Feds Investigate Redneck Day at Arizona High School, Have Nothing Better to Do

Eric Owens, Daily Caller, July 26, 2013

The U.S. Department of Education has officially opened an investigation into allegations that an Arizona high school’s campus-wide “Redneck Day” amounted to a federal civil rights violation.

The kerfuffle giving rise to the investigation arose back in May at Queen Creek High School on the outskirts of Phoenix. The student council hatched a plan to energize students for prom week that included a faculty adviser-approved “Redneck Day.” The point was to dress like–and spoof–“Duck Dynasty,” an A&E reality TV show which follows a wealthy, eccentric Louisiana family.

It’s not exactly clear how dressing like a hillbilly was going to motivate anyone for prom. What did happen, though, is that one kid bedecked himself in Confederate flag regalia, which offended some students.

In a July 18 missive to Reverend Jarrett Maupin II, the complainant, the Department’s Office for Civil Rights branch office in Denver details the status of the investigation.

“On May 23, 2013, we received your complaint alleging the Queen Creek Unified School District (District) discriminated on the basis of race,” the letter reads. “Specifically, you allege that the District discriminated by creating a racially hostile environment at the ‘redneck day’ event on May 1, 2013, at Queen Creek High School and by failing to take action to correct the racially hostile environment.”

The racial hostility apparently occurred because of one student who was wearing the Confederate flag—apparently like a cape. An assistant principal asked the student to remove the flag cape, which he did.

{snip}

Lindsey suggested that the Confederate flag-wearing student didn’t understand the problem at first because he had been transplant from an unnamed state where the Confederate flag is allegedly a more ordinary sight.

“We have determined that we have the authority to investigate this allegation,” the DOE letter also states. “We note, however, that the display of the confederate flag concerns rights protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. Therefore, the scope of OCR’s investigation will be limited to whether a racially hostile environment was created due to language and actions that were not protected by the First Amendment.”

Meanwhile packs of dark-skins roam around attacking white women and children. But that’s not as important as one of the mindless little vermin having their feelings hurt…

    • SFLBIB

Take heart. In jolly ol’ England, telling a policeman that his horse is gay can get you a night in the slammer.

      • Spartacus

If only that were Britain’s only problem… Unfortunately, Britain is a country ruled by jews entirely (The current prime-minister, and the head of the opposition are both tribesmen) , a country where dark-skins gang-rape little white girls and no one does a thing, and a country where posting on Twitter can make the police come to arrest you at 4 in the morning… I don’t know what the hell happened to England, but it’s a testament to what happens if you don’t get rid of jews.

        • SFLBIB

Why would Jews let Muslims in and take over the place? Doesn’t make sense.

          • Spartacus

Muslims are imbecils, they’re no threat to the Tribe, no matter how hard they try .

          • Sloppo

I understand that 14 centuries of inbreeding can cause many physical defects and much lower intelligence averages, but their prophet condoned it so they’ll keep doing it of course.

          • stewball

Tell that to the children and adults in Shderot if you know where that is!

          • Spartacus

Not a real threat, not one that can wipe you out. That’s something that requires a little more effort than the dark-skins are capable of.

          • stewball

Quite right except that’s your governmentnot Jews for goodness sake. What schools did you lot go to? A homosexualall boys school where anti semitism is taught as a subject?

          • SFLBIB

WTFO? How does your reply follow from my post? I think you responded to the wrong person.

          • stewball

I think that’s where it ended up. I also wondered. Many apologies.

        • stewball

          Stupid f–k. Another brainwashed idiot.

          • Spartacus

Is that what you people tell yourselves ? That people who hate you are just “brainwashed” ? You jews are supposed to be highly intelligent, but apparently not intelligent enough to know what scum you are, and what you’ve done and keep on doing to people… Have no worries, your time is coming.

          • stewball

We certainly are a highly Intelligent people which is probably the reason you are all jealous of us. Everybody knows that jews and Indians do better in schools than the hoipaloi.

          • Spartacus

You’re not that smart, you’re just the most successful parasites around.

          • Michelle

Not to mention physically unattractive 😉 I cant imagine any white guy being jealous of a Jew… Darn i wish i had a disportanent huge beak of a nose. Not to mention they’re cheapness isn’t stereotypical. When i worked at Hooters we Hated when a Jew or black sat in your section. I remember everytime thinking, maybe it’ll be different this time, maybe this Jew will prove the stereotypes wrong and actually leave me a decent tip,but than sure enough, leaves 12cents on a $40 bill. The only time i Ever got poor tips was exclusively from Jews and black..Thank god they didn’t come in often.. I think Jews have to be successful in life, they don’t have anything else to offer, so to get a wife or females at all, they have to be successful.. Theyre physically unappealing, with dull
but cocky personalities, they’re embarrassing.. So without success what would they have? and im sure they know that.

          • stewball

You’re not worth replying to little worm.

          • David Ashton

This is the sort of ethnocentric conceit that provokes antisemitism.

          • Spartacus

I don’t hate them because they do better in school… I hate them because they killed my people ! After WWII millions of Romanians were killed or deported by the soviet-installed government that was run by jews – by people named Pauker, Bruckner, Tisminentki, Rautu – almost all of them jews ! So this is not paranoia, or “prejudice” – this is the truth. Honor demands blood for blood, and I am an honorable man. Maybe if your country had more people like me, the pakistanis and somalis wouldn’t turn your children into human toilets .

          • stewball

I don’t think there were enough jews left alive to kill your murderous romanions off seeing as you burnt them all. You wouldn’t know Honour if it kicked you in the face and I don’t live in the UK anymore. Haven’t for 45

          • David Ashton

Radu Ioanid claims that Romanians killed some 280,000 Jews in WW2 and Rudolf Rummel estimates that Communists killed between 245,000-920,000 Romanians after WW2, but all these figures are “conjectural”.

          • stewball

Italy had mussolini so they were quite happy to do the Nazis job for them and eastern Europe especially romania.

          • Whitetrashgang

            Jews are complete garbage

          • stewball

Then so was your Jesus and the blessed VIRGIN Mary.

          • Whitetrashgang

Yes they are, Jesus dad made jews and naggers after all.

          • stewball

Don’t forget that the God you pray to – if you do! – was a fully paid up members of the jewish race. Never understood your people praying to a religious jew. I suppose he was a parasite too.

          • David Ashton

I do not pray to any deity, though I keep an open mind about the possibility of a Supreme Being who created this inexplicable cosmos.

I have some knowledge of the Hebrew and Greek scriptures, and discussions about their credibiliity, and a substantial library on “antisemitism” and the “Holocaust” including many Jewish writers (names available if readers can bear it). Unfortunately some Jews are more agitated by “self-hatred” among their own people than in engaging in self-criticism. I have never lumped entire peoples as good or bad, but discriminate among their members like the “Old Testament” prophets themselves. I have defended, and intend to defend, Jews against hostile and unfounded generalizations on this site and elsewhere, but I have every right to make rational and evidence-based criticism of Jews or anyone else whose activities I disapprove, including organized support for third-world and Islamist immigration into democracies other than Israel.

          • stewball

Ditto re god but I don’t really believe in anything. Regarding your attitude I thank you for it. I don’tuunderstand why these self hating jews don’t convert and those that are here should leave. I don’t know if you have been reading about our fanatically religious jews. They have become the most hated section of this country. They are rewriting the bible to suit their disgusting behavior. Won’t do army service. Won’t teach core studies. Only a little English and nothing else. Those that do go to the army are beaten up when they come home. One day one of them will use their rifle in self defense. I’m looking forward to that day. The families of these boys are harassed and when the boys do come home they won’t let them go to synagogue. God says in the bible fight your enemies. They think sitting in a yeshiva all day studying thr bible will save the country! There’s so much more. Disgusting and they are the parasites.

          • David Ashton

You seem to be referring to religious Jews in Israel not America.

Some of these exchanges see to have got into a muddle. As a famous US Jew said, “Include me out”.

          • stewball

Was that marx. Yes I’m sorry again. It is the is the ultra orthodox in israel I was referring to. I tend to wonder off subjects.

          • Whitetrashgang

All Jews are parasites and the spawn of satan.

          • David Ashton

Isn’t the idea of Satan of non-Aryan origin, or should I defer to your superior research on these weighty issues?

          • David Ashton

“Your time is coming” – what does this entail? How does this threat undermine well-funded Jewish opposition to “white Gentile racism”?

          • Spartacus

I wouldn’t know, I don’t read the enemy’s propaganda,so I don’t what it is I should be undermining. As far as I’m concerned, every jew on earth IS the enemy.

          • stewball

Maybe he’s counting onthe tthird intifada.

          • stewball

I know you’re brainwashed. I tell myself you can’t help it. I don’t know what other jews think. I’m not privy to their thoughts.

        • David Ashton

Exaggerations here, as unfortunately often the case where They are concerned.

Cameron has only slight Jewish antecedents; Milliband is altogether a different proposition. Something has been done, belatedly, about sex trafficking by Pakistanis, thanks partly to campaigning by The Times, then edited by a Jew called James Hemming, and still co-edited by David Aaronovitch, Danny Finkelstein, Oliver Kamm, &c. The anti-PC Zionist Melanie Phillips has also made a case against “Londonistan” and multi-ethnic immigration.

It is a documented fact that the Board of Deputies of British Jews was a driving lobby for earlier “anti-racist” legislation, but it is also true that ordinary Jews have more or less the same opinions of Muslim terrorists and Afro-Caribbean muggers as ordinary English folk.

          • stewball

I would think that the jews would have something against arab terrorists. What was deleted?

          • stewball

I didn’t know Cameron had jewish blood in him and milliband doesn’t count unless he was in Nazi Germany

          • David Ashton

Miliband’s mother was a Polish Jew and his Marxist father came here in wartime (see the Wikipedia biography and especially the final references). Ed patronizes various Jewish causes.

          • stewball

He doesn’t count as he married out of the religion and has said he doesn’t follow any religion. Maybe he donates to assuage his guilt for opting out. Of course he would be acceptable in israel thanks to his mum.

          • David Ashton

Haven’t you opted out? Is Jewishness a matter of “blood” or “faith” or what in your view? Territorialists suggested national homes in areas other than Palestine – Argentina, Madagascar, Kenya – but the claim to occupy the eastern Mediterranean to Euphrates area was based on religion, and the existence of the State of Israel has not succeeded in putting an end to antisemitism as originally hoped by Herzl.

          • stewball

Herzl.was thinking of Uganda! I think in my case it’s religion. I still count myself as British. British/israeli. I’ve got 2 passports. I lost my faith here eating non-kosher here.too. myPUkrainian grandparents were very religious. My parents less but certain things were expected of me. Eat kosher. Not date non-

          • David Ashton

The Uganda=Kenya people were “outvoted”. Herzl mentions Argentina in The Jewish State. I am not a believing Christian, though CofE christened, but I remain loyal to Queen and County, and do not want a multifaith or secular coronation of her heir, and I favor the unity of all Europeans including the English, Welsh, Scots and Irish.

          • stewball

Multi faith? That’s too ridiculous to even think of. I understand royals can now marry Catholics!!! I don’t really count the Scots irish or Welsh as different countries. I know they are. If England’s playing say a rugby game – big rugby players. Ex husband son daughter and now grandchildren – and they lose then next I support the other lot. If israeli is playing england in something I’m ashamed to say I support england.

          • David Ashton

I think the RC barrier is technically still in force. What some of us fear most is some future multi-racial marriage among senior royals. We are told that Kate Middleton has some Jewish ancestry, but this is disputed and unlikely. Royal princes have been circumcised by Jewish mohelim ever since Queen Victoria reportedly thought there was something in the Lost Tribes=Anglo-Saxons theory (there isn’t), but little George may be spared this treat.

          • stewball

I also heard that the royals maybe able to marry Catholics. After all lord freddy married a jewish girl. Circumcision is healthier especially for your female partners. Why shouldn’t Georgey porgy be circumcised? Jesus was. On the eighth day after his birth his parents took him to Jerusalem for that purpose. It’s in the new testament.

          • David Ashton

Christians don’t have to be snipped, but it’s entirely up to Prince William and his wife. Usually they get a Jew to do it professionally but whether this includes then whole blood-sucking ritual, I don’t know and don’t want to know. Up the Brits!

          • stewball

R elvis Presley could’ve got in too. His jewish line came down through his ma and grandma etc.

  • David Ashton

This Englishman asks you: “What language is not protected by the First Amendment?”

    • jane johnson

      The truth.

      • Erasmus

        Good one!

      • David Ashton

From Oceania Airstrip One: “More than 100 children aged under 12, including a three-year old, have been identified as future extremists or at risk of radicalisation…. They were all referred to the Channel project, which is run by the Home Office and the Association of Chief Police Officers…. Those who have reported individuals include teachers, parents, youth workers, neighbours, and even bin men. The majority of referrals involved concerns over vulnerability to Islamist extremism, but almost 400 cases involved far-Right radicalisation…. Police and other agencies took further action in 587 cases….” (Daily Telegraph, July 22, p.8).

        • jane johnson

That is truly frightening. Do y’all have anything like a 1st over there? If so, is it just being selectively ignored, or is there no right to free speech at all?

          • David Ashton

            We have no First.

We used to have reasonable “common law” free speech, subject to libel and obscenity controls. Anti-blasphemy legislation has died out – replaced by “hate” crime and “offensive speech” legislation. One “good” example was the arrest of an anti-homosexuality street preacher instead of the “gays” who had physically attacked him. There is still a sort of fear abroad whereby a few people even look over their shoulder or lower their voice when immigrants are discussed, but anger over this is rising. Theoretically, the police could seize “racist” classics on my bookshelves if they thought I might communicate the contents to a compatriot. So far “Holocaust Denial” has not been officially banned by Westminster legislation, but pressure continues.

          • jane johnson

I read about the young woman who was jailed for expressing her feelings about immigrants on public transit. Is it true that she was deemed to have a mental disorder because of not liking the direction the country was taking? Sounds like the “system” dragged the whole thing out until they wore her down. Did she not have legal counsel to protect HER rights?

          • David Ashton

I cannot personally answer your last question offhand. Robert Henderson (qv on-line) went into the details of this scandalous case. She seems to have been intoxicated when ranting about immigrants who were in proximity, but the case was clearly dragged on until she was worn down in virtual captivity.

          • stewball

And so it should. I don’t understand how it can be denied when it’s an historic fact. I suppose the 100 years war didn’t happen either which by the way is where the opposite V sign emerged.

        • gemjunior

Please tell me that you’re being sarcastic?

          • David Ashton

Please expand on this puzzling question and explain to which post of mine it refers.

          • stewball

            Of course I am.

          • stewball

I don’t know which post you are referring to.

    • stewball

      American?

      • David Ashton

I am not sure what your question to me means. I am a British subject of English descent living in the UK, not a US citizen.

If you want our governments officially to ban “Holocaust Denial” (undefined?), why not indeed officially prohibit also as a crime any “denial” of “the 100 years war” or of “Stalin’s ‘genocides'” (Naimark) or of the Warren Commission “conclusions” (Bugliosi)? Why should proven facts require police protection?

I have said before that details of Nazi persecution of Jews and others during WW2, which remain matters of discussion among established historians as well as radical “revisionists” or so-styled “deniers”, are not suitable for debate on AmRen, partly because of the space required and partly because of their gratuitous contentiousness.

For what it is worth, my own briefly summarised present, though open-minded, opinion on this recent history, based on substantial wide reading and controlled by available evidence, rather than any state edict, is that Hitler was a sort of Social Darwinist, who had incorporated into his ideology an extreme form of “biological” antisemitism and whose wartime attitude was well indicated (as I have said here before) by his conversation with Admiral Horthy; I would cite notably Prof. Richard Weikart, “Hitler’s Ethic” (NY 2009), despite disagreement on certain details (e.g. his comment about Fritz Lenz).

Whether Hitler specifically ordered the construction of gas-vans or gas-chambers which, even according to “orthodox” presentations of evidence, were locally and sometimes even clumsily established machinery, remains unproved.

The actual numbers of Jews, Gypsies, other nationals, homosexual men and anti-nazis killed by whatever methods is quite legitimately disputed, and could well be revised downwards as has been the case with earlier estimates of death tolls in Soviet labor-camps, in the German Army or among expellees, the Armenian massacres, &c &c. From Dresden to Auschwitz, these are issues for open debate among historians, not policemen.

What is relevant to AmRen is any abuse of the “Holocaust” as a propaganda weapon against modern white racial self-defense, or perhaps more accurately against white Gentile racial self-defense.

        • stewball

I know you’re a brit living in england. There are many atrocities denied especially by Iraq. When dear old Hitler realized that we would win the war he came up with the words the final solution to murder as many more jews as possible.

          • David Ashton

I myself prefer to capitalize the words “Jews” and “Brits”. I have no idea why your comment on conflict between Israelis and Palestinians was deleted.

My views on the “Final Solution” are summarized all too briefly here. Coincidentally I am just about to return Barbara Cherish’s “The Auschwitz Commandant” to my local library where we inferior and uncircumcised “hoi polloi” are prone to gather in the country you left.

          • PesachPatriot

I think the word in german is endlosung and was first instituted at the Wannsee conference in 1942….I don’t think there should be laws against denial in the US….anyone who wants to deny the events took place might look crazy, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they belong in jail for exercising a first amendment right.

Really, I understand Arizona probably would have been a Confederate state if a certain war would have had a different outcome.

    • The desert southwest was very pro CSA, especially Arizona, Utah, and Nevada.
There was Dixie College in Utah and there is still the Runnin’ Rebels of UNLV.

      • The Final Solution

There was a big move to rename Dixie College about 6 months ago. I guess “Dixie” is racist. As far as I knew, Dixie was more of a mythical geographic place associated with the South. Well they voted to keep the name the same fortunately.

  • Non Humans

They hold a “Redneck Day Event” and honestly expect to not see any Confederate Flags? I think that the student who was asked to remove his cape should turn around and sue for 1st Amendment infringements.

    • stewball

      Hear hear.

  • bigone4u

More intimidation tactics by Obama/Holder that violate basic human rights that our ancestors fought and died for. As I read the story, it appears that Education acknowledges students have the First Amendment right to display a Confederate flag. Thus, to satisfy the race baiters, an “investigation” is launched. It’s more accurately described as an effort to remove white history from the schools and silence dissendent white students.

What happened to the First Amendment? I didn’t think ‘offense’ limits the First Amendment; it seems to work when minorities demand Mexican Independence Day, etc. without any issue from the school.

By the way, anyone notice that just about EVERYONE, except Whites are offended all the time?

Time to defy en mass…..they can’t punish EVERYONE.

    • Michelle

I don’t think they’re really feeling offended at all. I think they just claim that so they can take away everything that means something to us. If we went to Africa and claimed something in their history, beliefs offended us,they could care less, they especially wouldn’t change for us. Cause they put their people first. Only in white countries does the government bend over backwards for outsiders. We can’t say merry Christmas anymore, its happy holidays, cause it could offend some packie. We can’t celebrate our Own history cause it could offend some black person. So everything important to us is suppressed to make the foreigners feel more ‘at home’ in a country that was suppose to be ours, but now belongs to everyone. India Africa, any country that’s not white, belongs to their people. Why do the white countries have to belong to them too. You don’t see white people taking over Asia, Africa,Mexico..etc. We don’t want to take from them. We don’t want their dirty country. All of them, take from us. They all want to move to a white country and take from us. Theyre disgusting and our government is even more disgusting for putting them before us,for taking from us to give to them, and than for forcing us to Not Only accept them but to change our heritage so they can feel more comfortable.. Its crazy.

This is a strange brew of the school indulging in the anti-white narrative by officially using labels like “redneck” and “white trash” and “hillbilly.” The diverse white Americans do not use words like “we are offended,” but we do reserve the right to take a look at what is going on and, inside the school in question, it appears that the language authorized officially for the event had been and is continuing to be used in bullying & hate speech on the campus, inside the classroom, and on the school bus to mock the diverse white students.

This hot mess may make other low-information superintendents and principals think twice about approving labels officially for young people that suppress their diversity and nationality, which is what “redneck,” “white trash,” and “hillbilly” do. The white kids don’t need this burden.

We adults can handle racially-tainted hate speech (and do every day in lots of ways), but our children should be able to grow up with a decent sense of self-respect.

    • Nathanwartooth

Note that the DoE had zero problems with “redneck” day. Their only problem was with someone wearing a confederate flag. This is only because they think it might offend some innocent, young, valedictorian Black person.

    • stewball

Has anyone noticed that children in english speaking countries are not being taught to pronounce the TH properly anymore? They use F instead. I find it awful to hear. Sorry not connected to the discussion but it’s been bothering me badly.

  • Greg Thomas

But don’t dare to question an illegal invader as he waves his beloved rag of mexico while at school.

  • IstvanIN

Blacks are insulted by everything, just look at the effort to rename Rhode Island.

    • Michelle

Another reason why sharing America with outsiders is bad. They have no respect for American history. They do everything they can to take our heritage away from us.

      • stewball

But do you call blacks outsiders who have been in America for generations such as the families of slaves who were sold into slavery by Muslims.

    • stewball

Why and what do they want to call it instead?

    • PesachPatriot

Seriously? what is wrong with the name of america’s smallest state? Its not slave auction island or cotton picking island or lynching island…what is the issue…how many blacks even live in that state?

  • Romulus

Meaning simply they will either dig to find something offensive to some minority or manufacture said grievance.

  • Sick of it

It should also be noted that Arizona was originally settled by southerners. Not that they care today, being overrun with foreigners and Californians.

  • [Guest]

What I want to know is why “redneck” is the one and only race-specific derogatory term that it’s perfectly okay to use.

It’s a direct parallel to using the unspeakable “N word” in reference to that holiest, most honored and revered of all races.

  • IKantunderstand

The bottom line is this: You, as a White Southern American, oh, and also you as a White Northern American, oh, what the hell:White people aren’t welcome. Don’t care if this land is currently under the aegis of America. We will change all that. WE won’t even have to fire a shot, seriously, we are more than half way there. Hey White people! Isn’t this just great! They are taking over, make no mistake, our conglomerates are now showing commercials with loads of Hispanic looking people. Just check out T.V. The shows highlighting Hispanics are legion. Make no mistake about it, we Whites are being replaced, GLEEFULLY by the powers that be. General Mills doesn’t care if a mulatto buys their product, or a Mexican illegal. Corporations that I grew up with, and was loyal to, are not loyal to me. Apparently, more than happy to eject my attachment for the “new” Americans. I am boycotting all “mainstream” company products. I’m DONE. NO more General Mills, no more ANY company that shows Whites mixing with non Whites. Companies that show “Hispanics” as the discerning smart consumers of this formerly great country,( which I will not shed ONE drop of blood to defend.), will not get one penny of my business, Target. That’s right Target, J.C. Penney, get along without my money, and I hope yours as well.

    • joesolargenius

The Power of Boycott is our one true weapon to stop discrimination against Whites by showing them in a negative manner in order to get non whites to buy their product !

  • Michelle

Its always white countries that are bending over backwards for outsiders. The confederation flag is part of American history, its upsetting we cant celebrate our history in Our Own country! You would never see India, Asia, Africa bending over backwards for its foreigners. But the white countries are willing to suppress their own history for foreigners. The outsiders must think its hilarious how they come to our countries and our government puts them before us. In their countries they’re government has their back, they don’t bend over backwards for white people.. Every single country has history that would offend at least 1 other race. But only in our country are we punished for celebrating our history..
In my city we use to have a big sign up in lights, every Christmas, that said ‘Merry Christmas’. Then about 10yrs ago they changed the sign to Happy Holidays. So as not to offend the few packies in my city. The majority is white, but we’re changing so we don’t offend foreigners?! If i go to India I wouldn’t get offended at their beliefs, its their
Country! And if i did get offended do you think they’d change for me? Of course not. Its humiliating how we change for them.. If you’re a visitor in my home im not going to redecorate so it suits your preference, that would be insane..But we change everything that means Anything to us to suit foreigners preferences! There’s nothing else I’d want to be more then a white female, but to see how other countries support their beliefs, are proud of their history (the good and the bad), and don’t change their culture to suite the preferences of outsiders, makes me wish my country cared more about us and less about some foreigner, who im.sure isn’t actually feeling offended at all,but just wants to take as much away from us as they can, cause they know they can. Its disgusting.

  • Ed_NY

Obviously any display or assertion of White pride is immoral and or illegal. I really think they are going to push us (White People) too far. I don’t think they are going to like the results when we push back.

  • The irony is baffling to me; no one ever seems to have had the notion that perhaps, since “redneck” is a racial slur against whites, that perhaps racism AGAINST WHITES should have been the focus of the investigation. In the middle of a school day based on a theme that’s sole purpose is racial condescension and denigration against whites, what are the feds investigating? Whether or not nonwhites might have been offended in any way through the school day based on an anti white theme… Astonishing…

    • joesolargenius

The term Redneck was originally applied to a group of unionized coal miners in the early 1900s whom fouht a vicious battle against a mining company in which many of them were killed. They were often viewed as Wobblies or Communist for having done so ,they self identified during this battle by wearing a red bandanna around their necks.

      • [Guest]

That’s interesting, if true. But as far as I’m concerned it’s also beside the point. That one unspeakable magic word that some people—including many blacks—use in reference to blacks means BLACK.

Regardless of their origins, though, the N Word and the R Word are racial pejoratives. It’s just that one of them is forbidden because the nation worships blacks, and the other is commonplace because the nation is at war with white people.

      • jane johnson

It actually goes back much further than that, and all the way to Scotland. Google King Charles I and the Covenanters. You are correct about the neck cloths, as they were called in those days, and the red color was meant to signify the blood with which they signed the hated “Covenant”.

      • Right, the Mississippi politician, etc.

  • jane johnson

Thank you. It’s mine, as is the name, and you may use it. Limericks are a hobby of mine for two main reasons: short attention span, and the belief that brevity is, indeed, the soul of wit. I am, however, working on a longer piece about the Zimmerman case, using Townes Van Zandt’s Pancho and Lefty as a sort of template.

  • SFLBIB

Every year a local grocery store lets high school students put up a sign that advertises the school’s “Black and White Dance”. No one has complained … yet.

  • SFLBIB

    Some things off hand:

A boss propositioning his secretary [an actual case].

    Inciting a riot.

    Conspiracies.

Threatening the president [don’t know how far down the chain that applies].

Telling the fire dept. there is a fire when there is none [a version of the crowded theater].

Bosses sexually harass female workers the world over. Can’t keep the little head zippered up.

    Or poor white trash.

Did anyone notice that more than n $50 million was stolen from the funds for the Holocaust survivors by people running the fund and nothing is being done about it anywhere?

That 2% of the American population also gives more than a quarter of all of America’s billionaires and multi-billionaires, according to Forbes Israel. But that’s just a coincidence, isn’t it ?

    I’m not a guy. I’m a female.

I don’t live in England anymore. I left 45 years ago and made aliyah. It just pisses me off how these creepy creeps spout the same old s..t time and time again. I suppose it makes them feel better to blame innocents for what they created in the world. It’s the Christians and Catholics who have destroyed the world with their holys of holys sexually abusing kids who go to them full of trust and the bishops just move them to another diocese to carry on the good wworks

  • stewball

@david. A day or so ago you dajd something about which country doesn’t have the first amendmen and I said America? Was that it

  • stewball

You dead right. I’ve been here 45 years and I wish I could go back home. I’ve still got my British passport. But I can’t. 2 kids and 6 grandkids.

    “The Spooks of Hazzard”

Only in America can white people organize an event intended to mock poor Southern whites, have black people crying that it’s racist against blacks, and then have white people apologizing to blacks about it….

Seriously, someone should write a book about how poor white trash are the only group it isn’t considered culturally insensitive to mock. Not only aren’t such stereotypes discouraged—Hollywood’s masters of reality eagerly applaud and lavishly finance sweepingly negative cultural oversimplifications that in any other ethnic context would be labeled as hate speech.
