Two Drug Tunnels, with Rail Systems, Found at U.S.-Mexico Border

Dan Whitcomb, Yahoo! News, April 4, 2014

U.S. federal agents have uncovered two drug-smuggling tunnels underneath the U.S.-Mexico border, both surfacing in San Diego-area warehouses and equipped with rail systems for moving contraband, officials said on Friday.

The discovery led to the arrest of a 73-year-old woman accused of running one of the warehouses connected to a drug smuggling operation, according to a joint news release by four federal agencies.

Federal law enforcement officials said the first tunnel, which connects a warehouse in Tijuana, Mexico, with one in an industrial park in the border community of Otay Mesa, is about 600 yards long and is furnished with lighting, a crude rail system and wooden trusses.

The passageway is accessed via a 70-foot shaft secured by a cement cover and includes a pulley system on the U.S. side apparently intended to hoist contraband up into the warehouse.

The two tunnels are the sixth and seventh cross-border passageways discovered in the San Diego area in less than four years, according to the task force.

Since 2006, federal authorities have detected at least 80 cross-border smuggling tunnels, most of them in California and Arizona, and seized some 100 tons of narcotics associated with them.

  • The Mexican drug cartels must have some pretty good civil engineers.

By contrast, the Big Dig in Boston, all $14 billion of her, started leaking not long after it was finished and opened.

The ‘…Big Dig…’ didn’t help the union image very much.
It was a giant sucking sound of AA and union corruption.

  • Luca

Apparently Mexicans have a hard time with building roads, bridges and office buildings. But give them a chance to invade the US and make some drug money and they become civil engineers real quick.

  • NoMosqueHere

Is there a Taco Bell down there too?

  • mobilebay

Mexicans excel at any task that requires a criminal mindset.

  • Robert Kelley

More evidence that the War on Drugs is insane, pumping billions of dollars into the cartels while having no effect on the availability of narcotics in the US.

  • Fed Up

Damn! Sounds like drug smuggling must really be a very profitable business venture.

  • Einsatzgrenadier

If the entire population of Mexico immigrated to the US, would the US be even more prosperous than it is now? Immigration enthusiasts and multicultural extremists would have you believe that America is racing into the Space Age with every new mestizo that swims across the Rio Grande.

    • Who Me?

Or, tunnels beneath it, according to this article. If there are “100 of tons of drugs” going through the tunnels, just how many illegal aliens do you think are coming through?

  • MBlanc46

They can stop the weed getting into the US, but they don’t seem to be able to stop the Mexicans from getting into the US.

    • Greg Thomas

As you know MBlanc, it’s because they are not trying very hard.

  • More natural conservatives, GOP?

  • AndrewInterrupted

One poster over at the Yahoo! article said the Obama Administration calls these:

    “…Voter tunnels…”

  • mobilebay

I never hear what happens to these tunnels. My suggestion is a load of dynamite thrown into the opening, or perhaps a ton of wet concrete left to harden. Another thing I never hear is anyone in Washington taking to the airwaves and telling Mexico to back off or all funding will stop. We finance our own destruction.

These tunnels are similar in scale to the ones the North Koreans used to build along the DMZ to be used during a military invasion. We can project military force across the entire planet but seemingly can’t deploy along our own border. We are under the control of globalist traitors who are doing everything in their power to destroy the historic white American nation state.

    • Unfortunately, illegal narcotics are much more compact than main battle tanks, so these tunnels need not be as large, sophisticated, or as well-ventilated and constructed as the Korean versions.

  • Paleoconn

If this continues, the Americans will be digging similar tunnels into Canada.

In fact, Americans should be going that way now. It is still 80+% White as far as I know, and Americans coming in will better those stats.

    • IstvanIN

      Canada doesn’t want Whites.
