Mark Kirk: ‘We Drive Faster’ Through Black Neighborhoods

Alexandra Jaffe, CNN, April 17, 2015

Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk says he won’t talk about race anymore after his comments last week that “we drive faster” through black communities sparked criticism from Democrats.

Kirk made the comments in an interview with the Peoria Journal-Star, when asked his thoughts on encouraging innovation in Illinois. Kirk touted his efforts to foster an “African-American entrepreneurial class,” and suggested Illinois could someday be home to a “class of African-American billionaires.”

“That would really adjust income differentials and make the diversity and outcome of the state much better so that the black community is not the one we drive faster through,” he added.

{snip}

Kirk is seen as Republicans’ most vulnerable incumbent this cycle, and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee wasted little time in pouncing on the comments, calling them “offensive.”

“Panicked over his dismal reelection prospects, it appears that no bloc of Illinois voters is safe from the over-the-top and offensive rhetoric that seems to spew weekly from Mark Kirk’s mouth,” said Sadie Weiner, DSCC national press secretary.

Weiner added that Kirk owes the state a “barrel of apologies.”

On Wednesday, the senator told the Chicago Sun-Times that he’d avoid future controversy by avoiding discussions of race altogether.

“I would say that whenever a targeted member talks about race or ethnicity, it is impossible for him to get it right. So I’ll leave it at that,” Kirk said.

Tourists to South Africa are often urged for their personal safety not to wait at red lights when travelling through black neighborhoods.

These people are the same everywhere around the world.

    • Cheri Rodriguez

Same thing in Puerto Rico and other such places south of the border. Somebody’s car is broken down by the side of the road and they’re flagging you down for help? Roll up the windows and keep going!

      • pcmustgo

Cheri, are you Puerto Rican? Hispanic? White Hispanic? Fully white? I am half Jewish… yeah, in Miami, I was approached with the standard “do you need help” by hispanic guys in flashy cars- I had got lost on their roads but was pretending I wasn’t… I lock my doors, I carry a knife in my hands when walking from a nearby door to the car which is , at most, 1/2 to 1 block away… if I’m in the ghetto.

        • Cheri Rodriguez

100% White. Phony name to throw off government agents.

          • Johann Wald

I did the same thing. 100% WASP and I chose a German ID to piss of the German haters out there. It works too. Been called a “Nazi” almost daily here and there since then.

          • propagandaoftruth

I recently realized the acronym for my handle is “pot”. That must really throw them off.

So you’re a Nazi? I’ve been thinking about moonlighting as a Jewish mobster, since I’m maybe 1/64th or 1/128th “Jewish” and this fake Jew guy I do business with sometimes keeps telling me I remind him of his son.

            Just kidding.

          • Johann Wald

No Nazi here. I’m not sure they’ve yet coined a phrase for those of us that support the Constitution and the concept of America as envisioned by the founding fathers. Wait! We’re called “right wing extremists” by MSM.

          • You’re a WHITE HISPANIC, the worst kind, according to Obama anyway.

        • Cid Campeador

You need to carry a gun or a Wasp and Hornet bomb with you, . A knife can easily be taken from you.

          • slobotnavich

Actually, a gun is much easier to take away from a person within arms length than is a knife, at least if it has a barrel long enough to give the disarmer leverage. With a knife, you’re gonna get cut, and if it’s really sharp, probably cut badly. I can take a gun away from anyone dumb enough to be within arm’s reach, at least if it has a barrel four or more inches long with which to provide leverage. Having said all that. a gun is far preferable to any edged weapon for inflicting pain, suffering and death on any assailant, as the British proved to the Zulus.

          • Yeah, but the close range gun sure worked for George Zimmerman!

        • Johann Wald

If you were the victim of a crime the press would go ballistic about a “new wave of antisemitism” whereas the rest of us, were we victims of a similar crime, us “goyim” as you are wont to call us, wouldn’t even be a blip on the radar.

      • Cid Campeador

That was the trap that wound up as the Knoxville Horror. Channon and Christopher stopped to “help” the monsters who murdered them. Those monsters are still eating, exercising and getting free MED and DENTAL care on the dime of the people of Tennessee.

          • Cid Campeador

WE ALL have to get started. There will be more Knoxvilles, Wichitas and other horrors. You can take THAT to the bank.

Camden, NJ at night has the same unofficial rule, especially around Rutgers.

      • LostHearts

We lived in Trenton NJ over 20 years ago and the cops were saying the same thing even back then….if it is safe, do not stop at red lights in certain parts of the city. Seems things never change….

      • Cid Campeador

Camden has been a Hellhole for the past two decades if not more.

        • IstvanIN

          Way more.

        • It was a slum as long as I can remember. Way more than twenty years. At least since the early sixties, if not before.

There’s people who go to South Africa as tourist?

      • pcmustgo

I know a dorky, white guy who was a total p—-y in high school who travels all over Africa ALL the time and says it’s great and very little need to “worry about safety” while traveling in Africa if you stick to the main business areas… he laughed it off. Honestly, he kind of seemed gay as a kid and maybe he likes Africa for the cheap gay sex… idk… he went to a great college and works for an NGO… UN type situtation…

        • ElComadreja

He probably has AIDS at the very least.

      • pcmustgo

I do a lot of online dating and it seems every other upper middle class successful liberal guy in NYC has been to Africa, usually Ghana… you know White people, they “love travelling”….

Visiting for a weekend to prove how much they love diversity.

        • EuropeanIdentity33

Well they have some interesting cuisine over there. I hear it all tastes like chicken…

          • Cid Campeador

Everything EXCEPT the chicken. There were several restaurants in Nigeria that included “human” on the menu.

          • “I ain’t afraid of you guys! You can eat me!….Wait, wait…that was just an expression…HELP!!!!”

          • EuropeanIdentity33

Doesn’t surprise me, you never know what you’re getting with the bush meat they eat over there.

        • InAFreeCountry

I can think of many better places to visit, the kind where you don’t need to get shots first.

        • I have little desire to travel abroad anymore. Southern Chile apparently has some good fishing, but we’ve got plenty of that here in the US. I could go to the Pacific northwest for less expense, without having to change money or deal with the TSA goons at airports (one gay pervert at the Denver airport was recently fired for fondling male passengers).

          • JTK

Why you picked Chile? It is the safest and wealthiest country in Latin America. 90% white. Much safer than most of the USA, even if you don’t speak Spanish.

          • It’s doubtless a decent place, but it’s a bit far out of the way (unless one wants to escape the Northern Hemisphere winter), and doesn’t offer much that one can’t have in our Lower-48. As much as I liked Sydney, Australia in 1997-98 I feel no complusion to return even there. I’d like to visit New Zealand’s South Island, but again, there’s no real need.

          • Argentina is the most White country in South America and one that I would consider moving to if tshtf in the US. Chile is mostly mestizo, but with more European blood.

          • JTK

Chile is mostly White. They have more Mestizo population than Argentina, but not nearly the majority. Maybe 30%. When you walk true streets of Santiago, it feels like a major European city. Clean, safe and prosperous. I can’t say the same about Buenos Aries. If you look carefully, you will see a lot poverty there. For the most White place in Latin America, I will pick Uruguay. 91% European. The definition of White is different in Latin America, but majority of people on the streets of Montevideo look more White than in Paris.

          • Ironically, Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay, might be our “last frontier” someday. Political correctness and cultural Marxism hasn’t hit South America. As far as the US is concerned, we don’t need another Ronald Reagan; it’s too late for that. We need our own Pinochet.

On one level, moo ha ha, but on the level I function – I drive slower and more cautiously in browntown.

      Speed on through, Senator, LOL!!!!

      • John Smith

Negro pedestrians do seem to want to dare you to hit them.

        • mgs166

          Ghetto lottery anyone?

          • John Smith

If you hit one, you need to keep going and call the police when you get to a safer area. Negroes even shoot their own when they hit a niglet.

          • Cid Campeador

            How did I miss that?

        • Cid Campeador

That’s common in Atlantic City. They saunter slowly across the street looking at you daringly. “Gohead trah an hit meh Muthafuggah!” I have fantasies about driving an APC down MLK Bld. and just plowing through them.

          • LostHearts

It’s been over 20 years since we drove in Atlantic City, but even back then they would ride their bikes in and out of traffic (slowly, of course) hoping to get “hit”. I always thought they were looking for easy money through a lawsuit and/or insurance.

          • Cid Campeador

Save your fuel. Atlantic City had a grand opportunity to come back to being the Worlds Playground but with incompetent leadership, lack of vision and the Mau Mau it’s going down the tubes again.
The Revel, arguably the most grandiose of all, lasted hardly a year. Trying to appeal to young hipsters (who don’t have lots of money to throw away) just didn’t work out and the neighborhood where it was located was “sketchy”. That’s a code word for “When you leave the Casino you may be attacked by “Mayates” Same thing happening at the Sugar House on the Delaware river in Philly..

  • how about this

It is better that a hundred innocent White men be carjacked by Negroes than that one White man be racist, as the great William Blackstone said.

    • LHathaway

It is better that a hundred innocent White men be carjacked by Negroes than that one White man be ‘racist’.

  • TomIron361

If I were this guy, Kirk, I’d say yeah, I said that, what’s wrong with that? If he’s so vulnerable, it could only help him.

    • CallahanAuto

Might as well go down swingin.’ Someday, a politician will get it and will have the courage to be defiant. It’s the kind of leader we are all looking for, but not getting.

      • AmericanRemnant

None will risk that kind of leap of faith knowing how apathetic the public has become, unfortunately.

        • CallahanAuto

That is a very good point. It’s very hard to stick your neck out when the people who would be inclined to support you don’t care enough to do so, or are afraid to do so. It’s going to take some extraordinary, courageous people to lead the way, because we are up against a monster.

          • We are those people. It starts with each one of us who is awake.

          • mgs166

I’ve been “awake” for a long time. Some day I will slumber, but not today.

          • They’re too busy watching jock sports on the One-Eyed Babysitter.

          • CallahanAuto

I know quite a few white men who are so close yet so far from understanding the real deal, but love of professional sports is one of the things that blinds them. They’ll bitch and moan about NFL criminality but they won’t pick out the color of crime, for example.

Other blind spots: bitching about welfare but no acknowledgement of what racial groups consume the most freebies by percentage; failure to reconcile “I Know a Good One” from group behaviors; failure to see themselves as racial beings even though their life choices (where they live, what they like to do, who their best friends are) are racially tinged.

I can’t tell you how many times I have heard whites favorably compare Italian/Irish immigration with immigration from non-white countries. As long as its legal immigration, it’s OK, and assimilation just happens. Everyone is the same. There are no racial differences. Blacks just need to work harder, get an education, have families with fathers.

These are otherwise smart people who have skills, white collar and blue collar. They just have been completely de-racialized. They’ll see themselves as being of German or Irish ancestry but they don’t identify as white, even when other racial groups are aligned against them politically.

They don’t see that whites made the USA what it is. They spout garbage about Chinese people laying down railroads and blacks picking crops, as if that had anything to do with innovation, system of government and general prosperity. Cognitive dissonance at its worst.

And when they see me as a Nazi for making what they believe is a specious and horrific argument, I end up with a sad feeling in my chest, sorry that I ever engaged them on this subject. I come here and I feel better, but it still hurts when people you otherwise like (and they otherwise like you) think you’re a hateful nutjob.

          • pcmustgo

Yup, or they say “there’s only one race, the human race”… deny race exists.

          • pcmustgo

Or they don’t want to “offend” and immediately censor away any violent crime statistics you bring up.
Or they say the Black violence comes from Poverty, and how dare we judge it!
Or they assume they have experience with Blacks, when usually they have almost none! They’re hurt by or don’t understand the fact you have more experience with these other racial groups, and therefore have more say.
Or they mention they have a “black friend”, as if that changes anything.
Or they don’t get why any of this matters, how things will change as we become minorities and why we should care about immigration or Europeans should have a homeland.

          • pcmustgo

Or they are in total denial about statistics…and say they’re all false anyways, open to manipulation.

      • An old English saying goes “Better to be hanged for a pound than a penny.”

Never apologize, let alone grovel. I’ve posted under my own name here for about 12 years. What can the libtards possibly to do to me? I don’t even want a regular job anymore, so career-destruction isn’t open to them in my case.

        • carriewhite64

          .

          • Cheri Rodriguez

            Nope. KKM barrels.

          • Those larger cartridge cases necked-down are a good concept. I got a .41″ Action Express kit (barrel, recoil spring and four magazines) for my Browning High-Powers in the early 1990’s, and became intrigued with the 9mm Action Express round (the .41″ AE case necked down to 9mm). I never did get a barrel for that, though. This isn’t even a very new idea, as the 38/45 (a .45″ ACP case necked down to .357″) appeared in about 1963 as a conversion for 1911A1 pistols).

While restoring some Mauser “Broomhandle” pistols, however, I did have one with a shot-out barrel bored out and rerifled/rechambered to 9mm X 25 Mauser Export, and made the brass by trimming 9mm Win Mag. Ballistics were quite impressive, which leaves me a bit wistful about my abandoned .41″ AE project.

    • Albert

Ever notice that when you hear about a tourist getting killed in their car, it’s almost always because they unwittingly drove through the wrong neighborhood.

  • How dare such racism be allowed in America? This Mark Kirk must be arrested immediately. We all know that the wonderful diversity and richness of African culture are the greatest asset America has ever had and ever will have.

Imagine how culturally deprived whites would be without the spray painted graffiti in black areas. Imagine the enrichment that comes from the presence of crack cocaine and whores in short shorts and thigh high boots walking the streets.

Picture all the young basketball players shooting hoops in makeshift street courts. And don’t you love how blacks turn streets into pedestrian walkways by walking in the middle of the street all the time.

And aspiring rappers are everywhere, enriching us with their poetry of the streets focused on the black man’s struggle against white oppression.

I demand that this Mark Kirk be lobotomized before he speaks the truth again.

    • Albert

They can’t arrest you for not being “pc” yet. Just publicly ostracize and perhaps destroy your career.

  • Susannah

When in college, I had an idiotic boyfriend who decided to take a shortcut through a very rough black neighborhood after a date late one night. His car then proceeded to break down at an intersection. We were the only White people in sight, and I sat, frightened out of my wits, on the floorboard to avoid the menacing looks of the locals. Mercifully, my boyfriend finally arranged to have the vehicle towed without incident. We were fortunate.

No non-black should voluntarily drive in or walk through a black neighborhood.

    • Cheri Rodriguez

I do. And it’s usually at 4am with Van Halen blasting from my car stereo (payback for them riding around blasting their hip hop/rap music through town all day).

      • groidle

I blast country music every time I drive through “da hood”.

        • I like both country *AND* western.

          • mgs166

I enjoy country music. But only from the early 90’s and before. In my opinion, there hasn’t been real country music produced in over 20 years.

          • John Smith

There has, but it won’t be on the radio.

          • texasoysterman

You might find what you’re referring to on satellite radio. Myself, I’m partial to Outlaw Country. I hear plenty of recent vintage country that you would never hear on free radio.

Love that Good Ole Blues Brothers Boys Band.

        • In my small town, the local businesses play exactly three kinds of music: country, folk, and classical. It deters unwanted company from lingering and we residents find it pleasant to the ears.

          • [Guest]

My wife and I stopped at a familiar restaurant in a nearby small town and found that it was playing rap music on the sound system. We each visited the restroom and then left.

We’re familiar with the restaurant and have never seen a black in the place. And the town, according to Wikipedia, is 98 percent white.

White restaurant. White town. Black music.

          • Lost business. Closed doors.

I hope this really hurts this RINO POS for his chances of being re-elected. He’s exactly what the GOP doesn’t need, even if he spoke some truth for a change.

“we drive faster” through black communities-
It’s racist to admit their is a problem- like suggesting that black neighborhoods might have more than their fair share of crime.

My dad told me when driving through a slum area, if you see kids out playing, do not stop at stop signs or you may get carjacked.

Now, if I go visit my mom, instead of taking I-75 through Detroit, I take the long way around–I-275 through the western suburbs.

    • Evette Coutier

Try driving Davidson across town. Now that an adventure.

  • groidle

    So what? He’s right.

  • Bunky

    Drive faster?
    Don’t go near them.
That’s the only way to be sure.

  • I actually drive SLOWER through black neighborhoods. The last thing I want to do is get into an accident in the Hood.

    • RaySist27

I actually drive slower thru the one black neighborhood that’s near me. I’m worried about the cops targeting White drivers for speeding. If I get a ticket, I can’t whine about discrimination or driving while black. Nor can I just ignore it like they do, I have to pay the ticket and my insurance goes up. Slow down in black neighborhoods and soak in all the enriching diversity, it’s like being on some kind of safari. Just don’t let your guard down.

      • Cops target Whites in black areas because they think the White drivers are there to buy drugs. Isn’t that “profiling”?

  • Evette Coutier

I’m my youth I had to drive down Woodward Ave in Detroit to get home. It was exciting watching the hookers, the gangs, and the local fauna. I got to see a black pump smash a liquor bottle over one of his girls heads. It was goods time right until I got a flat at 7 mile road. I drove on that flat tire 4 miles up the road until I got to Royal Oak. It destroyed the tire, but it was one of the best lessons of my life. I knew the dangers, but being young I didn’t think it could happen to me. Nothing is better than a good hard reminder of reality to mature your thinking. It’s why our young liberal college kids are clueless. They lack maturing experiences in their sheltered lives.

  • LHathaway

So, if you Don’t recognized blacks are stigmatized and have ‘lessor prospects’, you’re insensitive, and probably kind of racist. If you Do recognize blacks are stigmatized, or at least some Black neighborhoods are avoided, you’re also considered insensitive and racist. Just clearing that up for readers.

    • Quido

Blacks are certainly better drivers than whites. Did you ever see a white person be able to navigate thru traffic with the radio blasting rap while lying almost prone looking up?

  • libertarian1234

“That would really adjust income differentials and make the diversity and outcome of the state much better so that the black community is not the one we drive faster through,” he added.”

I seriously doubt if he made them all billionaires the out-of-control mob actions would ever drop off very much.

They’re dumb and have a propensity for crime and violence, and that has nothing to do with money.

“I would say that whenever a targeted member talks about race or
ethnicity, it is impossible for him to get it right. So I’ll leave it at
    that,” Kirk said.

What is he saying here? If he is saying that the Democrats will attack any Republican who talks about race or ethnicity in any way except for talking about how great NAMs are, then he is right. Otherwise I’m not sure what he means by “targeted member”.

    • journey

You got it correct. They target the ones who are not following their script and agenda.

    • Spikeygrrl

Somewhat off-topic: Why do you appropriate as your screen name the legal name of a dead but still much admired racial realist scholar?

I could screen-name myself christopherhitchens or juliachild or merylstreep or minniemouse or janisjoplin…but why would I want to?! I can totally understand the impulse to hang onto your hide your own beliefs behind those of your work colleagues and social contacts….but, jeminy Christmas, the battle lines are being drawn up NOW.

What to do and not get bashed for it (yet):
EDUCATION: Do NOT NOT NOT put your kids in government schools! If you can’t afford secular prep schools for your professionally qualified, 130+ kids — and, let’s face it, there is STILL a LOT of $ available for “gifties” who can make the grade.

  • slobotnavich

I don’t drive faster in black neighborhoods but I do lay my M19 S&W .357 on the seat next to me with two full Speedloaders when in such Indian country.

    • I try never to go near African neighborhoods but when it’s necessary, I move my Glock and a spare loaded magazine to the console holster. Why take unnecessary chances?

      • John Smith

There’s an excellent chance some negro will break into my car at work, so I stash only a NAA Guardian .380 that they will have a hard time finding.

  • carriewhite64

I actually like his reaction statement. If the original story reported correctly, he did not apologize, he identified himself as a “targeted member,” and he asserted that it is impossible for someone like him to “get it right.” He diplomatically blamed his critics. And by promising to never discuss race again, he highlights the inherent dishonesty of blacks’ so-called desire for an “honest discussion.”

  • journey

“it is impossible for him to get it right” You got it right. You just got to remember how it was living under Communism = the state controls your thoughts, comrade.

  • Light from the East

“We drive faster” – a common sense but someone hypocritically thinks we can’t say the truth.

  • Lexonaut

We don’t drive faster through black neighborhoods — we don’t drive through them at all.

    • John Smith

Some folks work in the city, unfortunately. I have to drive back MLK Dr. a ways to get home.

  • Eagle1212

I would avoid those areas altogether.

  • Earl P. Holt III

Mark Kirk is useless, and his pandering will not help him get re-elected…

  • Hank Richter

As I say, I always just LOVE IT when some boot-licker has his/her boot-licking completely backfire on them.

  • BeckySunnybrook

Given what happened in Milwaukee recently and in Detroit a few months ago, when someone accidentally ran into a child and was either a) almost beaten to death and b) shot to death, best to drive carefully but determinedly, if those areas can’t be avoided.

    • chuck_2012

no stopping, doors locked and the escape route mentally noted.

  • Miles Smith

    Honesty?

    Punish that man!

How dare anyone speak openly and honestly about race or blacks…

  • Lygeia

This should make every Democrat in the 10th district vote for Republican Senator Mark Kirk, as well as all the Republicans.

  • Jon

I think he should have said that it is the black leaders responsibility to uplift the black community and not white repubs but they are to afraid they will not get elected. At least he was honest about not wanting to stay in that area for long. Blacks need to help accountable for their own group and no amount of wishful thinking about them becoming billionaires will change that.

    • propagandaoftruth

Blacks need to be held accountable for their own group…

Actions. Yeah, “disparate impact” (perfect example of conflation of cause and correlation, as well as Marxist claptrap) is the excuse that never stops excusing.

Well, one day it will. Maybe sooner than it seems.

  • De’Ontavious Jizzaiah Jones

Well in Orlando, I not only drove faster, I ran red lights in black neighborhoods as well to get the hell out of there..

  • mikefromwichita

actually the Zulu aren’t all that bad when left to themselves. The ANC communist power base is among the Xhosa.

  • mikefromwichita

The ONLY black billionaires Illinois will ever produce are democrat machine rent seekers hoarding wealth stripped from its White producers.

  • Malgus

    Oh good lord…

America has been reduced to a bunch of hyper-butthurt whiny minorities, each trying to out-outrage each other in an effort to win the Biggest Poor Woobie Award…

If I were this guy, I would just say “Yeah, I said that. So? You going to focus on the issues or is that all you got?”

Thing is, anyone with more than two working brain cells always drives faster through black neighborhoods. Doors locked, windows up, head on a swivel and your hand creeps closer to your concealed carry…

    • Rob

Well said especially the first part.

  • Rossbach

Sen. Kirk has a NumbersUSA grade of “F”. His electoral defeat would be no loss to the people of Illinois.
