Air Force Announces ‘Diversity and Inclusion’ Initiatives to Recruit More Women

Elizabeth Harrington, Free Beacon, March 5, 2015

The United States Air Force announced new initiatives to recruit and retain more women and minorities, as Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James warned that those who choose to not understand “diversity and inclusion” will not thrive in the service.

The changes include giving women shorter than 5 feet 3 inches waivers so they can meet the height requirements to become pilots and “gender-neutral standards for all jobs.”

Federal News Radio reports:

Troubled by a lack of women and minorities at the Air Force’s higher levels, its leaders are rolling out nine initiatives focusing on recruitment, promotions and retention. Some are new ideas. Others are existing programs that will be enhanced, Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James said. […]

Women make up 19 percent of the Air Force. But they are twice as likely as men to cut their military careers short, James noted. Furthermore, she said, both women and people of color are underrepresented in the pilot ranks. She attributed the imbalance to a male-oriented military culture, rigid regulations and laws.

The initiatives were announced on Wednesday to coincide with Women’s History Month. James laid out the plan during a “Women and Leadership in National Security” conference in Washington, D.C.

The Air Force will begin setting “gender-neutral standards for all jobs, including those in the seven career fields now closed to women,” Federal News Radio reported.

The new plan will also “make it easier for shorter people, those under 5-foot-4, to become pilots.”

The Air Force currently requires pilots to be at least 5 foot 3 inches tall, and no taller than 6 foot 4 inches. They must also weigh between 160 to 231 pounds, depending on height.

More female admirals and generals on the way!

    • Uh, female? Are we sure?

Combat ready? Putin’s Russia will destroy us.

      • 1stworlder

If we say all American women look like that no one will want to invade us.

        • David Ashton

          Mars Attacks! v Iron Sky?

      • libertarian1234

“Combat ready? Putin’s Russia will destroy us”
For sure, especially in a conventional war, even with NATO joining forces with us.

Which would probably also involve China, Iran and North Korea also, with ISIS and other jihadists opening up a fifth front in the M.E., right along with sleeper cell attacks here and in Europe.

      • Kenner

Irony is, this is how Russian women were depicted by us during the cold war.

      • 李冠毅

What’s wrong with female soldiers? The Soviet Union employed female fighter pilots during World War II. Try reading up “Stalin’s Female Falcons”.

        • The fact that “standards” are being changed to “gender neutral standards” is what’s wrong. I highly doubt the Soviet union was cutting corners with any women they allowed to fly a plane. We, on the other hand, DO cut corners and standards, CONSTANTLY because women cannot meet the standards which are already in place.

These lowered standards lower the quality of the individual soldiers, those individual soldiers lower the quality of their unit, that unit lowers the quality of the army, and the army then loses the war. I have no particular problem with women in the military, it makes it so the men dont even need to leave base to “get some” (oh goodness i’m such a chauvenistic pig!).

What I have a problem with is when we say “oh… you cant do that many pushups? Well… how many can you do? Hmmm… 5? Okay, good enough!”

          • BlueSonicStreak

            Well put.

“Gender neutral standards” may as well mean, “haha, WHAT combat readiness?”

Even honest female soldiers admit that.

        • listenupbub

And the women backlashed wonderfully against feminism, and now are the most feminine in the world. Gosh, I love FSU women.

      • archer

        Don’t forget China

    • David Ashton

Man the dykes – the enemy is coming!

    • WR_the_realist

No matter how hard the diversicrats try to deny the reality behind stereotypes, what we’re getting in the military as a result of eliminating all gender roles is exactly what a reprobate conservative would have guessed — it has become a haven for lesbians.

    • JackKrak

Drop leaflets with these, um, ladies over enemy positions to put them off sex forever.

We’ll win every war by default.

    • Kenner

I remember the one on the lower left resigned over something she said. Can’t recall what.

    • InAFreeCountry

So feminine too. However do they do it?

  • Truthseeker

I’ll bet every foreign power hostile to the U.S. reads this stuff and laughs.

    • Rhialto

I don’t think so. Airforces are becoming increasingly robotized. For example, women can sit in a safe airconditioned room, and give the final approval for drone attacks as well as men.

      • David Ashton

On foreign family gatherings too. Don’t break your fingernail on the button!

      • Neuday

From what I’ve seen, it’s far more likely that the women will be sitting in meeting room discussing the forms, procedures and approvals needed for requesting permission to gather information to be used to bring before a committee who will follow a process to determine if a drone strike might be included as one of several responses to a matter currently under investigation by a separate department. Women in government are very good at this stuff.

    • connorhus

Oh you know they do. The US military will eventually come to a complete stop trying to decide what cut of uniform to purchase, how many meetings to have, etc. If we ever get into a scrape with a real military all the Feminist, PC and Female officers will seal our fate. Right now we can afford to waste so many resources on a bad idea because there is no one to challenge us.

      • ElComadreja

We’ll have lots of effeminate homosexuals and transgenders to defend the country too. Not to mention blacks and other groups that don’t even consider themselves American. “Scab of a nation driven insane” indeed.

        • connorhus

My guess is it will be a replay of early Korea with the all Black units except on a massive scale. Once the dam starts to break the new Feminized brass will be too busy at a party to be bother with plugging the holes.

  • Out: The right stuff
    In: The right genitalia

    • connorhus

It says and minorities as usual though. Just like Affirmative action. Once again showing how the political class makes sure to attach the White Female star to the minorities and pit them against White Men.

  • D.B. Cooper

Sorry boys! This is Ukraine’s female military, not ours!

    • Similar pictures are all over the white power blogs and websites. The women are beautiful white women, but really they should be making white babies, not getting themselves killed, although I think I’ve read that they’re excluded from combat.

From my point of view, there’s not a single one in the pic I wouldn’t want to impregnate. Meanwhile, back in the USA, the lezzies are taking over. And no one would want to impregnate them.

      • Joe Liberty

Don’t worry, they wouldn’t want you either!

    • WR_the_realist

I hope the Ukrainians have enough sense to keep those women in off battlefield support roles, so there will be someone left to have children when the current mess is over with.

      • D.B. Cooper

I remember thinking, when I watched that Brad Pitt movie, Fury, how many German women met the same fate as the Emma character (played by a 19 year old authentic German actress). What a waste.

        • David Ashton

Thousands raped by Soviet AND Allied troops at the end of WW2. German women were among the most beautiful, home-loving AND cultured in Europe.

          • 1stworlder

More Germans died in the years after the war than during.

          • David Ashton

Agreed – millions more. I haven’t seen many movies, magazines or museums devoted to that fact, for some reason.

    • John Smith

Ours are mostly dykes and/or mandingas.

    • listenupbub

Gosh, what beautiful women. This is why I fight to preserve the white race.

      • David Ashton

Getting them to fight will not greatly help that preservation. PS -Can we get those lovely legs on GIF or Youtube?

    • Magician

The majority are blondes and light redheads, I notice. And nobody is obese. Around the non-white world, they think American women and Swedish women look like the ones in the photo you posted. But native Swedes tell me that very light blondes are actually rare in Sweden.

In other words, No, they do not look like the girls in the photo I included in this post.

      • InAFreeCountry

Iceland is the new Sweden as far as the blonde chicks go.

    • JohnEngelman

Women have been in the U.S. military for several generations. We used to have the sense to keep them out of combat.

    • As much as I can’t stand you D.B., I can’t help but give an upvote to those legs… damn you!

    • Is this the batallion that fights the Russian separatist? This would explain the abysmal failure of the Ukrainian forces.

Cute girls though. They probably have pity to get them maimed and keep them to serve coffee to the military brass in safe locations. The photographer is a sexist chap!

    • SFLBIB

The only good I ever saw come out of the WAF ranks was one who looked as though she was Natalie Wood in an AF uniform. The guy who recruited her should have been given a medal.

  • WR_the_realist

With diversity the highest priority in today’s American military, I really would hate to see it get tested against the Russians. Be careful what you wish for, neocons.

  • USofAntiWhite

I stopped reading after, “Troubled by a lack of women and minorities at The Air Force’s higher levels…” Just another anti-White government initiative.

  • John Smith

It is the Air Farce after all, so it’s not like most of the jobs are physically demanding beyond PJs and Forward Controllers.

  • USofAntiWhite

The one last thing we have no peers in; military aviation must be marginalized with some anti-White quotas. All part of the Obama tour of anti-White, anti-American exceptionalism at play with your hard-earned tax dollars.

    • Sharps Rifle

They tried that crap in WWII with the Tuskegee trainees. They were a mediocre fighter group, at best, but the PC cretins who spread the lies about the past would have people believe that the 332nd FG single-handedly defeated the Luftwaffe and won WWII in Europe for the United States. These same boors want to apply Affirmative Action to ace status (five kills in aerial combat against piloted aircraft). A pilot named Lee Archer shot down four German aircraft, and with another pilot shared a kill…4 1/2. Archer himself never even took credit for his part in the downing of that aircraft, and always said he only shot down four aircraft, not 4.5. The Air Force was pressured to give Archer full credit for that last aircraft…making Archer the Affirmative Action Ace: In other words, he couldn’t qualify under standards which existed since 1915, so the standards had to be changed. Frankly, I’m one US Air Force veteran who DOESN’T worship at the altar of Tuskegee. They simply weren’t all that good.

  • Sharps Rifle

In other words, my beloved Air Force is going to lower standards and become as PC as the Navy.

Kick those females out! They have ZERO place in a fighting force! They’re a drag on all branches! Oh, wait…that’s what the Kenyan Kreep wants: A weak, feminized, ineffectual United States military…one filled with females, homosexuals, trannies and others who have no business wearing a uniform, and who wouldn’t be willing or able to do what it takes to win a war against a cult of Stone Age savages who are intent on hauling the whole world back into caves!

    • WR_the_realist

Women in the Army have a remarkable ability to get pregnant just before they would otherwise be sent out into combat.

    • ElComadreja

They really think they can win wars with drone strikes.

  • listenupbub

Anything PC is dumb, but worrying about gender issues is not on my radar. This is something that we can figure out after our race and culture is secure. Enmity between white men and women is doing nothing but speed our demise.

Go pretend to be soldiers, women, you’ll learn your place in the military after a little bit of training and cajoling from the guys.

    • Joe Liberty

agreed. Deal with race issues first, gender later.

    • ElComadreja

When they start coming home in body bags or missing limbs the thinking will change.

      • listenupbub

It reminds me of Jared Taylor’s book on affirmative action for female firefighters. They fail a job and do something different in the department.

Women in the military will learn the hard way that their usefulness on the battlefield is very limited by physical weakness and slowness.

  • D.B. Cooper

I guarantee you, if our enemies were anywhere near the likes of what we had to face in WWII: Germany’s Field Marshal (5 star) Erwin “Desert Fox” Rommel and Japan’s Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto (Phd from Harvard, of all places); this Affirmative Action nonsense would end. These two men had seen real, in your face, combat in their careers. What have our flag officer women seen during their careers, a desk in an air conditioned office?
For you ISIS and Taliban supporters reading this, you are a joke, nowhere near the caliber of enemies the Allied powers at least respected.

    • David Ashton

Manstein was tops and had a balanced view of Hitler.

The Axis successes were not due to nannies, trannies or grannies (although Goering was a bit TV).

  • HJ11

Shouldn’t be much of a problem for the Air Force which is the least military of the services. It is a problem for the Marines, though.

    • D.B. Cooper

Even the men have grown soft once they reach the higher ranks. In order to squeeze out a few more years of active duty, they’ll sell out their integrity. Remember Adm. Roughead? He said the Navy’s Number ONE priority was to increase diversity.
So much for the top priority being the safety of this nation, or attracting top recruits.

      • libertarian1234

“Remember Adm. Roughead? He said the Navy’s Number ONE priority was to increase diversity.”

Yes, but he was a bit in the dark regarding priorities, because the number one priority for the Pentagon was to make sure he didn’t doze off too often during the day and to have someone walk him to his auto every night, because he could never remember where it was parked.

  • libertarian1234

You can bet Iran, North Korea, Russia, and China aren’t bogged down with preposterous social engineering projects in their militaries.
With today’s declining military I’m pretty sure the US would be annihilated five times over by just Russia if it comes to a nuclear war, and soundly trounced by all four nations if we have a conventional one in the near future.
In fact, the US wouldn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell in a conventional war against just China or Russia let alone all four at once.
And you could almost take it to the bank that if a conventional war began ISIS and the other jihadists would be running amuk throughout the West, creating a fifth front.
The rest of the world is rapidly catching up militarily.

    • David Ashton

So watch out – there are neo-cons about!

  • exlib93

I fear more effort will be spent on sexual harassment defense than on our country’s defense.

  • dd121

Why a new military federal program? Why not just recruit the best qualified?

  • MBlanc46

Get ready to have to replace a lot of very expensive jet planes.

    • texasoysterman

      Yes. Remember Lt. Hultgreen.

  • LHathaway

19% female is pretty good but this just provides a greater pool and greater number of women who will be sleeping and marrying airmen of color?

19% female is fairly impressive. The garbage collection industry (as well as many other industries) could do well to pay attention so as to see how they can reduce the gender gap. Somehow the gap among garbage collector (as well as several other occupations) has not budged an inch.

  • What about the Air Force helping to wage World War T? Don’t forget, plain ole regular cishet women just aren’t cool anymore, because cishet. Lesbian women aren’t cool anymore, because cis. You have to remember that we are a country of 700,000 really loused up in the head men pretending to be women lording over the other 319,300,000 people. How is the Air Farce (sic) going to combat rampant transphobia?

  • JohnEngelman

The United States Air Force announced new initiatives to recruit and retain more women and minorities, as Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James warned that those who choose to not understand “diversity and inclusion” will not thrive in the service.

    – Elizabeth Harrington, Free Beacon, March 5, 2015

In other words, those who do understand that intelligence and sex differences matter will be coerced to keep their reflections and insights to themselves.

The purpose of the U.S. military is not to provide career opportunities for women and minorities. It is to defend the United States.

If the United States ever has to again fight a war of the magnitude of World War II, the folly of Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James’ attitude will cost the United States lives, battles, and perhaps the outcome of the war.

Most women cannot fight. Most get raped when they are captured by enemy troops.

Many of them are being raped by black drill sergeant’s during basic training.

      • JohnEngelman

In the past their drill sergeants were women. The military is a highly sexually charged environment. That is why boundaries need to be maintained between men and women.

  • WR_the_realist

From the success of Islamic State it is obvious that we failed in Iraq, Syria, and Libya. All of the people who advocated for those wars, in both parties, are still in positions of wealth and influence. So failure is not only an option, it’s now a route to career success.

  • C. Magnus

I am coming into contact with this diversity issue a bit with the job applications I am completing at the moment, not for the armed forces though, just graduate professional jobs, some with large companies (this was the closest Amren article in relevance for my comment).

At the bottom of the ad you sometimes see, we encourage members of X diversity group to apply, we value diversity and equal opportunity, etc. Standard sort of guff.

What does it really mean? We can all make (probably quite accurate) conjecture about it, but I’d be curious to hear testimony from those who have been on the inside of the system, who have maybe worked in HR or high level management of these companies (before becoming race realists (or not, even)). Why do they put it in the ad and on their websites, is it due to external pressures, from government? Or some PR invention?

How does it actually work, are there cases where ‘non diverse’ candidates get flat out passed over, and ‘diverse’ ones get an interview, and job, simply for being of a certain ethnic group or gender, regardless of ability? It would be good to hear first hand testimony, and even better, in the Australian scene because that’s where I live (probably not as bad here as the US in that regard).

Here’s another thing, I attended a careers talk just the other day and one of the speakers admitted that they google the name of whoever applies to their company and see what comes up. The (female) speaker apparently mentioned the word ‘sexist’ in passing, as though that was perhaps something that they screen against in case it offends people. So do be aware of that anyone applying for jobs. Perhaps applying for smaller companies is best, so as to avoid all the PC and spy on you for thought crime BS. But beggars can’t be choosers when there’s not much going and economy is the way it is.

  • The US Airforce will have to order custom made airplanes for women 4′ 10 to 5’3 of height, from 80 lbs to 130 lbs. With servo steering, and ideally with auto pilot. These planes size XJ can not be flown by man over these measures. They will also have a sanitary napkin disposal and a tampon dispenser. .

Nobody over 5’6”will be able to fly these. Additionally they will have to spend $$$ go make protective clothing for cup sizes up to DDDD and keep a stock of them.

  • Hammerheart

I wonder how many more minorities and women are going to try out the combat controller and PJ pipelines? How many more will be heading to flight school?

  • American Tax Payer

If non-whites are “people of color”, then what’s a white person?

    • David Ashton

      A “racist”.

      • American Tax Payer

Any time anyone uses that “color” thing, you gotta interrupt and remind them that White People are a “color” too.
We are not invisible and we did not just drop out of the sky. Our ancestors built this country and this western civilization. It’s ours and we count first here before any non-white does.

        • David Ashton

Good point – applies to us in Europe too.

  • ElComadreja

    An inevitability.
