Third-Ranking House Republican Backs Legal Status for Immigrants

Russell Berman, The Hill, January 22, 2014

The third-ranking House Republican, Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), said he backs granting legal status, but not a new pathway to citizenship, to millions of immigrants in the U.S. illegally.

McCarthy stated his personal view on the contentious issue in an interview with KBAK/KBFX Eyewitness News in his hometown of Bakersfield, Calif. He signaled that the call for a provisional legal status would be included in the immigration reform principles House Republican leaders are soon to release.

“The principles aren’t written yet, but in my personal belief, I think it’ll go with legal status that will allow you to work and pay taxes,” McCarthy said.

McCarthy made clear he did not favor carving out a new path to citizenship for the estimated 11 million people in the country illegally. But his position appears to comport with the views of other senior Republicans who have called for illegal immigrants to have access to the existing route to citizenship once they receive an initial legal status and fulfill other requirements.

The House GOP principles could be released before President Obama’s State of the Union address on Jan. 28 or at the House Republican Conference’s subsequent retreat in Cambridge, Md.

Third Ranking Republican Realizes his Biggest Donors Demand Cheap Immigrant Labor and Caves in in Typical Repugnant Fashion.
    There. Fixed it.

  • D.B. Cooper

Another democrat who ran as a republican in order to win. If you live there, send him to the unemployment line.
The GOP keeps selling you out, and you keep voting for them.

    • emiledurk16

      Not me.

  • Luca

They already have a status, it’s called “illegal.” Treat them as you would any other law breaker.

    • DonReynolds

They are “INVADERS”……treat them as you would an invader from any other country.

      • Brian

Charles Martel at Tours knew the remedy:

    • Steven

I’ve broken the law: how should I be treated?

      • Luca

You should be treated as the law prescribes. We have clear penalties for lawbreakers, we just have to push politics aside and enforce the laws.

Political correctness is killing this country.

  • No pathway to citizenship.

Whew. Now I’m glad we’ll all get to live in a country full of aliens and one where the wage-salary equilibrium is driven down to the bare rock bottom, but Republicans will still be able to win elections.

    • Katherine McChesney

‘…but Republicans will still be able to win elections.’

Somehow I don’t believe that will happen. The Leftists are too powerful and the so-called Conservatives are too wimpy. Elections are rigged. The candidates the GOP favors seem like closet Democrats to me.

      • Junk Man

Racial demographics are against Republicans. The writing is on the wall.

“Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), said he backs granting legal status, but not a new pathway to citizenship, to millions of immigrants in the U.S. illegally.”

Isn’t that an oxymoron? Seriously can anyone tell me what’s the difference between a path to citizenship and a legal status? This sort of action is rewarding the criminal with the intent of his crime. There is no way that McCarthy doesn’t realize this.

    • Greg Thomas

There is no difference you see. “Legal status” is simply a euphemism for a
pathway to citizenship. That’s how these traitors talk when they are trying to
pull one over on their constituents, while appeasing mexicans.

    • Brian

This system of ‘helotry’ we’re being sold is temporary. They’ll get to stay, ‘pay taxes’ and work. The full citizenship, jury service, voting and all the rest, will naturally follow. Reminds me of the gay ‘civil union’ idea from a few years back. You agree to that, and a few years later you’ll have the full-blown gay marriage. Why kid ourselves?

These immivaders need to be driven out, by law or by bayonet.

    • emiledurk16

      Definite political double-speak.

  • kjh64

Nice try but “legal status” IS amnesty. First, they’ll give them “legal status”, then later, they’ll push for a law that gives those with “legal status” citizenship. Same BS, different day. Yawn.

    • NM156

The most pressing consequence of awarding any legal status is family reunification visas for tens of millions of relatives. Funny how no immigration discussion about S744 reported in the political media ever quotes Congress members on massive chain migration.

  • So CAL Snowman

Somehow mexicans are good for the USA but bad for mexico. I’ve never been given a straight answer as to why that is from the liberals. They really HATE it when I post that on their boards.

    • DonReynolds

Yes, if Mexicans are great for the economy……MEXICO should be the richest country in the world……they have nine times more Mexicans than we do!

      • r j p

Mexico’s best and brightest are not coming to America.
Mexico is getting rid of it’s garbage.

        • Yes. We are Mexico’s welfare system.

  • bigone4u

No amnesty. No “legal status” or other bull. Just every illegal looking at the USA through rear view mirrors installed in the cattle cars transporting them back across the border.

  • borogirl54

What is going on is that the illegal immigrant advocates are more concerned about deportations than a path to citizenship. Legal status would prevent the deportation of illegals who have no criminal record. Mexicans have the lowest rate of naturalization than any other nationality.

    • DonReynolds

The legal status would guarantee they have all the time in the world to drop anchor babies on US soil. Under the Mexican Constitution, they are Mexican citizens, no matter where they are born, if one or more parents are Mexican. The ONLY way this can be stopped is by deporting them to their own country.

  • Spartacus

    They’re all the same…

  • DailyKenn

    Their legal status is “illegal”

  • jackryanvb

Make the call to the Majority GOP Whip talking this treason.

I made the call, spoke with a nice White staff member.

Try to avoid making threats. Be polite, firm, intelligent, but polite.

    Whip Kevin McCarthy — Phone (202) 225-0197

But if anyone knows some effective curses, white oriented Black magic, yeah. Now’s the time.

Maybe is CA GOPWhip can make a pilgrimage to the New South Africa and go to the excite place where Amy Biehl was brutally murdered….

If the Blacks are going to go down in to White human sacrifice, might as well be guys like this.

  • JohnEngelman

Republicans want immigrants who are here legally, so they can depress wages, but who lack the rights of citizens, so they will demand nothing from their employers.

    • Rhialto

In addition, the newly legal won’t be able to vote Democrat for the next few election cycles.

      • DonReynolds

        but the anchor babies will……
It has been 27 years since the last amnesty. How many anchor babies is that? Many of them were born before the amnesty, so they are generally old enough to vote already. In fact, some of the grandbabies will be voting soon.

        • Ella

Latinos breed like no tomorrow, and their generations are very short having teenage pregnancies unlike many White families do. We have mainly 3 to 4 generations per 100 years and Hispanics have more like 5 generations!

      • JohnEngelman

That is true. Lower wages for Americans. No votes for Democrats. What’s not for a Republican to like?

        • Martel

The majority of democrats voted for flooding the USA, a small portion of the RINO”s did so. Your entire argument doesn’t make sense, but its popular and often argued for on the mainstream media corporations, which are all owned by the same people.

Even if voting Republican is as good as wasting your votes, voting for a democrat is treacherous, its soft genocide, it displaces people and makes even your desired future of Asians, you, and some Jews living happily ever after impossible.

  • DonReynolds

If the 2014 mid-term elections were held today, the Republicans would probably pick up a few seats in both the House and Senate. This could be a very good year for them…..But NEVER underestimate the ability of the GOP to blow an election by alienating their own party base of voters. Amnesty would not only guarantee a permanent Democrat majority but also piss off many voters who would otherwise vote Republican. If the GOP sides with this, it will be the end of the party.

    • bilderbuster

It will be the end of the nation.
Get ready for big time UGLY!

  • E_Pluribus_Pluribus

Having watched the legislative game of let’s-do-amnesty/immigration-acceleration for almost a decade — which always ended when the GOP blocked amnesty in the Senate — I think the business and ethnocentric lobbies and GOP consultant types are gleeful that they finally got amnesty by through Senate. But they are also frantic. It may be for naught. They are doing everything conceivable to get the ball over the goal line — including meeting with the honchos of FOX News to suppress coverage of what’s going on. GOP open borders fanatic Lindsey Graham admitted as much in “Graham Defends Fox News Chief Ailes on Immigration,” WALL STREET JOURNAL, Jan. 14.

The amnesty express has never been this close. They are on the ten yard line. But it’s a brutal ten yards. All it takes to hold the line until the clocks run out is to scare the bejeebers out GOP congressmen/women. Politely and calmly, of course. But in a way they are not likely to forget.

    • DonReynolds

Ask them if they want to turn a favorable mid-term election into a Republican rout. Even with the most incompetent administration since Jimmy Carter, the Obamacare disaster, and a sinking economy……the Republipukes could still blow this election year by passing anything that smells like amnesty.

  • Anon

This isn’t about immigration. Neither democrats nor republicans have brought up any issue that would in any way effect immigration, legal or illegal in any meaningful way.
What this is about is a national ID system and selling this incredibly unpopular idea as a solution to galloping, mass theft by immigrants using instantly available, completely disposable, unquestioned phony ID.
The problem is a complete red herring. Even basic background checks instantly reveal these phony ID and refusing to accept matricular ID is the logical first step to any real solution.
No one is interested in the problem however. Blacks and non-white immigrants are worthless and beneath the notice of those running the show. If they get out of line, they will simply be genocided.
What is important to these people is keeping an iron fisted control over white people.
This is why Jose, the rapping, raping, mass murderer gets multiple slaps on the wrist before going back to mexico and changing his name and burning his ID while Tom Jones has to fear a life sentence for defending his family with lethal force. If Tom and other white people got it into their head to pre-emptively deal with the problem (which should have been done generations ago), it would shatter the power of those of a mind to rule us.

    HELOT. (via Merriam-Webster (dot)(com))

Any of the native peoples of Laconia and Messenia conquered and controlled by Sparta. They were state-owned serfs or slaves who worked the land to feed and clothe the Spartan population, whom they vastly outnumbered. Their masters could not free them or sell them. The Spartans lived in constant fear of a helot revolt and annually declared war on them to legally keep them in place by force. During wartime, helots attended their masters on campaigns, serving as troops and as rowers in the fleet. The Messenian helots were liberated c. 370 BC, those in Laconia not until the 2nd century BC.

Keep the pressure on your reps in congress. Giving 11 – 30 million (nobody knows for sure) criminal lawbreakers legalization pure insanity. Plus, they could sponsor their relatives; that would bring the total up to about 50 million aliens in our midst. Of course, these new citizens will vote for the vile democrats and their socialist giveaways. Most of them will be unskilled, uneducated, low IQ etc. Stop this outrageous bill now. Don’t sit on the sidelines. You are not wasting your time. The American people don’t want this bill. You have to do all you can do to stem the third world assault:
    – Contact your 2 US Senators and rep in congress.
    – after biz hours, leave a message on your DC rep’s voicemail. All US Senators have multiple offices so it would be a good idea to hit all of the. Remember, be civil and don’t threaten
    – go to NUMBERSUSA then go to the take action button. You will be able to send faxes to your 2 US Senators and congressional for free. (I also gave a $50 donation).
    – use Business Reply envelopes to state your opposition to America’s insane immigration policies and the proposed amnesty. Don’t give the parties any money.
    – join an immigration group like FAIR. Strength thru numbers!
    – go to the RNC & DNC sites to email them.
    – Use the media: call a talk radio program; write a letter to your local paper. If the media outlet is liberal, then talk about economic impact of massive third world immigration.
    – text everybody in your cell phone queue now.

In America racism is when minorities are expected to obey the same laws as whites.

  • Mike Conrad

Those who imagine that we live in a legitimate democracy need only reflect that opposition to uncontrolled immigration, which has been the stance of a majority of Americans since forever, is almost completely unrepresented in the national legislature as well as in the mainstream media.

Both of which, as it happens, have fallen under the sway of a tiny minority of primitive, fanatical tribalists who would much rather see America be destroyed than leave it in the hands of those who made her great.

When the GOP is gone, the coroner’s report will read “Death by self-inflicted wounds.” Sure the democrats may have handed them the gun, but it’s the republican leadership that pulled the trigger.

For years people like Pat Buchanan warned them that they’d set themselves on the path to ruin, but, too angry at being told the truth, instead of listening to people who knew better, they drummed them out of the party.

Most of the poor GOP wretches don’t even know the entire game has changed, and in this brave, new de facto one-party world, more people will cynically play their cards close to their vests and first ask, “What’s in it for me?” before “What’s good for the country?”

In the brave, new, cynical world, where nothing is any longer as it seems, why would anyone want to play in the peewee leagues with the republicans when he can self-servingly play in the big leagues with the dems?

    • emiledurk16

      well stated

  • E_Pluribus_Pluribus

Well argued but misleading. Look at Mississippi and Alabama. Mississippi is:

    60 percent white
    37 percent black
    3 percent Latino
    1 percent Asian

Mississippi favored Romney over Obama 55 percent to 44 percent.

    Alabama is:

    70 percent white
    26 percent black
    4 percent Latino
    1 percent Asian.

Alabama favored Romney over Obama, 61 percent to 38 percent.

The USA is undergoing a racial demographic change similar to that of American cities that were inundated with Negroes and Hispanics, peoples of lower intelligence and higher social pathologies. Look at Philthydelphia, Baltimore, Chicago, Birmingham, Detoilet, now. How could they ever reclaim their lost prosperity, charm, livability, and economic strength? They are all like the Poseidan ship: flipped over and sunk.

    • emiledurk16

That’s right. They’re gone forever. Political Correctness that destroyed the US. Hardly our “greatest strength” More like our (not ours here) loathingly drinking the PC hemlock. “loathingly?” Reminds me of the cow pastures where Cicero one spoke.

  • Katherine McChesney

It should be illegal to send their money back to third world countries. I believe I read that a billion dollars has been mailed back to Mexico. We need to keep our money in this country for our economies sake.

  • Whiteplight sees the Emperor N

The reasons for Republican support for the naturalization of illegals are simple, cheap labor through depressing wages, supply and demand of labor in your favor, etc., while appearing to be PC. This is a GOP dream!

      Traitors as I see them.

      • John Smith

        They’re all traitors.

  • WR_the_realist

It is inevitable that any legal status will soon be followed by citizenship. Also, if the illegal immigrants are legalized they can get married, have lots of children who are U.S. citizens, and take over anyway. So what difference does it make?

  • Ella

Stand in line behind those who already applied and went through the legalities.

    • So?

If I sneak into another country illegally per that country’s laws, and their politicians pass a law that means I will never get deported and also I’ll have the ability to work in that country, that’s quacking like a duck amnesty.

As far as “citizenship path,” if that country’s voter registration system is so weak that I could register to vote and actually vote, it really would make no difference to me about formal citizenship.

      • Ella

I miss the rule of Anglo-Saxon law. You’re right about the voting corruption, and once they drop an anchor baby, it begins again and again with no ending of amnesty and chaining.

  • John Smith

Just remember, they want to destroy your future and your children’s future. Their plan is to destroy America and when chaos errupts, they’ll board their jets and get out.
