3 Injured In Shooting at Juneteenth Festival

AP, June 22, 2008

Three people are injured after shots were fired during the Juneteenth festival in Minneapolis.

Police are still investigating. They say it appears to be gang related.

Two of the injuries took place at the WCCO Radio promotional booth. A radio promotions employee was hit in his ankle, and a woman from U.S. Bank was shot in the thigh.

Juneteenth celebrates the freeing of African-American slaves. A member of the Juneteenth board of directors says the event is supposed to be healing, and the shooting hurts the whole African-American community.
