Europeans Overwhelmingly Against Immigration: Poll

EurActiv, August 23, 2011

An international survey of 23 countries by Ipsos has found opposition to immigration in numerous countries across the world, with majorities often considering its effects to be negative and its scale excessive. European nations were typical of this trend.

Majorities in countries as diverse as Germany, South Africa, Russia, Turkey and the United States were found to consider immigration to have a “very or fairly negative impact”.

Anti-immigration sentiment was particularly strong in Europe, with over 65% of Spaniards, Italians and British polled strongly or partly agreeing that “there are too many immigrants in our country”.

Sweden and Poland were the only European countries surveyed that did not have majorities who considered immigration to have a negative impact. In no country did a majority consider immigration to have been beneficial.

Majorities in most EU countries surveyed agreed that immigration had made it more difficult for citizens to find employment and “placed too much pressure on public services,” such as health care and education.

Anti-immigrant sentiment has put significant strain on freedom of movement within the EU. On 11 August, the European Commission approved Spain’s measures to exclude Romanian workers from its labour market. The Spanish unemployment rate is by far the highest in the EU at 21%. Bulgaria and Romania recently saw theiraccession to the Schengen border-free area postponed.

The Dutch and Danish governments, whose parliamentary majorities are dependent on the support of far-right anti-immigrant parties, have pushed particularly hard to limit immigration. In the case of Denmark, the unilateral imposition of new border controls was harshly criticised by the European Commission and Germany.

Immigration in Europe: Declining and uneven

The number of migrants in the world has increased dramatically over the past decade, according to the International Organisation for Migration, soaring from 150 million in 2000 to 214 million today. Immigration to the European Union, however, has dropped somewhat in recent years due to the economic recession.

A major study published last month by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) found that immigration to most European nations declined in 2009, including in France (7%), Germany (13%), Spain (18%) and Italy (25%). Immigration rates to Ireland and the Czech Republic virtually halved over the course of that year.

Similarly the EU’s own statistical service, Eurostat, found that immigration to EU member states dropped by 6% in 2008, while emigration increased by 13%. But Eurostat also indicates that the number of foreign residents in various EU countries has nonetheless been on the rise, increasing from approximately 28,913,000 in 2007 to 32,493,000 today (including EU citizens residing in another member state).

While anti-immigration sentiment, according to the poll, is broadly shared across Europe, there are significant national differences. The number of foreigners in some countries, particularly Belgium, France and Germany, has grown relatively slowly over the past decade or has even declined.

Other countries, often traditionally lands of emigration, have seen spectacular increases in foreign residents. According to Eurostat, between 1999 and 2010 their numbers increased from 1.2 million to 4.2 million in Italy, from less than 120,000 to 420,000 in Ireland, and from 650,000 to 5.7 million in Spain.

This report demonstrates that the lying, cynical elites have stolen democracy away from their citizens.

The way Democracy is supposed to work is that policy is decided by what the MAJORITY of the citizens want. However, in Europe and the USA, our so-called “leaders” completely ignore the will of the citizens and continue to import millions of unassimilatable, low-IQ foreigners into our homelands. Previously, this would have been called “treason” and those responsible would have been dealt with.

And is anyone under the delusion that Americans are all FOR immigration??? Get over it, fools!!!

“The Dutch and Danish governments, whose parliamentary majorities are dependent on the support of far-right anti-immigrant parties, have pushed particularly hard to limit immigration.”

I hope Americans are paying attention to this. If the people in these two countries who are against immigration had voted for the center-right parties because they aren’t as bad as the center-left parties, those parties would have no reason to push for less immigration. After all, they would already be getting the anti-immigration vote for nothing in return. We need to withhold support from GOP candidates who are bad on immigration, even if they are slightly better than their Democratic opponents.

“In no country did a majority consider immigration to have been beneficial.”

What happens when ‘immigrants’ become a majority?

  6. WR the elder August 23, 2011 at 8:10 pm #

In all those countries people are against the high levels of immigration they are getting. In all of those countries those same people overwhelmingly vote for the parties that continue the policies of mass immigration.

I guess the Swedish people have happily decided on national suicide.

    It’s heartbreaking.

We are relaxing standards on immigration from Africa. In 20 years the population of Africa will double. Think about it. We dont have that many missionaries or that many big black stew pots. Seriously cannibalism is not rubbed out in Africa. It was still going on in the congo past the year 1970. Can we take that surplus population into the US without becoming a transplanted third world African country ourselves. People are rightly worried about the hispanics but now we have to consider a spike in illegals from India and probable mass immigration from Africa as well. What happens to the idiot tax paying white dude who made America great.

I witheld my vote from McTraitor in 2008, and from all repubs.

I regret that, after three years of BRA. It has been DEVASTATING. Eric Holder alone is an abomination.

I agree, of course, that the GOP is a den of whores, but as I have articulated here many times (and no one comments?) that the Republicans are at least only beholden to money and power. They have no ideology. They will jump when the money-tenders tell them to. No matter who the money tenders are.

That CAN be white America. If it can be made clear that white America (the true , non marxists), control the vote, thus the power and the money, Republicans will do our bidding. You could make Lindsey Graham sing “I’m too sexy for my shirt” in a pink tutu for ten bucks. He’d do it.

But with Democrats, there is a deep hatred of traditional America, Maleness, straightness, History and even truth. Democrats also obviously harbor the browns and their seething hatreds of us. DON’T equate or even confuse those two evils…they are on cosmically different levels, in the end. Remember; one is soulless; the other is the very soul of hatred against us.

This time, I’ll hold my nose and vote ANYONE right and white of OBAMA, to get that man, and Holder, et. al, OUT! OUT! OUT!

THEN I can try to twist the nose of the little republican slimeball who’s in office. At least he will respond to money.

But wait…I bet the GOP nominates a Hispanic…no, MESTIZO woman, or a black man.

THEN, I’m voting for Alfred E. Newman.

    “What, me worry?”

“Majorities in most EU countries surveyed agreed that immigration had made it more difficult for citizens to find employment and ‘placed too much pressure on public services,’ such as health care and education.”

How about the simple fact that it is genocide? That’s what this is. Europeans have a right to exist and a right to self-determination. Mass immigration and well any immigration threatens that.

  12. Anonymous August 24, 2011 at 2:44 am #

What people say is irrelevant. They still vote for the social democrats or liberal democrats or green democrats or conservative democrats or……

Just 5-10 percent ever vote for “far-right” (moderate conservative) parties. They claim to be anti-immigrant, but won’t ever vote for the parties who would stand with them.

The most sickening irony is that when The People did NOT have a choice at all, the traditional kings and czars and bishops absolutely refused to sell their nations away. Monarchy has always stood for life and against death.

  13. Eric August 24, 2011 at 3:33 am #

And what will be done? It seems the will of white people the world over means nothing to the multi-national elite. They will continue to bring in unassimilable people by the millions until Europe erupts in war. Make no mistake it’s coming.

The country is renamed “Johannesburg” and “the riches and racists” are the new problem. It’s not a joke when you consider the nationwide Soweto-like riots in France(2005) and UK(this year).

Rest assured, Mr. Anonymous. What the hostile ruling elites are trying to do to the White European majority in America is STILL treason, and if I have anything to say about it – there will be treason and genocide trials for every last backstabbing, anti-white, nation-wrecking elitist rat.

You can count on it. And, the voting records and public statements of these criminals will be used as evidence to convict them.

Now do Europeans, Americans, Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders understand why South Africa had the policy of Separate Development [English] Apartheid [Afrikaans]?

The first recorded segregationist legislation in Southern Africa (and what became part of South Africa) can be found on the statute book of the British Crown Colony of the Cape (1806) and then later on the British crown Colony of Natal (1845)

In 1948 when the National Party came to power they gave the existing plethora of legislation that had been promulgated over the preceding 142 years the name Separate Development/Apartheid. In total Britain presided over 156 years of segregationist legislation in South Africa.

You can follow this trail of legislation on:

The white liberals in the old world/new world/west objected to this and toppled the minority white government in 1994 after it had repealed the Separate Development laws in 1990.

For a summary of what the west has achieved please see the article dated 2008-08-23 on:

    What goes around comes around

The west is now having to contend with exactly the same set of circumstances that the white settlers in South Africa had to and now they suddenly don’t like it.

It seems like Separate Development was not so bad after all.

  17. Sardonicus August 24, 2011 at 7:08 am #

And yet out privileged elites go ahead with accelerated population replacement: the greatest piece of social engineering in Western history. Who said that Western liberal democracy represented the will of the people? It represents the will of our privileged plutocratic globalist oligarchs.

  18. Dario August 24, 2011 at 8:59 am #

I’m pretty happy with the statistic.

Of course, we won’t win back our civilization simply with “anti-immigration sentiment.” However, I think these polls clearly demonstrate that the pendulum is swinging back our way, that people are clearly tired with this multicultural concept, and are distancing themselves from it.

Few were willing to admit they were against immigration a few years ago. Now more and more say it openly. People are slowly but surely coming to the realization of what’s happening to our nations. There is an ember – we just need to nurture it and make it grow into a great fire.

Surveys like this are important in informing people like those of us who frequent the American Renaissance website that we are not isolated bigots, but part of the main stream.

The burden of proof is on those who maintain that there is strength in diversity.

  20. Anonymous August 24, 2011 at 10:44 am #

All about “immigration” without mentioning race in the polls…

I bet they’d get much different poll results if they asked the question “Are you in favor of non-White immigration into your country?” or “Would you be less opposed to immigration if the immigrants were White?”

Of course people in western europe are so brainwashed that they’d probably refuse to answer these questions honestly, trying to prove to themselves that this is not a racial issue.

  21. hans schneider August 24, 2011 at 12:25 pm #

There is nothing wrong with selective immigration, there is everything wrong with third world immigration.

  22. Question Diversity August 24, 2011 at 2:32 pm #

    18 Dario:

Steve Sailer recently said something that has been crawling through my skull, but I was not able to translate into words. The problem is that public awareness is not the same thing as public policy. The “people” can be outraged about race and immigration almost to a man and woman, but unless they have some legitimate means to translate that outrage onto the public policy process, that outrage will dissipate.

Continental Europe is in a fairly good situation in that regard, because their political cultures reward multiple political parties. Therefore, there are these legitimate means there.

  23. Anonymous August 24, 2011 at 2:43 pm #

Dario #18: First, encourage those who have the sentiment of America the way it used to be, to become good Conservatives.

While learning the truth that the Liberals, Marxists, and Neo-Cons have been keeping from them, you can further educate them with Nationalist information, which will open their eyes even wider. Before you know it, you will have an informed White Nationalist, ready to vote for who will best Represent us, or even get into a Political race, and run as a Candidate.

  24. Fred from France August 24, 2011 at 3:34 pm #

20 — Anonymous: I bet they’d get much different poll results if they asked the question “Are you in favor of non-White immigration into your country?”

The British population in France has skyrocketed from around 50.000 in the 1990s to more than half-a-million today ( Few French people have realized the extent of that immigration, and nobody really care. Why? This is the kind of scoundrels we got =>

Reply to QUESTION DIVERSITY at #22:

This is why its so important to be organized. Only organized groups can influence public policy. Individuals – even in great numbers – are simply ignored by the political elite (unless there is full blown violence that actually threatens them personally).
