Smithsonian to Now Feature a Recording of the US National Anthem in Spanish

Fox News, September 27, 2012

A little-known official translation of the U.S. national anthem to be sung in Spanish is now part of the Smithsonian Institution’s collection.

After World War II, musician and composer Clotilde Arias was commissioned by the U.S. State Department to write a translation that could be sung to the original “Star-Spangled Banner” tune. Curators say it was sent to U.S. embassies in Latin America.

There are few records of this translation ever being performed, though. Now the National Museum of American History plans to bring it to a live audience. Performances by a full choir are planned for Saturday afternoon.

    What next? Chinese?

Why not, considering that you owe them so much money?
A dollar bill used to be considered an IOU, now it’s an IOC (I owe China)!

Human Events actually posted a version of this story, in support.

  • I don’t know how many of you have seen Dinesh D’Souza’s “Obama 2016”, but there are a couple of really astounding (and actually frightening) “children’s songs” towards the end about love of and for Obama—I’m guessing songs like that might be our mandatory National Anthems by 2016—-“Obama’s gonna change it”—Our so called President has articulated SOOO much distaste for “the Star Spangled Banner.”

    • Count me out.  Dinesh D’Souza got Sam Francis fired from the Washington Times, and thinks that western Africa was superior to Western Europe in 1500.  I’m not giving him one cent of my money or one second of my time.

This doesn’t make any sense. I thought the documents have just been discovered that proved the Muslisms founded the Smithsonian and everything else.  Isn’t it blasphemy against the Prophet to play Spanish music when you should be blaring the Muslim Call to Prayer over the city?

I can’t muster anything on this one other than it’s beyond SAD.
Whooo hooo, a spanish rendition of what was created by English Revolutionaries.

The Soul of America secretly weeps.

My translation of the Mexican national anthem:

    Oh gimme, gimmee, gimme, gimme
You evil Americanos you stole my donkey
You took my last plate of frijoles
But I like to watch your base-a-ball

Oh I wish I had some tacos
    And maybe a big cerveza
But my wife farts too much
So she can’t have any beans in her burrito

Oh I need to buy a new sombrero
    And I want back California
    I drive an old Chevy
My daughter has a mustache but is still a virgin

    Viva Mejico!  Viva Mejico!

    “While America slept…”

  • Exactly what the La Raza racists have in mind.

  • I wouldn’t even trust D’Souza if he was 100% right about everything for the rest of his life. Is that supposed to make up for sandbagging Sam Francis’s career and livelihood?

  • Well, it’s time now to boycott this anti-American panderer called “SMITHSONIAN”.
