Black Leaders Worry About Low Turnout in November

ABC News, July 23, 2014

Civil rights leaders at the NAACP annual convention in Las Vegas on Tuesday worried that dwindling African-American turnout in November could lead to the expansion of voter-identification laws that make it harder for that community to vote in subsequent contests.

In 2012, blacks turned out at a higher rate than whites for what is believed to be the first time in American history and helped re-elect President Obama. But in the prior midterm election, in 2010, blacks turned out at a much lower rate, and Republicans won control of the House of Representatives and many state and local offices.

Jotaka Eaddy, the NAACP’s voting rights director, told a panel on black turnout and voter suppression that “as a result we saw a wave of voter-suppression laws.” Eaddy said 22 states passed laws stiffening requirements on the identification needed to vote, a move that disproportionately affects poor and minority voters.

One way blacks have been motivated is by warnings of Republican attempts to limit their ability to vote. Republicans say they are only trying to stamp out voter fraud, but Democrats have highlighted the efforts to mobilize black voters. That effort continued Tuesday as speakers noted that the upcoming election will occur as the Voting Rights Act has, in their view, been gutted by a 2013 U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

Just an FYI – You needed ID to get into the NAACP ‘Hate Whitey Fest.’

      Isn’t hypocrisy great ?

        Excuses are even more greater.

You also need a credit card if you want to eat out here in the Bronx.

The restaurants and fast food joints have signs saying they can’t accept anything higher than $20 bills because of the counterfeit bills their “diverse, vibrant” customers of color keep passing them.

      • We had some dimwit at Subway 10 years ago try to tell me that I had to accept his C-note as payment for lunch for himself and his girlfriend. I explained that I had enough money in the register to give him about $20 in change, which would mean he was buying an $80 lunch. His girlfriend paid. I didn’t care whether his hun was genuine or not; we weren’t there to make change for big bills; we were there to make sandwiches.

From the article: ” Civil rights leaders at the “NAACP annual convention in Las Vegas on Tuesday worried that dwindling African-American turnout in November could lead to the expansion of voter-identification laws that make it harder for that community to vote in subsequent contests.”

Make it harder to vote ? They mean making it hard to commit voting fraud !

I guess that they really don’t care about integrity, honesty, etc.

But, when they lack the “content of character” that MLK spoke about…

  • One way blacks have been motivated is by warnings of Republican attempts to limit their ability to vote.

What that means is that far left paranoia and agitprop about photo ID to vote being emblematic of some vast conspiracy that ends in disenfranchisement is stirring up turnout of elderly black women, who were alive during the civil rights movement. When in reality, photo ID to vote alone will preclude very little voter fraud nor disenfranchise much of anyone if anyone.

  • Candidate A gets 1,000,000 legitimate votes. Candidate B gets 999,999 legitimate votes. Someone “finds” two extra votes for Candidate B.

Fraudulent votes were 0.0001% of all votes counted. So you’re right, voter fraud IS statistically negligible.

  • TruthBeTold

Of course black voter turn out will be lower. They won’t be able to vote black.

    • Pro_Whitey

And the Democrats know better than to rally the welfare queen vote more than once every four years. Doing it more than that makes ’em ornery.

      • bilderbuster

And ornery welfare queens don’t get knocked up as often either.

  • Luca

Murder is statistically negligible too, and when safeguards are not in place the chances of it happening become much higher.

Actually Republicans want black people to vote for republican candidates. Unfortunately, black conservative candidates are vilified and are victims of extreme racism by blacks and liberals whenever they try to speak to a black audience about conservative values.

If anyone wanted to suppress the black vote they would use IQ requirements, that would keep them out in droves. Better yet, they would broadcast classical music at the polling places.

People need an ID to register to vote, so why the problem at the polls? Most states and voter ID laws allow free ID’s anyway so where is the inconvenience?

Perhaps you have never heard of fixed elections, Identity theft or phony ID’s but believe it or not, it is a real problem.

    • willbest

I personally don’t have a problem with low IQ people voting. I would prefer a situation where if you can’t produce a 1040 with a positive number on it, in the taxes paid line you can’t vote.

      • chuck_2014

Every citizen has the right to vote even the low IQ people…but do they know what voting really means?

  • When the choice is usually between tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum, who cares? Few Republican candidates would openly espouse my patriotic and racial views. Most of them are controlled oppostition, financed by the globalist open borders crowd. When Republicans openly start doing things to benefit whites, then I’ll care.

  • Einsatzgrenadier

Ideally, only white male property owners should be allowed to vote. They should also bring back the poll tax and literacy tests.

  • willbest

You would have a point except, voter fraud got you Obamacare courtesy of Al Franken.

    • Luca

Voter fraud got you Al Franken as well.

      • jane johnson

        Thad Cochran in Mississippi.

  • Michigan Patriot

Nothing compared to what the anti-American communists did to the white-Euro- Christian by diversity of electing a new people by the treasonous ,genocidal pogrom named the 1965 Immigration & Reform Act. Our population has gone from 87 % to 61 %; now , that is voter suppression ! A revolution is definately needed to restore representative democracy again !

  • jane johnson

They don’t want to be ID’d by the police if they’re stopped. They’ll give the names of friends, family members, or just make something up, if they’re pulled over and have a suspended license, no insurance, warrants, or whatever. Chris McDaniel of MS knows that voter fraud is alive and well.

  • Paleoconn

Their turnout is already very low, but the crooks fill out ballots for them. Vote early and vote often has become stay at home and we’ll vote for you.

  • Rhialto

On the other side, I’m sure the Repub managers are worried about White non-Liberals who will not vote Republican. They have arrived at the logical conclusion that the Repubs are only interested in winning elections, and then helping their rich money bag angels get even richer. Some will stay home; some will vote for minor parties (I usually vote Constitutional); some may spite vote for the Dems.

  • propagandaoftruth

So…the states that require this onerous barrier…provide provisions for free ID for the poor.

I guess the biggest barrier becomes glomming a ride and filling out forms. Is that a poll tax?

    • Wholly Unconvinced

Anything that requires blacks to do anything requiring effort, or remotely resembling work is an “oppression tax” So, I suppose you could call that a poll tax in this situation.

They certainly have no problems going to pick up their Obama phones, EBT cards, rap concerts or the latest bantu footwear.

  • james AZ

93% of black voters for OBAMA will not vote in 2016 because there no black persons will run for president of USA.

  • Wholly Unconvinced

I see you’re dropping the “sensible mulatto” charade and letting your true color come out. About time I say, but what prompted it? Recent major life change? Finally realize the majority here weren’t buying it? Just somewhat curious.

Everyone with any common sense knows why blacks don’t get (or rather carry) identification. It’s because they’re criminals, and have a rather tenuous grasp on reality. They think that if they aren’t carrying ID, that when they get picked up by the cops after committing a crime they are magically anonymous, and therefore will be impervious to prosecution.

This is, of course, ridiculous, but it’s also true (a recurring theme with blacks).

About your “poll tax” I seem to recall that being a non issue, as free ID’s would be provided in the event you did not have one, or could not afford one, given that ID’s cost so many hundreds or thousands of dollars these days, I can understand how the poor, downtrodden, oppressed, discriminated against blacks would have a hard time affording them… Oh wait, no, only fake ID’s cost that much, and D’shawntayTrevious D’Quan Washington probably already has a few of those laying around anyway.

Black people DO vote Democrat though, so already your post contains a snippet of truth vs. PC gobbledygook.

Voter fraud is real, as is obvious by the many instances of kingbama receiving over 100% of the vote in several areas around the country, unless that was just some sort of magical occurance. Not to mention deceased voters, and animals who vote.

Guess what could stop voter fraud?… requiring voter ID!

But you’re probably right… them rayciss repubs are just trying to keep your peeps down!

  • mike smith

NAACP…. no black leaders for first SIXTY years. JEWS run it! Jared Taylor is a semi-truth disinformationalist, obfuscationer who makes you folks here look at black and brown when it is really a White-ish rat faced, hook-nosed JEW behind it all! Jared, SHAME on you!

or end up like David Duke who was too direct.

What the blacks/dimorats are really worried about is not allowing dead people, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, multiple voting by the same person, etc. to “vote”.

  • LHathaway

I wonder if this article is meant to insult black readers intelligence. Then I snicker and wonder how dumb I would have to be to believe this. THIS is their big civil right issue, worry over efforts to ‘limit’ the black vote by requiring ID and registration. If ‘republicans’ are being defrauded I guess that’s not an issue of any kind. . . .

If worry about voter ID is such a political issue, why not get out in front on this and concentrate on getting constituents an ID? If motor-registration laws are not enough. . . what would be required?

  • benvad

If they can’t vote or hispanics then I say GREAT! Enough problems with idiot white leftists screwing the country, do whatever can be done to prevent the apocalypse.

That is absolute nonsense and you know it. There are many examples on record of dead people in Chicago having voted in recent elections. A county nearby where I live is being investigated because they had more people vote in a recent election than actually live there.

  • Cid Campeador

“LEADERS” That’s a one word obscene joke.
Then there’s Joe “They’ll put you back in chains” Biden. He’s another obscenity.

  • Dave West

During the 2012 elections I stood in line for 2 1/2 hours behind a group of black people, I feel dumber from having to listen to their “discussions” on Obama and the American political system. I say bring back civil literacy tests! No democracy, other than America in the last 50 years, in the history of the world has ever been dumb enough to let the un-educated and un-informed masses to vote. Is it too much to ask that people voting in this country at least know what the constitution is or what a congressmen is?
