‘White Supremacism:’ The Devil the Left Needs

Gregory Hood, American Renaissance, August 8, 2019

Once again, liberal activists want Tucker Carlson fired. He questioned whether “white supremacism” is really an urgent problem. This makes him a heretic.

On a recent program, Mr. Carlson said President Trump never endorsed white supremacy, calling the allegation a “lie.” Mr. Carlson said that though the president in fact condemned white supremacy, the Left insists “he didn’t really mean it.”

He’s right about the essentially religious nature of the “white supremacist” accusation. There is no defense. Even if you deny the charge, inquisitors will say they don’t believe you.

However, Mr. Carlson’s real crime wasn’t defending the President. “If you were to assemble a list, a hierarchy of concerns, of problems this country faces, where would white supremacy be on the list?” he asked. “Right up there with Russia, probably. It’s actually not a real problem in America.”

Mr. Carlson called the supposed problem of white supremacy a “hoax, just like the Russia hoax” and a “conspiracy theory used to divide the country and keep a hold on power.”

He’s right, but also sacrilegious.

On Wednesday, Twitter promoted this segment in “What’s Happening” and “Moments.” #FireTuckerCarlson trended almost all day.

Corporate media piled on.

Imagine a proposed boycott after a pundit claimed the deficit isn’t a big deal. It’s impossible. This wasn’t about policy. The Left was reacting against its version of blasphemy.

On Wednesday night, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said “white supremacy is often subconscious” and “dormant.” If that’s true, it’s essentially ineradicable.

There may be white nationalist mass shooters, but it’s wrong to claim violent white supremacy is an urgent threat.

  • A May 2018 policy brief by the Rockefeller Institute of Government found “the perception that whites are responsible for nearly all mass shootings is a myth.”
  • The Anti-Defamation League’s recent reports on “extremist killings” are worthless. They count some killings by blacks as “far-right” and include any killing by a white “extremist” as political terrorism — even a domestic murder.
  • A recent poll found racial prejudice among whites has declined since President Trump’s election.

Many Democrats are now clamoring for reparations, “decriminalization” of illegal immigration, and the abolishment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Such policies are unimaginable in a “white supremacist” country. Far from championing “white supremacism,” the Republican Party condemned Steve King for supposedly defending it, even though he was misquoted. Steve King even voted to condemn himself.

America is no longer united by culture, race, or language. Leftist students hate the Founders, officials destroy monuments to white men, and even the flag is controversial. Many American citizens say it would have been better if whites never came to North America — which means it would be better if America had never existed.

Much as Christianity took over the Roman Empire that once persecuted it, a new faith is conquering the United States. Instead of fighting for the “ashes of their fathers and the temples of their gods,” white Americans will be expected to destroy them.

The fight against “white supremacy” defines the new America. To deny the enemy is to deny the faith. It’s like a Christian denying the Devil, and so implicitly denying God. Fighting “white supremacy” is the moral imperative and meaning of life for millions of Americans.

That’s why they reacted so strongly against Mr. Carlson’s claim that it wasn’t a real issue. He, in effect, had said their lives were pointless.

The fight against “white supremacy” is eternal because, as Miss Ocasio-Cortez unwittingly showed, the enemy that lurks in the unconscious can never fully be defeated. Though objectively “white supremacist” beliefs are declining to the point of zero, “anti-racists” are more hysterical than ever. They are like Puritans fighting the Devil in the 17th century. Many conservatives join this crusade against heresy out of a combination of greed, cowardice, and a sincere desire to keep the country together. America is moving towards a “secular theocracy” of anti-racism.

During Thursday’s program, Mr. Carlson admitted racism is “a problem,” but suggested there were other, more important issues. He also said Americans know “their country is in decline.” Bill Clinton said the same of President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.

Mr. Carlson’s right. Our country is declining because the white population share is declining. It’s the same story in Rhodesia, South Africa, and Baltimore. Without whites, there’s no Western Civilizationor sometimes, much civilization at all. Without whites to prop it up, the world’s sole superpower will fall. The magical thinking of “anti-racists” won’t change that — no matter how many heretics they burn.
