Two Dozen Inmates Injured in Disturbance at Sheriff’s Main Jail

About two dozen inmates were injured Friday in a major disturbance inside the Los Angeles County’s Sheriff’s Department’s Men’s Central Jail, according to the department’s operation log.

Inmates from five modules on the second floor of the downtown Los Angeles jail separated along racial lines–blacks versus Latinos–during the melee, according to the department log.

Seven inmates were rushed to a nearby hospital, according to the department. Twenty-two inmates were treated for minor injuries in the lockup’s clinic and re-housed. {snip}
