‘Burn This B**** Down’: The Emotional Reaction of Michael Brown’s Family

Jill Reilly, Daily Mail, November 25, 2014

After spending months appealing for calm, Micheal Brown’s family could not hide their anger last night when it was announced that the grand jury had decided not to charge Officer Darren Wilson.

Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden, stood sobbing and screaming on top of a car with her husband and friends outside Ferguson police department.

She wore a button pinned to her chest that read ‘Indict Now’ and a white hat with a photo of her son which called for ‘Justice for Mike Brown.’

While St. Louis County Prosecutor Robert McCulloch was speaking during a televised statement, McSpadden began to shout out in frustration.

‘Defend himself from what!’ she yelled, when the prosecutor spoke of Officer Darren Wilson, reports the New York Times.

‘They wrong!’ she yelled, pointing toward the police station. ‘You all know, you’re all wrong!’

Although she wore sunglasses, her anger and devastation were clear as tears ran down her face.

‘Everybody wants me to be calm. You know what them bullets did to my son!’

‘They still don’t care!’ she screamed as she threw her arms in frustration. ‘They never going to care!’

She then buried her face in her the chest of the victim’s stepfather, Louis Head, who wore a t-shirt reading: ‘I am Mike Brown.’

He turned around to the incensed crowd and screamed: ‘Burn this b**** down’.

Stepfather

As the roaring crowd began to surge forward, the pair were both whisked away by supporters.

McSpadden had found out the news in a hotel room where she waited with her family and their attorney.

As the announcement time drew closer, McSpadden bowed her head and joined hands with her family, reports USA Today.

‘I know God will prevail. We know it’s in God’s hands,’ she said as she wept.

‘God will have justice no matter what,’ said attorney Benjamin Crump.

It was Crump who took the 7:50p.m. ET call from Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch to relay the grand jury’s decision.

As soon as she heard the news, McSpadden began to scream and cry.

He said McCulloch said he was willing to meet with the family to which McSpadden screamed: ‘I do want to meet with him right now. What do you mean no indictment?!’

Sobbing she ran from the room, with her husband chasing after her.

Crump said the family still has hope that a federal civil rights investigation will hold the officer and the police department accountable.

They will also consider filing a civil wrongful death lawsuit, he said.

‘The family felt the whole process was completely unfair to them,’ he said. ‘Police officers are not held accountable when they kill young people of color.’

The family released a statement immediately after the news via their lawyers which read: ‘We are profoundly disappointed that the killer of our child will not face the consequence of his actions.

‘While we understand that many others share our pain, we ask that you channel your frustration in ways that will make a positive change.

‘We need to work together to fix the system that allowed this to happen.

‘Join with us in our campaign to ensure that every police officer working the streets in this country wears a body camera.

‘We respectfully ask that you please keep your protests peaceful. Answering violence with violence is not the appropriate reaction.

‘Let’s not just make noise, let’s make a difference.’

Ahead of the grand jury decision, Michael Brown’s father released a statement Monday afternoon, which read: ‘After the grand jury’s decision, we are asking for 4 1/2 minutes of silence to remember why we lift our voices.

‘We are not here to be violent. We are here in memory of our son.

‘We are here for protection of all children. We are here to support justice and equality for all people.

‘We lift our voices to ensure black and brown men, women, and children can live in this country without being devalued because of the color of our skin.’

  • Thinking about the events of last night, I think that this was the spark that set it off.

    • Nancy

Which? When they screamed, “Burn this b**** down?”

      • The stepfather yells that. This was the crowd that was initially gathered in front of the Ferguson P.D. building for a peaceful protest. Once he did that, then they started to throw rocks and bricks at the cops. Then came the attempt to overturn cop cars. Then came the burning of two cop cars. Then this gang walks north, setting trash cans on fire, and once they get to the next major intersection, they take out after a Walgreens, a pizza joint and a chicken joint at that corner. Once those fires start, this pretty much gave permission to the homeboys back on the Fergaza Strip, which is along a different drag, to get its own party started.

          How are things tonight, QD?

          • Mostly quiet in St. Louis, but one reporter was carjacked of his Prius on the Fergaza Strip. Seems like tonight, the action is in other cities.

        • Adolf Verloc

I’ll bet the pharmacy at the Walgreen’s was a rich source of party refreshments. Hopefully, we’ll have a bunch of OD cases in the next few days.

        • Earl P. Holt III

One well-aimed shot would have dispersed the crowd in seconds…

          • Well the cops did use tear gas, and the crowd did disperse. But they dispersed to do looting and burning.

Last night, it very well could have happened again, and a lot of the events of last night were Groundhog Day repeats of the first night. But the big difference is that the cops and the NG were heavily stationed at key points to keep the dispersing crowds from having the run of the joint in the surrounding areas.

    • phorning

I don’t know how much it mattered, but he should be charged with inciting a riot.

      • B.A_2014

He probably will have a holiday named after him in a decade or two.

  • DaveMed

Sufficiently eloquent to be a rap “artist.”

All crocodile tears, of course. They stand to make a decent packet of money from their up-and-coming career in professional victimhood.

    • superlloyd

Ebonics is not eloquence and rap is cRap.

  • dd121

And Holder came on saying how wonderful this guy was for trying to calm the situation. Has he been arrested for inciting a riot yet?

    • See The Future

Smug Holder is really enjoying this!

    • Charles Martel

A different guy. This was Louis Head, the current consort of Lesly McSpadden, Mike Brown’s biological mother. His biological father, Mike Brown’s, Sr, was the one appealing for calm

      You need a scorecard sometimes!

  • Frank_DeScushin

This family is the epitome of why all other races hold blacks in low regard. Felonies, inter-family attacks, inciting riots. Yet we are told it’s racist to think less of them than any other family. The Powers-That-Be who want to reinforce white guilt may have picked the worst possible family to do so.

Then again, I’m of the belief that the black agitators intentionally pick losers and divisive cases. They want to lose so the can have an example of “How racist the justice system continues to be.” And they want thug-like families that elicit a negative response from white America as proof of white racism. An open-and-shut case of a white defendant as guilty or an upstanding black family who would elicit no negative response from white America serves no purpose to the black agitators. They promote losers to say, “We lost. Look how much more work we have to do for the struggle?”

    • Dr.Bazzi

And this fool has the audacity to invoke God as being with him. I suggest that he read the 10 commandments and see what God thinks of his actions and that of the thug Michael Brown.
Perhaps he means the god of his world , Satan.

  • superlloyd

The Father is a convicted criminal and should be prosecuted for inciting a riot. The mother is a bad tempered woman with a penchant for inter family violence conducted in the street. A low IQ, dysfunctional family of felons and would be felons produces a criminal thug as a son. What a surprise!

  • Usually Much Calmer

I’m sure many of you react to this story by thinking that Brown’s mother had a meltdown and lacks self awareness and perhaps even embarrassed herself.

But I don’t. Sure, she appears foolish by my standards and her grammar is atrocious. But I see tremendous restraint in her presentation of anger and I think she knows she can use this out outcome to demand (or someone else on her ‘team’ such as Sharpton) more of the kind of ‘social change’ with which we are all too familiar.

The family’s statement reads, “We need to work together to fix the
system that allowed this to happen.” They refer to the rule of law. The aim to do away with civil society as we know it.

And yet only yesterday, I read here that Rasmussen polls show only 23%
of Americans of all races are drinking kool aide from the same cup.

It really is time we stop being politely indulgent with ‘the community’ and with our own hive mind friends and relatives. I don’t know what exactly we are waiting for.

    • Charles Martel

You are more charitable than I! I think she was purposefully put on prominent display knowing she would “act out” for the assembled TV cameras. This will be Exhibit A at her civil trial. “Look how his poor mother has suffered!””

  • JohnEngelman

Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden, stood sobbing and screaming on top of a car

    – Jill Reilly, Daily Mail, November 25, 2014

What would she have done if her son had been killed by another black ghetto thug? That is how those people usually get killed.

    • Luca

If her son had been shot by another black, there would be no media circus, no blaming racism and no one to sue.

    • Whitetrashgang

Smoke a few rocks of crack given to her by the killer.

      • JohnEngelman

Those people create their own problems. Then they pretend that the only thing that holds them down is white racism.

  • [Guest]

You know, it’s almost as if these people do not belong in a country founded and built by white people and should live on a far-away continent.

  • B.A_2014

In a strange way, I rather like the gentle giant’s stepfather. That is real fire and passion and a love for his own. Yes he is encouraging violence and destruction but within his own community so more the fool him.

    • Who Me?

A real MAN marries the mother of his son, and he teaches that son to become a man in his turn, and not to rob stores, use illegal drugs, assault convenience store clerks, and grapple with armed policemen. This person did none of those things. To me that proves he DIDN’T love his son, and a lot of the blame for his son’s death lands squarely at his doorstep.

      • BlueSonicStreak

Absolutely. I want to ask these people why they blame the white “system” when they could have instead raised their son not to rob people and charge armed police officers.

        • Charles Martel

You mean “act white”?? Perish the thought!!

  • Bon, From the Land of Babble

But, but, but….according to Obama, Brown’s parents called for calm and peaceful protests and no violence.

Obama would never lie to us.

Brown family attorney said on Fox that statement was born out of flustration.

Yeah, burn it down you dumb *****.

  • Conrad

‘We lift our voices to ensure black and brown men, women, and children can live in this country without being devalued because of the color of our skin.’
MB was not shot because of color. He was shot because he was a criminal in the act of committing a crime. Blacks seem to have a very hard time understanding that.

  • 48224

Now we know where Michael Brown got his bad attitude from!

  • A Freespeechzone

Make NO mistake, these negroes demand the right, without provocation, to attack, rob, rape and kill Whites and no other else.

Barack Obama, Holder, the media and many negroes–and self-loathing liberal Whites endorse this out in the open.

Failure to stop this will bring a violent race war.

    • MannyR

The best post so far, that’s exactly what this is about, blacks want free reign to victimize everyone and if you stand up for yourself your racist. BS! We don’t stand up to now 100 Knoxville horrors will be perpetrated in the future. Conceal carry and don’t be afraid to defend yourself.

  • kikz2

um.. i know it’s probably been said, but incitement to riot is a crime.. most probably he could be charged under the patRIOT Acts I and or II.

  • Lygeia

“Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden, stood sobbing and screaming on top of a car…”

    So dignified.

If they are married why don’t they have the same last name? I smell b/s.

    • LIBERTYSINCURSION

Well just think, race baiting CNN host Don Lemon saying “I’m here with Michael Brown’s Mother’s current boyfriend Louis Head” doesn’t sound as good as him saying “I’m here with Michael Brown’s Step Father Louis Head”. It sounds better, and since race baiting is all about the perception of reality, rather than reality itself. Michael Brown’s Mother’s current boyfriend becomes Michael Brown’s Step Father by nothing more than media decree.

      • Charles Martel

Mike Brown was not even living with her. He had been kicked out when Louis Head came back from prison. At the time of his death, he was bouncing between his grandmother’s house and a friend’s place.

I sense a profit motive in her tears and the lawyers’ efforts to portray them as an intact family. Note that she and Mike Brown Sr. went to Geneva to speak to the UN.

  • Adolf Verloc

“‘Burn this b**** down’.” But buy one of these tee shirts first.

  • Juggernaut3000

    Brown family: Where’s our money?

The family is upset that they didn’t win the ghetto lottery. Now, they’ll have to settle for what they can get from t-shirt sales.

    • Ike Eichenberg

I would be shocked if they didn’t get at least a million from the city even without an indictment.
Traythug’s parents did from the judicial extortion against the home owners association.

  • RacialRay

Ever seen black women at a funeral? They whoop and holler, fall on their knees, wail like banshees and climb into the coffin. All great theater. They don’t even have to know the deceased personally. This is all I could think of when I saw the “righteous indignation” erupt on the streets of Ferguson last night.

    • MannyR

Blacks are very much about theatrics and image,as are most people with little to add to society. It’s all about being seen and getting attention no matter what

On another note what’s with blacks and their “fashion trend” of leaving the price tags and manufacturer stickers on their hats?

Seeing St. Swisher in his cap and gown serves to remind me of the Diversity Diplomas that are handed out like tissue paper to negroes who manage to reach the grand old age of 18 without getting arrested or dead.

“Burn this B*** down” LMAO! I wonder who paid for the hotel room.

  • MannyR

Every member of that god awful family that’s been running their mouthes on camera should be arrested and charged with incitement to riot. These people aren’t worth listening to, they need to be controlled with brutal force.

  • LIBERTYSINCURSION

When racist black rioters burn a fellow black man’s church down, which happened to be the same church that Michael Brown’s biological ( Baby Daddy ) Father attended. Just who exactly does the church’s “Pastor” blame? That’s right, he blames you, Whitey, yet again!

  • Earl P. Holt III

Pretty clear from whence the “Gentle Giant’s” violent proclivities come…

  • mattj458

I like the graduation t-shirt. I guess it is a big accomplishment in some circles.

  • Speedy Steve

‘I know God will prevail. We know it’s in God’s hands,’ she said as she wept. So God didn’t do what they wanted and they burnt the bitch (?) down.

‘We lift our voices to ensure black and brown men, women, and children
can live in this country without being devalued because of the color of
    our skin.’ Damned ignant wayciss’

  • Speedy Steve

I don’t feel bad that the dysfunctional Brown family lost a child. It’s survival of the fittest in the urban jungle. Being stoned enough to hallucinate and attacking a policeman are not the right stuff to make it in this world. The coddling and enabling need to be defunded.

  • Mybad

Really? I thought the stepdad pleaded for peace? My bad. I was wrong. He pleaded for burning the town down. Imagine that!-)

  • Charles Martel

The objective of the looting was not to display frustration with the GJ but to get free goodies: junk food, liquor, etc.

  • Douglas Quaid

What I really want to see is an interview with that little Asian shopkeeper that the adipose Gentle Giant robbed. I wonder if he like Brown was targeted because he was black.

  • Who Me?

He said McCulloch said he was willing to meet with the family to which McSpadden screamed: ‘I do want to meet with him right now. What do you mean no indictment?!’
    —————————-
Now she’s saying that nobody in the city government reached out to them, not the mayor or anybody. Well, what the hell does she want? Congratulations for raising a criminal thug? Why in the world would anybody need to reach out to her? They offered and she said she didn’t want to talk to them. What makes her think she’s entitled to anything other than maybe a bill for his food (considerable I’m sure, from the looks of him) housing and his doubtful education, all of which I’m sure were provided at taxpayer expense.

  • Screamin_Ruffed_Grouse

Really? Have at it bro. Burn down your own home. That’ll really show us.

I’m not one who relishes the idea of blacks expanding their various riots into whiter turf and forcing us into a shootout with them (when I was young, single and childless, that idea held greater emotional appeal). But I do suspect that one day they’ll find themselves unable to get what they want simply by trashing their own neighborhoods and start aiming at ours.

This will of course prove catastrophic for them. They really have no idea how well armed so much of White society really is. Duck guns and deer guns work just fine as rioter guns and looter guns. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
