Two Afghan refugees are being held in a Dane County jail after being charged with crimes alleged to have been committed at Fort McCoy in Tomah.

Bahrullah Noori, 20, is charged with three counts of attempting to engage in a sexual act with a minor, while using force in one case. The victims were under the age of 16, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Mohammad Haroon Imaad, 32, is charged with assaulting his spouse by strangling and suffocating her.

The two were among more than 12,000 Afghan residents who were evacuated from the country as U.S. forces withdrew from Afghanistan in August and flown to Fort McCoy in Monroe County.
