King’s Dream Remains an Elusive Goal; Many Americans See Racial Disparities

Pew Research, August 22, 2013

Five decades after Martin Luther King’s historic “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington, D.C., a new survey by the Pew Research Center finds that fewer than half (45%) of all Americans say the country has made substantial progress toward racial equality and about the same share (49%) say that “a lot more” remains to be done.

Blacks are much more downbeat than whites about the pace of progress toward a color-blind society. They are also more likely to say that blacks are treated less fairly than whites by police, the courts, public schools and other key community institutions.

While these differences by race are large, significant minorities of whites agree that blacks receive unequal treatment when dealing with the criminal justice system.

For example, seven-in-ten blacks and about a third of whites (37%) say blacks are treated less fairly in their dealings with the police.

Similarly, about two-thirds of black respondents (68%) and a quarter of whites (27%) say blacks are not treated as fairly as whites in the courts.

The survey also finds that large majorities of blacks (73%) and whites (81%) say the two races generally get along either “very well” or “pretty well.”

Similarly, large majorities of Hispanics and whites say the same thing about relations between their groups (74% and 77%, respectively). A substantial majority of blacks (78%) and smaller share of Hispanics (61%) say their groups get along.

Still, about a third of all blacks (35%) say they had been discriminated against or treated unfairly because of their race in the past year, as do 20% of Hispanics and 10% of whites.

The nationally representative survey of 2,231 adults, including 376 blacks and 218 Hispanics, was conducted by telephone Aug. 1-11.

50 Years of Change

The mixed views on progress toward racial equality found in the survey results are echoed in the findings of a Pew Research Center analysis of U.S. government data on indicators of well-being and civic engagement, including personal finance, life expectancy, educational attainment and voter participation. These data look at equality of outcomes rather than equality of opportunity.

The analysis finds that the economic gulf between blacks and whites that was present half a century ago largely remains. When it comes to household income and household wealth, the gaps between blacks and whites have widened. On measures such as high school completion and life expectancy, they have narrowed. On other measures, including poverty and homeownership rates, the gaps are roughly the same as they were 40 years ago.

Finances. Between 1967 and 2011 the median income of a black household of three rose from about $24,000 to nearly $40,000.1 Expressed as a share of white income, black households earn about 59% of what white households earn, a small increase from 55% in 1967. But when expressed as dollars, the black-white income gap widened, from about $19,000 in the late 1960s to roughly $27,000 today. The race gap on household wealth has increased from $75,224 in 1984 to $84,960 in 2011.

Other indicators of financial well-being have changed little in recent decades, including homeownership rates and the share of each race that live above the poverty line. The black unemployment rate also has consistently been about double that of whites since the 1950s.

Education. High school completion rates have converged since the 1960s, and now about nine-in-ten blacks and whites have a high school diploma. The trend in college completion rates tell a more nuanced story. Today, white adults 25 and older are significantly more likely than blacks to have completed at least a bachelor’s degree (34% vs. 21%, a 13 percentage point difference). Fifty years ago, the completion gap between whites and blacks was about 6 percentage points (10% vs. 4%). But expressed a different way, the black completion rate as a percentage of the white rate has improved from 42% then to 62% now.

Family formation. The analysis finds growing disparities in key measures of family formation. Marriage rates among whites and blacks have declined in the past 50 years, and the black-white difference has nearly doubled. Today about 55% of whites and 31% of blacks ages 18 and older are married. In 1960, 74% of whites and roughly six-in-ten blacks (61%) were married. The share of births to unmarried women has risen sharply for both groups; black mothers of newborns today are about two and a half times as likely as whites to be unmarried—72% vs. 29%.

Incarceration. Black men were more than six times as likely as white men in 2010 to be incarcerated in federal and state prisons, and local jails, the last year complete data are available. That is an increase from 1960, when black men were five times as likely as whites to be incarcerated.

Voter turnout. Participation rates for blacks in presidential elections has lagged behind those of whites for most of the past half century but has been rising since 1996. Buoyed by the historic candidacies of Barack Obama, blacks nearly caught up with whites in 2008 and surpassed them in 2012, when 67% of eligible blacks cast ballots, compared with 64% of eligible whites.

Life Expectancy. The gap in life expectancy rates among blacks and whites has narrowed in the past five decades from about seven years to four.

Looking Back Five Years

While demographic change happens slowly, attitudes can change quickly. The Pew Research Center survey finds that since 2009, there has been a fading of the heightened sense of progress that blacks felt immediately after Obama’s election in 2008.

Today, only about one-in-four African Americans (26%) say the situation of black people in this country is better now than it was five years ago, down sharply from the 39% who said the same in a 2009 Pew Research Center survey.

Among whites, the share that sees improvement in situation of blacks also fell, from 49% to 35%, in the last four years.

For both blacks and whites, the latest finding on this question is returning to the levels recorded in a Pew Research Center poll in 2007 on the eve of the Great Recession.

In the latest survey, opinions about black progress vary considerably by educational attainment among blacks, a change from the 2009 survey when there was no gap by education among blacks.

In the current poll, only 22% of blacks who have attended at least some college say the situation of black people in this country is better today than it was five years ago. Among those with a high school education or less, roughly one-third say things are better.

About the Report

The remainder of this report is organized in the following way. The first chapter breaks down the public’s perception of progress toward racial equality over the past 50 years. The second chapter focuses on perceptions of change in just the past five years among key demographic groups and compares the latest survey results with those from previous Pew Research Center surveys. The final chapter tracks changes in key measures of well-being for blacks and whites over the past 50 years as measured by the U.S. Census and other government statistics.

Mrrf. geez. Why can’t we all get along = why can’t whites accept beign beaten by blacks

    • Erasmus

Grifters like Je$$e Jack$on, Al $harpton and even Barack Obama were going to guarantee that any dream King had would be DOA. They and the other race hustlers and the tens millions of beneficiaries of reverse discrimination are too invested in racism.

IOW King’s dream would put an end to the nice livings they’re now enjoying.

      • A Freespeechzone

I’m of the opinion that if MLK was alive, he’d be as bad or worse than Obama, Jackson or Sharpton…..they are cut from the same cloth.

        • cancerous bananna

Mlk probably knew and believed what he said.. Just at that time, the truth wasn’t as evident to the masses as its becoming now.. I feel the evolution history of white’s will say:
“They were tolerant and peaceful Enough to attempt to attain the pinnacle of enlightenment and diversity. When that failed and their openness was seen as a weakness they could no longer contain themselves from reclaiming all things they had a right in claiming and making in the beginning… the welfare state was abolished and people began working for their own and making what they own on their own.. and those who relied on them suffered most .”

          God bless my ramblings. Amen.

          • Formerly_Known_as_Whiteplight

MLK was completely cynical and a hypocrite. He fathered children out of wedlock and had a voracious sexual appetite. Hoover had files on him and every politician in that period. Moreover, I believe that he absolutely expected there to be riots. He role was to play the righteous, persecuted Black Jesus. He was a good actor.

      • Formerly_Known_as_Whiteplight

I really believe that MLK knew that violence would follow in his trial. If you really study his campaign, he was obviously pretending to the “Black Jesus” persecuted and killed by the white mobs. He was a hypocrite and completely cynical regarding his actual “walk.” Hoover had files on MLK that included his voracious sexual appetite along with his connections to the CPUSA through his alma matter, Millbrook College (Millbrook House).

How exactly are we to make progress toward racial equality? Since when do whites control black IQ and moral sense?

    • William Krapek

Yeah I’m pushing 50. It was okay to try and “think around” the obvious conclusions about race in this country when I was young and didn’t have kids, but now that I’m getting older I know it’s time to trust that gut instinct and trust what my own lying eyes are telling me. I’ll work very hard to stay around white people from now on.

Reading “Negroes in Negroland” now. There’s a lot of runaway psycho in that community.

      • NeanderthalDNA

That (Negroes in Negroland) is an invaluable insight into the nature of the negro. Puts so much into proper context.

    • me

Shhhh…..the ‘progressives’ will start giving Whites ‘mandatory’ lobotomies in the name of ‘equality’.

      • Formerly_Known_as_Whiteplight

Don’t you think that they have already through the public education system? It’s reversible though.

  • NeanderthalDNA

Obama’s victory did not raise the average IQ of the American black by 15 points.

    • me

No, but it made them bolder to commit more Black on White crime…..

  • Puggg

The life expectancy gap has been narrowed because of Medicare and Medicaid, and partially because so many blacks are incarcerated, they can’t do damaging things to each other and themselves as easily as they could on the outside.

The high school diploma gap is narrowing because the standards have been lowered, blacks will get passing grades essentially for just showing up.

The voting gap narrowed only because of the race of the Democrat nominee in 2008 and 2012.

    • FormerlyEdNY

Blacks get passing grades even if they don’t show up.

      • me

Blacks don’t go to school. That be too White an sheet….Yeah, they’re usually trying to force some tiny White boy into buying drugs, then beating him almost to death on the school bus on the ride home for reporting it…..

  • WmarkW

Turned out, that judging by the content of character, resulted in a disparate impact.

With his thin CV if BO had been a white man, no one would have given him a second look.

For new ‘viewers’ (and for some regulars, who may have forgotten), the Pew Research Center is a far left outfit. They always have been, but a lot of places pass them off as a ‘credible’ outfit (unlike, say, the $PLC).

    The are not.

The post-racial utopia will never come because its against human nature
Despite the mounting evidence from the biological sciences, the liberal belief in the miracle of education is as strong as ever. We can all get along if everyone is educated on diversity and tolerance.

  • Formerly_Known_as_Whiteplight

The Civil Rights Movement was a communist run fraud. The CPUSA was known to be behind it (FBI). MLK was afilliated with it through Morehouse College alumni and his own organization. According to my 1970 Un American Activities Report, the CPUSA infiltrated EVERY Leftist movement if it was not the actual initial organizer. The data they present as proof is compelling. It may have not been provable in 1963, but it was well understood by 1970. Marxism had made many strides forward. They are succeeded in getting all those little white girls to “sit down at the table of brotherhood” with the little black boys. They think that when everyone is just one big genetic cess pool, the ultimate world wide Socialist state will come into being and everything will be unicorns and rainbows. This is just as delusional as Christianity and the Rapture and Second Coming, only I don’t worry about things that will never happen. World Socialism will never happen either, the entire house of cards is going to crash first. Black dysfunction may be near the same, but the goals of the Marxist/Communist Left has made much progress and has matters well in hand. That is why we have to get stories of our oppression and news of violence against us through other than official and MSM sources.

    • JohnEngelman

Members of the American Communist Party contributed to left wing political movements. This has been their right under the Constitution. They never dominated them. They were rarely guilty of espionage on behalf of Communist countries.

      • Substitute the word “usually” instead of “rarely” and I’ll believe you on this score.

      • Formerly_Known_as_Whiteplight

You are so WRONG. I have a copy of the 1970 Report on Un American Activities in California that was put together by a special bi-partisan senate investigation. The CPUSA was behind every movement in the 60s either as an organizer or through gaining control eventually. Their purpose is stated as subterfuge and the overthrow of the U.S. Government. I used to doubt it, but after all these years and study and observation, I stand on that. At least, we know where you stand.

        • JohnEngelman

The very name of the “Committee on Un American Activities.” demonstrates how preposterous its anti-Communist paranoia was. Can you imagine a “Committee on Un-Canadian Activities?” What about a “Committee on Un-Mexican Activities?”

According to the United States Constitution members of the American Communist Party have the right to engage in political activism as long as they do not engage in violence or espionage.

During the War in Vietnam many new left radicals thought the American Communist Party was too moderate.

In Italy and France powerful Communist parties competed in elections, and often won. There was never any chance that either country would become a Communist dictatorship.

Since at least the War in Vietnam the American Communist Party has never been much more than a Marxian book discussion organization.

          • Formerly_Known_as_Whiteplight

There is a section in the report about how they tried to dismantle the committee itself. I had this book since 1970,. when I had the foresight to ask my sister to get one for me (she worked for a senator). I used to doubt this stuff, but time and much more experience, and reading many other corroborating histories by reliable parties proves that these guys were even trying to be generous here.

I already covered that CPUSA was a subversive group and had stated aims to overthrow the U.S. government and society. That puts them beyond the protection of the U.S. Constitution. In the 1920s and especially the Depression, they were quite violent. They had infiltrated the students protesting at Kent State in 1970 that saw students shot. I gave a speech at a high school district forensic tournament just days after, interpreting Patrick Henry’s “Liberty or Death” speech and won first place.

The CPUSA infiltrated the militant groups, but did not always change them. By the late 60s, they understood that their subterfuge would be accomplished through special interest movements using Critical Theory, and other tactics that precluded actual violence until the time came when they had full control. We are approaching that time now.

You are a real waste of time. What do you think you’re going to accomplish, make us found of Marxism/communism? Make us wish to kiss our executioner?.

          • Beloved Comrade

Brilliant posts. I too wonder why Engelman pushes Communism and Socialism on this site, of all places, where such failed views are obviously not welcome.

Turns our Senator McCarthy was right, despite being vilified, laughed at, impugned, etc. He was trying to to preserve our precious liberty, which we are rapidly losing.

“Using new information obtained from studies of old Soviet files in
Moscow and now the famous Venona Intercepts — FBI recordings of Soviet embassy communications between 1944-48 — the record is showing that McCarthy was essentially right. He had many weaknesses, but almost every case he charged has now been proven correct. Whether it was stealing atomic secrets or influencing U.S. foreign policy, communist victories
in the 1940s were fed by an incredibly vast spy and influence network.

McCarthy questioned how, in six short years after America’s winning of World War II, the communist world was triumphant and had expanded to include 800 million people.

          • Formerly_Known_as_Whiteplight

Thanks. McCarthy’s problems were twofold;one was that he was an alcoholic and the other was his political style. It was nasty and vindictive and he went after people he was personally jealous of, like Hollywood types and small bananas – as far as the real communists went. However, he finally dug up, or got faced by Emanuel Cellar, who WAS a member of the Neo-Marxist Frankfurt School. It was he that penned the 1965 Immigration and Naturalization Act for Ted Kennedy to push in Congress. If McCarthy had gone after the real players and done it in a more professional manner, we might be facing a far less dangerous situation today. I don’t let conservatives off; they mismanaged hugely when they had the power and played right into the communists hands..

          • Batista was a PoS, but so were the Castro brothers.

          • JohnEngelman

The most important liberty to me is intellectual liberty. Sen. McCarthy suppressed that. Because of the McCarthy Era many Americans were punished for left wing sympathies.

If Communist Party members and Communist sympathizers had been active in making government policy the United States would not have overthrown the democratic government in Iran in 1953, and the United States would not have become involved in Vietnam.

All of our misfortunes with Iran began with the CIA coup in 1953.

The Geneva Agreement of 1954 scheduled elections to be held in July 1956 to unify Vietnam, and forbade the entry of foreign troops to Vietnam. The United States refused to sign and honor that Agreement. In his memoirs President Eisenhower said that his advisers told him Ho Chi Minh would have won as much as 80 percent of a fair election in Vietnam.

Communists in the U.S. government could have prevented the War in Vietnam, and the Iranian Revolution in 1979.

          • Formerly_Known_as_Whiteplight

Your ideas are distorted and incorrect historically with the exception that conservative and general government misrule in the period created openings for the communists. I am well aware of the dark doings of the CIA. This does not legitimize the aims of the CPUSA or communism in general. This to say a worse wrong is right. While we were going through these changes, Stalin was again purging the population and Mao’s Cultural Revolution was going on in China and millions were being killed and imprisoned. At home, The Weathermen issued a manifesto stating that after the communist takeover, at least 25 million Americans would have to be killed as political enemies.

Communists were in the U.S. government and they wanted there to be a war in Vietnam because they wanted the chaos on the home front that ensued. But the war would have gone forward anyway. By 1960 the Military/Industrial/Congressional Complex was developed to the point that the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon wanted the war as did LBJ’s almost solely created Industrial giant in Texas, General Dynamics. Many of LBJs staffers had been at members of one organization or another that had been a sub-group of the CPUSA. LBJ wanted above all, to be a war time president. The Chiefs of Staff wanted a war, Congress understood the economic boom that a war would generate, as they understood the WW2 industrial boom that propelled the U.S. economy for years after the war and kept Americans occupied. They were all willing for at least 58,000 of their young boys to die for this and were heedless of any eventual political fallout. JFK, for all his faults, had come to the conclusion that invading Cuba was a bad idea and had been warned by people like MacArthur and Charles de Gaulle that a war in Vietnam would be a tragedy for America. JFK was determined to draw down advisors presence in Vietnam and eventually exit after the 1964 election.

A number of books on this issue tell this now well documented history, but I recommend “LBJ, the Mastermind of the Kennedy Assassination,” and “Acid Dreams, the Complete Social History of LSD, the CIA, the Sixties and Beyond.”

I am foremost for the right to a conscious and free thought, which is why I am against religion. But asserting that does not make anything one may decide to believe without applying a healthy dose of objectivity and fact first and the humility to admit to yourself that you are wrong, occasionally. You seem to be operating from the premise that since the misrule of the government and corruption was somewhat “suppressive” that the other side must be the answer. This is not and could not be the result of a full knowledge of concurrent events and critical thought.

          • JohnEngelman

Communists were in the U.S. government and they wanted there to be a war in Vietnam because they wanted the chaos on the home front that ensued.

            – Formerly_Known_as_Whiteplight

This is the first time I ever read that Communists in the government wanted there to be a War in Vietnam. I think you need to check your sources.

          • Communism is not a legitimate American activity. One friend I’d die for without any hesitation at all has a bumper sticker that says “I Kill Communists”. He did, too.

          • JohnEngelman

Political dissent is a legitimate American activity.

          • Yes, but Communism requires a dictatorship before it can be imposed. Democracy is ugly, and produces people like President Orangutan and Shrillary Clinton, but it sure beats anything else people have tried. Would you trust me as Dictator of the North American Empire? Of course not. That would be crazy.

          • JohnEngelman

Are you telling me that you favor the violent overthrow of the U.S. government in order to establish a dictatorship? Yes, or no. Do you?

          • JohnEngelman

There never was the remotest chance that the American Communist Party would achieve what the Bolsheviks did in Russia. There never was the remotest chance that it would overthrow the U.S. government and establish a Communist dictatorship.

Those who were afraid that the CPUSA would achieve that should have feared a more plausible danger, such as the Bogey Man.

The more intelligent anti Communists knew this, of course. They used anti-Communist paranoia in order to discredit the Democratic Party, the Federal Government, the labor movement, the civil rights movement, and the anti-war movement.

  • John Ulfsson

Like I said before, might as well spend billions of dollars of resources and time into pursuing this unachievable, unrealistic goal because we can’t be adults and face reality.

    • sbuffalonative

Liberals live in denial of reality. They hate it. It offends their delicate sensibilities. Hence their compelling obsession to make reality conform to their belief system no matter how unhappy it makes people.

Blacks are much more downbeat than whites about the pace of progress toward a color-blind society.

AR recently reported a survey that showed minorities were ‘happier’ (or more optimistic) than whites.

I don’t know what to make of these studies other than they support my belief you can produce a survey to prove any conclusion you want.

I do know that most people like to be with their own. Forcing people to live and work together is what seems to make them unhappy.

Lower IQ people are happy if all their needs are fulfilled.

      • With the bills paid and the three of us healthy, we’re certainly content. The extras – things that would be nice to have but aren’t necessary should be realistically attainable. It’s often the little things that matter.

I think you should have said that lower IQ people are happy if someone else fulfills all their needs for them. This would seem a monumentally unsatisfying existence to me, but perhaps that’s why so many of them use hard drugs.

        • Puggg

I should have barked, “lower IQ people are happy if most or all of their needs or desires are fulfilled, either by themselves or by others, mostly by others.”

Don’t forget the Commie part, now. Even history books don’t mention nowadays that he was primarily backed by reds while black nationalist movements were ignored in favor of King’s desegregation / miscegenation angle.

The Communists are smarter than we give them credit for, they know exactly how to destabilize and subvert white nations so they’re weakened and vulnerable to Marxism.

I am going to comment on this article, despite the fact that I did not read it. Frankly, I don’t need to read it. I already know what it says. In fact, I already know ahead of time what any study, poll, or what have you is going to say. Whites bad. Coloreds good: but misunderstood, victims of prejudice and discrimination, therefore, any wrongdoing by coloreds is the fault of Whites. My friends, this mantra has existed for decades. What is really frightening, is the fact that due to intelligence, cultural and behavioral differences on the part of the coloreds, that render these populations incompatible with White Western standards of civilization, these facts will never be considered by our masters. No, their inability to adhere to the precepts of our civil society, will be blamed on US. We Whites can never win. Never. We have allowed ourselves to be set up as the fall guys for the ineptness, and barbaric behavior of others. Wow. Just wow. I have never in my life been allowed to blame my failures on anybody but myself. (As it should be), but we now are faced with the so called incontrovertible truth(according to the marxists who run the WORLD), that we Whites are responsible for every evil that has ever or will befall mankind. We Whites are responsible for the failures of the rest of the world to progress into civilized beings, and, furthermore, once the lesser beings are introduced into our White societies, and do nothing but rape, kill, rob us, even though we have lavished our hard earned money on them, it is still our fault. The problems of the world, will always be OUR FAULT! Maybe it is time to actually start causing some “problems”, that can legitimately be ascribed to us, and for which we can be righteously proud.

    • Spartacus

Agreed. Also, paragraphs – they’re awesome, really .

if martin luther king were alive today, he would probably be another al sharpton and jessie jackson. he would not give up that free money like the rest of the racist blacks. the FBI has its files sealed on the communist until 2029. WHY? his Plagiarism was well known along with his infatuation for white women. he was known to chase white women down the halls of hotels with only his birhday suit on. he was an invention of the marxist community.

    • IstvanIN

he was diplomatic because whites hadn’t given up yet. Had he been violent there is a good chance that the civil rights movement may have failed.

      • JohnEngelman

Of course. The black ghetto riots that happened outside of the South from 1964 to 1968 belatedly convinced Northern and Western whites that Southern whites had a point after all. Those riots came too late to prevent the civil rights legislation from being signed, but they turned the United States into a Republican country.

    • bigone4u

Morris Dees of SPLC fame allegedly wrote the famous “Letter from a Birmingham Jail.” MLK = More Lies from a Kommie.

    • JohnEngelman

More than anyone else Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. made the 1960’s what they were. It would have been a different decade without him. His connections with the American Communist Party were nothing more than personal friendships. There is no evidence that he took orders from the CPUSA or passed classified information to the Soviet Union. It was not the civil rights movement, but segregationist violence against it that aided the composers of Communist propaganda internationally.

Dr. King’s womanizing was unacceptable in a Christian clergyman and terribly irresponsible. Had it been publicly exposed the exposure would have crippled the civil rights movement.

His academic plagiarism is difficult to understand from one who wrote essays like “Letter From a Birmingham Jail,” and who composed speeches like “I Have a Dream.”

Dr. King had no political power. Nevertheless, he was a leader of genius. His genius lay in his ability to bring out the worst in his enemies. Those who regret his legacy should acknowledge that segregationists did a bad job of getting their message out to the rest of the United States. It was difficult to convince whites with little knowledge of blacks that blacks were inherently dangerous when segregationist mobs, some of them wearing police uniforms, harassed, beat, and sometimes killed peaceful civil rights activists.

      • cablegirls

The “I Have a Dream” speech — plagiarized.

Stolen by King from a sermon by Archibald Carey.

        • JohnEngelman

Many writers are influenced by previous writing. Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream Speech” borrowed allusions from Isaiah 40:4-5, and Amos 5:24 from the Old Testament. Are we to say that he plagiarized Isaiah and Amos?

          • Mergatroyd

Influenced and outright plagiarism are not the same thing and it is disingenuous to claim that they are.

Why are you an apologist for King and his plagiarizing? There is NO question that King’s work, like Alex Haley’s Roots, was plagiarized and if he were white, it would be known across the civilized world.

          • JohnEngelman

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream Speech” is widely considered to be one of the greatest speeches ever given in the English language, if any language. I agree with that consensus. Rev. King composed it himself, drawing inspiration from many sources, including the Old Testament, Shakespeare, and the Gettysburg Address.

The “I have a dream” lines, were extemporaneous.

        • He also plagiarized his Doctoral dissertation, which is why almost nobody refers to him as “Dr.” King anymore.

      • me

Engelman, you are such a putz!

        • JohnEngelman

If that is the best you can do I do not need to worry about your next effort to refute me.

      • AutomaticSlim

        1) He was hardly a “genius”. He merely relied upon the very misguided sense of white guilt prevalent among liberals.

        2) If women were not given the vote, the abomination known as civil rights would have never even come up before congress.

        • Nick Jihad

nor the federal income tax, nor Prohibition as well. All those guys who warned that disaster would ensue, if the suffragettes were given the vote, were right.

      • Frans

King was no genius. I agree that segregationists could have handled things better, and not created such drama that ultimately made them look like idiots. Blacks could have been given some concessions concerning Jim Crow laws without the government shoving them (blacks) down our (whites’) throats. It was most assuredly handled incorrectly by the governments, and the rest of us have suffered ever since by having to “live” with these feral thangs.

        • How could the “segregationists have handled things better?” What “concessions” do you think that blacks could have been given that they already weren’t given?

          • Frans

I was referring to your comment: “harassed, beat, killed peaceful activists”. The governments could have not done that and instead negotiated concessions such as being allowed to sit where they chose on a city bus and access to water fountains & bathrooms, for example. Instead the government initiated political correctness and affirmative action that productive citizens are forced to pay for.

      • Mergatroyd

King was no leader and certainly he was no genius. The media have built him up into a God over the years and presented him as a moral, upstanding Christian father and family man, an icon who must not be questioned. King’s records, like Obama’s school records, are sealed and probably will never be opened.

“His connections with the American Communist Party were nothing more than personal friendships.”

This is where you are 100% wrong and a correction is in order. King was definitely a Communist, as the evidence proves. King was merely one more in a long line of useful idiots for the Communist cause. One doesn’t have to be a spy to work for Communists.

King’s main handler was Communist Stanley Levinson who prepared King’s income tax returns, controlled King’s fundraising activities, and was also in charge of funneling Soviet money to the Communist Party, USA. Levinson edited and most likely wrote most of King’s speeches, including the “I have a Dream Speech.” King was a plagiarist, which is not in dispute, so there is no “genius” to be found in his writing.

John and Robert Kennedy warned King to distance himself from Levinson because of Levinson’s Communist record but King refused. King privately declared himself to be a Marxist and told his inner circle that he was part of a “class struggle.”

His personal secretary, Bayard Rusting, was a Communist, later replaced with another Communist Jack O’Dell.

As for the destructive 60s, look to LBJ and the programs he passed under his watch including the “War on Poverty” and “Great Society” designed to eliminate poverty and “racial injustice,” and, which replaced black fathers with welfare and the government. There is also medicare and medicaid but that is for another comment. All have been massive failures costing billions of dollars that could have been better spent.

We are living with the results of the destructive policies of LBJ to this day, such as high rates of black illegitimacy. Compared to LBJ, who had REAL power, King is just a footnote, was a Communist pawn, and a degenerate one at that.

        • AutomaticSlim

          Great comments.
          Once small correction, though.
The LBJ programs have cost (and wasted) trillions, not billions.
But other than that one small point, right on target.
LBJ is the worst and most destructive POTUS in history.
The current embarrassment in the White House, IMO, is #2 (in more ways than one).

          • Mergatroyd

Of course, trillions. Thanks for the correction.
Obama is certainly a contender for #2, but we’ve got FDR and Wilson so I’d say it’s a three-way tie for worst between those three.

          • JohnEngelman

One of Johnson’s programs was Medicare. That is joined Social
Security as what Republican politicians fearfully refer to as “the third rail.” They know that if they touch it they will get a terrible shock.

        • Frans

You are so right. We have LBJ’s administration and its ill-conceived programs to blame for the decline of civilization that we’re experiencing. Rather than face facts about the destruction the policies have wrought, self-serving politicians not only continue them but also add more destructive, taxpayer-abusive policies that support the parasites. The parasites are devouring the host but no one seems to care.

  • WhitePiney

Just 1 quick comment; unemployment is higher in blacks than whites… Proof positive that blacks are lazy anddon’t want to work, not because they are turned down because of race because it is mandatory that blacks are given equal opportunity for being hired.

    • watling

In a capitalist society businesses wants the best people for the job. They don’t care about skin colour. They just want the work done well so that the company makes money. If blacks were as employable as whites they would have the same unemployment rates. A genius black programmer would be snapped up by any sensible software company, in the same way that a genius white programmer would.

Why are blacks over-represented in football and basketball teams? Because they make better athletes – at those particular sports anyway – and any coach wants the best players. Coaches don’t care about skin colour either.

Why do chess teams have few, if any, blacks? Because the person picking the team wants the best players and they’re usually white or Asian.

      • pcmustgo

I’m not sure it’s blacks being less hardworking that makes them less employable- it’s the angry/hostile attitude and phony racial discrimination lawsuits that do that.

  • Jenkem Huffington

It’s going to take about 100,000 years of evolution by blacks coupled with stagnation of whites’ evolution to make us “equal”.
All the wishing in the world isn’t going to turn a wolf into an Irish setter in 50 years.

  • White Mom in WDC

I look at this report and I say, who cares? I don’t care about what blacks think and I don’t care what money they have it don’t have. The only thing I care about is that we whites don’t have to be near them anymore.

  • MBlanc46

One reason race relations have become worse (if they have) since 2008 is that black crime has been much more brazen and much more directed at whites. Another is that it has become clear (if it weren’t already) that the “achievement gap” in education is not going to close, no matter how many billions we throw at it. More and more people are coming to understand that blacks just don’t have the psychological equipment to match whites (and Asians) academically. There are real biological differences between blacks and whites and they’re not going away. The integrationist narrative is holed below the waterline and the listing of the ship is making everyone nervous.

  • BlarneyMiller

These survey percentages are pretty telling.  A slightly higher percentage of blacks have a more favorable opinion of black relations with Hispanics than black relations with whites.  This seems nonsensical considering that whites funnel beaucoup bucks to blacks and basically wipe their butts for them.

It is interesting to note that a considerably lower percentage of Hispanics view their relationship with blacks as positive than whites do.  This shows two things.  First, it shows that whites have bought into the racial kumbaya message more than other people.  Second, it shows that there is truth to the idea that those who are in most contact with black people are most opposed to them.  Since Hispanics typically occupy urban spaces next to blacks they apparently have developed a greater distaste for blacks than rural and suburban whites who have far less contact with blacks.

  • ncpride

I absolutely disagree. King’s ‘dream’ has far exceeded anything he could have imagined. Whites roll over at any demand his ‘people’ make, we have been trained to tip-toe around their delicate feelings, we have been taught for decades White guilt, we have allowed ourselves to be ‘shaken down’ until we’re broke, and most are TERRIFIED of being called a racist. Yep, if there is a hell, he’s looking up grinning from ear to ear.

  • WR_the_realist

This article conflates two distinct concepts:

    1. Treating all races fairly.
    2. Achieving racial equality.

Those two goals are not only distinct, they are contradictory. Treat all races fairly and the natural and inherent inequalities among races will make themselves manifest. Second generation Chinese will start successful electronics companies, tenth generation blacks will still fill our prisons. OTOH, make racial equality the goal and you will have to impose massive unfairness based on race, with racial set asides. different criteria for admissions to universities and for hiring based on race, and a vast state apparatus to handle racial grievances. In other words, pretty much what we have now.

    • FourFooted_Messiah

I would not mind the Chinese so much if I didn’t think they were after Vancouver and environs for colonization. Why are whites in Richmond feeling compelled to learn Mandarin?

      • cancerous bananna

Like that Chinese woman going after Mcdonalds for racism.. one of the commentors said “this is Richmond!” As if they owned the place.. perhaps they do.

        • I’m delighted someone would sue McDonalds, but it should be for their insultingly groidish advertising and the toxic orc-swill they purvey as “food”.

        • Mergatroyd

They can have Richmond and I wish they’d take it. They’d have to move out all the blacks and cholos first, though, which is not a bad thing. How about sending them to China?

      • Harry

Whatever you may think of the Chinese, consider this. In Philadelphia it is lot safer for safer for white people to walk around it’s Chinatown, than in North Philly.

In New York City, it is lot safer for white people to walk around it’s Chinatown, than in Harlem.

When traveling abroad, consider that Asian cities such as Tokyo, Beijing, and Shanghai, Hon Kong, are a lot safer than Johannesburg, Capetown, or Nairobi.

        • FourFooted_Messiah

Doesn’t matter. I still don’t like that they have my country’s west coast slated for East Asian colonization/integration.

I would fight against any Asian that wants to claim lordship over me.

      • JohnEngelman

They want to learn Mandarin so that they can talk to their immediate supervisors.

        • In Mandarin I can only say “Hello” – Ni hao – and “Thank you” – sheu shia. My daughter corrects me all the time in Japanese, but I speak it quite well, though I’m quite illiterate in it.

  • libertarian1234

“Blacks are much more downbeat than whites about the pace of progress toward a color-blind society.”
Which is likely due to the fact that they know full-well they can never feel comfortable with non-whites because all other groups are unlike them in so many ways they can find no common ground.
And other groups can’t stand to be around them, because most of them are loud, rude, have no real sense of humor beyond a primitive level, and they fight with nearly everybody.
Wasn’t it Jamie Foxx who said he feels good when he gets back among blacks after being around whites all day pretending he’s like them?
Anybody who thinks forcing people to live, work and play together is going to create a color-blind society isn’t playing with a full deck.

    • FourFooted_Messiah

Well, wasn’t Jaimie Foxx the one who said it was great to shoot whites in a movie?

Ugh, I hear the name Jaimie, and I think of the Highlander from early Doctor Who. Jaimie was an upstanding sort. Don’t trash the name!

“The survey also finds that large majorities of blacks (73%) and whites (81%) say the two races generally get along either “very well” or “pretty well.”
What exactly does it mean to ‘get along’? This can have various meanings among people with converging interactions. Does getting along mean avoiding a potential altercation? Does it mean that we get along without any personal squabbles as long as we keep our distance at arm’s length?
Those who say we get along with Blacks probably have minimal to zero communication with Blacks. And if they do, they are putting their tolerance to the test and are far more uncomfortable than they prefer with an environment devoid of Blacks.

    • ShermanTMcCoy

Five decades after Martin Luther King’s historic “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington, D.C., a new survey by the Pew Research Center finds that fewer than half (45%) of all Americans say the country has made substantial progress toward racial equality and about the same share (49%) say that “a lot more” remains to be done.

    – Pew Research, August 22, 2013

A lot more needs to be done by blacks. Whites are not responsible for high rates of black crime and illegitimacy.

    • Frans

The problem with that Pew comment is that equality of races will never, ever happen. Blacks are not capable of being equal with whites or Asians. Trying to achieve racial equality is a pipe dream of some ignorant fool politician. However, on another point, King’s I have a dream speech has come true: we are now judging blacks by the content of their character and it always comes up lacking. Whites have done everything humanly possible to give negroes EVERY opportunity to achieve and succeed. Trillions of dollars have been thrown at the problem to no avail. Productive citizens have made major sacrifices to try to make up for slavery, Jim crow, and on and on and on. There’s nothing left for whites to do and blacks aren’t intelligent enough to make changes. I’m sick of hearing such comments as the Pew Research Center makes about this. What are they talking about by saying “a lot more remains to be done?” What is there left to do?!? The parasites are devouring the host and civilization is going down the tubes as a result!

  • JohnEngelman

High school completion rates have converged since the 1960s, and now about nine-in-ten blacks and whites have a high school diploma.

    – Pew Research, August 22, 2013

This does not represent an increase in learning and achievement. Standards have been relaxed.

    • William Krapek

I’m actually stunned when I talk to recent graduates. They know a lot less than I did when I was their age. That’s a fact. And there’s a depressing lack of simple curiosity. And if hear one more of those little darlings protest that such-and-such a thing happened “before I was born!” I swear I’ll smack them silly.

I was born in 1965. I knew who Marilyn Monroe and Fred Astaire and Mae Wes were.

(Goodness has nothing to do with what I feel when I think of this.)

      • JohnEngelman

There are still plenty of intelligent, well educated high school graduates. The problem is that a high school degree no longer means what it used to.

That is why high stakes examinations are necessary. In order to graduate from high school anywhere in the United States one should be required to pass an examination that is the same throughout the United States.

The test should of course be in English. Poverty, poorly funded schools, or recent immigration to the United States should not be excuses for failing. There should be no affirmative action for the test. Those who get a certain score should get high school degrees. The rest should not.

        • Of course, but the inevitable chorus about “disparate impact” and our favorite national bete noir, “institutional racism” would begin.

Doing this might also cause our resident incompetoids to use drugs, have kids out of wedlock and commit “random” beat-downs, gang rapes and shootings. Wouldn’t that be terrible?

        • Frans

That would be great, but it will never happen. It wouldn’t be politically correct and PC runs the country.

        • MikeofAges

No, high stakes exams are not necessary. It is up to employers to judge the qualifications of their prospective employees. Someone can graduate with all remedial courses or they can take 100 percents honors and college prep, and they both get the same diploma. It is by intention a big tent. In a society where people gave been brainwashed into believing that someone who has failed to earn this credential should be subjected to lifelong torments, if someone gets 32 semester credits, give them their diploma. I have only a few big “no’s” I believe in. No 18-game season. No suspending of drivers licenses for reasons not related to the operation of a motor vehicle, and no high school exit exams. Are you really going to let someone attend for four years, pass all their classes and then not get a diploma?

      • IstvanIN

They don’t diagram sentences, they use calculators for arithmetic, they don’t learn cursive, they spend a ton of time on “feel good” self-esteem baloney, they watch a lot of videos/movies/TV presentations, they spend too much in computer classes. The only thing half of them know how to do is search Google.

    • JK474

Yes. As the late, great, Joe Sobran once said (I’m paraphrasing, I don’t have the exact quote), “In 100 years America has gone from teaching Latin in high school to teaching remedial English in college.”.

    • “Relaxed”? That’s like saying a rotting corpse is “relaxing”!

    • Frans

I don’t think standards even matter. A lot of students are passed even though they haven’t mastered even the relaxed standards. Affirmative action teachers can’t teach because they don’t know their subject, and they pass students who haven’t learned anything. And white teachers are forced to pass students who know nothing. This is true throughout the grades and it applies to college as well. For many affirmative action students, the degree isn’t worth the paper on which it’s printed!

    • Andy

And replaced by “attitudes and values”. I’m taking a look at my new education textbook.

“The second subgoal of social studies learning – attitudes and values – is directed less at rational knowledge and more at the realm of emotion, feeling, and beliefs about what is right and wrong.”

  • plaintruthforidiots

So why don’t the hard done by blacks want to SEPARATE from the ‘evil’, ‘racist’ whites? Surely that is the solution? What do they expect when they are FORCING themselves into white people’s lives wherever possible?

    • Frans

Good point! And it makes sense, but the perpetually aggrieved, perpetually whining nogs will never do anything that’s rational or makes any sense. Even the marginally intelligent ones such as the ones that run Detroit, for example, (presumably, they have some modicum of intelligence??) don’t have enough intelligence to think rationally. If they did they wouldn’t fail at everything.

      • melissa236

So this report then is concerned only with the welfare of blacks. Where is the report showing the staggering increase in black-on-white crime since the “I have a dream” speech? What percentage of blacks show any concern for lower-income whites? Have they ever marched for a single white cause?

    • Frans

All such reports and “research” as this concerns only blacks. Doesn’t matter that whites have made enormous sacrifices for 50 years and trillions of taxpayer dollars have been thrown at these parasites, all to no avail.

  • Shush. Since even under old RSA Apartheid law, Japanese, Taiwanese and South Koreans were considered honorary whites, they clearly don’t count, most especially not to left-wing pollsters.

The first Japanese in the United States came to Hawaii to work on the pineapple plantations. The first Chinese came to California to lay railroad track. Humble beginnings here, like almost everyone else. Their success here not only isn’t explained by the “racist” conspiracy-kook narrative, it doesn’t even fit into that theory. Some of the illegal, ugly, squat Mexicans who come here speak Nahuatl and not Spanish, and they’re more successful than urban negros. This surely isn’t because bad old WT is keeping down the colored folk who can’t speak English.

  • I get chatted up a lot walking Maverick, who is a red fox. Back when I was single, I sure wasted a lot of time without him!

I wish we could get him a mate, so they could make more.

  • Please note that Malcolm X was gunned down by other blacks who appeared to have disagreed with him.

  • The MLK story is all over the news. Top of google news.

Is the story that popular today?

No, but the elite want to push the story of MLK and multiculturalism on us. But why?

Google image search for MLK memorial statue.

Note the belligerent, aggressive warrior air of the MLK memorial statue.

The belligerent-looking statue of MLK represents the warrior attitude
that Capital wants nonwhites to adopt so that nonwhites can fight their
    way into the workplace

Part of the unwritten rule book of multiculturalism is that the
Establishment must encourage blacks and other minorities to be
aggressive and pushy in their defense of their rights. The Establishment
encourages blacks and other minorities to be pushy, belligerent, and
dominant in their relationship with whites.

This belligerent MLK statute alludes to this aggressive war of Capital
against Labor, wherein blacks and other nonwhites are the foot soldier
of Capital, helping Capital increase the supply of labor and divide the
populace, thus weakening unity of the electorate.

This is war, Capital against Labor. Capital wants nonwhite soldiers to
fight their way into the workplace and into the neighborhoods of the
    majority bloc whites.

And likewise white men are subtextually/surreptitiously told that they
are to adopt a subordinate posture to blacks. This is one major way that
nonwhites can gain access to the workplace and to be integrated fully
into society. That way the supply of labor is increased and the unity of
the populace is decreased. That way the rich get richer.

    Always follow the money!

My small city paper, in a town that is about 2% black, had a four-page spread, including the entire front page. I read none of it, but was royally P’ed off. If it weren’t for news about local issues/politics, etc. I would cancel on the spot.

  • Randall Ward

MLK never did anything except make whites hate him. Thank LBJ for the laws that really put the national government in charge of the black person; and the national government has been failing ever since. The progress made by blacks has been made by hard work and good behavior by blacks; the decline by blacks has been made by lazy bumbs that won’t work or learn and are criminals – just that simple.

    • Correction: The progress made by blacks has been made by hard work and good behavior by whites.

      Fixed it.

You mentioned LBJ’s “Great Society” gibs me dat programs and black progress in the same paragraph, but failed to connect the dots. The relationship between blacks and the rest of America is parasitical, thanks the “Great Society”. It requires a truly cretinous form of dysfunctionality to be an unsuccessful parasite.

      • Randall Ward

There are plenty of hard working blacks, friend. I used a concrete crew made up entirely of black men. They worked there ass off every day and never complained. Try working concrete in the Texas summer for $18 per hour, year after year, for twenty years- Michael Christopher Scott. They do it every day.

        • I will always do anything that is legal. You try making sandwiches 102 hours a week for $6.25 an hour.

          • Randall Ward

Not me, blacks. I believe a few blacks make sandwiches. I had you figured for a city slicker.

          • I *AM* a city slicker, but I know how to work. My favorite jobs summers home from college were delivering office furniture for a company that made it at Drever Business Systems and building laboratory equipment for grad students and post docs at CU Boulder. I am a very good machinist.

I did all the laboratory wet work for a microelectronics research company in the mid 1990s. I was a good soldier back in 1991 until I got my paint scratched and knocked down. Today I’m a stay-at-home father, and I do that job as well as I did everything else.

One friend who was getting divorced and staying here said “When you need something, you don’t buy it; you just go to the basement and make one.” My mother’s dad was an electrician for Bell Telephone and my ex-father’s dad dropped out of school at 13 in Kentucky to work at a coal mine, joined the army at 15 (1925-1931), and later worked at a steel mill.

There’s a famous picture of me with a G-43 and a satchel of Hungarian stick grenades on each hip. I got my paint scratched three times, but had medical attention (eventually) only for the last one, which broke my right arm. The others were across my face and in my left knee.

Us city slickers aren’t all lazy and bad.

He didn’t say anything about whether some work their butts off or not. His point was the Great Society created parasites. I too have seen blacks on the assembly line and other places work as hard as anyone. I think he it right in general about the effect of such a recipe on all people and it is as bound to fail as it did in Russia and China.

” That they would be judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Says MLK3 at the DC rally.

Oh son of MLK ( let the money machine keep rolling on his memory…the pay is great, the message is crap )..we are judging you on your “character”. We see the thugs, the illiteracy, the illegitimacy and the savagery of the murderers among you. We see the Trayvon Martins, the LeGenius Wisdom Williams at 13 years old who murder, maim and begin their careers in crime. We see senior citizens beaten to death with flashlights and an innocent young jogger shot in the back and murdered out of…”boredom”. We see your so called “reverends” become racist stooges, liars and instigators of racial hate.

So…you keep on dreaming. But we have to face reality in the world you’ve created. And we have learned, believe me.

We’ve learned of the 3% of you who are the “characters” and who are responsible for 70% of the crime in this country. My oh my…look at what that dream has wrought MLK junior. 50 years and trillions of dollars down the drain ( and millions more in your pocket ) only to witness the total failures of that mans “dreams”. Pity him not…at least he doesn’t have to see the utter failures of what he tried to achieve. In time you’ll see that Obama has contributed to that destruction on his own….and reversed any forward movement you strived for. All by himself too.

I realize the list of POS blacks seems endless but I just found out about De’Marquise Elkins, who shot a 13 month old baby in the face because his mom didn’t have money for him to steal. Happened 8 months ago but of course the media never gives it much coverage.

      • Beloved Comrade

He killed that precious baby because he hates whites and wanted to kill them.

In many states, sports scholarships for high schools are not allowed. I suppose Florida is not one of them.

The “high school” which he will attend:

This “Victory Rock Prep” basically looks like one of these Oak Hill Academy type institutions, which area nothing more than sports factories dressed in the veneer of education. Be of good cheer, though; while Oak Hill Academy is in Virginia, it is a very safe distance from the AR Moderation Academy, also in Virginia.

    • The video in that Australian news story shows the Sudanese and his black friends playing basketball at outdoor courts near high rise housing projects in Melbourne. It looks almost spot on like some parts of Brooklyn or The Bronx or Harlem. I imagine by now Melbourne already has at least one solid wide spread ghetto.

Just to clarify: I’m British. We had a similar case here. Mo (Mohammed) Farah came to the UK as a refugee from Somalia and is now “our” top athlete. It makes me a little sick when he gets loads of media attention, with pundits fawning over his achievements. To me he’s Somalian. The fact that blacks tend to be better track athletes doesn’t mean we should import them and call them British.

There have been others like him (e.g. Christina Ohuruogu from Nigeria) because our mass immigration policy has meant that Africans can escape their cesspit of a continent for civilisation in a white country.

The point I was making in my above comment was that the higher rate of black unemployment in the US isn’t down to their skin colour but because they are simply less employable.

  • Mergatroyd

The one-sided media only showed the violence from the police side, never the other side. The marchers and paid protesters were anything but peaceful but the media covered it up, as they always do.

  • ravitchn

Regardless of what they may say that is politically correct most whites do not wish to associate with blacks, whose culture and values are alien for the most part.

  • ravitchn

My southern cousin-in-law has the right idea: living amidst all to many blacks she says they are to her invisible,. She pretends to the extent possible that they are not there. So do I; at least I try to.

    • Frans

I’d like to do that, too. Ignore them. But they’re also passive aggressive. Some of them will intentionally get in your way and you’re forced to move out of their way or run into them. The women are more like that than the men, in my experience.

  • BlarneyMiller

While it’s nice to see so many comments in mainstream media sections calling out Obama and Holder’s actions at the recent March on Washington as race-baiting and lying; it’s sad to see how many of these same comments say that this generations civil rights leaders are staring from MLK’s dream and MLK would be sickened. They bought into the myth and don’t realize that MLK would be gladly joining them and screaming about “Justice for Trayvon!” and “We must continue to fight!” if he were still alive today.

Exactly right, King has been made into a god, when he was no different from Rev. Wright.

A guy who was in a relatively foul mouthed film like “Earthquake” is no one to look up to.

    Kings “Dream”….Our Nightmare.

  • Not large numbers.

  • Randall Ward

King had the wrong dream; he wanted equality of outcomes, when equal opportunity is the best the real world can offer.

  • MikeofAges

If Martin Luther King’s “dream” was achieved one fine Sunday afternoon, a lot of people would have to go to work Monday morning — mostly in a lot of not very interesting jobs. Since King’s day, the black poverty rate has dropped from 42 percent to 28 percent. That means a lot of people working in administration and middle management and in the government. The ones left over largely are people with low educational levels and low skills. They are the people who couldn’t even pass an eight grade equivalency test let alone a high school one. Always exceptions, but I don’t think any huge number of them.

So that’s the “dream” today. A few million jobs for low skill, low educational level people. A worthy goal, maybe. But not one that matches the vision behind it.

  • Beloved Comrade

King’s dream has been realized in such cities as Detroit, Gary, IN, Trenton, NJ, etc.

I suggest you depart for one of those cities immediately to live out the dream of your idol, Martin Luther King.

    • JohnEngelman

King’s dream did not come true. Dreams rarely do. But it was fun to believe in. Dreams often are.

  • BarnyL

“Blacks are much more downbeat than whites about the pace of progress toward a color-blind society.”

Blacks aren’t and never will be “color-blind “.

  • BarnyL

Those that spend more time working will do better than those who spend their time whining and bitching.

  • Andy

Does any pro-white/white nationalist/race realist group, anywhere, celebrate white people gunning down random black men, women, and children? And yet our movement is by far the more vilified.

They have all sorts of nutty ideas (they think Hannibal was black), but they are smarter than the mainstream black leadership, as they have managed to figure out that gay marriage and abortion are not going to help their people.

It’s a pity they’re genocidal and supremacist. (I don’t use that term lightly; they think that blacks are the rightful rulers of the planets.) Otherwise we could work together quite well for peaceful separation.

  • Tacitus1

The media’s coverage of King is yet another example of how the media is full of fluffy nonsense. I’ve attempted to understand the real man and not the artificial construct that most in the media have created. First the “colorblind ” thing. Reading Kings words I don’t think that he was colorblind since his writings mention race on every page it seems. The “dream” ( greatest ambition ) was not a color-blind society, but redistribution of the wealth.
While a minister, he had his doubts about the divinity of Christ . Still he is honored as a saint.
King’s anti-war stance was very radical & highly controversial. “from Vietnam to Latin America “,…. USA “on the wrong side of a world revolution.”. The mainstream media actually turned on MLK in his own time only to pretend today to have loved him… “demagogic slander that sounded like a script for Radio Hanoi,” = Life Magazine on Beyond Vietnam …. “diminished his usefulness to his cause, his country, his people.” = Washington Post

  • JohnEngelman

Here I am. What is there to say? I agree with you.

  • IKantunderstand

I don’t give a flying rip what Blacks say. I have personally sacrificed life and limb for Blacks. I have tutored illiterate Blacks, I have mentored Blacks, I have helped Blacks on the job, and I have lost jobs to Blacks who were later fired because they weren’t able to do the job. I lived in an all Black neighborhood, after my fellow Whites had fled. I did so, because, I believed down to my soul, that you should judge people by their character, and nothing else. Here is what I found to be the truth:1). The majority of Blacks you meet are not that bright.2). The majority of Blacks you meet, try to impress you with how smart they are, but, unfortunately, use words incorrectly, or flat out mispronounce them.3).Blacks talk about how much work they do, when, in fact, they do the least amount possible.4). If you make the mistake of becoming close to a Black, they are ALWAYS on the lookout that you may say something “racist”, and, let me tell you, that list of words and phrases a White must never say is exhaustive; walking on eggshells represents a vacation when compared to the machinations one must go through, trying to maintain a close friendship with a Black. While I don’t think it is impossible for Whites and Blacks to be friends in a theoretical sense, I think it is impossible for Blacks and Whites to be friends in a realistic sense. Not going to happen. Too much water, etc. Forcing integration of neighborhoods, is never, ever, going to work! It makes you think, that, maybe, just maybe, our government wants us to engage in civil strife.

  • Formerly_Known_as_Whiteplight

Upon Obama’s election, it was easy to predict that black violence against whites would increase. Although I made that prediction here and in many other places, notably the CNN posting boards, the MSM continues to act to fuel it rather than call it out as the institutionalized anti-white racism/genocide that it is.

  • Formerly_Known_as_Whiteplight

That’s just not true. Some Hollywood actors were and Heston was one of them. It’s true that they are fewer and they tend to be ostracized from the “in” crowd. You’ve got to supply some real incidents and comments that can be supported when you write things like that.

  • Pelagian

The coverage of the “50 years” is like an orgy, this week. They even did a 10 minute piece on ESPN Sportscenter this a.m.

Folks, THIS is our civic religion: instead of Jesus Christ conquering death and sin, it’s MLK conquering inequality and bigotry.

  • Like a fool, I just presumed that Billy Ray would cringe upon seeing his daughter’s antics. When in reality, he’s probably happier than anyone on this planet about that. Her antics keep him relevant. He himself was an early 1990s one and a half hit wonder who would have been forgotten today but for his daughter becoming a star in her own right. But her star is rapidly fading too, so she has to act more and more outlandish to keep the spotlight on her, and some of that spotlight shines on him in turn.

Miley’s twerking probably led to thousands of people buying “Achy Breaky Heart” off of “Tunes” websites this week, which would not have happened if she never twerked.
