West Palm Beach Man Smashed Neighbor’s Window Over Voodoo Fears, Police Say

Alexandra Seltzer, Sun-Sentinel (South Florida), December 14, 2010

A man celebrated his 26th birthday by smashing his neighbor’s window with a brick because he wanted to rid himself of a Voodoo curse, a police report says.

Renald Louis, of West Palm Beach, was arrested Sunday and charged with shooting or throwing a missile into a dwelling with intent to harm.

In court Monday, he was ordered held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Delvin Carter, 45, told police he heard a smashing sound from the living room of his home on High Street in West Palm Beach. {snip}

Carter ran outside and saw his neighbor Louis walking toward his house while carrying another “large paver stone”–later described as a “brick.”

When Carter asked why Louis had thrown the brick through the window, Louis said, “You put Voodoo on me,” and Louis wanted Carter to “take it off” him, the report says.
