More Than 40% Of Americans Believe a Civil War Is Likely Within the Next 10 Years

Over 40 percent of Americans believe the country is headed toward civil war within the next 10 years, while nearly everyone believes political divisions have gotten worse since the start of 2021.

Forty-three percent of adults overall believe the nation will fight a civil war within the next 10 years and 35 percent believe civil war is not very likely or not at all likely, while 22 percent responded ‘not sure,’ according to a new Economist-YouGov poll.

Self-identified ‘strong Republicans’ were the most likely to believe the nation is headed toward bloody strife – 21 percent believe civil war is ‘very likely’ within the next 10 years, while 33 percent believe it is somewhat likely.

Fourteen percent of ‘strong Democrats’ responded that civil war within the decade was ‘very likely’ while 26 percent said it was somewhat likely.

Sixty-six percent of Americans believe political violence has increased since the start of 2021 while 17 percent believe it has stayed the same and eight percent think it has decreased.

Republicans are more likely than Democrats to say the nation has become more politically divided – 79 percent to 59 percent.

The survey was conducted from 1,500 U.S. adults.

The new polling comes after the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago fired up supporters of Donald Trump who believe the former president is being unfairly targeted.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., warned there will be ‘riots’ in the streets if Trump is indicted for mishandling classified documents.

‘Most Republicans, including me, believe when it comes to Trump, there is no law. It’s all about getting him,’ Graham said on Fox News on Sunday night.

‘There is a double standard when it comes to Trump. What happened with Hunter Biden is that the FBI weighed in to make sure the story didn’t break before the 2020 election.

‘We now have whistleblowers at the FBI telling Senator Chuck Grassley they were told to slow down and back off Hunter Biden.

‘And I’ll say this, if there is a prosecution of Donald Trump for mishandling classified information after the Clinton debacle… there will be riots in the street.

As the FBI launched its raid on the former president’s home in a criminal investigation related to his handling of classified documents, fresh allegations came out that the FBI slow-walked an investigation into the findings on Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop in the run-up to the 2020 election.
