families of Aleppo
And if you Americans knew anything
      about civilization and cleanliness,
      you’d make wider washbins, anyway

My grandmother knows one culture—the right one,
as do these matrons of the Middle West. For them,
my grandmother might as well have been squatting
in the mud over a rusty tin in vaguely tropical squalor,
Mexican or Middle Eastern, it doesn’t matter which,
when she lifts her well-groomed foot and puts it over the edge.
“You can’t do that,” one of the women protests,
turning to me, “Tell her she can’t do that.”
“We wash our feet five times a day,”
my grandmother declares hotly in Arabic.
“My feet are cleaner than their sink.
Worried about their sink, are they? I
      should worry about my feet!”
My grandmother nudges me, “Go on, tell them.”

Standing between the door and the mirror, I can see
at multiple angles, my grandmother and the other shoppers,
all of them decent and goodhearted women, diligent
      in cleanliness, grooming, and decorum
Even now my grandmother, not to be rushed,
is delicately drying her pumps with tissues from her purse
For my grandmother always wears well-turned pumps
that match her purse, I think in case someone
from one of the best families of Aleppo
should run into her—here, in front of the Kenmore display

I smile at the midwestern women
as if my grandmother has just said something lovely about them
and shrug at my grandmother as if they
      had just apologized through me
No one is fooled, but I

hold the door open for everyone
and we all emerge on the sales floor
and lose ourselves in the great common ground
      of housewares on markdown.

      • GeneticsareDestiny

And if you Americans knew anything
        about civilization and cleanliness,
        you’d make wider washbins, anyway

Yep, we Americans sure are disgusting and filthy. We know absolutely nothing about creating livable civilizations, so all the Muslims should go back to their own state-of-the-art, highly advanced nations and leave us all alone.

        Oh wait.

(Also, I’m not sure about typical Muslim bathing habits, but I doubt they shower every day like most Americans. Especially not the women. Maybe they wouldn’t need to wash their feet so often if they showered properly with soap daily.)

        • Boris McGuffin

My Dad worked for a company that one time hosted some Arab muslim businessmen on a visit. He picked them up from the airport and was nearly knocked over by their awful smell. In the car, it was getting so bad that he had to keep hiding his gagging reflex.

I’ve smelled arabs before, too, and it is something I’ll never forget.

        • kjh64

I’ve been around some of them and believe me, they don’t bathe like Americans do. That’s for sure.

      • Boris McGuffin

Was that really the poem? I feel nauseous. That should be outlawed. When did they become entitled to come over here and disrespect us with their disgusting practices?

        • pcmustgo

Poetry these days is just a eupehmism for anti-white rants… trust me, I live in NYC and almost all poems these days are about hating whites.

      • “My grandmother knows one culture—the right one”

        Cross-cultural understanding?

        • sbuffalonative

This ‘poem’ is repulsive and condescending to Americans. How dare they move here and tell us they have the correct culture.

They believe they have the superior culture which they intend to make us adopt. And the ‘funny’ thing is we’re letting them in and letting them change our culture.

What can you expect from a religion founded by a pedophile.

          • negrolocaust

…..ALERT!! to all in MARYLAND. the gun laws change on october 1st. state

          • Sick of it

Apparently we can expect really clean feet, but everything else dirty. Minds included.

      • Greg Thomas

These muslim pigs are disgusting. So is the bastard that allowed this “poem” to be read aloud in a school.

      • dukem1

        1. No matter how low the bar is set, what sentient educator could call this screed poetry.
        2. That said, it’s a kind of interesting take on the immigrant experience – new world vs old and all that…like Samoans having a pony roast or something.
        3. Years and years ago I went to see Dr. John, the Night Tripper play at a club in Cleveland. Between sets, my bud was in the men’s room when Dr. John came in. He used to where robes and sandals and all the kind of stuff a night tripper would wear. He put one of his sandalled feet in the sink and turned on the water, looked over at my friend and said, “Man, my feet is funky.”

      • Homo_Occidentalis

It doesn’t get more all All-American than that poem! Wow!

      • sbuffalonative

THEY attack US and WE’RE supposed to adopt THEIR culture. Technically, THEY have conquered US.

      The world has gone mad.

      • Junis

One reason why the ‘white’ race is inferior is that she cannot understand that Israel did 9/11. Contrast this to a black or Muslim kid who from day 1 knew that Zionist Jews did 9/11 on 11 september 2001.

You’d think after last April, Boston wouldn’t be in the mood to do any of this. I guess Boston Strong wasn’t for Boston long.

  • mobilebay

Another outrage! When will the people of this nation wake up?

  • bigone4u

A “small number” are offended? Tell another lie you multicultural twit. Oh, you just did: The Pledge of Allegiance was overlooked? Two lies in one day. You must be so proud of yourself, you scum.

    • Only in a White school would there likely be a high number of people offended.

  • Oil Can Harry

Mental note: do NOT use the bathroom sink at Sears.

    • Junis

Most ‘white’ people probably did not anyway. Nuff said. 🙂

  • willbest

If Islam were really the religion of peace, nobody would have to be reminded of it over and over and over.

    • Junis

The Jews control the mainstream media so the reminder is necessary. Israel did 9/11.

I would think that thoughts of reconciliation would be appropriate if there had been some attempt by both parties to reconcile. That has not happened. They have sworn to destroy us and our civilization. So why this fraud to make nice? All of our efforts should be directed to destroying them first.

  • Chris

Can I read my poem? Its called “I took a dump in a mosque and didn’t flush.”

  • Biff_Maliboo

I thought Frank Zappa wrote that.

        Cartoon realism, brilliant.

      • Way more realistic than the original.

      • cecilhenry

Great cartoon. Describes the horrid feeling I had traveling through Europe this summer.

You know what’s strange, none of my family dared mention it, but I could tell they noticed.

        DEprogramming is slow.

My brother noted that it would be nice to ‘go to a corner store and find a not find a Pakistani, he’d like to actually deal with at European now and then’.

OOOOHH that’s horrid–he should have said it would be nice if they were ALL Pakistani—everywhere!!!

But still he can’t connect that to a bigger picture. (He went to university though!!!)

But he’s not racist so Yayyyyyy!!!

      • William Krapek

        I agree. Completely brilliant!

    • Bon, From the Land of Babble

No anti-American, Muslim poem should EVER be read in am American school, least of all on 911.

Here is something they will understand:

. . .The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked…

      Psalm 58

      • I’ve been looking for an ISO warning sign like the one on top. I collect those signs.

      • Romulus

        Thanks BON!!! That was fantastic.!

  • Bon, From the Land of Babble

Typical leftoid: “Apology” after the fact. Did they try to get “cross cultural bombing expert” and Tsarnaev to recite the poem? Guess he was unavailable.

“Respectable Sears matrons shake their heads and frown,” Miss Kahf writes, “as they notice what my grandmother is doing … an affront to American porcelain … a contamination of American Standards by something foreign and unhygienic requiring civic action and possible use of disinfectant spray.”

That idiot principal AND the muslim grandmother should be waterborded in that Sears toilet!!

And I thought gender-neutral bathrooms and locker rooms in California’s public schools was bad:

Seven teachers at Concord-Carlisle High School hold assembly telling students how they “came out” as homosexuals — encouraging students to do the same

On October 21, a group of seven homosexual teachers at Concord-Carlisle High School led an afternoon assembly describing to students how they ‘came out’ as homosexuals, and how ‘their lives have improved as a result.’ They emphasized that ‘coming out”’- publicly declaring oneself as ‘gay’ or ‘transgender’ – is a healthy growth experience, and that once you’ve finally internalized that you’re ‘gay’ (or “transgender”) it’s permanent but satisfying.

http:// www dot massresistance dot org / docs / gen / 10d / coming out assembly / index dot html

Then there is also that issue of “fisting” being taught to Mass. Public School children…

Folks, I’ve always maintained that THE most dangerous institution in America is its public schools, followed by the one-sided biased American media.

    • bigone4u

Good research by you. The schools and the media are the instruments of our degradation, but the most dangerous element is those who are behind all of this. I can’t say who they are, but I think we know. Henry Makow and David Icke do a good job of identifying the men with money who are destroying our children and us.

    • NorthSea

Say it slowly and internalize it: HOME SCHOOL

    • Xerxes22

These people like to pull this nonsense in front of a captive audience like a school assembly. That way it’s difficult for their audience to walk out on them or tune them out. BTW, I doubt that Concord-Carlisle H.S. is your typical public school. The town is only 2% Black and the median family income is $198,000.

  • Boris McGuffin

I thought the original 9/11 gave us plenty of cross-cultural understanding.

    • I also suspect our response left them under no illusions as to their status in world civilization.

  • Greg Thomas

    Muslim pigs are disgusting.

  • Skip Wellington

Good thing the poem, “Achmed washes his privates at the urinal” wasn’t broadcast.

    Oh my stars!

    • Rusty Shackelford

They are saving that for Health Week.

  • The washing of feet 5 times a day probably made more sense when they were walking barefoot in the desert. Well, not really then either.

  • Erasmus

Muslims do not belong in America, Europe or Australia, plain and simple.

If Muslims are so great, why aren’t they importing them to Mexico and other Latin American countries?

    • Junis

It is all part of the great Zionist plan in bombing Islamic countries so that, amongst other things, Muslim refugees need to go to a nation of pork eating pigs.

  • dukem1

Uh…I think those of us here at AmRen pretty much know the score.

  • Some public restrooms now have Muslim foot baths. I always defecate in these.

  • Rusty Shackelford

Yes, but they didn’t read “Habib Throws Acid In The Face of the Girl Who Rejected Him” by famed poet Husbin Fartin. What a pity.

  • Boris McGuffin

Someone should develop a mechanism to install in public restrooms whereby when it detects that someone has put their feet in the sink, pig’s blood streams out of the faucet.

  • A Freespeechzone

We have to take some responsibility for allowing this crap to happen—too many Americans are complacent & allow politicians and the courts cater to those who hate us, our Constitution and very being.

I will NEVER comply to support the vile, violent and evil muslims and islam

  • libertarian1234

“The poem was “My Grandmother Washes Her Feet in the Sink of the Bathroom at Sears.”

No wonder they elected to read the poem. Just the title has me all choked up.

    How beautiful.

Did the principal wash his hands and face in the same sink after she left?

And was his nose, cheeks and chin covered with athlete’s foot powder the next day?

  • Gislia Jackson

Vic Morrow stated it best in the Twilight Zone movie. An Arab is just a n****r in a sheet.

  • Sick of it

The National Anthem is better. It’s authentic.

  • My grandmother would have enough common sense to bring along some handi-wipes if she was a Muslim. I thank Science she his not.

  • emiledurk16

Promoting cross cultural understanding on 9/11 by having a Muslim poem read through the intercom.
Could these people be any more demented?

    • Funny you should ask that, and sadly the answer is yes. Last year, an Egyptian man visiting Saudi Arabia was convicted of “witchcraft”. He wasn’t expelled as an “undesirable alien”, but instead was beheaded in public. That is how demented they already are.

I learned long ago that there is no situation so bad that it can not get worse. The honest answer to your question is that there is no limit to stupidity and organized depravity in humans, quasi-humans, proto-humans and subhumans. That pit has no bottom. There are only percentages, degrees and probably shelves on the way down.

  • Romulus

Whaaat???!!! This coming from a bunch of tent living goat herders!!!!
Part of our briefing before operation desert storm , we were informed not to do anything with our left hand or to extend it in greeting because some of the saudi’s use it to wipe their backsides with it. It’s considered an insult. Insult my foot!!!. Stinking like a methane sewer pit is an insult.

  • Wilkins Micawber

Doggerel, pure, unadulterated, bigoted doggerel. Both this “poem” and the idiotic Koran as well.

  • CharlesFinley

It’s all over but the shouting.

  • Junis

Your comment is proof that the shorter it is, the more likely it will be liked.

  • Junis

Think a bit why they do: it is because America keeps making them in habitual through bomb dropping for Israel’s safety.

  • odious liberal

Of course your family washes at the sink in Sears, I expect no less from sub-human garbage.

  • I told you so. There is no bottom to that pit.
