Polio-like Illness Claims Fifth Life in U.S.

Sharyl Attkisson, October 9, 2014

At least five children infected with the respiratory illness known enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) have died in the U.S. in the past month.

The lastest confirmed victim was a four-year-old New Jersey boy, Eli Waller. He died at home on September 25. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) confirmed the cause of death Friday night. But health officials say they have no idea how he contracted the virus. A health official says Eli was “asymptomatic and fine” when he went to bed but died overnight. He had no known preexisting immune weakness.

A 10-year girl Rhode Island girl infected with EV-D68, Emily Otrando, died less than 24 hours after being rushed to the hospital with breathing problems. Three other patients with EV-D68 also died in September.

The CDC reports that in the past month and a half, at least 538 people in 43 states and the District of Columbia have become ill with EV-D68. Most of them are children and some developed limb paralysis. Polio, which can cause paralysis and death, is a type of enterovirus. EV-D68 is one of more than a hundred “non-polio” enteroviruses.

The actual number of EV-D68 infections is likely significantly higher than reported since some state health officials are not testing every suspected case.

The CDC hasn’t suggested reasons for the current uptick or its origin. Without that answer, some question whether the disease is being spread by the presence of tens of thousands of illegal immigrant children from Central America admitted to the U.S. in the past year.

The origin could be entirely unrelated.

However, a study published in Virology Journal, found EV-D68 among some of the 3,375 young, ill people tested in eight Latin American countries, including the Central American nations of El Salvador and Nicaragua, in 2013.  (See Fig. 3)

Though the U.S. government is keeping secret the locations of the illegal immigrant children, there are significant numbers of them in both cities in which the current outbreak was first identified, Kansas City, Missouri and Chicago, Illinois, according to local advocates and press reports.

An enterovirus is a positive-sense (“plus-strand”) RNA (ribonucleic acid) virus. Other diseases caused by RNA viruses include Ebola, SARS, polio and measles.

According to CDC, there are no available vaccines, antiviral medications or specific treatments for EV-D68. Most cases are mild.

Our evil government has imported diseased Central American Indians carrying diseases that White American children have no immunity to. Basically our government has said White children must die so Honduran children can live.

    • Oil Can Harry

And our elites are also letting Africans with Ebola and AIDS invade our land.

What will they do for an encore?

      • Usually Much Calmer

An appeals court in New York heard yesterday a case which may grant ‘legal personhood’ to chimpanzees and other ‘higher order animals’.

        • 1stworlder

Well at least they are smarter than blacks. Coco the gorilla has an IQ of 78

          • Usually Much Calmer

And a medical degree from Howard?

        • LaughsAtHumans

I’d rather the chimpanzees than the low-life humans. Chimps have shown that they can be taught to be civilized.

          • JVisconti

those blacks and Pakis may feel the same about you, my brother.

    • Bossman

If that is the case, why are there many cases in many provinces across Canada? Did the virus hop on a plane to Canada as soon as it got to the USA?

      • OS-Q

Yes. Viruses travel on people – people travel on planes. Don’t Americans often go to Canada for their health care anyway?

      • corvinus

Maybe it’s going around Asia too.

      • Ron Cheaters

Canada is bringing in a lot, A-Lot, of gay Brazilian men. I don’t know why, and I can only confirm it by what I see. not by stats.

        • Bossman

Maybe those Brazilian men are only pretending to be gay. As I understand it, one way for a Third-Worlder to enter the USA and Canada is to pretend to be gay and then seek refuge from life threatening violence from the home country.

          • LaughsAtHumans

It’s possible. Some will do anything to game the system.

Hell, I was once present when two old fundamentalist Christian men were joking about engaging in gay marriage, for the financial/tax benefits. Then they could also leave their stuff to each other rather than to their worthless middle-age kids (one was a crack dealer who thought the prison had a revolving door on it). Oh, these men were in their 90s. It was hilarious, and I got their point completely.

        • JVisconti

are you saying you ‘see’ a lot of Brazilian gay men on a daily basis or are you some kind of border guard who can just tell who is a little swishy. big difference.

    • RebelliousTreecko

The left calls us paranoid and racist for worrying about immigrants bringing third-world diseases one moment, then bemoans Whites bringing Smallpox to the Amerindian tribes the next.

      • IstvanIN

Execellent point, but the “libs” would say the four year old blond, white boy who died here in NJ was payback for the smallpox. They are that sick.

    • archer

Isn’t that in fact a sort of “bio terrorism”, being carried out by our own government?

  • disqus_Xz3UA6obwj

I much more prefer the benefits of no diversity.

  • Sue

Now my friends, I can’t help but wonder if some of this isn’t a cover for something else:
    Flu vaccines:

First, let’s start with the indisputable facts: the seasonal flu
vaccine causes Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). Just read the package
insert of any commercially available flu vaccine. The manufacturers and
government health officials concede this fact. If you go to an emergency
room with sudden onset of GBS symptoms, the first question the doctors
will ask you is: “Did you recently get the flu shot?”

The only thing that is disputed is: how many people does it affect?

The government’s official response is that the flu vaccination causes
two cases of GBS per one million doses. From what I can tell, the
rationale for those numbers mainly comes from here, and here. Most flu vaccine manufacturers’ packet inserts, however, are still listing the old numbers at one out of one million.
Please google flu shots causing Guillain-Barre

    • LaughsAtHumans

Better the small risk from vaccines, than the large risk of epidemics.

I think I was one of the last kids to get some sort of polio vaccination if it went on into the late 1960s. I hope so, anyway, though I lack the little tell-tale arm scar my mom has.

      • Who Me?

The little round scar was from smallpox vaccination. Polio vaccine is some pink liquid poured onto a sugar cube and fed to the baby. My daughter, born in 1976, was given it. My son, born in 1982, wasn’t.

        • LaughsAtHumans

I was born in 1968, and I remember our school providing inoculations at various ages/grades. However, I do know the sugar cube method was just one vaccine, but there was another type administered by needle.

I’m pretty sure I got the whole old-school round of shots and boosters, though – although I did have mild chicken pox when I was 13 or 14 and was later diagnosed as once having German measles, which I know I had been vaccinated for (I suspect the “chicken pox” was actually just a bad case of Rubella now).

          • Who Me?

Most of us did have chicken pox as kids because the vaccine for it only became generally available around 1998-2000 or thereabouts (not exact).

      • Sue

95% of people infected with polio never show symptoms and never know
they’ve had it, and they recover from it on their own. Only five percent
show symptoms, usually flu-like, and most of them recover on their own,
too. Only one percent of infected persons develop paralysis. About a
third of them recover, sometimes with lingering problems. A handful are
seriously paralyzed for life less than 1%.
You’re talking about the smallpox vaccine as the poster below explains.

        • LaughsAtHumans

Oh, well, I do hope I had both inoculations.

I get the flu vaccination every year, have done for a while now, though I absolutely detest needles. However, there is a new vaccine that is a liquid you can snort up your nose – it was approved for adults here about two years ago.

I find it effective, and never had any side effects that I can tell. I haven’t had the flu in .. I can’t remember how long, but when I was a kid, I was a victim of “Christmas flu” every damn year, to the point that I avoided malls and other crowded places for almost two decades.

I don’t really like snorting anything up my nose either; but it’s better than a damn shot. Now, if they’d only come up with a form of it that I could smoke, I’d be be happy.

          • Sue

I’ve never had the flu nor has any of my family. The people that I know that took the flu shot got a nasty something afterward. Call it what you like it;s not worth it to me.

I respect your wishes as to inoculations. As for me and mine, we pass.

Check out the pic from Sharyl’s story. It’s labelled, “a lab tech studies an enterovirus.”

      • phillyguy

        it looks like she stumped

      • Periapsis

You cannot see viruses through a light microscope, they top out at about 1,500X. In order to see a virus, electron microscopes are required and they can magnify to 1,000,000X or more with magnetically focused beams of electrons in a vacuum chamber. All she would see is the destruction of or damage to human cells through the microscope she’s peering into.

The CDC hasn’t suggested reasons for the current uptick or its origin

The CDC knows the origin; they know it comes from illegals.

Remember this from way back in July?

    July 2, 2014:

A government-contracted security force threatened to arrest doctors and nurses if they divulged any information about the contagion threat at a refugee camp housing illegal alien children at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, sources say.

She said children in the camp had measles, scabies, chicken pox and strep throat as well as mental and emotional issues.

They want this polio-like virus and ebola here.

    There is no other explanation.

And the GOP are too spineless to say or do anything about it.

Good thing there is no such thing as a government conspiracy, otherwise I might be worried.

    • JohnEngelman

They want this polio-like virus and ebola here.

      – Bon, From the Land of Babble

No “they” don’t. “They” feel a genuine concern for poor people who are immigrating illegally to the United States. I lack their concern, but I recognize it.

      • Bon, From the Land of Babble

They, like you, support the genocide of the White Race.

        • JohnEngelman

          Hatred has twisted your mind.

          • Bon, From the Land of Babble

Great, an ad hominem from a known anti-White troll.

How original. It’s been several minutes since I’ve read one of those.

            I don’t listen to anti-Whites like you.

          • JohnEngelman

You not only listen to me respond in ways that confirm my earlier statement.

  • JP Rushton

“Though the U.S. government is keeping secret the locations of the illegal immigrant children”

They are doing this so that we can’t protest them being here. This is how disgusting the US government is today. They know what they are doing is wrong and that the people don’t like it, so they are doing whatever they can to keep us from doing anything about it.

    • Usually Much Calmer

I called my [string of swear words] congressman earlier this week about restricting travel from Ebola stricken countries.

I get the feeling I’m the only one, though. We get what we settle for.

      • willbest

I don’t even bother. My moderately conservative town is gerrymandered to hell with some vibrants from Chicago, a college town, and a tribe enclave. It works well for the tribe, who have had one of theirs in the seat for 65 years now.

I do fire off nasty letters to Durbin and Kirk a few times a year though.

  • dd121

The msm doesn’t exactly trumpet the notion that D68 was imported when Obama brought all these illegal children in. The blood is on Obama’s hands.

    • Bon, From the Land of Babble

Paralyzing polio and ebola do not compare with the crime of racism.

Nothing to worry about, according to the CDC, this one is nearly impossible to catch, just like ebola.

      • dd121

Sorry, had a temporary brain fart, but you’re right.

    • Valmont

“Fairness” dictates that we redistribute our money to vibrants and Third Worlders, while they in turn redistribute their dysfunction and diseases to us.

  • willbest

I made the mistake of joking about this early today and my wife flipped out on me. I hadn’t realize how serious it was. My wife is more scared of this than Ebola.

    • corvinus

Polio is downright creepy, if you think about it. You’d be getting a cold that can paralyze you. At least most of us seem to be too old to worry about it, unless we have close family members who are young children…

      • willbest

yeah that is why she flipped out on me, we have 3 kids under 10.

      • Periapsis

Indeed, my mother remembers children being put in Iron Lungs to keep them alive. Worse, the paralysis and muscle wasting caused by Polio is permanent, without a cure. I hope whoever’s behind these children being allowed in to infect us with this damnable disease and others meets a horrific fate at our hands. I am reaching the point where I can justify the use of weaponry I once thought should never be used for any reason against THEM.

  • ViktorNN

I really don’t think we should say this disease is coming from the illegal kids from Central America until we’re sure it actually is. It just makes us look bad if we say it without proof.

The thing is, it’s very possible that the truth is being suppressed and might never be revealed – that’s how important it is to those in power to keep the borders open.

They know that if it comes out that this disease IS from the current wave of illegals, their precious amnesty will be DEAD.

  • wretchedwhiterabbit

  • superlloyd

Polio was almost eradicated globally a while back but then recalcitrant, backward countries in the muslim middle east and Asia enabled it to return. I don’t know whether this applies to the hispanics’ countries of origins.

  • Who Me?

Polio claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of children between 1900 and 1955, and handicapped thousands more in varying degrees, from paralysis to having to spend their lives in “iron lungs” that breathed for them. When a vaccine was developed for the dreadful disease, it was considered a Godsend to all those parents. Polio was completely eradicated in the United States and most other first-world countries. There are plenty of children whose parents have been told that this vaccine is totally unnecessary now, so they have no immunity to it. Letting children in from filthy countries, carrying this disease that could develop into huge outbreaks again maiming and killing innocent American kids is unconscionable, and the leaders who are letting this happen should be strung up. HOW DARE THEY?!?

  • Sue

Thank you much for this. I will pass it on.

  • OS-Q

I’d guess somebody’s sock puppet, I don’t really have a problem with it since we need people to bounce ideas around with anyway. Think of him as a training dummy.
