Four Police Officers Injured in Bavarian Asylum Shelter Attack

Lukács Fux, European Conservative, July 15, 2025

Four police officers were injured on Saturday evening after a violent incident at an asylum shelter in Memmingerberg, Bavaria. A 29-year-old man with a migrant background attacked the officers following a dispute over room assignments, police said.

The altercation began when the 29-year-old and a 32-year-old man were to be placed in the same room. Both refused, leading to an argument in which the older man punched the 29-year-old in the face.

The next day, the 29-year-old was asked to move to a different room. According to police, he reacted aggressively, first attacking security staff and then assaulting the police officers who arrived at the scene. One officer sustained moderate injuries and was taken to hospital.

An arrest warrant was issued, and the suspect was taken into custody.

Authorities have reported a rise in violence at asylum shelters across Germany. According to officials in Hamburg, police have been deployed to such facilities almost daily in 2024. In a separate incident in June, an Afghan asylum seeker stabbed several officers in Baden-Württemberg, seriously injuring one before being shot and killed by police.
