ICE Agents: Morale Is in the Toilet

Todd Starnes, Fox News, August 2, 2012

Morale among Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents is at an all-time low more than a month after the Obama administration announced major changes to the nation’s immigration enforcement policy, according to the head of a national agency representing thousands of agents.

“Morale is in the toilet right now,” said Chris Crane, president of the National ICE Council. “Most of the guys out in the field are just in an uproar.”

President Obama’s policy allows the federal government to use “prosecutorial discretion” to allow younger illegal immigrants to stay in the country and get work permits. Critics called it backdoor amnesty, but the administration said it stops short of granting illegals citizenship.

“They call it discretion but it’s not our discretion,” Crane told Fox News. “We have no discretion.”

He pointed to another case in El Paso where an illegal immigrant injured an ICE agent during an attempted escape. Again, Crane said, because the individual was not a priority target, he was released without any charges being filed.

“They’ve got their heads down,” Crane said, referring to ICE agents. “We feel like the administration is against us and not the people who are violating our laws.”

According to a survey conducted by, ICE is ranked 222 out of 240 with a workplace score of 52.5.

Of course, any reasonable man working for this agency understands the fedgov is attempting to keep them from doing their job. It doesn’t matter though. The inevitable climax to this violation of our Constitution by the govt. is coming. There will be a reconing. The founding fathers always knew the greatest threat to our liberties would come from the government.

Look for the rise of the NEW ICE Elite- they get promotions based on how few illegals they arrest. Once in positions of power, they can fire agents who make any arrests at all.

Reason 472 former cult member, Barak Hussein Obama, Nigerian with an attitude, must be shown the door.

I guess suing the state of Arizona wasn’t enough.

  • Rocky Bass,

The whole federal government is at this point, madness incarnate, please god let there be enough of us left that care, to notice and fight.

  • Chimp Master Rules

Seeing at how mindless ICE zogbots will arrest (or shoot) a WN if the gubmint orders him to, this is not exactly bad news.  We have too many police armies in this country.  A few less is a good ting.

It’s not like they were really doing anything useful anyway.

    • I agree to the extent that we as a nation are not enforcing immigration laws anyway. Once illegal invaders make it past the border, they are essentially home free. We no longer conduct business raids, or get involved with interior enforcement of our immigration laws. Illegal invading Mexicans make their way to any large city (especially in California) and they are home free. They know it and we know it.
Thus, our so called “border enforcement” is purely window dressing. Why are we paying for a government agency that is not allowed to enforce the law and is basically, one massive government work program under the guise of “immigration enforcement.”
If we are not going to enforce immigration law, then why are we paying for this agency?

Highest priority must be given to ensuring that undocumented Democrats – undocumented Labour voters in Britain – have no problems in getting through the back door.

    Morale in the toilet?

Especially since border agents are forced to use bean bags against criminals that their own government has given Kalashnikov type rifles to.

I have a word for it: impeachment.

  • Sarge

Insofar as there ever was a battle over border enforcement, it was lost long ago.

ICE Agent Suspended for Arresting Dangerous Alien
By Brenda Walker on August 4, 2012 at 10:05am

More evidence that the universe of law and order is inside out under the Obama administration: an ICE agent is under suspension for arresting an unlicensed illegal alien driver with 10 priors, while the 35-year-old illegal was released.

According to a 2008 study from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, unlicensed drivers are involved in one in five fatal crashes. So releasing an unlicensed driver — particularly an illegal alien with an obvious disdain for the law — was a threat to public safety.

Furthermore, a multiple offender of post-30 vintage is definitely deportable even under the generous terms of Obama’s DREAM amnesty.

Unsurprisingly, the morale of border enforcers is at rock bottom. If an agent can be punished for doing his job to protect the public, then how are they supposed to function?

It’s reassuring that Senator Sessions is blowing the whistle on Obama’s expanding alien amnesty.
