Chaos Erupts at Mall after Release of New Sneakers
WSBTV (DeKalb County), October 5, 2013
The sale of limited edition sneakers created a chaotic scene over the weekend at South DeKalb Mall.
DeKalb police were sent to the mall for a crowd control issue, which forced police to evacuate the building early Saturday. A crowd of up to 1,000 people filled the parking lot in hopes of buying the Retro 5 Bel-Air Jordan Limited Edition sneakers.
{snip} Managers said there were only four stores that sold the sneakers and only 500 pairs were being sold in the state.
A manager from one of the shoe stores said he arrived about 5:30 a.m. and that some customers were armed with guns. {snip}

There are two stores in mall that are going to start selling the shoes Sunday for $450. They were sold Saturday for $180.
