Lloyd Apologizes for Serving at Batavia Detention Center

Tom Puckett, WREN, October 24, 2019

Lloyd Taco Truck is issuing an apology for serving meals at the Batavia Federal Detention Center.

In a statement, Lloyd says it received a request a few weeks back to serve there. However, it says it made an honest mistake going there, saying “Lloyd’s has deep ties to the immigrant and refugee communities in Buffalo.” {snip}

The Batavia facility holds detainees in custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

That decision led to a backlash on social media, with one tweeter posting, “Gotta make sure the deportation squad gets their tacos I guess. Pathetic choice to make a buck.”

State Senator Rob Ortt responded in a statement, “In what world does a company feel the need to apologize for serving food to federal law enforcement officers who work in dangerous conditions? Pathetic pandering. The men and women who work to enforce our immigration laws and protect us deserve better.”
