Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. Has Resigned from Congress

Aaron Blake, Washington Post, November 21, 2012

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) has resigned from Congress amid mental health issues and a federal investigation into his political dealings.

Jackson submitted a letter of resignation to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) in just the last few minutes, according to an aide in Boehner’s office.

Jackson has been absent from Congress for months as he deals with both the federal investigation and mental health problems that have landed him at the Mayo Clinic at least twice. It has been rumored in recent weeks that he would resign as part of a plea deal.

His resignation means he will not be sworn in for the term he won in November. Despite not having actively campaigned for it, Jackson comes from a safe Democratic district and was easily reelected.

Among the names being mentioned as replacements are Jackson’s wife, Chicago Alderwoman Sandi Jackson (D), Cook County Chief Administrative Officer Robin Kelly (D), state Sen. Toi Hutchinson (D) and state Sen. Napoleon Harris (D), a former football player at Northwestern University and in the NFL.

Also being mentioned is former congressman Mel Reynolds (D-Ill.), who resigned the seat that Jackson won in a 1995 special election and was convicted on charges of child pornography and sexual misconduct with a 16-year-old campaign worker.

Jackson Jr cried so hard before his press conference that he couldn’t go on with it.

He’s been hanging around Boehner too long.

This is the first honest deed this guy has done in his entire life. There must be a catch somewhere…..

The catch is that Junior was waiting out the election two weeks ago to make sure he would get re-elected, and waiting out some back room sweetheart deal to where his upcoming guilty plea on account of he got his hand caught in the corruption jar (The Chicago Way) wouldn’t bork his precious Congressional pension, which of course Junior needs because the shakedown business on Senior’s end isn’t quite as lucrative as it used to be. The days of big corporations giving Senior benefits and tribute and whatnot in exchange for him not sending in his racism-screaming goons seem to be over, especially since said goons are lodged as Vice-Presidents for Diversity and Equal Affairs in those corporations.

The shake down business is probably still quite profitable since the Jacksons’ own the downtown Chicago Anhauser-Busch distributorship they were rewarded with for calling off a Budweiser boycott.

They’ll probably choose the child pornographer because he’ll be seen as the least dishonest.

I nominate the Tossed Salad Man for that district. As if they could do much worse. Chris Rock, speaking about the Million Man march: “Even in our finest hour, we had a crackhead up on stage”.

    Jackson… was easily reelected.

This says a lot about the intelligence of the voter who re-elected him — he was in a mental institution and under criminal investigation. Where will Chicago find another psychotic black felon to replace him??

…expressing a desire to be remembered for what he ‘did right.’

    And what might that be?

This will blow over; he’ll be back.

They could turn it into a national comeback tour – JesseJr., Marion Barry, and Kwame Kilpatrick – the three political stooges of black Amerika.

Speaking of Barry, here is an excerpt from yesterday’s Washington Post – the byline is the “Editorial Board.”

      ============================
…Mr. Barry’s turkey giveaway is an annual tradition, and in years past he has
refused to say who has paid for the turkeys or whether the donors have contracts
with the city. Pressed this year by the Washington City Paper’s Alan Suderman,
Mr. Barry said it’s only “liberal white folks” who are interested in disclosure
rules or, for that matter, other good-government initiatives, such as the city’s
open-meetings law….Mr. Barry’s clumsy reference to race should surprise no one (recall his comments about Asian store owners and Filipino nurses), but the suggestion that only white people care about measures to ensure integrity and ethics in government is truly offensive.

      ==============================
As Bon said, he’ll be back. These morons never go away – there’s always more liberal White folks to prey upon.

Mr. Barry is probably right about good and honest government being a white thing. Blacks are not exactly the most moral group.

You’re wrong. They aren’t “morons”. They are very aware of what they are doing and have a purpose.

They are anti white black supremacists working to destroy anything white people ever built.

      On any street corner?

Big shocker. It would actually be better to pick the black liberal who is clearly the lesser of the 2 evils who could be more trustworthy to do what would not be a surprise.

It proves what only one generation of liberal pc mind wash can do to an entire nation. After the Simpson verdict there was immediate polarization between white and black without exception. Today 50% of whites would side with Simpson proving its only takes a single generation to brainwash and change an entire nation plus it only takes a single socialist in the WH to destroy an entire nation or build it back up that was proven with Reagan in the 80s.

Romney would have completely changed this socialist liberal demonic possession of the nation and been another Reagan renewal without the Hollywood background so he would have been better. Time to secede and call the 25 Red States as Classic America. Let the Blue States do what they wish. They can legalize bestiality and allow 100 million illegals to become their citizens and wallow in a wretched cesspool of 3rd world filth and decay.

Reynolds did time in the Illinois department of corrections and was quite the crybaby during his incarceration.

      Mel Reynolds, what a choad!

  • jr is a crook

    From The Chicago Tribune:

……Some Democrats quickly offered to broker a nominee to avoid several
African-American contenders splitting the vote in the heavily Democratic
and majority black 2nd Congressional District, which could allow a
white candidate to win. The district stretches from the South Side through the suburbs and as far as Kankakee.

  • Jeddermann.

My first comment on hearing this was THANK GOD! Jesse Jr. was preceded by Mel Reynolds who went to prison and before Mel by Augustus Savage who had the MOST ABSENT VOTING RECORD IN ALL OF CONGRESS! Augustus used to be my Congressman. Also that vacancy as created when Mel went to prison allowed an opening for a State Senatorial seat in IL that was filled B. H. Obama. The rest is history.

Maybe they can defibrillate Carol Moseley Braun’s political career.

  • SLCain

I am surprised that he’s stepping down. Since when has incompetence, mental defect, abuse of office, and financial malfeasance been an impediment to a black Congressman from Chicago? I thought those were job qualifications for a black man running for that office.
