Samuel L. Jackson: I Voted for Obama Because He’s Black

TMZ, February 11, 2012

Barack Obama’s politics meant nothing to Samuel L. Jackson because the “Pulp Fiction” star only voted for the president for one reason and one reason only . . . because he’s black.

In an interview with Ebony magazine, Jackson explained, “I voted for Barack because he was black. ‘Cuz that’s why other folks vote for other people—because they look like them . . . That’s American politics, pure and simple. [Obama’s] message didn’t mean [bleep] to me.”

Jackson then went on to drop the N-word several times when discussing Obama, telling the mag, “When it comes down to it, they wouldn’t have elected a [bleep]. Because, what’s a [bleep]? A [bleep] is scary. Obama ain’t scary at all. [Bleeps] don’t have beers at the White House. [Bleeps] don’t let some white dude, while you in the middle of a speech, call [him] a liar. A [bleep] would have stopped the meeting right there and said, ‘Who the [bleep] said that?’ I hope Obama gets scary in the next four years, ‘cuz he ain’t gotta worry about getting re-elected.”

I appreciate Mr. Jackson’s candor. Now all we need is for the other 32,999,999 black people in America to offer a similar admission, and that “dialogue on race” would truly have begun in earnest.

    • Oil Can Harry

While it’s true most blacks voted for BHO  because of his color the same is true of the whites who pulled the lever for him.

They wanted to “make history” and at the same time show how “tolerant” and “progressive” they were.

  • Samuel L. Jackson voted Obama only for race?  You don’t say.  I thought he voted Obama for his innumerable years of Senate experience.

Speaking of blacks that voted Obama on account of race, that also includes most black “Republicans.”

I voted for McCain because he was a hero…shot down out of the sky, blown up on the deck of a ship, POW for several years, refused to be released ahead of others, was tortured and starved and he never let it break him.  He was a Naval Officer with guts most men only dream of.  McCain also had 20+ years experience as a senator.  Those are the reasons I voted for McCain.

And Mr. Jackson voted for Obama because he’s black?  Sounds about right!

    • I had to drink heavily before voting and then after voting, but I too voted for McCain in November 2008, for one reason and one reason only, to prevent us having a black President.

    • Impertinent

“Those are the reasons I voted for McCain. “

Did you also recall that he was responsible for releasing that weapon that killed all those sailors on that ship? Did you also remember that he complied with the NVA and made traitorous statements against the US while in captivity?

      • Anonymous

Don’t wave the flage at me. I was in the Marines.  I’d like to see you spend 4 years in a POW camp BY CHOICE.   Who should I have voted for….Ron Paul???? LOL

  • Well, if you follow this idiots logic then Obama shouldn’t have received one white vote, but hey Samuel thanks for showing us-once again-who the real racists in America are nowadays. Thanks also Samuel for once again exposing the racist double standard of the American news media. You get to spew all the hate you want without fear of getting the “Mel Gibson treatment” and you weren’t even drunk  when spewing your hate. But, I too hope Obama gets “scary” if he manages to win a second term that way everyones eye’s finally get opened to what a lot of black people like him are truly about.

  • Here’s a bizarre twist:  The “mainstream media” is reporting this!  I saw it on Yahoo news. But don’t hold your breath and expect them to report black on white mayhem.  After all, a profanity-laced comment by a celebrity is far more important than a few thousand white and Asian lives ruined due to black violence.

“After all, a profanity-laced comment by a celebrity is far more important than a few thousand white and Asian lives ruined due to black violence.”

You have to forgive him…he’s just one more lucky, ignorant POS scourge from the public school ghettos that managed to make a living off of violence and profanity….even if he is an illiterate, typical representative of “modern” black culture…regardless of the fact that he’s influenced another generation of social misfits, criminals and gang bangers….so long as he can hide behind his blackness…..he has no fear of the violence he has wrought.

He hides among the most elitist and hypocritical whites that he openly despises as he makes known his preference for skin color over substance. He reaffirms what all intelligent people know ( except for Hollywood crap who would never call him out on his racism..how dare they? )

He mixes with the silly, ignorant, chardonnay class who don’t realize that his skin color preferences call for the extermination of whites…..nay…especially the Jewish whites that make his millions possible.

So…who will produce his next racist screed? One guess…..Tony Goldwyn”?

  • Impertinent

McPain….is a quisling scumbag traitor. From a vet. Possibly worse than kerry.

    • Anonymous

Relax.  McCain is nothing more than your classic case of Stockholm Syndrome.  He enjoys coming together with liberal Dems because his time in Vietnam instilled agreement and compromise as a prerequisite for survival.

But the guy is in no way worse than kerry.  McCain never gave anti-war and anti-US speeches during Vietnam, and was among our bravest to fight in SE Asia.  Too bad the 25 year old McCain isn’t in the Senate.

It seems like Samuel L Jackson needs an eye test for colour blindness.
    Barack Obama is not black.
His mother was white. His father was black.
That makes him a 50/50 white/black human being
In the USA this is known as Mulatto; in the UK mixed-race, and in the RSA Coloured.
He is therefore brown and not black.

Some of you may recall the finger-pointing lecture we got from Bill Clinton when he lamented that whites could not “vote for someone that didn’t look like them” in reference to David Dinkins.

Well, Bill, where’s the outrage now?

  • Anonymous

Samuel L. Jackson is saying to the press what blacks say to each other all the time.  He’s a great actor, but unfortunately he’s black, all too black, in real life.  Which is to say, he’s no friend of ours.

    • Anonymous

If being a big, loud, scary black man makes a great actor then I suppose you’re right but if being big and scary is all that counts then Steven Seagal should have gotten several Oscars.
I have to disagree, S.J. has never acted in anything worth watching, especially for his “talents”, anyone remember “Snakes On A Plane”?

“I’m tired of all these snakes on this plane!!!”
One of the greatest movie statements ever……

      • Anonymous

The movies starring Jackson are generally good to excellent.  Whether that’s because or in spite of his presence is debateable (I argue the former), but if you take the best of his films — “Pulp Fiction,” “Kiss of Death,” “The Last Kiss Goodnight,” “Jackie Brown,” “The Negotiator,” “Shaft,” “Formula 51,” “XXX,” and the “Star Wars” prequel trilogy — there is a lot of filmgoing pleasure to be found.

Of course, what isn’t debateable is that the guy is a black homey who needs to be opposed.

  • Of course he did. That is why all blacks did. They vote race.

The percentage of the voters in a presidential election who are White is 80 percent. A White should never lose to a black in this country. The so-called Whites, to borrow the popular political parlance Whites In Name Only, are responsible for President Obama, Attorney General Hold, Supreme Court Justices Kagan and Sotomayors. The WINOs. What a hell of a hangover we’re going to have after 4 or 8 years of Night Train.

  • Anonymous

“I hope Obama gets scary in the next four years, ‘cuz he ain’t gotta worry about getting re-elected.”

The only thing that bothered me.

  • Anonymous

No kidding.  If McCain would have gotten 43% of the black vote, he probably wins Florida, NC, Indiana, Ohio, and Virginia.

  • To Everyone:
I admit, what Samuel Jackson said, was ridiculous and borderline bigoted. You vote for a person because they’re the best candidate not for racial reasons. However, i find it amazingly
hypocritical that you individuals condemn this. I mean, you all would do the same thing only in reverse. I bet if a black person or other non-white could lead you to heaven, while
a white would lead you to hell, you’ll would follow the white person. Sad but true. Have a good one now!!

    • Anonymous

As I recall Obama got elected on his pithy slogan; “We can change”
Other than that he had nothing to say and somehow the US electorate (mainly white) fell for it.

    • You’re wrong. If a Black politician would, seriously & adamantly, try to effect these policies: halt to immigration, end to affirmative action (it shouldn’t have to be done immediately, but, in, say, 2 yrs), reversal to early 1960 immigration policy, English as the official language on the  national level, explicitly; a policy that would both stress the end of forced desegregation & overall help to Black community to re-establish themselves as self-sustainable part of American society  – I guess many of regulars here would vote for such a person over any wishy washy White liberal.

Blacks are some 13% of the US population & are here to stay. And they should be treated just like other citizens- no better, no worse.

      • To Bardon Kaldian:
There are alot of things you say that i agree with. For affirmative action needs to end. The 1964 civil rights act, which was created to enforce the 14th and 1st ammendments of the constitution, should be enforced verbatim. That’s
may the best person be promoted regardless of who/what they are.In addition, we need to get rid of welfare, afdc, and other programs that keep all
people of every race in a cycle of dependency. So, those views are correct.
However, where i disagree in the fact is the immigrants are here to stay too.
Yes, we must weed out the criminal types but, overall, immigrants are the backbone of our economy. They keep the wheels of industry going. Without them, our society would come to a grinding halt. Oh, something i should mention, there should be school choice. Therefore, people could send their
children to good schools to get a decent education. Furthermore, blacks  are, actually, 15% of the U.S. pop. Yet, you’re right, they’re here to stay.
Next, the problem is that most of the supporters of this website don’t agree with your rationale. I mean, i read ideas such as lets go back to segregation,
slavery, or repatriation which are completely nuts, don’t you think? It’s
true integration shouldn’t be forced on the populace. However, what you don’t
understand, segregation along with other racist laws were forced on the populace all the way to the late 1960’s.  Thereby, what needs to be done is to push for a society that promotes constitutional liberties for all the citizens of this republic. Thanks!!

        • Marcy Fleming

The 1964 and 1968 and 1991 Civil Rights Acts should be repealed en toto.

        • So you want a truly colorblind society.

You must not really pay attention to this medium.  Haven’t you heard that that’s The New Racism?

        • Well…I won’t address each & every issue since it would lead to unnecessarily long debates that are, essentially, mind-numbing.

          1. immigration. This country is ca. 70% white & 13-15% black ( I won’t break down percentages for the rest). Nowhere in the world the dominant group- in this case, European whites- would assent to a racial or cultural suicide via ethnic swamping. I think it’s plain common sense that no black, Asian or..name it..country would do it. Hell, my family fought a war not long ago- it was over in 1995.- because another nation/ethnic group, of the same race, tried to wrest away ca. 25% of our country. Immigration, like rock music and philosophy, just isn’t what it used to be. It cannot be completely halted, but 310 M inhabitants of the US are more than enough. Time to cut the immigration by at least 70-80% & deport illegal aliens. This may be counter-productive for a few months, but will pay back in not so distant future.

          2. Blacks. Blacks are a special segment of American society & the greatest problem is chaotic Black societal structure (if structure is the right word) & Black crime rate (especially sensitive issue is Black on White crime). I don’t know the solution, but the first step would be strong media exposure of criminal activity in Black community, harsh measures for Black-on-White crime (hate crime plus strong condemnation in MSM) combined with rational efforts to help establish Black middle class & family orientation in Black community. This can be done- say, Trinidad and Tobago are examples of successful social engineering.

          3. segregation, slavery etc. are emotional outbursts of frustrated White people. I doubt anyone with sane mind would seriously consider this. It’s like wishing to go back to steam engine or Ford-T model. Just- since I sometimes frequent AA forum Topix- this kind of thinking is not isolated: many posters there, very loudly, proclaim that Whites are Devil, should be exterminated from the face of earth, that Whites in South Africa/mostly Afrikaaners should be eradicated like European Jews in WW2 and that Black people are physically superior to all other races .

  • “Asian” means a person from the continent of Asia.  So, even though we often use the term in a more narrow sense, it has become convention to capitalize the word.  “White”, “black” and “brown”, on the other hand, are colors.  Colors are not capitalized, so the convention is to use lower-case even for ethnicities that derive their names from those colors.  If I were to capitalize “white”, then I’d also have to capitalize “black”.  Yet I don’t see you insisting that I capitalize “black”, nor is it considered correct to capitalize “brown” when referring to Mexicans, Indians etc.

    • Juggernaut

The term “brown” is not used by the media to refer to a people group because it is considered demeaning.  It is either “Hispanic” or “Mexican-American.”  Both capitalized.  I doubt a single media outlet anywhere allows the term “brown” to be used in reference to Hispanics.

“African-American” is the preferred term for blacks in the media.  I have seen nothing else used in higher education.  Note the capitalization.

The term “Indian” is rarely used, the pc term is “Native-American,” which the media use solely.  I doubt there’s a single style book left that suggests “Indian” be used instead of  Native American .  Ditto higher education.   Always capitalized.

“white” (uncapitalized) is used by the media to demean Whites as a people group.  Please start capitalizing it.  The word “Jewish” used in reference to people is never left uncapitalized.

The style manuals of  the American Psychological Association, the venerable Chicago Manual of Style, and the University of Pittsburgh all say to capitalize White.

      • I see your point.  But I also notice that you don’t capitalize “blacks”.  I’m looking for consistency.

  • Bon, From the Land of Babble

I voted for Baraak because he was black.

Raise your hand if this comes as a shock to you.

Everyone else who voted for him did so for the same reason, certainly it wasn’t for his brains.  What did you get for your vote?  More debt and higher unemployment.  Tell everyone you know who voted for “Baraak because he was black and I don’t want to look racist” they no longer have to vote for him.

I didn’t vote for Obama because of his color:  RED

Jackson has a new movie coming out soon, The Avengers (May 2012).  Make a good choice NOT to fill his or Hollywood’s pockets with YOUR money.

Send Hollywood a message since they too only care about one color:  GREEN

Do everything you can NOT to support the troika of evil in America:  Hollywood, The New York Times and Washington DC.

    Bon

Interesting that so many, particularly blacks, are complaining that NBA cause celebre Jeremy Lin is getting so much attention right now only because he is Chinese. Even the astute and normally deliberative AA sports columnist Jason Whitlock has suffered a meltdown on  this subject.

Hey anybody, what about the excess attention Barack Obama gets, even considering he is the U.S. President, only because he is black — a biracial African from a neighborhood that doesn’t have a chain supermarket or a gas station that is to say?

    • Up to my neck in CA

The character he plays in the Avengers Nick Fury was a White man in the comic book world.

Unless Jackson is Republican, he voted his party. He’s a good actor. I like his films, but like most of the people in that profession, he is a political idiot. He and any them, the liberals and the conservatives, who are far lesser in numbers, know no more about politics than any talkative person on the street corner or in the supermarket line.

  • jeffaral

Blacks in America are totally overrated.   I don’t even bother to comment on Mr Jackson’s opinion.

  • This is a narrow view. I’d subscribe to Deng Xiaoping’s maxim:  “It doesn’t matter whether a cat is white or black, as long as it catches mice.”
