Race War in the WNBA

The WNBA is an explicitly political, left-wing sports league. However, two white players, Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark, are the best players and account for the vast majority of jersey sales. They are also the subjects of increasingly blatant attacks by black players, to the seeming indifference of referees and owners. However, to the WNBA’s relatively small number of fans, they are heroes. The WNBA is seemingly a fringe institution, but big money is at stake, and the social dynamics within it seem the same as in every major American institution.
