Chicago suffered extensive rioting damage last night. Unlike the 1960s and ’70s black riots, in which blacks burned down their own neighborhoods, last night they plundered Chicago’s most upscale neighborhoods. Yesterday, I constantly heard sirens out my windows. I also heard four helicopters overhead all day. Not until the evening did I become aware of the extensive damage. From what I read, every store on Michigan Avenue, Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, had its windows broken and many were looted. The windows of many stores and office buildings in downtown Chicago were also broken. Chicago City Hall also had windows busted.
Driving around portions of city today I saw the aftermath the carnage. Apple, Walgreens, and high-end stores were broken into and looted. I was not able to visit the most affected area, but even in the less touched areas of the city there was extensive damage. Merchants were closing early and boarding up their stores. In particular, the big box stores, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes and such, were all closing early and boarding up.
The Mayor has asked for the National Guard to be sent to the city. They are to arrive tonight. A 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew was imposed last night and will continue for the indefinite future. All public transportation stopped today at 6:30 p.m. The downtown and near north neighborhoods are closed to non residents. Police manned roadblocks to keep out strangers. The bridges were raised to further isolate the upscale areas of Chicago. It is now 9:30 p.m., Sunday, and once again I hear sirens and helicopters. Today, when I went out, I was carrying. It was the first time I truly felt it was a necessity.
Driving around today, after reading of all the smashed windows and seeing firsthand all the broken glass, I though history was repeating itself. I associated what saw with Kristallnacht, 1938 Nazi Germany. Yesterday, God forbid, has the potential to be white America’s Kristallnacht. While the two events are not identical there is enough similarity to have sent a tingle down my spine.
There have been many other recent wake up calls. None has gotten America honestly to address its racial crisis. I pray that white America will not suffer the same fate as that of the Jews. There is still time for our people to act. It is time for our people to speak and act in their own best interests. The time for denial is over.
