Latinos Want Bias Probe of Fox, Talk Radio

Paul Bedard, Washington Examiner, September 12, 2012

Latino groups Wednesday blamed a surge in hate crimes against Hispanics on harmful stereotypes portrayed on TV and in conservative media and are asking the administration to probe Fox News and talk radio, two media cited by the groups as the worst perpetrators.

“We want the government to investigate this,” said Alex Nogales, president of the National Hispanic Media Coalition. “Unless we start this dialogue, these assaults will go on,” he said, citing a surge in hate crimes against Hispanics.

Also charging Fox News and talk radio with portraying Hispanics poorly, Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-Ariz., said the administration should provide “protection from the stimuli that is being promoted out there that is causing the correlation between violence, stereotyping and the increasing racism in this country against Latinos.”

News industry insiders, however, noted that Fox has a sister division, Fox Latino, which was recently lauded by NPR. Fox also has several Hispanic hosts.

In one survey of stereotypes held by 900 non-Latinos, 88 percent said that Hispanics take jobs from Americans, 92 percent said they refuse to learn English and 80 percent believe Hispanics are on welfare. When asked how Latinos are portrayed in TV and film roles, 71 percent said as a criminal and 64 percent as a gardener.

Another survey asked Fox, NPR, MSNBC CNN and talk radio fans about Hispanics. Fox viewers accepted the most stereotypes of Hispanics, MSNBC the least. They also compared Fox’s Bill O’Reilly and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow’s viewers and found that half of O’Reilly’s watchers “think Latinos are on welfare and refuse to learn English.”

A racial lobby and their arguably white sycophants are upset that the United States has a 1st Amendment and that even white people are covered by it.  There seems to be a lot of that this week.

    • Oh lookie…

One of them aforementioned fox fakework racist bigots was the first to chime in with hyperbolic [email protected] w/o actually addressing the point – I’m shocked I say, shocked!

According to you, the founding fathers wrote the 1st Amendment to foster dishonest hate speech – wow!

A pseudo-patriotic, gop republican, teabagger who doesn’t understand the Constitution he likes to cherry pick from & beat people over the Head with – this has to be another 1st. *sarcasm*

  • If it’s SO intolerable in this country for the whiny Latinos, why don’ t they return to their countries of origin where 99% of the people look like them and speak their language?  I mean you have to really HATE your country of origin if it’s better to stay and get attacked by the Racist White American Space Hitler Nazis in the US.

  • There is some truth to the fact that many Latinos do not want to learn English. Many of them have been here for years and yet do not speak a word of English.

How come no one ever compares whether Fox viewers are better informed about the non-marital black birth rate (72%) than other MSM consumers?

Germans had negative views of the J-words, so the only explanation possible is Der Sturmer.

Latino groups Wednesday blamed a surge in hate crimes against Hispanics

Published without listing one single source or citing one single example of “hate crimes against Hispanics.”  There IS no surge in crimes against Hispanics.

    How about investigating the following:

*Holder’s program of handing over automatic weapons to Mexican drug cartels.

*The number of Americans killed by Hispanic drunk drivers.

*$20 billion estimated EITC and $4.2 billion in child credits to illegal aliens using multiple, stolen IDs.

*White-hating Raza studies (recently tossed out of Arizona’s schools) that advocate the killing off of Whites.  One textbook entitled Occupied America includes these words by “Professor” Jose Angel Gutierrez:

“We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him,” (pg. 323).”

Or, on p. 167, The Plan of San Diego: “Supporters would execute all white males over age 16,”

Remember, these are textbooks used in American high schools.

Grijalva and Nogales should be ridiculed, mocked and abased at every opportunity.

If they want to see a poor portrayals of Hispanics, they should stand in front of a full-length mirror.

I hope every Mestizo lover here reads and rereads this post.

Who’s kidding who here? The Latinos that want this probe are absolute clowns.  Latinos have dozens upon dozens of radios stations in California, and patriotic Latino Americans, have often expressed shock, at the anti-European-American attitudes expressed on those stations. Then there are the leftist stations, one I often listened to out of Hollywood, that despite being largely broadcast in English, has segments that are totally in Spanish, and the vilest things against white Americans have been stated on that station by radical latino/Mexican groups.

  • ncpride

Oh my. The comments section of this article are full of ‘harmful stereotypes’ of Latinos. I wonder if they will be calling for a probe of the Washington Examiner for allowing such hurtful comments to be posted?

  • I thought closer to 90 percent of them were on welfare. More manufactured victimhood.

A poll by Farleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey showed that of all the news channels out there, Fox News viewers are the least informed.
People were asked questions about news habits and current events in a statewide poll of 600 New Jersey residents recently. Results showed that viewers of Sunday morning news shows were the most informed about current events, while Fox News viewers were the least informed.  In fact, FDU poll results showed they were even less informed than those who say they don’t watch any news at all.

Readers of The New York Times, USA Today and listeners to National Public Radio were better informed about international events than other media outlets…                  “Ideological media does a very poor job overall,” Cassino told Forbes. “They don’t challenge people’s assumptions. In traditional news, you will find that more often than not, there actually is a correct answer and there is no gray area. People who tune into ideological media are motivated to hear their side of the debate.

Those polls are unreliable. They only include questions that are politically correct. Fox news viewers might score better if there were some less politically correct questions.

Also it’s the liberal viewers of Fox News that are bringing their score down. If you only include conservative viewers of Fox News (which are the people this study is implying are ignorant) then Fox scored slightly above CNN, or MSNBC.

BTW, I’m not from the USA, and I’ve never watched any of those channels.

      • JohnEngelman

Can you document your assertions? I usually document mine.

        • The__Bobster

Here’s some documention for you, John DNC Operative:

Yet another new survey shows that Republican supporters know more about politics and political history than Democrats.

On eight of 13 questions about politics, Republicans outscored Democrats by an average of 18 percentage points, according to a new Pew survey titled “Partisan Differences in Knowledge.”

The Pew survey adds to a wave of surveys and studies showing that GOP-sympathizers are better informed, more intellectually consistent, more open-minded, more empathetic and more receptive to criticism than their fellow Americans who support the Democratic Party.

“Republicans fare substantially better than Democrats on several questions in the survey, as is typically the case in surveys about political knowledge,” said the study, which noted that Democrats outscored Republicans on five questions by an average of 4.6 percent.

The widest partisan gap in the survey came in at 30 points when only 46 percent of Democrats — but 76 percent of Republicans —- correctly described the GOP as “the party generally more supportive of reducing the size of federal government.”

The widest difference that favored Democrats was only 8 percent, when 59 percent of Republicans and 67 percent of Democrats recognized the liberal party as “more [supportive] of reducing the defense budget.”

Yes you do and most of it comes from some libiot web site that’s not worth the paper it’s printed on.

    Close the borders now.

Then open them up, toss the Mestizos back, and close them for real.

    “Latinos want bias probe…”

Wonder why? Just because most Hispanics promote illegal aliens and the ills they bring to this country? Just because they think they are the only nationality that should be allowed here?
Just because they whine, demand and take no responsibility for anything they do? Just because
their leaders, especially Mexico, think they have an almighty right to be treated like legal citizens? Just because they want it all, yet hate us.

I would be happy to see every last illegal go back to the hellholes they slithered from, taking their traitorous supporters with them.

And they think we’re biased? Well, yeah…we are.

  • “Surge in hate crimes.”  Who are they kidding?  Most crimes committed against hispanics are done either by other hispanics or blacks.

  • On what basis can the government  investiagate?  Well, they don’t need any because Obama needs the Latino vote.  So, they will probably investigate.

  • It figures that all of the comments beneath this worthy subject matter come from angry, misinformed, hateful, hypocritical, racist, republican, bagger bigots who watch the fox fake-work & listen to hate – I’m not even surprised any more.

The troll patrol of butthurt baggers is formidable.

PS – Y’all can get someone smarter to explain all the big words to you… Any 4th grader will do 😉
