Airport’s Garage Now Muslim House of Worship

Matier and Ross, SF Gate, June 9, 2013

Here’s a sign of the changing times—Muslim cabbies now have their very own place at San Francisco International Airport to wash their hands and feet before they pray.

Under Islamic law, Muslims are required to pray five times a day—a ritual that also calls for a ceremonial cleansing.

For many cab drivers, that’s meant either lugging bottled water around or using one of the bathrooms inside the terminal to wash—a practice not always welcomed by airport passengers.

So Royal Cab driver Hasan Khan, 52, a Pakistani immigrant, collected some 300 signatures from fellow cabbies, urging the airport to give them their own cleansing station.

Airport brass obliged—and the wash equipment was installed on the ground floor of the main garage, right next to where the drivers congregate for their breaks.

“The way we look at it . . . this was in the interest of maintaining a good relationship with ground transportation providers,’’ says airport spokesman Doug Yakel.

As for using public resources?

Yakel says the costs were nominal, with the work done by in-house plumbers.

Well – Thank God (or should I say, ‘Praise Be To Allah’?)

I’m glad we accommodate ALL people here in Saudi Arabia – Sorry – I mean the United States of Guilt and Submission.

Didn’t we used to call them urinals? And that little cake at the bottom will give their tootsies a minty freshness.

  • The Final Solution

Bottom line – don’t take a cab unless the driver is white.

    • The__Bobster

I though George Carlin was the last White cabbie.

In other words don’t take cabs.

I’m sure the business travelers loved seeing the camel jockeys wash their hooves in the toilets and sinks. These people don’t belong here.

But just think how conveeenient it will be to hijack another couple of planes if the mood strikes…..just like on 9/11. I wonder if the Muzzies did a religious purification ritual before they flew into the Twin Towers?

Meaning that there are at least 300 dune coons working the airport? Why are we letting them in?

    • Jefferson

I thought San Francisco prided itself in being a religious free secular city. So why are San Francisco Atheists accommodating the needs of Muslims ?

      • 1gravity

There are foot washing fixtures installed in one of the men’s rooms at the San Francisco City Hall.

Being politically correct rather than respecting a religion

I’m an atheist myself but not from San Francisco. I have noticed some atheists are more than willing to criticize Christianity but a little reticent when it comes to Allah. I have no idea whether this is just because they are more willing to criticize their own culture or whether they are afraid to say anything bad about Islam because of the danger it might cause, what with the Muslims being a little bit angry when it comes to perceived slights.

        • ms_anthro

They’re cowards, that’s why. Muslims will violently attack people who criticize them. Influential Cannot-Be-Nameds will destroy your livelihood and career if you point out how influential they are and how they cannot be named.

Christians? It doesn’t take much courage to bully members of a religion that instructs its faithful to turn the other cheek. The Left is mostly composed of cowards and weaklings, so they go for the low-hanging fruit.

      “Dune coons.” Excellent.

I am so old, I remember when Americans were taxi drivers. But then, many were killed when they were required to pick up all passengers.
So good to see how well the melting pot is working. Can the rest of us take off 5 times a day to pray? And the time for the ritual cleansing? Where do the Muslims do this in the desert?

    • MBlanc46

In the desert, they can use sand instead of water.

If the Mexican and Islamists have a fight, who would win?

  • IKantunderstand

No No No. I can’t take it anymore. Screw these muslims. I don’t want them here! What are they bringing to the table? Huh? Diversity is our strength? What the hell are you talking about? These “people” are throwbacks to an earlier time. I don’t want them washing their nasty feet in our sinks. I also don’t want to have to pay for sinks especially designated for them. This has now become Jihad Crow. I am against Jihad Crow segregated facilities. Jihad Crow is Unamerican. NO JIHAD CROW FOOT BATHS! Rid the United(for now) States of America of Jihad Crow laws.

I’ve wondered about those five times a day prayers. Do the cabbies jump out when it’s time to pray and leave their passengers stranded in traffic? I can hear the honking horns and angry motorists shaking their fists at the line of rear ends pointing heavenward. Anyone tempted to deliver a good swift kick?

In France, devout Muslims have shut down entire streets with their ritual prayers, these gentlemen at least seem to have the good sense to keep it out of public sight.
I admit I have never understood this act in a religion which treats worship of any physical thing as an act of idolatry (cough, Kaaba Stone…) but it seems to me that a man who has the moral integrity to submit his will to something greater than himself is a better person than the man who finds no moral boundaries beyond those of self pleasure or direct benefit. He may be more dangerous -because- of these innate beliefs. But he is more morally dependable in spite of them.
My biggest worry is that we see in Muslims, however violent and primitive our stigmatizing of their brothers at home, the ‘escapees’ who were also not able to live amongst their own. This can be a good thing as a rebel will is often a source of good work ethic and strong willingness to form new social attachments.
However; as a function of cultural islanding it is also subject to severe disappointment and the temptations of proselytizing to increase it’s power base. And with the strength of Islam in the prison system, this sets up both a direct threat in appeal to lower IQ Other Populations. And an even more insidious hazarding of centrism in what is nominally a Christian but -functionally- an agnostic Country.
We are who we are because we do not get into debates of canon elevation as ritual dogma but simply get on with the business of being Americans.
It will be a lesser place if this changes and we see, for instance a squeeze chart battle for influence between highly catholicized Hispanics, increasingly Islamic blacks and the residual center/moderate whites of varying degrees of lesser Protestantism and Baptist ministry if not functional Agnostic non-belief.
As an atheist, I am someone who sees only the figures given in _Eurabia_: The population of Middle Eastern Arabs formed some 80 million souls in 1950 and 320 million in 2003. That’s a 400% rise in population base in half a century in one of the culturally impoverished regions of the modern world (something like .1% of all engineering and science papers submitted in the last 25 years).
All indicators, in my opinion, of why Islam is now the largest global religion in a world where 84% of the planet produces 100% of the overpopulation risk. And has a median sub-90 IQ.
You cannot elevate yourself in a high tech info-dominant society, using those who believe in magic over science.
Where the arguments made in _IQ And The Wealth Of Nations_ as well as in _Wired For War_ both suggest a direct proportional increase in standard of living relative to intelligence as a function of investment in realworld physical engineering capability and where the U.S. (has 4% of the global population yet pays 50% of it’s R&D expenditures to stay on top) is the world leader ONLY because we brain drain other societies, we do not need to create a situation where religious tolerance or intolerance is allowed to exceed the bottom line of economic as cultural survivability.
Certainly not as a function of importing populations to drive cabs because ‘nobody else will’.

Everyday this country seems more like the world of Alice’s adventures in Wonderland. It seems as if all the world has gone mad.

Favorite lines from Alice in wonderland:

” But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “We’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.””How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.”You must be,” said the Cat, “otherwise you wouldn’t have come here.”Alice didn’t think that proved it at all: however she went on. “And how do you know that you’re mad?””To begin with,” said the Cat, “a dog’s not mad. You grant that?””I suppose so,” said Alice”Well, then,” the Cat went on, “you see a dog growls when it’s angry, and wags its tail when it’s pleased. Now I growl when I’m pleased, and wag my tail when I’m angry. Therefore I’m mad.””I call it purring, not growling,” said Alice.”Call it what you like,” said the Cat.”

Yes, Arabs/Muslims are known for their love of leisure–they sit and yammer for hours.

The University of Michigan installed “footbaths” for the convenience of their muslims. I find that these “footbaths” make excellent urinals as one’s “aim” does not have to be quite as “precise”. I have yet to be challenged by any muslims for using these “footbaths” as I see fit . . .

Islam is a political system masquerading as a “religion”. Constitutional “protections” do not apply to foreign political systems. ALL muslims must be required to register as “agents of a foreign government” with the U S State Department pending eventual deportation to their home countries . . .
The same should apply to those of the “tribe” who hold dual citizenship and have the interests of U S “foreign policy” in a stranglehold in order to benefit another foreign country . . .
