Mohammed Retakes Top Spot in English Baby Names

Richard A. Greene, CNN, August 14, 2012

Mohammed reclaimed its place as the most popular name for baby boys born in England and Wales in 2011—convincingly ahead of Harry, in second place, according to data released by the government this week.

The government declared that Harry was the most popular boy’s name, but if you add up the five most popular different spellings of Mohammed, that name comes top.

Mohammed is also the most popular boy’s name of the past five years for England and Wales, ahead of Oliver and Jack. It came first or second every year since 2007, the only name to do so.

{snip}

The popularity of the name comes as Britain’s Muslim population is expected to double in the next 20 years.

The country, which was about 2% Muslim in 1990, grew to 4.6% Muslim in 2010, with nearly 2.9 million followers of the faith, according to analysis by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.

By 2030, the United Kingdom will be just over 8% Muslim, with more than 5.5 million adherents, the Washington-based think tank projected in a 2011 report, “The Future of the Global Muslim Population.”

Mohammed first became the most popular boy’s name in England in 2009, then was knocked back into second place the next year as Oliver enjoyed a huge surge in popularity.

So Muslims are only about 5% of England’s population, yet Mohammed is the most popular boy’s name in all of England.  So, basically, there’s an alarming amount of Muslims naming their boys after “The Prophet”.  Yeah, that’s a good sign that Islam is playing less-and-less of a role in these Muslim communities on English soil, and all these Muslims will assimilate to the English way of life any day now.

    Enoch was right.

    • alas

It’s not just that they are all naming their kids the same name, but also because whilst they are only 4 or 5 percent of the population as a whole, they’re like 10 or more percent of the newborn population.

      • How do you have 5 kids named Mohammed? It’s like George Foreman. That has to get confusing. Do you just call them by their middle name? Do Muslims have middle names?

        • Judging by the lonnnnng names of the Sheiks, I’d say there’s a strong possibility.

  • Every now and again, you find a story that seems unimportant, but actually it is Earth-shatrtering. This is one such story. It will get no attention, and people will continue to talk about the Olympics and Dancing with the Stars. Meanwhile, little muhahhmeds are being squeezed out by the trainload.

The question is – will the number of council flats in the UK be able to keep up with the growing Muslim population?

  • My friend’s dad was a doctor in Kuwait in the 1970’s. Some of his patients were muslim women in their 40’s having their 12th or 14th child and he would admonish them and ask them why they would risk their health with so many pregnancies. The common reply was “We need more martyrs for the cause”.

They don’t need an atomic bomb to conquer the world, they are using the population/immigration bomb to subjugate the dhimmi world.

Anyone taking notice or still doing the math?

  • those Arabs are not English.

  • Mohammad is not an English baby name.

  • Initial reaction: disgust, but not surprise.

Second reaction: Are English women just running through the male names in Harry Potter?

If the names: Albus, Thomas (Tom), Severus, Remus, Sirius, Peter, Arthur, William (Bill), Charles (Charlie), Frederick (Fred), George, Percival (Percy), Ronald (Ron), Neville, Dean, or Draco have an uptick, I think I’ll laugh myself sick.

  • just saying

Long time follower of the site here but I just thought I would mention this…
Through my job over the last couple of years I have encountered 1000’s of people from the continent of Asia (think American definition of Asian and the English definition of Asian… I mean from Turkey to Japan).   A significant portion of the people have been from Saudi Arabia.

    Well my basic point is…
They only have about 10 names.  Faisel, Mohammad, Abdul, Abdulazziz, Monsour (somewhat rare), etc.

I asked one young Saudi (20) if he had a large family.  He was said, “What do you mean large?”   And I said, “you know big, like you have a lot of sisters and brothers.”   He said, “Oh yes, very big.  I have 21 brothers and sisters!”.        I just couldn’t help but think we’re screwed.  This one family has produced more kids than my whole neighborhood!

    • I wonder if he was counting the offspring of the child brides, the rape victims, the multiple wives and the incest encounters. Just wondering.

    •  I wonder how many wives his father had?

  • Diversity = every (white) place on earth becomes a homogenized microcosm of the entire world, no different from anywhere else.

This is probably the first time in history that a single name has been one of the most popular names in the UK, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, and Spain.

The left despises actual diversity. Europe in 1912 was far more diverse than it is today.

Cut them off the government dole.  If they have to be totally responsible for the children’s expenses they might be more accountable for their procreation.  Unfortunately, it would likely be political suicide to propose such a measure.  Eventually however, the financial freebie well will run dry.

This story actually points to a bigger story. Cities like Bradford and Leicester already have the largest Muslim populations in the UK. Naming babies ‘Muhammed’ is simply one stepping stone to the logical conclusion of these cities, funded and encouraged by Saudi Wahabis, declaring themselves “Independent Islamic Republics”.
Then there will be “Trouble at’ Mill”, as we say in the north of England.
Personally, I hope “Trouble at’ Mill” comes within my lifetime (I think it will), then the revolution can begin in earnest.

    • Ulick

loyalwhitebriton, I too hope that the hard push back by the true English happens within our lifetimes.  The sooner the better.

Just today, I was listening to a documentary on Enoch Powell and the history of multiculturalism in England.  It’s a great documentary and I encourage Amren readers to view it.  Anyway, toward the end of the documentary (the 54:32 mark to be precise) the Liberal politicians who championed multiculturalism admit that they were wrong and that the negative effects of multiculturalism like Shariah law and massive riots “never occurred to them”.
Never occurred to them? If you never fully researched the issue and never considered all possible ramifications why would you take such a monumentally culture shifting action?  And why would you smear and try to destroy those, like Powell, who did consider all possible negative  ramifications and had the stones to state them?  This is why I detest white Liberals so much.  If they simply held completely illogical positions they would annoy me, but their insistence on ruining those of us who disagree with them both personally and professionally garners my unyielding hatred.

I also detest the white Liberal’s condescension of the common white man.  Check out the politician at the 33:27 mark of the documentary.  He deserves a kick in the nads. You can literally feel his condescension and disdain of English dock workers. He describes them as “non-thinking people” simply because they dare to have a differing opinion from his ivory tower, no experience in the real world pasty butt. Of course, he fails to note that Powell agrees with the dock workers, and Powell would own him in an intellectual debate.

I agree with everything you say, brother.
Enoch Powell was the Best Prime Minister we never had!
Oswald Mosley also had some interesting things to say http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pV7Hz09JqBI

  • IKantunderstand

Holy crap! If this doesn’t provide a clue about where G.B. is headed. However, due to the fact that we are all equal,  I look happily to the emergence of Mo Shakespeare, Mo Orwell, Mo Churchill, and of course, mo damn White babies!

It’s as if the United Kingdom came down with the Pansy Flu.  One day, the sun never sets on the English Empire and then next, the Brits have been conquered.

Of course, there is another term for the Pansy Flu . . . it’s called SOCIALISM.

As proponents of communism learned in the early 1920s (please read excellent article about cultural marxism appropriately titled WHAT IS CULTURAL MARXISM by William S. Lind) English socialists have used immigration to destroy English culture and turn the place towards the Left.

Exactly what’s been happening in the US.  No coincidences.

  • IstvanIN

The United Caliphate of Great Britain and Ireland has a rather regal sound to it, don’t you think?

    • rightrightright

      The United Capitulate, you mean?

  • Rocky Bass,

Same as Barak or Obama too right? Kenyan if memory serves.

  • Rocky Bass,

If it had happened sooner, maybe multiple Enochs could have turned it, now I Am thinking a more drastic type may arise more a Hitler kinda guy.

    • Formerly_Known_as_Whiteplight

I haven’t seen a report on the German anti-immigrant marches on Amren or much of anywhere, but CNN.  They are ringing the alarm bell – another Nazi movement on the rise!  But really, the footage I saw resembles the villagers wielding pitchforks and torches in those Frankenstein films.  The monster today is multiculturalism and the villagers have every right to destroy it.

  • KenelmDigby

If you have any doubt at all about where England is heading, here is your proof.
On another note, the British government deliberately tries to obscure this information by counting all spelling variations of ‘Mohammed’ as being different names. This is clearly a nonsense, and a deliberate attempt to deceive – coming from a government that is supposedly unabashedly proud of multiculturalism.

  • Vil

I live in Germany with a lot of Turks around. I´d say more than 50% of them are named after the prophet. If I were to count all the different guys I know/met who are named Mohammed then… duh, I would still be counting next week.
There seem to be only 4-5 names among muslims: Ali, Murat, Abdul and Mohammed.
    Diversity my ass.

    • rightrightright

These 4-5 names become more rigidly entrenched as the generations pass because muslimas marry their cousins who bear these names and name their sons after themselves, their fathers and uncles.

    • Sherman_McCoy

Don’t forget about the Pakis and Arabs.  Not a few of those around.

      • Vil

I kind of notice a lot more Chinese are around and a heck of a lot more SubSaharan Africans. I live near a trainstaion and see dozens arrive nearly every day.
Until a year or two ago you´d maybe see 1 black in a couple months, if at all. Now you can´t spit without hitting one of them.
I asked this before: Where the heck are they coming from? Are the Marxists kidnapping them to Germany or something?

        • Sherman_McCoy

Hard to say.  I work near the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, and it looks like little Somalia.  But the Chinese have some government offices (or had), nearby.

  • Pretty sure Patel is Hindu. I’ve met 2 Indian women with the last name Patel.

  • Where is the Queen and the royal family in all this? If anyone is going to stand up for English blood it should be them. I know they are just figure heads, but how can they not care about losing their country? Do they really think the Muslims will salute them and say “For King and country”?

  • Formerly_Known_as_Whiteplight

Put Obama on the Jerry Springer show.

  • This should not be  a cause of concern, it is something to celebrate the multiculturalism in the country. It is true that the name Mohammed is extremely popular amongst Muslims with a vast majority named after the prophet
