MSNBC: Don’t Expose Muslim Atrocities

Colin Flaherty, World Net Daily, May 22, 2012

MSNBC’s new golden girl was in a pickle. If someone sees a black person committing rape or domestic violence, should he report it if it makes black people look bad?

Or if Muslims see wife-beating, genital mutilation and childhood sexual abuse, should they just keep it to themselves, because saying something gives ammunition to the “Islamophobes”?

The questions appear to be simple. But they posed a challenge for the host of the new “Melissa Harris-Perry” show when guest Mona Eltahawy talked about her Foreign Policy magazine cover story about abuse of women by men in the Muslim world.

Eltahawy speaks from experience: She had her arms broken in a demonstration in Egypt and was tortured and raped in an Egyptian jail cell.

So she seemed surprised to find Harris-Perry questioning her right to draw attention to “traditions” such as involuntary female circumcision, wife-beating and childhood sexual abuse.

“I start with a little bit of trepidation in this conversation,” the host said, “in part because I know some of the critiques of this. The very idea that Western press, those that are not from these nations, who are not Muslim ourselves, who are not part of these traditions can look at your article and say ‘ahhh, look at how horrible those men, or those societies, or that religion is.’

“And that is part of the reason why, for example, we have an under-reporting of rape and domestic violence in African American communities,” Harris-Perry continued. “Because we know the violence enacted on black men by police, so we often don’t call. Right?”

Then the MSNBC host brought in Harvard professor Leila Ahmed, who questioned whether Eltahawy should have written the article at all. Not because it was false, but because it made Muslims look bad.

“You began, Melissa, by noting that some things in the African-American community are not publicized precisely because of the racism,” said Ahmed as Harris-Perry nodded in agreement on a split screen.

“Mona, I appreciate what you do,” continued Ahmed. “I would love it if—I understand if you want to get your message across. It’s an important message. But if possible [you should not] give fuel, fodder to people who simply hate Arabs and Muslims in this climate of our day.”

Eltahawy seemed taken aback.

“That’s the whole point,” she said. “It’s not me that makes Muslims look bad. It’s those atrocities that make Muslims look bad. And as a writer, it’s my job to poke the painful places.”

I like to call this the “ostrich syndrome” where someone would rather stick their head in the sand than acknowledge inconvenient facts.

It’s taboo to describe anyone by traits shared with that population… except Whites of course…

    • ageofknowledge

Oh no it’s much worse than that Anan7. It’s an actual conspiracy.

  • JohnEngelman

There is not a truth existing which I fear or would wish unknown to the whole world.

    • mikejones91

      Enough said.

    • WmarkW

Taken literally, I disagree with this.

Derb the Martyr uses the example in We Are Doomed, that a scientist who discovered how anyone could make a nuclear weapon from components available at Home Depot, would consider the social implications before publishing this finding.

But the social implications of problems like differential intelligence are not what The Liberal Establishment thinks they are.  Trying to overcome socio-economic disparities by providing opportunities that blacks aren’t capable to take advantage of, doesn’t help anyone and leads to even more resentment.  Instead, dis-employ the immigrants who don’t belong here, give their low-skill jobs to blacks,  and emphasize that simply being an American makes them one of the best-off ethnic Africans on earth.

      • Chris M

I think the ‘truth’ in your example is that a nuclear weapon can be made, not how it’s made.

  • WmarkW

IMO, this is the positive side of diversity.
Even an MSNBC journalist  is forced to admit that sexual violence is under-reported among minority communities, and that news is shaded for sake of creating perceptions about victim-claimant groups.

The competing claims of the diversity targets is untenable.  A respect for truth and the belief that good actions will come from them, is at the heart of the scientific method that represents Whites’ greatest contribution to the human condition.

It’s what will set us free.

  • Global Minority

“It might give us a bad impression of them” They do the same thing with the black race. Did we expect any different?

    • alastairabbacle

      Eltahawy seemed taken aback:

“That’s the whole point,” she said. “It’s not me that makes Muslims
look bad. It’s those atrocities that make Muslims look bad. And as a
writer, it’s my job to poke the painful places.””

      I was taken aback:
“That’s the whole point,” I said.  “It’s not me that makes Blacks look bad.  It’s the high levels of violence and illegitimacy that make Blacks look bad.  And as a citizen, it’s my job to poke the painful places.”

It is the great self-esteem racket.  The notion that bad “self-esteem” is what holds a person or a race back.  NO, honest attention to the fundamentals of living well are what uplift a person or a race.

The oppression of the Black race can be accomplished by encouraging, excusing and praising the most degenerate.

To oppress a person or race, never give them honest feedback.
To keep a people mired in savagery, excuse and appease their most wretched behavior.

Assign that wretched heathenism to their identity, chain them to the devil.

      • Global Minority

I’d agree. However my comment was that the media covers up by NOT reporting their criminal behavor and always has an excuse as to why they act out and the excuse is “racism” from the white man which we all know to be BS. And the media now does this with the Muslims as well. The only race of people it does not cover for (nor do I want or expect) is the White Race. However, the media usually twists it and sometimes outright lies about it too to make White people look worse or bad. Take the case of Geroge Zimmerman for example and he is NOT even white but the media says he is.

  • Hirschibold

“I start with a little bit of trepidation in this conversation in part because I know some of the critiques of this. The
very idea that Western press, those that are not from these nations, who

at your article and say ‘ahhh, look at how horrible those men, or those
    societies, or that religion is.’

Gee, Miss Melissa Hyphenated Perry, you and your friends seem to have no problem casting aspersions on, reading the minds of, or mocking all of the backwards bigoted racist rednecks whose “traditions” you are certainly not a part of. If the Tea Party, or for that matter, any white who doesn’t prostrate themselves before Obama provide prima facie evidence, just by their very existence, of racism, chauvinism, and every other -ism and pathology, why do people not have a right to access a mountain of facts provided by Muslim women and then draw their own conclusions?

You don’t have to answer the question, Ms. Perry. We all know it would be sexist to point out the logical inconsistencies in your worldview.

  • RebelliousTreecko

Personally, I wouldn’t mind the removal of anti-racism classes, racism talks, and various WWII movies, considering how they focus on making our race look bad, and providing justifications for “oppressed” groups to attack us.

    • Global Minority

The thing about the classes that they teach are distorted LIES and out right propaganda that is MEANT to make them hate the white race. The ends justifies the means any way they can get it. End result gencoide of the white race as a scape goat to the non-white world’s problems and the elite will be their masters. Too stupid to see that they are forcing their own enslavement.

  • splitsing

I won’t lie.  That was about as informed of an exchange as I’ve ever seen from a group of  minority women.  Kudos to them.

  • ITS NOT JUST MSNBC ITS ALL THE NETWORKS AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

They do not want us to get the right impression of Muslims.  Over 10,000 of our soldiers have been blown up by Land Mines planted by Muslims in violation of international law yet our Government orders our military to call them IEDs not Land Mines.  We no longer have a country to call our own, a country to be proud of anymore.  We have a nation that is now surrendering to our enemy.

    • Global Minority

Lest we forget the recent Ft. Hood massacre that the PC Army tried to cover up and down play.

  • Like you REALLY EXPECT
    MSNBC
    to report on Muslim sins??

  • B

Cable news is chock full of propaganda. Any informed person knows this.

  • Johnny Reb

This is why rampaging mobs of out-of-control negroes are ignored . . . don’t want to make the “youths’  look bad.  Why rape and murder of white women at the hands of the “disadvantaged” (i.e., non-white predatory males) gets little attention.    Why illegals who pillage and plunder our nation like mongol hordes get a pass.  Let’snot make the aliens look bad . . .

Miss Eltahawy should have reached across and slapped the snot out of Ms. Harris-Perry . . . then just told her it was part of the Arab tradition to slap stupid female liberal anchors . . .

    • alastairabbacle

Indeed, lol slapping – it would have been appropriate.

“This is why rampaging mobs of out-of-control blacks are ignored . . . don’t want to make the “youths’  look bad.”

How do you oppress a person or a race?   Never give critical feedback, stroke their self-esteem only.     The PC  Whites are oppressing the Blacks with self-esteem oppression, no question.

The talking heads may not intend to oppress that Blacks this way.  That is the curious thing about oppression: those who oppress often know not that they do.

There must be some people at the top who like having an arsenal of savages in their political pocket, which they can threaten to unleash on the majority population at any time.

There is NO SUCH THING as a “moderate” muslim . . . ALL muslims must be treated with suspicion.  The koran is written in such a way that later passages take precedence over the earlier writings . . .
Islam is a political system masquerading as a “religion” . . . That being said, there is no Constitutional protection conferred on this or any foreign political system.
The muslims can go back where they came from and take the zionists with them . . . neither group has business being in MY country . . .

  • sgmpalm

MSNBC is owned by Comcast (major shareholder). The CEO is Brian Roberts (Jew). Most people should already know that most of the major media is Jewish owned. Most people should also know that the major media is anti-White. In otherwords, Jews are anti-White. So if you watch television, read magazines, newspapers, ads, etc., then the main message will always be pro-minority anti-White.

  • Hey, why not, they have the same policy for blacks and mexicans

  • alastairabbacle

Welcome to the Upper Midwest, Somalis.  Come marry our daughters, do business with us  (under your sharia rules of course), come convert our Black population to Islam, and feel free to mutilate your daughters private parts, if that be your tradition.
It’s all right that your sons rob and beat our sons and daughters, because now we have a whole new economy based on social services from the government for all of your unemployed “relatives.”

  • alastairabbacle

One mustn’t speak  too loudly about the sacrifices to Moloch.

    http://www.amnation.com/vfr/archives/021843.html

  • We can’t talk about how blacks commit an insanely proportionate amount of crime!  Why, if we did that, people might AVOID them!

And we can’t have that, now can we?

    • libertarian1234

Somebody should do a study on the liberal mind.

Their airhead assertions and thinking processes are absolutely bizarre.

Basic intelligence and common sense seem to be completely lost on them.

      • Critic_of_Leviathan

Yes, liberals think that the primary function of an argument is to make sure that nobody is offended.  Never mind truth or falsity.

    • Global Minority

Our ancestors used too and that is why we had Jim Crow laws to protect us from the savages!

  • Diamond_Lil

And the feminists are notable silent.

    • Global Minority

Of course they are. I think it is becasue they just hate the White man in general so their issues are only with the White man. The feminists remain silent on issues such as this becasue they really don’t care or are too afraid to speak up?

    • ncpride

I was thinking the same thing. Where are all these so called women’s groups, and why are they not outraged at this twisted way of thinking? For heavens sake, these two nuts are basically saying that women should suffer the humiliation and psychological damage of rape in silence to keep ‘their’ men from looking bad. And here I thought rabid liberal ‘logic’ could sink no lower.  But to tell you the truth, I’m a female and I DESPISE these feminists who are just as rabid as liberals in some ways.

“Islam is a political system masquerading as a “religion”

Thank Allah someone has it right. Islam is no different that state run Nazism.

Islam is waging war against us while we worry over whether we “offend” these barbaric, 7th century savages or not. When we’re gone from their rotten hell holes…they’ll revert to what they were before we even arrived there. The Russians tried with complete brutality to suppress these animals back in the 80’s. We have our troops hands tied with ludicrous, ridiculous PC laden ROE’s. Muslims….all of them are the enemy and we better wise up.

  • Global Minority

Don’t worry if and when the crap hits the fan the liberals at MSNBC and their buddies will be the first attacked in this nightmere they helped create. Serves them right too. They are in for a rude awakening is all I can say.

  • splitsing

Funny how the left talks ad-nauseum about tea-party/right-wingers/”wing nuts”/KKK/white supremacists/islamaphobe/homophobe etc… but refuse to acknowledge the disparity in numbers between those in the West that ascribe to the values of extremists like Fred Phelps or or some other Fundy and run-of-the-mill Mullahs at your corner mosque.

The facts are that these preachers on TV that wail on homosexuality say nothing more than Muslim Imams do–nee, they say less, they do not advocate their murder/summary execution.

I saw Anderson Cooper vilifying that southern white minister today on TV and couldn’t help but think what if it were some Imam giving his take on homosexual behavior.

    • IstvanIN

They would hang him in the village square.  Gays and feminists are fools.  You can ONLY have a liberal, tolerant society in a white, Christian nation.

  • crystal evans

Why should we care about how Muslims are depicted? Their apologists claim that this has nothing to do with the religion but it is part of the culture of where these things happen. No one stops any negative press about Christians and Christian persecution in these same Muslim countries.  Isn’t it ironic that in Muslim countries, they want to suppress other religions but demand tolerance in Western societies?

  • MekongDelta69

It would be sooooooooo easy to write a 500 word post with all the obvious being pointed out, but it’s getting tiring being repetitive over and over again, so I’ll just say… MSNBC.

  • mikejones91

To be fair, a group of muslims were attacked by christians in Nigeria last week. IT is sporadic though.

    • Oil Can Harry

You mean a group of Black African Christians attacked some Muslims.

Black “Christians” take the Bible and the 10 Commandments  about as seriously as Pat Paulsen did his run for the White House.

      • mikejones91

Still Christian! But still Black….I just think EVERYONE would be better off without religion. Christianity holds back otherwise intelligent/realistic people from accepting the inconvenient truth of racial differences. “God made us ALL equal”. In my mind, if there was actually a god, we would ALL actually be equal. But were not so yeah.

        • Eagle_Eyed

Right.  All the rational secularist atheists in the Democratic Party are so gung-ho for a Whites only nation-state.

        • proxicon

I thought the constitution made us all equal. I don’t think the bible said we are all equal. We are all God’s children, but equal, not so much..

        • mikes2653

Neither the Bible nor the Constitution “made us all equal.”

The teaching of Christianity is that we all have equal moral duties, and will be judged by God irrespective of rank or wealth. That is far from an argument for abolishing social, economic, cultural, or racial distinctions. Slavery was universal in the ancient world, and the Bible does not condemn it. St. Paul, in the epistles, admonishes servants to be obedient to their masters, and masters to be humane to their servants. The Constitution was drafted at a time when the franchise was restricted to white male freeholders, and that remained the case for decades thereafter. No provision of the original Constitution or Bill of Rights conflicted with such long-established practices, which antedated them. Slavery was explicitly recognized in the Constitution, and the first Federal immigration and naturalization act, passed almost contemporaneously in 1790, restricted naturalization to free white persons. Radically egalitarian interpretations of either document are recent and lack historical authenticity. This explains why the left has generally been anti-Christian, and why it has typically found the Constitution an inconvenience, trying to circumvent its obvious implications via a loose construction of it as a “living” or “evolving” instrument, or deploring it outright as antiquated, outmoded because it lacks provision for “positive rights” such as “free” health care and wealth redistribution – e.g., Justice Bader Ginsburg’s recent pronouncement that South Africa’s constitution was preferable to our own. We should cede neither the Bible nor the Constitution to the left, even if we have our own criticisms of them.

  • Critic_of_Leviathan

Suppress Muslim atrocities: burn the Koran.

After all, the book is loaded with ’em.

It’s always interesting when journalist agendas comes out in the open. Normally they all claim to be super professionals we all can have complete faith in, but once in  a while they slip and there the agenda is, from the horse’s mouth no less.

  • ncpride

Slightly off topic, but still relevant….My daughter told me this morning before school that as a last major project for the year in her English class would be to write an essay on the topic of their choice. My daughter chose… Racial Bias in the Media. Delicious. She outlined what she was going to use, going back to the L.A. riots, to the Duke Lacrosse and Jenna Six coverage, to the more recent Trayvon Martin case, and the Virginia reporters and that cover up. She also wants to hit on thoes in the media who have been fired for daring to speak about anything that doesn’t toe the PC line. I simply can’t wait to read her essay.

    • Don’t forget to write about the reception of the essay.

    • blindsticks

I simply can’t wait to read her essay.

In Britain this would  put her in the schools  little  red racist book and   her parents investigated by a team of social workers  and police looking for  Hate material.
       Well done just the same.

  • Major

No…don’t expose the Islamists and muslims….we’ll all want to look like this in 30 years.

    • robinbishop34

I always wondered what happened to Eddie Munster.

  • ncpride

Not to worry folks, the teacher already knows what the topic of her essay will be. She does go to a majority White HS, but I have a confession to make as well. She is absolutely this ‘teacher’s pet’ and we received a letter from the school just last week saying he recommended her for AP English 3 next year. I’m not the slightest bit worried. In fact, the reason she adores him so much is because he has a strict rule of never injecting his own personal views or opinions on the class while discussing controversial issues, but rather allows the students to debate it out among themselves. He encourages free thought, and teaches these kids to think for themselves. Besides, this is an Honors English class. There are no minorities there. No surprise.

Muslims need no help looking like violent,  medieval lunatics, and the rest of us need no help detesting them.

Breaking news…NY and NJ cleared of charges that they “illegally” surveilled, monitored spied on Muslims in their houses of destruction, mosques. A judge declared that it was indeed LEGAL as many terrorist plots had been stopped and foiled by the cops surveillance!

Muslims are whining as usual ( the “religion” of perpetual whining ) that it’s illegal, unfair and Islamophobic…and causers them such distress to be singled out….for the terrorists these cops actually arrested. For me…it’s enough reason to close down every one of their terrorism / terrorist planning centers.
