Immigrants in the U.S. Sending $120B Back Home

Jessica Chasmar, Washington Times, January 31, 2013

Immigrants working in the United States sent $120 billion back to their home countries in 2012, according to reports.

More than $23 billion went to Mexico, $13.45 billion to China, $10.84 billion to India and $10 billion to the Philippines, among other recipients, The Daily Mail reported Thursday.

Only $5.1 billion was sent back to the U.S. by the 2.4 million American citizens working abroad.

The amount of money being sent by immigrants across the entire world reached $530 billion last year, The Mail reports.

Perhaps we should levy a fine/tax on all outgoing remittances sent out of the country. Since we’ve been taxed to the hilt, let illegals know just what they’ll experience when they become “instant citizens.”

    • I agree with some sort of tax on international remittances to foreign countries. Why not, some of those money-transfer operations in the United States charge up to a 30% fee of the remittance. Why shouldn’t the dumb Feds get a piece too. Then again, we mustn’t inconvenience these folks who only come here to do the jobs we won’t do.

    • bigone4u

I would agree with you except that if the illegals are not allowed to freely send money back, the violin-playing mushy minded liberals would start singing the sad tune that the poor illegals must be allowed to use the money to bring their poor starving relatives here, and if you’re against that you’re for starvation. Images of starving children are an effective propaganda tool leftists use to great advantage.

      • Shattered

Yes but that’s going to crash in a few years here bigone. Did you see the nonpartisan Congressional Service Report showing that welfare spending in the U.S. jumped from $568 billion in 2008 to $1.03 trillion in 2011 and is rapidly rising?

That didn’t include entitlement programs like social security, medicare, or any veteran’s programs. That was 83 straight welfare programs which comprised the $1.03 trillion and rapidly growing.

It’s unsustainable. Prepare for a hard landing. No amount of manufactured “progressive” propaganda can fix the imminent economic reckoning reality is about to serve up.

    • Shattered

Why not mobilebay? They earned it under the table and didn’t pay taxes on it anyways.

  • WmarkW

Another way immigrants damage our economy — reducing the velocity of money. The average dollar you earn turns over about four times. Pay an immigrant, and some of it exits the country immediately. That $120B is half a trillion in lost GDP.

If the nonwhite invaders did not send remittances back to the home country,Native Born White Americans would still experience a massive loss of Living and Breeding Space. Do yourself a big favor:take the jargon you learned in eco 101 and dispose of it in the toilet…which is the natural resting place of economic jargon and the economics professors who hit you over the head with it in class. You will then have a lot more space in your brain for more important and interesting concepts.

Never open the window to ever making an economic case for race-replacing the Native Born White American Majority.

If 300 million chinese were allowed into the US, the could very easily create a high tech thriving economy even if all of the wealth generated stayed within the borders of North America. Would there be any benefit to the rapidly dwindling Native Born White American Population in the former nation formerly known as America? Absolutetly 0. And the chinese would make it an official and open policy to rapidly reduce the Native Born White American population.

There is a direct line from the argument over remittances to the above scenario. It is brain-dead stupid to worry about remittances.

      • WmarkW

        I stopped reading at “toilet.”

America is a big, sparsely populated country. There’s plenty of SPACE for lots of visitors; what there isn’t is jobs in our economy, or government funds to provide benefits for people who don’t pay their own way in the system.

Give a minimum wage job to an American black, and his/her wages reverberate through our economy. Give it to Mexican, and watch the GDP shrink.

        • pcmustgo

Blacks did have a lower crime rate before the 60’s welfare system and the flight of “good” working class (low iq) factory jobs to China.

It’s just better for all of us if people who aren’t smart can earn something too.

        • wattylersrevolt

Really, would you be happy with a population of one billion..two..three billion majority nonwhite and Naitve Born White Americans a violently persecuted racial minority

Most of what is taught in college economics courses isn’t worth the paper its written on….neither is the field of econometrics…and this comes right fom the horses mouth as they say..right from the economists. They just keep it as an inside joke among themselves…of course the “joke” is on us when anti-Native Born White American economc policies that flow form these “profound” economic theories are made into policy

There is plenty of space for lots of vistors..like where? Perhaps a 50 year waiting list to get into Yellowstone is appealing to you..but it would be a nightmare for millions of Native Born White Americans.

Also, there are nonhuman residents of America that live in these sparsely populated areas of America. If you feel unhappy because there aren’t enough chinese in America and that there aren’t enough endangered species in America..well, go live there or India.
The issue of remittances is 100 percent irrelevant because it is not the fundamental issue. The fundamental issue is which race will control the Living and Breeding space of North America.
Nonwhites now have the poltical clout to force Native Born White Americans to subsidize their racial dispossession within the borders of America…this makes the remittance issue 100 percent irrelevant.

  • wattylersrevolt

What difference does it make if the money stays here or is sent back to mexico? Why is this even being posted on AR? In the end, Native Born White Americans are race-replaced. I mean couldn’t you find a news story about farmland loss..the loss of habitat of an endangered species…upcomming mega-droughts this summer…asian snakehead fish species invading Natve Born White American rivers and lakes. Come on use your imagination.

    • JackKrak

Ok, we get your point. The reason it’s here is that it illustrates that the same people who supposedly need – and get – billions from the US government because they can’t pay for their own groceries, medicine, housing, etc. somehow come up with fat wads of $100’s to send back to the one or two family members who aren’t already with them in LA, Miami, Houston, Des Moines, Charlotte and on and on……..

      • The__Bobster

This is why Wells Fargo bends over backwards for the invaders. Guess whose service is primarily used for the transfers?

        • I thought most of them used Western Union to send the money home.

  • Stentorian_Commentator

Another reason to domesticate the use of the dollar. It does not come without cost, but makes us confront the need to ramp up production rather than print dollars to get what we want from foreigners who will lend the money back to us to reduce our productivity and increase our dependence. If the Mexicans have to send goods back, at least it improves our trade balance.

  • You can do this when you don’t have to pay social security, federal taxes, state taxes, insurance mandates, etc, etc, etc.

  • pcmustgo

Part of me hopes this money is used to build up the Third World so they don’t have to ALL come immigrating here… ?

    • wattylersrevolt

      pc
If the $$$$$$ stayed in the US, it could-would be used to accelerate Native Born White American racial dispossession. They could-would use it to bankroll the poltical campaigns of vicious antiwhite candidates. This is exactly what the asians in our America do with their big $$$$$$$…you wanna talk about the velocity of $$$$$…it is being used accelerate Native Born White American racial dispossession. Congressman Carolyn McCarthy is on the take from the Sihk Invaders. They wine and dine her at their Sihk PAC fundraisers. I can give close to 200 hundred examples of this.

    • DudeWheresMyCountry?

Build up? Into what? More poverty, more poor, uneducated, low IQ non-Whites with no ability to create a Western infrastructure even with billions of free dollars… Build up more idiots wanting to come to America for the American dream? One phrase that really bothers me is “developing world”, please… developing into what, more people trying to develop out of third-world squalor?

  • wattylersrevolt

Now, think of it this way:if the $$$$$$$$$ stayed in America would the case for shutting all nonwhite legal and illegal immigration down to 0 be any weaker? Not by one bit.
“The velocity of money”..its called physics envy.

    • DudeWheresMyCountry?

No, but there would be more money floating around in the economy.

  • NYB

None of that remittance money is real. It is all made possible by debt. This is how the globalists want it to be.

China is the sweatshop, Europe is the precision manufacturing. Australia, Canada, and Africa are the resource and food providers, and the U.S. is the center of debt-created wealth which everyone is feeding off.
The sooner we hasten the demise of this corrupt global regime, the sooner a new future can rise from the ashes.

    • Filipinos are the international labor force. They are forced to go abroad to find better paying jobs to support their families. They work in jobs as maids, nurses, accountants and teachers in US inner city schools.

  • bigone4u

How much of the money immigrants in the US send back to Mexico was earned illegally? As they say, Mexicans do the crimes American’s won’t do.

  • Let’s see ….. I saw my car rental final bill from a month ago and I paid 20% sales tax exactly.

Why can’t Chicago tax money being transferred to foreign countries instead? My money is going to be spent here. And the more of it I have, the more I spend.

  • obama hates whites

Gee whiz, that is so shocking and unexpected and its probably 2-3 times that number but will they keep sending back all this cash even when Obama legalizes them all to keep power?

    • Mike S.

Yes, because in the majority of cases, their real love is the “mother country.”

  • Mike S.

Am very surprised Vietnam didn’t make the list, they usually clear 8 or so billion and set yearly goals. Talk about a nation of hoarders.

    • Mike S.

Erm, slight correction, a latest report says that Vietnam gets as much as $20 B, but that’s from several countries — figures for the US alone don’t seem available, but with both immigrants as well as “make amends” former refugees that are turning back to the “old country” I doubt it would be a low figure.

  • Tom_in_Miami

What finally happens to those dollars that make their way down to Mexico? The Mexicans have to do something with them to get pesos.

  • Bill

Here’s a thought. How about we keep the $120 billion HERE, and send the immigrants back home. Eh?

  • SintiriNikos

But I thought their presence enriches the country? Have I been fed lies all this time?

If this isn’t proof that these people’s allegiance does not lie with their adoptive country, I don’t know what is.

  • True Blue

This also destroys what little remains of the Mexican economy, fueling inflation and pushing even more mexicans across the border, as the peso is worthless, and thanks to the flow of remittances the dollar buys less and less every year, driving mexico’s economy further down the drain and driving more of the backed up sewage here.

  • I agree with some sort of tax on international remittances to foreign countries. Why not, some of those money-transfer operations in the United States charge up to a 30% fee of the remittance. Why shouldn’t the dumb Feds get a piece too. Then again, we mustn’t inconvenience these folks who only come here to do the jobs we won’t do.The dumbed Republicans could have won on this. They are against taxing anyone but they could have suggested to tax remittances, maybe its because Grover Norquist would hot have approved.

  • I thought most of them used Western Union to send the money home.
