Orbán Sets Forth Some Facts Pertaining to Migrant Crime in Sweden… and in Hungary

Liz Heflin, Remix, September 17, 2025

Earlier this week, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán took flak for misquoting some figures related to migrant crime in Sweden. Specifically, he had posted that “over 280 underage girls arrested for murder,” when in fact very few were charged with that actual offense, albeit they were arrested for other violent crimes.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson was quick to repost Orbán’s tweet, slamming him for “outrageous lies.”

Unfortunately, despite a slight error on Orbán’s part, the ensuing debate between numerous parties has led to only one thing: further exposing just how bad the situation on the ground in Sweden is.

First off, let’s just discuss why teenage girls are even being arrested in the first place. This is due to migrant gangs (clan gangs) purposely using minors, both girls and boys, for their dirty work, as those under 15 cannot be held criminally liable, and those between 15 and 17 will face lesser punitive measures.

Orbán may, in fact, have gotten his figure of 280 straight from a CBS News report of all places. Earlier this month, Sept. 5, CBS reported on the use of teenage girls by Swedish organized crime groups. “Some 280 girls aged between 15 and 17 were charged with murder, manslaughter or other violent crimes last year — though it is unclear how many were linked to organized crime,” the report states.

Stockholm prosecutor Ida Arnell is quoted as having told AFP that girls “have to show that they are even more determined and tougher (than boys) to get the job,” but more and more are signing up willingly.

The situation surrounding crime, and specifically migrant crime, is not news. Five years ago, Remix News reported on a Swedish police chief warning that migrant clans were coming to Sweden to grab power and commit crimes. And we have been reporting on the issue ever since. Like here, and here, and here, and here. Then there’s the fact that three out of four murders in Sweden are not committed by migrants, and here’s a gem.

In fact, the problem has escalated to such an extent that Sweden announced in April it would pay up to €55,000 to migrant families willing to return back to their country of origin. On the back of a surge in homicides and increasingly brazen criminal activity, the Swedish government has framed its remigration policy as a response to the decline in social cohesion and the failure of decades of integration efforts. Still, some on the left apparently have no clue.

So why is Sweden’s prime minister calling out a slight misquote by a fellow EU leader, all while calling him “desperate,” leaves one scratching one’s head. The situation in Sweden is bad, and now many more people are clear on that.

As to Orbán, he had his own take on the matter.

“We feel for the Swedish people – trapped in disorder while their leaders spend their time pointing fingers,” he commented on a repost of Kristersson’s tweet.

The Hungarian prime minister then laid out the facts: “Hungary: 0 bombings, 0 illegal migrants, 132 people smugglers caught, 16,000 illegal migrants apprehended in 2024 alone. Safe, orderly, under control.

“Sweden: 317 gang-related explosions in 2024, 32 this January, 62,000 linked to criminal networks, 8,935 illegal migrants, gun homicide rate 4 per million vs. 1.6 EU avg.”

One final note for Sweden’s PM: If any number of minor girls have been arrested for any crime, and certainly if that number is in the hundreds and in fact pertains to violent crimes, perhaps it is best not to try to defend that, in any way.

It is fair to correct the record on Orbán’s quote, but then to scream about rule of law in Hungary while ignoring a spiraling crime crisis in your own nation, reeks of desperation and an attempt to distract from domestic issues.
