Report: $2 Billion Spent Annually for Medicaid Emergencies, Largely for Illegal Immigrant Baby Deliveries

Caroline May, The Daily Caller, February 15, 2013

Even though federal law largely bars illegal immigrants from obtaining Medicaid coverage, the program annually pays out more than $2 billion in free emergency coverage that mostly goes to illegal immigrants, according to Kaiser Health News.

The vast majority of the total emergency care reimbursements cover delivering babies, Kaiser reports.

Based on a Kaiser data analysis of the states believed to have the greatest populations of illegal immigrants—including California, New York, Texas, North Carolina, Arizona, Illinois and Florida—more than 100,000 people annually receive emergency care that is reimbursed by Medicaid.

California, Kaiser’s analysis showed, receives approximately half of the annual $2 billion Medicaid expenditure category.

That category of Medicaid also covers some homeless people and legal immigrants who have been in the country less than five years—and are therefore mostly ineligible for Medicaid, according to Kaiser.

According to a 2007 Journal of the American Medical Association report, an analysis of claims reimbursed by Emergency Medicaid over a four-year period in North Carolina revealed that 99 percent of the 48,391 individual cases went toward services for illegal immigrants.

  • Gutting a system paid into by those who are employed for the benefit of those who come here to steal their job.

$2 billion is just the tip of the iceberg. The only people who benefit are the invaders and cheap labor elites. Oh, and the gubmint employees that assist them.

I call farce, There is probably more than 200 billion spent on these things. Propaganda ministry please recheck your facts.

The $2 billion in doctor’s and hospital fees is just the tip of the iceberg. Then comes a lifetime of welfare benefits under the WIC program and other safety net legislation. Was it old time Senator Everett Dirkson who said something like, “A billion here and a billion there, and pretty soon it starts to add up to real money.” What a f-word farce this country has become. I wanna puke, but as a lower middle class white guy I can’t afford to see a doctor about my puking problem and I refuse to accept government handouts.

These expenditures are unstainable. We, as a nation do not have this kind of money. And with the current administration destroying the economy as fast as it can, we will be a third world country within a few years if we do not turn our immigration policies around.

Just Imagine the good that could be done if this $2 billion was instead used to help productive, law-abiding, respectable (mostly white) Americans of child bearing age to start or expand their families.

Most studies crunching the numbers and calculating what these illegal aliens are going to cost the country versus how much they put into the system, most studies come up with differences in the trillions.
Please, when we’re being told that we have to be ready to embrace austerity and cuts in our social services, why are we bringing more people into a country that’s already going bankrupt?

Texas, NC, and Arizona will not go Republican for long. . .
Also, isn’t it amazing how you see so many pregnant Mexican women pushing strollers with two other kids in tow?
How DO THEY afford this? She doesn’t speak English, her “husband” surely doesn’t have anything beyond a high-school education. . .so how are they not starving in the streets? Makes you wonder, don’t it.

The obvious solution: give them all immediate legal status.

There, another problem solved by the federal government.
